Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Atlanta Motor Speedway — September 2, 2011

- Two Tundra drivers — Kyle Busch (third) and Todd Bodine (ninth) — registered top-10 finishes in Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

- Tundra drivers Max Papis (14th), Timothy Peters (16th), David Starr (17th) and Brendan Gaughan (18th) posted top-20 results in Atlanta.

- Other Toyota drivers in the field included Josh Richards (21st), Miguel Paludo (22nd), Justin Lofton (26th) and Johanna Long (31st).

- Peters remains third in the unofficial NCWTS point standings and is now 14 points out of first place.

KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 Dollar General Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports

Finishing Position: 3rd

How was your race tonight?

“It was a really good race and certainly we had a good truck. It was definitely a second-place truck. The guys here on this Dollar General Tundra did a good job — just wasn’t the best. Just want to say that Dollar General has their ‘Race in to Win’ sweepstakes going on and people check out their local Dollar Generals and enter for their chance to win a trip to Champions week in Vegas. Big plus for those guys. Can’t say enough about M&M’s, Flexco, NOS Energy Drink and all our partners.”

What was the racing like with Clint Bowyer?

“It was kind of a deal where whoever got out front first seemed to be able to lead. He passed me there later in the run. Their stuff is just so good. Three years in a row here it’s been the case. I think I had it going on with (Billy) Ballew and then these guys have been able to take it over from me. Congrats to (Ron) Hornaday for winning — it’s good to see the old man back in victory lane and a good weekend for those guys.”

What did you learn in tonight’s race to use the rest of the weekend?

“I think the biggest thing is just understanding how hard to push the cars in the beginning of the run or trucks in the beginning of the run and how much that’s going to hurt you on the long run. On those restarts we’re flat out sideways with each other and pushing as hard as we can. You seem to burn your tires off faster and then they start getting away from you. Then on that last run of the race, I could kind of run them back down because I wasn’t battling everybody. I had my own race track and I didn’t have to worry about people. We had a good night, but hopefully we can carry that on throughout the weekend.”

Were you worried that Clint Bowyer was trying to wreck you?

“I’m glad he (Clint Bowyer) refrained from orders and not wreck me, but he tried a couple times. I was just able to hang on — no. It was hard racing. Certainly, we’re battling for it with the 2 truck and we understand that’s our focus. We’re trying to make sure that we’re doing our things right as well. Tonight, same as last year, (Kevin) Harvick was by far the best truck and we just tried to minimize damages. We did that here this week. Unfortunately, the last two weeks we weren’t very smart and we didn’t do that.”

TODD BODINE, No. 5 International Toyota Tundra, Randy Moss Motorsports

Finishing Position: 9th

How did your truck handle tonight?

“We missed it just a little bit. We weren’t too bad. It was just too tight on exit. I couldn’t carry my momentum off the corner. We were good in, good through the middle, but we went with a whole different kind of setup and it wasn’t too bad, but just not fast enough to keep up.”

Were you surprised the race came down to fuel mileage?

“Atlanta usually is this way. Not for the trucks so much, but for the other divisions. I would have never thought it was going to go the rest of the way without a caution, but it did.”

MAX PAPIS, No. 9 GEICO Toyota Tundra, Germain Racing

Finishing Position: 14th

TIMOTHY PETERS, No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra, Red Horse Racing

Finishing Position: 16th

DAVID STARR, No. 81 Zachry Toyota Tundra, SS Green Light Racing

Finishing Position: 17th

BRENDAN GAUGHAN, No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Toyota Tundra, Germain Racing

Finishing Position: 18th

How did you truck handling tonight?

“Our Tundras at Germain need a lot of work still. We made our way up through the field in the middle of it a little bit, but just too loose all night and everybody knows Atlanta loosens up at night and we were loose in practice so we knew we were going to be loose tonight. We tried.”

JOSH RICHARDS, No. 15 Joy Mining Machinery Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports

Finishing Position: 21st

How was your race tonight?

