Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Homestead-Miami Speedway – November 18, 2011

- Denny Hamlin (second) was the highest finishing Toyota driver in Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

- Hamlin finished runner-up to race-winner Johnny Sauter in an event that was shortened to 119 laps (from 134) due to rain.

- In his most recent start in the Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) No. 18 Tundra, Hamlin picked up the victory at Martinsville Speedway (Oct. 29).

- Timothy Peters (eighth) also registered a top-10 finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

- Other Tundra drivers in the field included David Starr (11th), Dusty Davis (15th), Todd Bodine (16th), Brendan Gaughan (20th), Max Papis (21st), German Quiroga (26th), Miguel Paludo (32nd) and Johnny Chapman (36th).

- The race at Homestead-Miami Speedway marked the 200th race in the NCWTS for the Tundra.

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 18 Dollar General / DIRECTV Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports

Finishing Position: 2nd

Are you happy with your second-place finish?

“Yeah, it was good. We didn’t practice that well with the Dollar General Toyota, and we just weren’t all that great during the course of the race. But we did get better as we went, and obviously the last run I was just trying to be patient. I knew I had a truck that could get around Johnny (Sauter), but I just wanted to be patient and wait until later stages of the race, and also to ensure that we kept the third-place guy behind us and tried to use the draft. Strategy didn’t work out. It probably cost us a win today, but they told me one lap before the rain came that it looks like rain is coming, so if I got anything, I’d better go. That was my last-ditch effort on the corner to try to get around him. He slid up and got into us and we got in the wall, and it was one of those things. We were not in a position to really race him that hard anyway.”

How slippery was the race track in turns 3 and 4 when you tried to make the move on Johnny Sauter?

“I didn’t think it was too bad, it seemed, relative to what we had before. But he (Johnny Sauter) slipped up quite a bit, so he was the first one to evidently get to any moisture that was there. I had already committed to run really wide open on the outside — whatever happens, happens. For us, I didn’t think it was that much different. You know, he would probably be a better guess for that. But it was coming down. You could definitely see as soon as we let off the caution it was pouring pretty bad.”

How difficult was the track at the start of the race and what does it mean for the Cup cars if there is more rain?

“It wasn’t too bad. It was relatively similar to what we had in practice because we kept practicing on green surfaces — not much changed. Every time we’d run our practice session, rain would come, so every new practice session was on a green race track. So, I t hink the Cup cars kind of having a clean slate tomorrow should be relatively fine. I thought the track was very consistent from day to night.”

Would you consider doing any additional Truck Series races next year?

“Maybe a few. It definitely wouldn’t be on a triple weekend or anything like that. But I always try to do just one a year. But yeah, I mean, driving these trucks that KBM (Kyle Busch Motorsports) has just been really good. Those guys put together some awesome race trucks, and I sit in it and I look around and it’s as good as what my Cup car looks like on the inside. They put together some really nice trucks, and obviously they’ve given me, the two times I’ve been in it, two chances to win. Yeah, maybe three or four or something like that, but as long as the schedule all works out. Ain’t going to be on a weekend like this.”

TIMOTHY PETERS, No. 17 Service Central, Red Horse Racing

Finishing Position: 8th

DAVID STARR, No. 81 Zachry Tundra, SS Green Light Racing

Finishing Position: 11th

DUSTY DAVIS, No. 15 Tundra, Billy Ballew Motorsports

Finishing Position: 15th

TODD BODINE, No. 5, International Trucks / Monaco RV Tundra, Randy Moss Motorsports

Finishing Position: 16th

BRENDAN GAUGHAN, No. 62 Tire Kingdom / Service Central Tundra, Germain Racing

Finishing Position: 20th

MAX PAPIS, No. 9 GEICO Tundra, Germain Racing

Finishing Position: 21st

GERMAN QUIROGA, No. 51 TELCEL Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports

Finishing Position: 26th

MIGUEL PALUDO, No. 7 Duroline Tundra, Red Horse Racing

Finishing Position: 32nd

JOHNNY CHAPMAN, No. 07 ASI Limited Tundra, SS Green Light Racing

Finishing Position: 36th

EVENT – Kansas Lottery 300 (200 laps / 300 miles)

TRACK – Kansas Speedway (1.5-mile oval)

DATE – Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011

TV / RADIO - ESPN2 (coverage begin at 3:30 p.m. EST) / MRN (broadcast begins at 3 p.m. EST)

Aric Almirola

No. 88 Degree Men Chevrolet

“The racing surface at Kansas gets real slick. As the pavement gets older every year, it seems to get slicker and slicker. Grip is at a premium there. We’ll spend most of our practice trying to find the right amount of grip. The Degree Men team will work hard on that. It never really seems like you get it all, but it’s about who has more than the others.

