Changing your monitor color settings
The web is ideally viewed at High or True Color, which is 16 million viewable colors. This is particularly true when it comes to viewing photographs on the web. If your monitor is set at 256 colors, and you are viewing a photo that contains 16 million colors, you will still only see 256 colors, therefore sacrificing the quality of the photo. We recommend viewing the web at High or True Color settings. To check or change your monitor color settings, go through these simple steps:
- From your computers desktop, double click on the My Computer icon.
- From the My Computer window double click on Control Panel.
- From the Control Panel window double click on the Display icon.
- From the Display Properties window, select the Settings tab.
- From the Settings window, look for Color Palette. If this is set at 256 colors, you should change it to High Color 16 bit or even better, True Color 24 bit.
After adjusting your color settings, you may be asked to restart your computer. This may be necessary depending on which version of Windows95 you have. Older versions require a re-boot, newer versions don't. If it gives you an option, you can choose no, however if it tells you its going to re-boot, just click Ok.