“We were really good. We just kind of on the restart there we got stuck in the middle and lost a bunch of ground and I just sped on that last green flag pit stop, but everybody did an awesome job. I had a really good truck. Just me getting used to the track. We were a little bit free in the center. Just me working around it, but I felt like we definitely had a top-10 truck, top-12 and we’re making gains. I had a blast racing here. ”

How did you save the truck late in the race?

“I don’t even know. That last restart I just drove through the middle just trying to keep momentum up and I was pushed a little bit. I got into the truck in front of me and then it got me loose and the track was straightening back out. We got banged around the little bit. The truck looks like it w as at Bristol, but it was fun. It was an awesome place to race today.”

MIGUEL PALUDO, No. 7 STEMCO / Duroline Toyota Tundra, Red Horse Racing

Finishing Position: 22nd

JUSTIN LOFTON, No. 6 CollegeComplete.com Toyota Tundra, Eddie Sharp Racing

Finishing Position: 26th

JOHANNA LONG, No. 20 Panhandle Grading & Paving Toyota Tundra, Panhandle Motorsports

Finishing Position: 31st

International Speedway looking like pros as the newly organized team left the grounds with solid results leaving the group itching to return to the “World Center of Racing.”

Stalled by a monstrous winter storm that nearly crippled much of the mid-west and eastern states, Brian Rose Motorsports’ tango with Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway would be stalled until Wednesday, allowing just two days for the Danny Rollins-led team to strut their stuff.

By the conclusion of day number two and using the words of some of their competition, “they are on their game.”

Unloading the No. 4 Harris Trucking / Team ASE Toyota Camry, Brian Rose, a Louisville, Kentucky native tackled the newly re-paved Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway for the first time on Wednesday afternoon. The team maneuvered the 17th fastest lap during the four-hour session by bolting his Japanese nameplate around the 2.5-mile superspeedway in 48.965 seconds or 183.805 miles per hour in a single-car run.

For Rose, the opportunity to return to Daytona is like a second chance. In 2002, the avid race car driver piloted a Bobby Hamilton Racing (BHR) Dodge Ram to an impressive third place finish after qualifying fourth. In less than a month, Rose and his posse will return to the Daytona Beach racetrack eyeing the biggest win of his racing career thus far.

“We’re pretty happy,” said Rose on Wednesday afternoon. “We’re not finished yet though. We were just shaking our No. 4 Harris Trucking / Team ASE Toyota Camry down, making sure we didn’t have any major issues. Danny (Rollins) and I will talk and I think we can deliver bigger and better things on Thursday.”

Delivering is exactly what the BRM team did the following day.

In the morning non-drafting session, Rose and his team made a mock-qualification run and blistered the track in 49.290 seconds transferring to a speed of 182.593 miles per hour, raising the team to fifth on the overall morning rundown.

Looking for a little more feedback on their Toyota, the team collectively agreed to participate in the final drafting session of the three-day test on Thursday afternoon. The primary objective for the No. 4 team was to clarify whether their automobile would draft competitively. And clearly based on the results of the drafting session, mission accomplished.

Rose’s Toyota posted the second-fastest time during the final drafting session on Thursday afternoon by whipping his No. 4 Harris Trucking / Team ASE Toyota Camry around the historic track in 48.664 seconds or 184.942 miles per hour.

The lap was strong enough to send the team packing and head back home with just a little over an hour and a half remaining in the ARCA open-test.

“I don’t think we could of asked for anything more during the test,” sounded Rose. “I was hoping that missing a day would not hurt our Brian Rose Motorsports team. We knew that we had to bust our tails to make sure we accomplished what we wanted to do and I believe we did that and more.”

He continued, “I cannot thank Danny (Rollins) and the entire team for their efforts this week. It’s without a doubt had it’s trying moments with the weather and whatnot but we stuck it out and we’re happy with what we produced.”

Rose also mentioned what it meant to him to be rekindled with Rollins, who called the shots in his rookie year for BHR. “Man, I can’t say enough about Danny,” Rose admitted. “It’s like our chemistry never disappeared. He taught me a few things about these ARCA cars and once I was able to find our comfort zone, our speed increased and the rest was literally history. Hopefully we can come back here in a couple weeks and pick up right where we left off from here.”