“We’ll be racing a cool paint scheme with our Degree Men Chevrolet. It’s a good looking car, and I really like it. We ran this scheme at Bristol under the lights, and I’m anxious to see how it’s going to look racing in the daytime this week. JR Motorsports has had a lot of success with the Degree Men V12 logo on the hood of its racecars. I’m hoping for much of the same this weekend at Kansas.”

Danica Patrick

No. 7 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet

“This will be another track for me to experience in a stock car. The good news is Tony (Eury) Jr. and the Go Daddy crew do a phenomenal job preparing our cars for the racetrack. It will take me a few laps to get up to speed but after that we’ll be competitive. I’m familiar with mile-and-a-half tracks and from what everyone says Kansas is very similar to Chicago, so I feel like we’ll be in good shape.

“I’m looking forward to next year. It’s very important that we end this year strong with our Go Daddy car. We certainly can do that. Personally, I think I’ve jumped a small hurdle in the process of being more accustomed to these tracks. By season’s end there will only be a handful of tracks that I haven’t raced on in a stockcar. That will be a big advantage for next year.”

· This Week’s 5 Hour Energy Toyota … Steve Wallace will pilot Rusty Wallace Racing chassis RWR-064 in Saturday night’s Great Clips 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Built new for the 2011 season, this Toyota Camry debuted at Texas Motor Speedway in May, where Wallace finished 17th. The Greensboro, N.C. native has since used this car to record finishes of 16th at Dover International Speedway in May, 21st and 11th, respectively, at Kentucky Speedway Nashville Superspeedway in July. Most recently, Wallace raced this chassis to an eighth-place finish at Iowa Speedway.

· Through 25 Races … With 25 races of the 2011 season in the record books, Wallace has accumulated two top-five, five top 10 and 13 top-15 finishes, an average starting position of 13.4 and an average finish of 15.8. Wallace has completed 97.8 percent of the laps contested (4,452 of 4,552) thus far.

· Get to the Points … Wallace is currently ranked eighth in the NASCAR Nationwide Series driver point standings, 16 in arrears to seventh-place driver Kenny Wallace. Over the last month, the 24-year-old driver has shaved 50 points off his deficit to his uncle.

· Wallace at Atlanta … In four NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Wallace boasts two top-25 finishes. His best result at the 1.54-mile oval is 18th, where he finished in March of 2008.

· Are You Experienced? … In addition to his four previous Nationwide Series starts at the 1.54-mile oval, Wallace has also competed in a Camping World Truck Series race at Atlanta.
“Atlanta Motor Speedway is a track where we haven’t run as well as we’d like in the Nationwide Series. It’s a fast track with a lot of options, there are multiple lines and a driver can compensate for some handling issues by changing lines. The pavement is worn out, so there isn’t a ton of grip, so you’ve got to hustle the car around the place. It’s just a lot of fun to race there.” – Steve Wallace on racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway

Blountville’s Nate Monteith said on Friday that he is hoping to put together a sponsorship deal that would allow him to run the Camping World Truck Series event at Bristol Motor Speedway in August.

Monteith, who was preparing to run a Late Model race at Kingsport Speedway, has run a pair of truck races at BMS in recent years, both for owner Billy Ballew. He is hoping to put something together in time for the O’Reilly 200, but added that the deal could extend beyond the truck race.

“We’re talking with some corporate sponsors right now – one of them is going to be here tonight – trying to put something together to run the Bristol truck race and maybe some stuff on the regional/national level,” Monteith said. “To run good tonight would be really good for us with him here.”

Race: Bully Hill Vineyards 200

Date: April 22, 2011

Location: Nashville Superspeedway

Justin Johnson

No. 51 Wounded Warrior Project / Vision Airlines Toyota Tundra

Race Notes and Quotes

Last Race: After starting from the 26th position at Martinsville Speedway Johnson made his way to the front in no time, mixing it up with the top-10. On lap 137 the bad luck bug bit Johnson for the second race in a row and, after being caught up in an incident that took him and his team out of contention, he went on to finish 31st.

This Week’s Chassis: Chassis No.035 will be running this week in Nashville and has already seen a very active 2011 race season. Johnson ran this chassis at Phoenix International Raceway and Martinsville Speedway where he finished 8th and 31st, respectively.

Making a Ruckus: Johnson competed in the Ruckus House Scholarship Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament in Charlotte, North Carolina during his off week where he rubbed elbows with other athletes and stars, all for a good cause. The Ruckus House Scholarship Foundation benefits high-school graduates or college students who want to pursue a career in education.

