2015 NSCS Toyota/Save Mart 350 Final Practice Session Speeds

Following Busch on the speed chart with a lap speed of 96.030 MPH was his fellow Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) teammate, Carl Edwards, and he was followed by Kurt Busch (95.992 MPH) who was third, Clint Bowyer (95.942) fourth and Martin Truex Jr. (95.840) was fifth. Rounding out the top-10 quickest drivers in the "Happy Hour" (final) practice was Jeff Gordon (95.750 MPH) who was sixth, Kasey Kahne (95.655) seventh Sam Hornish Jr. (95.524) eighth, Michael McDowell (95.453) ninth and Jimmie Johnson (95.319) posting the 10th-quickest lap speed. Then his team incurred a penalty when a crew member threw a spring rubber over the roof of the No. 24 Chevrolet—a violation of NASCAR’s rule against throwing equipment on pit road—and Gordon had to drop to the rear of the field. Despite the adversity, Gordon restarted third with a glimmer of hope when pit strategy left him near the front of the field on old tires, but the top-five position didn’t last long at the 1.99-mile road course Gordon considers his home track.
