“I have a lot of experience at Martinsville and that should help us qualify our way in to Sunday’s race. This is not an enviable position to be in, but I have a good team around me and we can dig our way out of this. We just need a little bit of good fortune, more than anything. We’ve had fast cars all year, but mechanical gremlins have gotten the better of us lately. But I can tell you that no one on this team is giving anything less than 100%.”
“I’ve been in this situation before and we’ve come out just fine. We’re more than capable of hitting a streak where we get a string of top-10 or top-15 finishes. Martinsville would be a good place to start one. We’ve come home in the top-10 there as recently as 2006. So while everyone else may think we’re in ‘panic mode,’ that’s just not the case. This is a top-35 team and we’ll show everyone that.”

Petty has amassed five top-5s and fifteen top-10s at Martinsville Speedway; his most recent top-10 came in the fall of 2006.
On eighteen occasions, Petty has started within the top-10 positions at Martinsville; he won the pole in 1992.
Petty has run more laps at Martinsville than at any other track; it is second on his list for most career top-10s at a track.
Petty has run 54 races at Martinsville, completing 24,323 of 26,862 laps (90.5%), including 221 laps led.
The driver’s average start at the track is 17.9 and his average finish is 18.7.
