PRESS RELEASE

David Gilliland Sprint All-Star Race Preview
Yates Racing, Press Release

Quoting FreeCreditReport.com Driver, David Gilliland:

With this being a non-championship points race weekend, how does that change your plan for the race?

“The Sprint All-Star weekend is something that our entire organization looks forward to because all the guys who work at the shop have the chance to come out to the track and participate. This is a race weekend that everyone enjoys and it’s a rather low-pressure race since there aren’t any championship points involved. With the pressure of points taken out of the mix, it allows us to try and do whatever it takes to win, which is similar to the hard racing style we all grew up doing. I’m really excited about this weekend and I feel very good about our car for Saturday night. We had a great test at Charlotte last week and the racing this weekend will allow us to build on what we’ll need the following weekend for the Coca-Cola 600. Our goal is to be one of the top two cars in the Sprint Showdown and then be able to advance to the All-Star race immediately following.”

Quoting FreeCreditReport.com Crew Chief, Cully Barraclough:

What is the plan for the team entering this weekend’s events at Charlotte?

“This weekend we have a very limited amount of time to get in some practice before we qualify. With the caliber of drivers that are already locked into the Sprint All-Star race, we think that we have a pretty good shot at placing in the top two positions and then be able to advance from the Showdown into the All-Star race. Our game plan going into the weekend is that we’re looking at this weekend with the mindset that most of the guys we’re racing against every weekend to get a top-10 finish are already in the All-Star race. The main goal of the Showdown will be to survive the race. There’s only one goal of the Showdown and that’s to advance to the All-Star race, so there really isn’t anything to lose and you’ll see a lot of action Saturday night in the Showdown.”

CHASSIS #524

  • Chassis #524 is the chassis the #38 FreeCreditReport.com team will be running this weekend for the Sprint Showdown at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. This chassis was tested at Charlotte during last week’s Cup Series test session.
