SOUTH BOSTON, VA. — South Boston Speedway officials announced this week that www.StrutMasters.com. will sponsor the May 31 NASCAR Camping World East Series event at America’s Hometown Track.

www.StrutMasters.com, headquartered in Roxboro, N.C., specializes in air suspension alternatives.

Chip Lofton, an avid fan of short track racing, founded Strutmasters in 1999. In addition to having his company headquartered in Roxboro, Lofton initially had facilities in California and Mississippi. However, after purchasing a 556,000-square foot facility on North Main Street in Roxboro that formerly housed the Collins & Aikman Corp., Lofton moved his entire company “back home to Roxboro to help the local economy.”

Lofton’s loyalty to short track racing is much like his loyalty to the community of Roxboro. He sponsors events at various racetracks each year and formerly sponsored the Limited Sportsman Division at South Boston Speedway, where he also has a huge grandstand banner on display this season.

“Racing has always held a special place in my heart and, now that I am able to, I like to support our local tracks as much as I can,” Lofton said. “To me, there is no better way to show support of the community.”

The history of South Boston Speedway is also something that means a lot to Lofton. He noted, “One look at the names at the top of the grandstands shows you some of the great names that have raced there.

“It’s a very special place,” Lofton added. “You sense the history when you walk in the gates there. There’s no place quite like it.”

South Boston Speedway General Manager Cathy Rice said she is excited to have Strutmasters.com onboard as the sponsor of the upcoming NASCAR Camping World East Series event.

“We are very pleased to have reached yet another sponsorship agreement with Strutmasters.com,” Rice said. “We already have a great relationship with Chip and all the folks at Strutmasters and this just adds to our partnership. It is always good to have local businesses be a part of the excitement at South Boston Speedway.”

In addition to the 150-lap race for the competitors in the NASCAR Camping World East Series event on May 31, South Boston Speedway will also host a 150-lap race for the NASCAR Whelen All American Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division and an event for the MACKA Karts.

The next racing action slated at America’s Hometown Track will be on Saturday, May 10. On that night, South Boston Speedway will host the USG presents Little Caesar’s Night. In honor of all mothers’ admission will be $5 for all moms. The first race of the evening will get the green flag at 7 p.m.

The featured events of the May 10 event will be twin 75 laps for Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division competitors as well as events for the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the Legendary Ford Flatheads Racing Association.
