Mooresville, NC (March 9, 2008) – Pete Knight Racing today announced the team had reached agreement with Sears Auto Center to serve as primary sponsor for its USAR Hooters Pro Cup 2008 stock car season effort. The No. 81s Sears Auto Center Chevrolet and driver Mark McFarland at the controls will make its 2008 Pro Cup debut at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, FL. The event –the Sears Auto Center 200 – will take the green flag at 7 PM Eastern Time.

“Sears Auto Center has obviously been a huge supporter of the series and we feel proud that a company of its prestige selected PKR”, said Knight. “We feel like the partnership and other team changes made in the off season will help us to be a title contender for sure in 2008. “To be able to partner with a nationwide company like Sears and Sears Auto Center is great and to have the support that those companies are going to give the team is awesome,” stated PKR crew chief Wes Ward. “We’re going to run the entire Pro Cup Southern Division schedule as well as Northern Division races at Mansfield Motorsport Park, Motor Mile Speedway, Jennerstown Speedway and South Boston.

"I’m particularly happy for Pete Knight,” Ward continued. “Pete has a passion for racing and he’s supported this series for a long time. It’s nice to see him finally get the support of a company as reputable as Sears. For his part, McFarland feels like this could be the year he finally grabs the USAR title. Last year, the Winchester, VA native posted a pair of Northern Series wins and three Top-10 finishes in the five-race championship series to finish third in the final point standings.

“We’ve added a lot to our program,” said McFarland, “We’ve added Wes as our crew chief, moved to a great new shop in Mooresville, and built all new cars. To now have a sponsor like Sears Auto Center – a company that already supports our series – on our side is big for Pete Knight, our company, and all of us personally. This whole team is excited about our season. I think our chances are a whole 50 percent better than last year. I feel great about it.”

McFarland and his No 81s Sears Auto Center Monte Carlo will take the green flag in the inaugural race of the 2008 USAR Hooters Pro Cup season at USA International Speedway at Lakeland, FL on Saturday, March 15. The race will roll off at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