Wounded Warrior Project: Johnson’s sponsor, Wounded Warrior Project, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to honoring and empowering wounded servicemen and women. Wounded Warrior Project aims to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded warriors in the nation’s history. To learn more about how you can help visit woundedwarriorproject.org.

What are your thoughts on racing at Nashville Superspeedway?

“It will be my first time racing at Nashville, so I am excited to check it out. But to be honest, I am just excited to have a chance to win that guitar, that thing is awesome. It’s probably the coolest trophy on the circuit.”

We’ll be racing in Music City. Tell me a little bit about your musical taste?

“I like all kinds of music, really I like everything. You can find a range of artists on my iPod, anywhere from Breaking Benjamin, to Akon, to Brad Paisley. I actually taught Brad Paisley how to drive a Corvette when I was working at the Ron Fellows Driving School. He brought his whole band out to the school and then we got to go to one of his shows in Vegas. That was cool.”

This past week you played in a celebrity golf tournament for the Ruckus House and volunteered at the Special Olympics, what do you enjoy most about those sorts of activities?

“I enjoy giving back to the community but I also enjoy being able to doing something different. Your life can get pretty routine working in this industry and it’s nice to get out and participate in those sort of activities. Plus it’s always for a good cause and that makes it even better.”

Vision Aviation Racing (VAR) NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Notes

Where’s Dusty: One noticeable difference to the VAR lineup for this week’s upcoming Nashville event will be the absence of Justin’s teammate, Dusty Davis. The No. 15 VAR Toyota Tundra wasn’t able to secure sponsorship that would allow the rookie driver to run this weekend in Nashville. VAR plans to run Davis in a limited schedule for 2011 and is currently seeking partnership opportunities that will put Davis back in the driver’s seat.

Although disappointed that the sponsorship planned for Nashville didn’t quite materialize in time for this weekend’s race, Davis realizes just how important it is to find the right partners for long-term success in NASCAR. “Everyone at Vision has been working really hard to put the right deals together. The team and I just have to be patient while that process takes place. We have some things in the works, it just takes time to find the right fit for everyone,” commented Davis.

Crew Member Spotlight: Berwick, Pennsylvania native, Chris Whitenight moved to the Charlotte, North Carolina area in 2006 to attend the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he graduated in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Whitenight then went to work for Billy Ballew Motorsports as Team Engineer. He continues in that role today for the newly formed VAR where he handles both the No.51 and No.15 teams. Long hours and late nights at the shop are only a part of Whitenight’s dedication to racing as he also races an asphalt modified when back home in the Northeast.

Special Olympics: It was a fiesta at the Boys and Girls Club in Concord, North Carolina this past weekend as the Special Olympics celebrated this year’s games with their annual dance. The Special Olympics organization is dedicated to giving individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in sports and physical activities that will help promote growth and prosperity among its athletes. Justin Johnson and Dusty Davis were on hand to sign autographs and participate in the fun. “It was awesome to hang out with the Special Olympics athletes at this year’s fiesta dance. We had so much fun. I admire them for their dedication and I was honored to be there,” said Davis.

Meet the Drivers: Be sure to stop by the NCWTS autograph session on April 22nd at Nashville Superspeedway where Justin Johnson and Dusty Davis will be signing from 1:00-2:00PM.

Social Media: Want to be in on all the latest news from VAR? Follow us on Twitter at @VARacing, @JustinJohnson51, @DustyDavis7, and at Facebook.com/visionaviationracing. Don’t forget to visit our website, www.visionaviationracing.com, for driver bios, photo galleries, and much more!

Air Time: Catch all the action LIVE on SPEED starting at 7:30PM/ET on April 22nd, 2011. The race will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius XM Satellite Radio starting at 7:45PM/ET.

Vision Aviation Racing:

Vision Aviation Racing is located near the metro Charlotte, North Carolina area. Still in its early days, the team has already proven to be a winning platform. In 2011, VAR went to victory lane at Daytona in their first ever Camping World Truck Series start with driver Michael Waltrip behind the wheel. Full time VAR driver, Justin Johnson, won the championship in the 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series while teammate Dusty Davis finished a strong second. Overall the Vision Aviation Racing squad earned a win percentage of 74% over the 19-race season. 2011 is the team’s first season in the Camping World Truck Series.

Vision Airlines:

Vision Airlines started in 1994 offering aerial tours of the Grand Canyon. Over the past 16 years, Vision Airlines’ fleet expanded to include Boeing 767′s, Boeing 737′s, Dornier 328 and Dornier 228 turbo prop aircraft. Vision Airlines has become one of the premier charter airlines in the United States. The company’s clients include US Presidential candidates, heads of state, countless celebrities, Fortune 1000 companies and some of the world’s most-recognized resorts. The company’s headquarters is located in Suwanee, GA. It also maintains offices in Las Vegas, NV; Louisville, KY and Miami, FL.

