PRESS RELEASE

Kenny Wallace, U.S. Border Patrol Team
Eager to Attack "The Lady in Black"

Jay Robinson Racing Press Release

Wednesday May 7, 2008 (Monroe, N.C.) - It's been a solid start to the season for Kenny Wallace and the U.S. Border Patrol team. Top-20s at Phoenix and Mexico City have Wallace 18th in the driver's standings heading into this Friday night's race at Darlington Raceway.

Known as "The Lady in Black," many of NASCAR's best have struggled on the egg-shaped oval. However, Wallace knows his way around the track - he's scored a pole (1990) and eight top ten finishes at Darlington in the Nationwide Series, with a career best runner-up finish in 2005. He's also totaled three top-ten finishes in Sprint Cup competition at the track.

Friday night's showing will have an element of newness to it. For the first time since 1995, Darlington's been repaved. And in a test session held in March, drivers reached top speeds of 200 mph.

That isn't fazing Wallace this weekend. It's one of his favorite tracks, and he's looking to notch another strong finish for the Jay Robinson Racing team.

"I love the atmosphere and that it's only two hours from my house," Wallace said. "With the new pavement and infield tunnel, they've really upgraded the track."

Despite running into bad racing luck the last two races, that hasn't gotten Wallace down. He's encouraged by the way the U.S. Border Patrol team is running, and he's confident that Friday's event will yield a solid result.

"We've run real well the last two weeks and haven't got the results we've deserved," Wallace said. "We're not going to panic or change anything. We've just got to keep doing what we're doing and come back with a strong top-20 run."

Wallace and the U.S. Border Patrol team will get their first taste of the newly-paved track in practice on Thursday. Nationwide Series qualifying is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. on Friday. ESPN2 will begin coverage of the Diamond Hill Plywood 200 (147 laps, 200 miles) at 7 p.m., with a race start scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

On Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the U.S. Border Patrol recruitment unit will be present at the Florence Civic Center during the 4th Annual Darlington Car Hauler Parade. The recruitment unit will also be present outside the raceway on Thursday, Friday and Saturday as the Border Patrol continues their recruitment initiative toward hiring 6,000 new agents in the next two years. The recruitment unit is quickly becoming a popular stop for fans and job seekers. Visit the U.S. Border Patrol's website at www.borderpatrol.gov/NASCAR for more information.
