PRESS RELEASE

Travis Kvapil Sprint All-Star Race Preview
Yates Racing, Press Release

Quoting Yates Racing Driver, Travis Kvapil:

How are you feeling about your chances to possibly race your way into the All-Star race this weekend?

“Over the past few years I’ve grown to really enjoy racing at Charlotte. I’ve had really good race cars there in the past and I’ve gotten a pretty good feel for the track, especially since they repaved the surface. Going into this weekend’s All-Star events, our team is carrying a lot of momentum right now and everyone is very excited around the shop. Our test session at Charlotte last week went very well and we had great speed in the car. I think my expectations and the team’s expectations are pretty high for this weekend. I have a lot of confidence that we’ll be able to race our way into the Sprint All-Star race from the Showdown event Saturday night. I think we have a great shot this weekend and I’m looking forward to Saturday.”

Quoting Yates Racing Crew Chief, Todd Parrott:

What is the goal for the team this weekend and the Sprint Showdown race?

“Our goal for the team is to go to Charlotte and totally dominate the Sprint Showdown on Saturday. We had an awesome test last week at Charlotte and we feel really good about our chances for the next two weeks based on that test. This is not a points weekend for us so a lot of things can happen. I feel that what we do on Saturday night of this week pretty much will translate into how we perform the following week in the Coca-Cola 600. We also have a lot of momentum behind this team right now coming off of our third top-10 finish of the season at Darlington. Things are really starting to come together as we move up in the point standings and I’m just tickled to death to how quickly things have come together in just eleven races since we started as a brand new team on December first of this year. I feel really good about our chances right now.”

NOTES OF INTEREST:

· Kvapil has an average starting position of 11, and an average finish of 9.5 in the Sprint Showdown

· Kvapil has completed 60 of 60 career laps at in the Sprint Showdown (100 percent) and led for 13 laps

· Kvapil’s best finish in the Sprint Showdown is third which he accomplished in 2005

CHASSIS #530

  • Chassis #530 is the chassis the No. 28 Yates Racing Ford team will be running this weekend for the Sprint Showdown at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. This chassis was tested at Charlotte during last week’s Cup Series test session.