Wounded Warrior Project:

The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) is to honor and empower wounded warriors. WWP’s purpose is to raise awareness and to enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs. The last race of the Camping World Truck Series season was the seventh start for 18-year-old Long. Earning three top-20 finishes in 2010, Long is actively seeking sponsorship for the 2011 season with Panhandle Motorsports. The goal is to run a full Rookie season and continue to make progress on speedway tracks.

Long Comfortable in Her Own Backyard

A Blizzard Series Champion in late models in 2009, Johanna was the pole-sitter in last year’s Snowball Derby. It will be her third entry into the grueling race, known in the motorsports circles as the “Super Bowl of Short Track” for its history and list of winners over the years. She will compete in the December 4th Allen Turner Snowflake 100, as well as field her Super Late Model car for the 43rd Annual Snowball Derby on Sunday, December 5th. After 22 starts in 2010 in different stock car Series, she’s logged five top-Fives and 10 top-10 finishes – giving her momentum to keep putting knowledge under her belt.

“I’m so excited to be home, in my very own backyard of racing,” said Johanna. “Racing in the Truck Series was awesome this year, and I learned so much from drivers, crews and the tracks themselves. There is such a difference between a Late Model and a Truck, and once I passed that learning curve, it was easier to focus on the speedway knowledge. Now we’re focusing on 2011 plans – but first, the Derby!

Testing…Testing…1,2,3,4 FIVE Flags

Johanna was able to get back into her short track “seat” in the No.10 Panhandle Motorsports car the week prior to the Snowball Derby at her home track of Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola. She was joined on track by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver David Ragan, who caught laps for the day and is making his Derby debut. Pensacola’s own Eddie Mercer and Logan Boyette also tested their Super Late Model cars at Five Flags Speedway that day.

Quick Facts – It’s All in the Numbers

Engine: 358 Cubic Inches

Horsepower: 650-700

Super Late Models:

Engine: 360 Cubic Inches

Horsepower: 500-600

Panhandle Motorsports is again enlisting the help of veteran crew chief Kevin ‘Cowboy’ Starland at the Derby races this year on the No. 10 car. Starland normally handles the truck chief duties for the No. 20 Panhandle Motorsports Toyota Tundra for Johanna in the NCWTS. Starland, well-known as crew chief for the No.15 Billy Ballew Motorsports (BBM) truck, has the benefit of working with drivers such as Johnny Benson, Steven Wallace & Nelson Piquet, Jr. Long will also be joined in Pensacola by many of her NASCAR crew and friends.

Busy as a Bee:

The hometown fan favorite has a busy week ahead of her, with radio interviews and local appearances beckoning. Johanna locally visited Bob Tyler Toyota-Scion-Suzuki in Pensacola on Tuesday, November 30th, as well as hit the annual Speed51 Beef O’Brady’s night. She will also be on local radio, as well as Sirius XM NASCAR’s Tradin’ Paint on Friday at 12:30pmET.

(November 15, 2010) - The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) will conclude its 2010 campaign this Friday night at the 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway. It’s been a banner season for Aric Almirola and the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports team. Almirola collected two NCWTS wins (Dover and Michigan) and is poised to conclude the year second in the final point standings. Almirola aims to seal his season with another win in this week’s Ford 200.

The No. 51 team has competed at Homestead-Miami Speedway three times. With Kyle Busch at the wheel, they have achieved two top-five finishes. Their best showing came in 2007, when Busch crossed the finish line in second-place.

Almirola has four starts under his belt at Homestead – one Sprint Cup Series start, one Nationwide Series start and two NCWTS starts. His best finish came in last season’s Truck Series race, which he finished in 14th-place.

Almirola will be riding with a new sponsor on his Toyota for the Ford 200. The Riverside Cafe will be supporting the BBM No. 51 team. Riverside Cafe is located in Vero Beach, Florida. The cafe has Live Entertainment 7 nights a week. Happy Hour everyday from 4-7. They also have 20 big screen TVs with ALL of the sports packages. They are located underneath the route 60 bridge right on the beautiful Indian River. For more info please visit our website at www.riversidecafe.com.

“It’s been a great year for everyone on the 51 team. We’ve won races and contended for the championship. That’s what every driver hopes for. Every time we showed up for a race, I knew we had a chance to win. I want to thank all of the guys on my team for all of their hard work and dedication. They’ve given me awesome trucks all year long. We aren’t going to win the championship, but hopefully we can go out with a win.

