RACING PERSPECTIVES

Andy's Corner

Short track fun!

Toledo has come and gone and with it we are happy that another top five is in the record books. No small task for the ABM team as Bryan, Dan and John burned the midnight oil getting "Maverick" ready to get back into race shape after some cosmetic damage occurred at Salem.

Toledo is one of my favorite tracks, as well. Late in the tire run the cars get to sliding around a little and the car control we learned as a dirt race really comes into effect. Of course the rules prohibit adjustability from inside the car like we used to do with the dirt cars, but boy you could dial one in from the seat.

Fifth at Salem and Fourth at Toledo are the first two top fives of the season, but it is not really indicative of how well we have run. We were firmly in the hunt at Daytona and Atlanta when uncharacteristic mechanical issues knocked us out. I already told you about Nashville. I really dislike that place and it for sure dislikes me!

Headed to Kentucky, a place where we have traditionally been pretty decent. Going to see what happens as we venture out on our own! More to come as it unfolds. Right now we are a little behind. A virus has gone through the shop and it is getting everyone down. Hopefully the antibiotics kick in!

Until Next Time,

Andy Belmont
