Chevrolet’s Ryan Newman to Start on the Outside Pole in Martinsville

A fast lap of 19.258 seconds (98.328 mph) earned Newman his fifth top 10 start of 2015 and 17th in 27 races at the paper clipped-shaped track. Newman led a procession of Chevrolet’s in the top-10.  The Bowtie Brigade earned eight of the top starting spots.  Martin Truex, Jr. piloting the No. 78 Furniture Row/Visser Precision Chevrolet SS matched his best starting position at Martinsville, and will take the green flag on Sunday from the third starting spot. In winning his first race of the season, his fifth at the .526-mile short track and the 25th of his career, Hamlin took the lead for good on Lap 473 of 500, passing teammate Matt Kenseth for the top spot.