“Congratulations to Todd Bodine and his team. Those guys have done a tremendous job this year. Todd’s a great driver and I really enjoyed competing against him. He’s a hard racer and is one of the guys to beat at nearly every track we go to; that’s what made this championship battle so much fun.

“We’re going to make sure we get second wrapped up this weekend. That will end a good season for us and Billy Ballew. We had a lot of good races, a couple of wins and to finish second in the championship isn’t bad at all. I want to do that for the team this weekend. Another good run will do that, and we’re aiming for the win.

“I think you’re going to see everyone going for it this weekend. There’s no reason for anyone to really play it safe or to go into conservation mode. It should be a really exciting race. This is everyone’s last chance to win in 2010 in the trucks.

“We definitely want to end on a strong note. There would be no better way to wrap up the season than to be in victory lane. But, no matter how the season ends, I’ll be proud to have worked with this team all season. Richie and the guys worked hard and did a lot to put us in position to win. I’ll have memories of this season for a long, long time.”

About Billy Ballew Motorsports:

BBM started competing full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2002 and has had a variety of well known NASCAR drivers over the years. The list includes Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Aric Almirola, Brian Ickler, John Andretti, Kenny Wallace, Paul Menard, Bill Lester, Geoffrey Bodine, Joe Ruttman and a host of others. It was Shane Hmiel who piloted the No. 15 for the 2004 season that brought Billy Ballew his first win at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the team’s 100th start in the NCWTS. Since then Billy Ballew Motorsports has taken 18 more trips to victory lane.

Driving the No.20 Panhandle Motorsports Toyota Tundra, she’ll be bringing a little “snowball” to sunny Miami by featuring a decal of the historic late model weekend – the 43rd Annual Snowball Derby. Held at Five Flags Speedway from December 1st-5th, 2010, Long, the defending Blizzard Series champion, will be driving her late model in the weekend’s races. After Miami-Homestead (her seventh NCWTS attempt in 2010), Long is also hopeful for a Rookie year in 2011 if the right marketing partner can come along.

Continuing the Girl Scouts partnership this year, Long will also take on two of the local Girl Scouts – from Girl Scouts Council of Tropical Florida – as “honorary pit crew” members for the team at the Ford 200. Long partnered at each track this year with a local council, speaking about her journey in motorsports, hard work and determination in whatever they choose to do in life. She will also have her “honorary pit crew” members cross the stage with her at driver introductions.
“I’m excited to have the Snowball Derby decal on the truck this weekend,” said Long. “Late models are my roots, my comfort zone and my first love, so it’s nice to be able to showcase the Derby where I’m racing now – the Truck Series.

The Snowball Derby is a tough week of racing, and I look forward to it every year. A lot of people know me from the Derby and the Blizzard Series – so it’s nice to show where I came from in the sport. I’m looking forward to shedding some light on these races, as well as my home track of Five Flags Speedway. Plus, it might give me a little luck going into the weekend!”

Johanna Long

Long will make her seventh career NCWTS start at Homestead-Miami Speedway, while juggling the preparations for the upcoming legendary Snowball Derby. A native of Pensacola, Fla., she began her racing career in go-karts at eight years old and then moved on to Legends cars. She then made the big jump to the Pro Late Model division as a 15-year-old at her home track of Five Flags Speedway. She posted three wins and became the youngest track champion – in the long history of Five Flags Speedway. She won at other tracks as well enhancing her racing reputation and move up another level to the Super Late Model division where she competed against and often beat her father Donald, an accomplished racer in the now-defunct All-Pro Series.

This season she made another major jump in the racing ranks, moving to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with Panhandle Motorsport – running a limited schedule this year to gain track knowledge and experience on the Speedways. Her season-best finish of 17th came at Indianapolis Raceway Park. She also has qualified among the top 20 in all six of her previous starts, with a top qualification of 9th at Texas Motor Speedway in November.

“I have such great people around me this year, teaching me so much about the tracks. Plus, it has been really awesome to get support from so many of the veteran drivers, all of whom don’t hesitate to get me in a car to do track walks. I’m really hopeful for a Rookie season in 2011 – it’s time to show what I can do with a full year. We’re looking for marketing partners now, and it’s critical for that to happen. If anyone out there wants to help support our efforts, please be in touch – let’s keep this momentum going!”

ABOUT DRIVER JOHANNA LONG & PANHANDLE MOTORSPORTS:

Johanna Long, 18, is the youngest driver in the elite NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Her career to date has included racing in NCWTS in 2010 with family race team Panhandle Motorsports in Las Vegas, Martinsville & Texas Motor Speedway; as well as three starts with Billy Ballew Motorsports in the NCWTS; and two starts in 2009 in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. (November 9, 2010) - The No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports (BBM) team has been a picture of consistency this season. With driver Aric Almirola at the helm, the team has scored 11 consecutive top-10 finishes that date back to Pocono Raceway in July. Throughout the streak, Almirola has scored six top-fives and finished in the runner-up spot twice. He aims to add an exclamation point to the streak in this week’s Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR).

