CONCORD, NC (5-5-08) John Wes Townley, driver of the No.09 Zaxby's/SPS/BB&T/Saxon Group Ford Fusion, powered through the longest race on the ARCA RE/MAX Series circuit at Rockingham Speedway to bring home his fifth consecutive top-15 finish.

With the starting field for this weekend's Carolina 500 set at 50 cars, Townley started the 312-lap race in the 16th position, running consistently in the top-15. Several well executed pit stops allowed the No. 09 Zaxby's Ford to run as high as fourth and the team was in contention for their second top-10 finish of the season before Townley reported that a left front tire was going down on lap 295. The team pitted for tires during the next caution, but problems continued and Townley was forced to hold on to an ill-handling racecar for the remaining five laps..

"It was a long day at Rockingham but the team did a great job during the pit stops and our Zaxby's Ford Fusion was on a rail all day," John Wes stated. "Rockingham is an awesome track and a lot of fun to drive. We knew it was going to be a long, tough day with a lot of attrition so we just tried to be smooth and let the race come back to us. We were a little tight all day so we just kept trying to get the car to rotate better through the center. We ended up with a really fast Fusion on the long runs, but we broke a jack screw in the right front near the end of the race, which ultimately cost us a few positions, but it was a strong, fun, competitive day"

Townley's 12th place finish in the Carolina 500 allowed him to advance to fifth in the ARCA RE/MAX Series Point standings, a mere 20 points out of the third spot.

"A high priority for any race team is consistency on the racetrack," Townley continued. "We have focused on being able to finish every race competitively for our championship run and it's great for the Zaxby's team to be meeting those goals."

Next up for the RAB Racing with Brack Maggard crew is the Drive Smart. Buckle-Up! Kentucky 150 at Kentucky Speedway. Townley will head into this weekend's ARCA RE/MAX Series event at Kentucky with zero practice laps as several testing sessions scheduled earlier this season were cancelled due to rain.

"Not being able to test Kentucky was unfortunate for us, but I don't feel it being a disadvantage. RAB Racing has competed on this track numerous times, so with those notes and the positive momentum this team carries to each race we should do well."

The Drive Smart. Buckle Up! Kentucky 150 is scheduled for Saturday May, 10th at 8 PM ET and will have live timing and scoring on arcaracing.com.
