This will be his fourth start this season, third at a road course
CHINA GROVE, N.C. (August 23, 2010) – For the fourth time this season, Alex “Kid” Kennedy will take over the driving duties for R3 Motorsports in their No. 23 MediaMaster Chevrolet, this time at the road course along the St. Lawrence Seaway in Montreal, Canada.
R3 Motorsports
This will be Kennedy’s third road course start this season, with the first two coming at Road America and Watkins Glen. The 18-year old driver from Aztec, N.M. is hoping to back up his results in the first two races this time around, as well.
Road America produced a 15th-place qualifying result, and 28th place finish after getting spun while running in the top-10 with 10 to go. Watkins Glen had a 23rd-place qualifying effort with a 16th-place finish on the lead lap.
Once again, MediaMaster and the Dream Factory, Inc., a non-profit organization that helps grant wishes for children with illnesses, will be on the car as marketing partners. Kennedy is one of Dream Factory, Inc.’s national ambassadors for their goodwill efforts.
Fast Facts: Kennedy will be making his fourth-career NNS start, which is also his fourth of the 2010 season. His best qualifying effort was 15th at Road America and best finish took place at Watkins Glen earlier this month.
Car Facts: Steve Plattenberger and team will roll out chassis No. 39 for this weekend’s race. This car has been used at every road course race this year, and at Montreal last year when J.F. Dumoulin drove it to a seventh-place finish. To date, in 2010, the car has recorded a 15th and 23rd in qualifying, and 28th and 16th in finishes.
Tune in for the win: With the Sprint Cup Series being off this weekend, the NASCAR Nationwide Series takes center stage. The NNS will practice twice on Saturday, then qualify at 5 p.m. later that day. On Sunday, the 74-lap race starts at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN2.

Does another NNS road course race make you more comfortable, or still nervous: “The good news is we already have three races under our belts together with R3 Motorsports. That not only helps quicken the learning curve, but makes it easier for me to communicate with the team during practices and the race. For someone like me, that chemistry is incredible in how it helps make you better on the track.”
Montreal is another track you’ve never driven before, make you nervous or do you look forward to learning a new layout: “I actually look forward to learning a new track. We did it at Road America and Gateway already this year, so we’ll look to do the same thing this weekend in Montreal. With the way Steve (Plattenberger, crew chief) and the team sets the car up, we don’t have to make major adjustments during the practice sessions.”
Goals for the weekend: “Same as they’ve been the other three races. Get all we can out of the car during the two practice sessions, then achieve a qood qualifying effort. I would also like to stay out of the multi-car wrecks we seem to have found the last two races. The good news is we were able to continue on both times, but I’d rather avoid them this time and get a better finish.”