Based on BBM and Almirola’s past at the “Desert Jewel,” PIR seems to be a perfect venue for the team to capture its third win of 2010. The No. 51 team has a near-perfect record at PIR. In its three previous events at the one-mile oval, the BBM squad has one win and two second-place finishes.

Almirola has two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events under his belt at PIR. He finished third last season driving the No. 15 BBM truck.

Almirola Comments on PIR and the No. 51 Team’s Top-10 Streak

“Phoenix is a tricky race track. It has elements that make it seem like a short track, a road course and an intermediate track all wrapped into one configuration. There are cookie cutter tracks, then there’s Phoenix. It’s tight and cramped, almost like Martinsville. There’ are five left turns and somehow it’s still an oval track. It keeps you sawing on the wheel for the entire race. It can be really tough on your brakes, so you’ve got to keep that in mind and make sure that you’re saving your equipment to be its best at the end.

“There’s no such thing as the perfect setup for Phoenix. Its corners are so different that you’ll never have a perfect balance on both sides of the track. As a driver, you have to approach each set of turns differently and adapt to the setup underneath you. It’s a challenge and that’s what makes it a lot of fun.

“We’ve had a streak of top-10 finishes dating back to Pocono. It’s a testament to our team’s hard work. The Truck Series is so competitive. On any given week, there are several teams capable of finishing inside the top-10. That’s how stacked this series is. The streak is certainly something we should be proud of. We’ve been to short tracks, intermediate tracks and superspeedways during that streak. That says a lot about our consistency and our depth.

“The only thing we’re missing in our streak is a win and hopefully we’ll take care of that this weekend at Phoenix. This team has an awesome record there and has proven they can get the job done. We’ve knocked on the door a few times recently. We were close at Bristol and Talladega. This could definitely be the race that we pick up our third ‘W’ of 2010.”

Texas Motor Speedway, it enabled Toyota to clinch its fifth consecutive NASCAR Camping
World Truck Series (NCWTS) manufacturer’s championship.

Toyota has won the NCWTS manufacturer’s championship each year since 2006, along with
a pair of driver’s titles for Todd Bodine (2006) and Johnny Benson (2008). Bodine, who currently
leads the NCWTS standings by 230 points, is seeking to capture Toyota’s third series driver’s
title.

Overall, this is the eighth time Toyota has earned a NASCAR manufacturer’s title since the
start of the 2004 season. Toyota recently also captured its third consecutive NASCAR
Nationwide Series manufacturer’s crown.

The performance of five full-time teams fielding Tundras — Billy Ballew Motorsports, Germain
Racing, Kyle Busch Motorsports, Randy Moss Motorsports and Red Horse Racing — all
contributed to the NCWTS manufacturer’s title. In addition, Stringer Motorsports ran a partial
season utilizing Tundras in 2010. This season, Tundra drivers have combined for 14 wins, 10
poles, 54 top-five results and 111 top-10 finishes with two races remaining on the schedule.

“To earn a fifth consecutive manufacturer’s championship is an accomplishment we are very
proud of, and is a testament to the commitment Toyota has — now and in the future — to the
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and to our race teams participating in the series,” said
Ed Laukes, Toyota’s corporate motorsports marketing manager. “We have been fortunate to
partner ourselves with championship-caliber teams and exceptional drivers. Our Tundra teams
continue to prove their excellence on the track.”

Series points leader Bodine (four wins), Busch (seven wins) and Aric Almirola (two wins)
have all won multiple races for Toyota this season. In addition, Timothy Peters earned his
second career victory in a Tundra at Daytona to kick off the 2010 season.

“It’s an honor to be associated with Toyota and to be a part of five straight manufacturer’s
championships,” says Bodine. “Over the last seven years, Toyota and Germain Racing have
formed a great partnership and we constantly work together to improve our on-track
performance each and every year.”

A total of 31 different drivers have participated in the Camping World Truck Series in a
Tundra this year, including five — Almirola, Bodine, Justin Lofton, Peters and Mike Skinner –
who have competed in all 23 events driving Toyotas. Skinner has raced a Tundra in every
NCWTS race since Toyota joined the series in 2004 — a total of 173 starts.
Since joining NCWTS competition in 2004, Toyota has won 79 races and captured 78 poles
in 173 races.

The California native will make his first start with the team and his third NCWTS start of the season.

