Ryan Lawler started his second - ever NASCAR Craftsman Truck Race at Kansas Speedway piloting the #07 Manheim''s Dealers Auto Auctions of Dallas Chevy. It was his first time racing a large speedway like Kansas. Lawler qualified with a respectable 28th starting position. Although he would have liked a higher starting spot he was pleased with the trucks handling and felt good about the race. In the first quarter of the race Lawler dove down into the infield to avoid a wreck. He came down pit road and the crew cleaned off his grill that was full of grass. All seemed to be OK until he returned to the track and the engines water temperature began to rise.

Lawler returned to pit road and the SS Green Light Racing crew found damage to the radiator, which was punctured after having to drive through the infield. The team quickly changed the radiator and Lawler returned to the track. But unfortunately the engine had already undergone severe stress from the overheating. Lawler had to retire from the race on lap 72.

"It's really unfortunate that happened," said Lawler. "We got better in each practice and by the time we qualified I felt like we had a good truck for the race. There wasn't anything I could do and had to avoid the wreck. It's just one of those freak incidences that happens sometimes in racing."

"I really like racing in this series and know I can show well here," added Lawler. "We've had a little bad luck in the first two races so far, but I'm looking forward to the next race and having a good run."

Lawler is scheduled for 7-races this year with SS Green Light Racing. He'll likely make his next start at Texas Motor Speedway in June.