Last Race: Martinsville: Bowles competed in the NCWTS event at Martinsville Speedway with Billy Ballew Motorsports, where he overcame several obstacles to secure at top-20 finish in his second appearance in the series. In his first appearance at the Virginia short track, Bowles was in contention for a strong top-10 finish before a flat tire relegated the driver to an 18th-place finish.

This Year: This season, Bowles has two NCWTS starts: Las Vegas and Martinsville. He finished 16th in his debut at Las Vegas with Germain Racing, with the goal of gaining experience and remaining on the lead lap. He grabbed a top-20 finish at Martinsville as well. Also this season, Bowles competed in three NASCAR Canadian Tire Series events, nabbing two top-five finishes. In April, Bowles made his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut at Phoenix International Speedway. The California native also made one start in the NASCAR K&N East Series and two starts in the NASCAR K&N West Series.

Racing Experience: Bowles competed in the K&N West Series full-time from 2007-2009 and select events this season. He won nine races, 10 poles, 26 top-fives, 32 top-10s, Rookie of the Year and went on to win the 2009 Championship. Bowles also made history in 2009, where his average finish of 4.2 was the best in series history since 1995 for drivers with 13 or more starts. Bowles began racing go-karts in 1994 and gained experience driving in the Cooper Tires Zetec Championship and the Grand-Am Cup ST class. Bowles soon transitioned from open-wheel racing to stock cars and competed in a late model and the NASCAR K&N West Series.

Pursuing a Dream: Last year, Bowles moved from his home state of California to pursue racing in the motorsports hub of the Charlotte area. He also works as a full-time employee for Oakley Sunglasses, an apparel company where he works as a sales representative for the motorsports division. Bowles hopes to continue to gain experience in NASCAR’s highest series’.

Team Partnership: Eddie Sharp Racing and Team Gill Racing will team up for the remainder of the 2010 NCWTS season. The two teams hope to work together in preparation for competitive racing beyond this season.

Follow the Action: Be sure to follow all of the action on and off the track this weekend at www.facebook.com/TeamESR and www.twitter.com/TeamESR, and follow Jason at www.twitter.com/BowlesJason.

Tune In: The WinStar World Casino 350 will be broadcast live on Friday night beginning at 7:30 p.m. CDT (8:30 p.m. EST) on SPEED. Audio coverage will also be live on MRN affiliates beginning at 7:45 p.m. CDT (8:45 p.m. EST).

Bowles On Competing at TMS:

“I’m really excited about competing this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. I think that it is going to be a good weekend. It is always a process to create chemistry with a new team, but I have been to the shop, and I am really looking forward to working with the guys on the team. I think my experience on 1.5-mile tracks is going to really help, since it will be my second race on one in a truck this season. I think the key to performing well is to get the truck to drive good on a long run. I’m really looking forward to this weekend.”

About Eddie Sharp Racing

(November 1, 2010) – Aric Almirola and the 2010 edition of the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports team have stamped their legacy on the storied Billy Ballew Motorsports organization. Almirola and the No. 51 team’s streak of 10 consecutive top-10 finishes in consecutive races, which dates back to July, is a record for the Toyota team. Although Kyle Busch has more top-10′s in the No. 51 truck, Almirola’s consecutive streak is equally impressive as the team sits second in championship points.

This weekend, Almirola and the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota team head to the fast, 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway for Friday night’s WinStar World Casino 350K. Almirola comes to the track after earning his ninth top-five of the season last weekend at the Talladega Superspeedway.

“We have had a good season so far, and right now, we just want to go out and win races. That was our goal at the start of the season. We knew we wanted to go out and race for the championship and to win races. We’ve done all that so far. We have two wins, a lot of top-five finishes and we’ve got a good streak going right now. So, this weekend our game plan is pretty much the same.

“Richie (Wauters) and the guys on this team have worked really hard and have put together fast trucks for me all season. Our trucks at the mile-and-a-half tracks have been pretty good. We’ve unloaded and been fast all year, and the times we haven’t, we’ve worked on them and have been good during the race. I feel confident about this weekend.

“Texas is a fast track, and with this being a night race, the track always has a lot of grip. I’m going to have a lot of laps on the track before the race between the truck, Nationwide car and the Cup car this weekend. That’s going to help because I’ll be able to keep up with the track as the day goes along on Friday.”

“Our goal is to go win the race and gain as many points as possible. We took a bunch of points last weekend from Todd (Bodine), and hopefully we’re in position to do that again this weekend. It’s going to be a busy weekend, but chasing this truck championship is something we came in to do at the start of the season. I’m going to keep fighting.”

20th, Max Papis

ARIC ALMIROLA, No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota Tundra, Billy Ballew Motorsports

Starting Position: 5th

Do you have a good truck?

“Yeah, it’s a really good truck, man. I’m proud of Richie Wauters (crew chief) and all the guys on this team. They’ve been doing a really good job and our truck is really fast. Qualifying fifth, it is what it is, but our truck in the draft is really good.”

CHRIS FONTAINE, No. 84 Glenden Enterprises Toyota Tundra, Glenden Enterprises

Starting Position: 6th

TODD BODINE, No. 30 Valvoline Toyota Tundra, Germain Racing

Starting Position: 10th

How is your truck?

“The truck is good. It drives good, does everything we need and that’s the important thing. We knew it wasn’t going to qualify that great, but we were willing to sacrifice that for the race. I think we’ll be good tomorrow.”

DAVID STARR, No. 81 Zachry Toyota Tundra, SS Green Light Racing

Starting Position: 13th

TIMOTHY PETERS, No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra, Red Horse Racing

Starting Position: 15th

How was your truck in practice?

“It was good in practice. We have the same truck as Daytona in February. We got pushed pretty good and we were able to push really good. I’m really excited about coming back, especially with this truck, the way it ran in Daytona. It picked up in practice where we left off in Daytona. We ran better in qualifying when it counted than when we mocked up earlier today, so it’s going to be okay when we get our Toyota Tundra in race trim tomorrow. We’ll be there at the end.”

MIKE SKINNER, No. 5 Exide Toyota Tundra, Randy Moss Motorsports

Starting Position: 16th

JUSTIN LOFTON, No. 7 visitPIT.com Toyota Tundra, Red Horse Racing

Starting Position: 17th

How was your truck in practice?

“The truck was good. We unloaded pretty good and we picked up about three-tenths between practice and qualifying, so that’s always a good sign, especially at this type of speedway race. Other than that, it’s really hard to tell. The power felt good and the handling felt good. It is what it is.”

KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 Traxxas Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports

Starting Position: 18th

How was your truck in race trim?

“The truck has been fine in race trim. It hasn’t quite sucked up as well as we wanted it to. Qualifying for Toyotas isn’t necessarily our strong suit, so we’ll take what we get here and just go onto the race.”

CRAIG GOESS JR., No. 46 Greenville Toyota Tundra, Team Gill Racing

Starting Position: 19th

MAX PAPIS, No. 9 GEICO Toyota Tundra, Germain Racing

Starting Position: 20th

How did your truck draft in practice?

“It drafted really good in practice and we didn’t do any qualifying laps because here it is useless to do qualifying laps. It was as I was expecting. Maybe a little slow by itself, but it’s gonna be a good pusher and it’s going to be hiding its nose and go to the front. I really think that we’ve got a good piece for the race.”

(October 26, 2010) – The Talladega Superspeedway is a track where you can’t win alone, and nobody knows that more than Aric Almirola and the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota team. Last year the organization finished first and second with Almirola “pushing” Kyle Busch to the victory. At that time, Busch was piloting the No. 51 truck, but this season Almirola occupies that seat where he currently sits second in Camping World Truck Series points with two wins.

Almirola and the No. 51 team head back to the 2.66-mile superspeedway this weekend for Saturday’s Mountain Dew 250. The team will be the only entry for Billy Ballew Motorsports, meaning finding a drafting partner will become critical for Saturday’s race.

Saturday’s race will be Almirola’s third Camping World Truck Series event at the track. Almirola and the team carry a streak of nine consecutive top-10 finishes into the race.

Aric Almirola - Photo Credit: Sam Greenwood / Getty Images for NASCAR

Comments from Aric Almirola Heading into Talladega:

“At the end of the day, if you have a fast truck, I don’t think it will matter that we won’t have a teammate out there. Guys will always go with the others who have fast trucks. They are the ones who can either push or draft with you to the front. I’m pretty confident in the fact that Richie (crew chief Richie Wauters) and the guys have prepared another great truck for this weekend. This team is the defending winner of this race and our goal is to win again.

“I feel that I’ve always raced everyone fairly and clean. I looked at our truck after Martinsville, and it barely had a scratch on it. That means we didn’t make any enemies. That’s the type of stuff that helps when you come to a track where you need partners to get and stay up front. I don’t have a problem with the guys I’ve been racing up front with all season. Guys like Todd (Bodine), Johnny (Sauter), Ron (Hornaday) and everyone like that. We all respect each other and trust each other. That’s important going into a place like Talladega.

“It’s going to be another typical Talladega race. The first half you just want to make sure the truck is as comfortable as possible. The last half you’re getting yourself into position. The last lap you race for the win. You can’t predict what’s going to happen, but if you’re up front than the odds are usually better for staying out the mess. Our goal is to be right there and hopefully we can get another win for this team.”