Rollins, well respected in the NASCAR community will return as the crew chief for Brian Rose Motorsports. Rollins was the man responsible for guiding the young-gun to his first career NASCAR top-five finish at Daytona (Fla.) Speedway nearly nine years ago.

Harris Trucking and Team ASE have leaped aboard as marketing partners in the No. 4 Toyota Camry for the first of 19 events on the 2011 ARS calendar, but the freshman team is planning to announce more supporters in the next couple of weeks leading up to ARCA’s biggest race of the season.

About Brian Rose Motorsports (BRM):

From 2001-2010, Brian Rose competed in 41 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) events. Driving for successful car owners such as the late Bobby Hamilton Sr., Billy Ballew and Rick Ware, he has scored five top-10 finishes including a third place effort in his restrictor plate debut at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway after qualifying fourth in 2002. Rose has controlled the NCWTS field for 35 laps in four events.

A new decade means a new beginning. In 2011, Rose, a native of Louisville, Kentucky will re-brand himself in the racing world by launching his own team, Brian Rose Motorsports (BRM) near Louisville, Kentucky. With the intent to run a full platter of events in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), NASCAR Nationwide Series and Late Model events across the country, Rose is expected to blossom back to the top on and off the race track.

Stay tuned for a new Brian Rose Motorsports website parked at BrianRoseMotorsports.com.

For her first year NASCAR, the youngest competitor in motorsports’ top three elite Series had a strong 20th place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 19th. The last race of the Camping World Truck Series season was the seventh start for 18-year-old Long. Earning three top-20 finishes in 2010, Long is actively seeking sponsorship for the 2011 season with Panhandle Motorsports. The goal is to run a full Rookie season and continue to make progress on speedway tracks.

Long Comfortable in Her Own Backyard

A Blizzard Series Champion in late models in 2009, Johanna was the pole-sitter in last year’s Snowball Derby. It will be her third entry into the grueling race, known in the motorsports circles as the “Super Bowl of Short Track” for its history and list of winners over the years. She will compete in the December 4th Allen Turner Snowflake 100, as well as field her Super Late Model car for the 43rd Annual Snowball Derby on Sunday, December 5th. After 22 starts in 2010 in different stock car Series, she’s logged five top-Fives and 10 top-10 finishes – giving her momentum to keep putting knowledge under her belt.

“I’m so excited to be home, in my very own backyard of racing,” said Johanna. “Racing in the Truck Series was awesome this year, and I learned so much from drivers, crews and the tracks themselves. There is such a difference between a Late Model and a Truck, and once I passed that learning curve, it was easier to focus on the speedway knowledge. Now we’re focusing on 2011 plans – but first, the Derby!

Testing…Testing…1,2,3,4 FIVE Flags

Johanna was able to get back into her short track “seat” in the No.10 Panhandle Motorsports car the week prior to the Snowball Derby at her home track of Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola. She was joined on track by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver David Ragan, who caught laps for the day and is making his Derby debut. Pensacola’s own Eddie Mercer and Logan Boyette also tested their Super Late Model cars at Five Flags Speedway that day.

(November 15, 2010) - The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) will conclude its 2010 campaign this Friday night at the 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway. It’s been a banner season for Aric Almirola and the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports team. Almirola collected two NCWTS wins (Dover and Michigan) and is poised to conclude the year second in the final point standings. Almirola aims to seal his season with another win in this week’s Ford 200.

The No. 51 team has competed at Homestead-Miami Speedway three times. With Kyle Busch at the wheel, they have achieved two top-five finishes. Their best showing came in 2007, when Busch crossed the finish line in second-place.

Almirola has four starts under his belt at Homestead – one Sprint Cup Series start, one Nationwide Series start and two NCWTS starts. His best finish came in last season’s Truck Series race, which he finished in 14th-place.

Almirola will be riding with a new sponsor on his Toyota for the Ford 200. The Riverside Cafe will be supporting the BBM No. 51 team. Riverside Cafe is located in Vero Beach, Florida. The cafe has Live Entertainment 7 nights a week. Happy Hour everyday from 4-7. They also have 20 big screen TVs with ALL of the sports packages. They are located underneath the route 60 bridge right on the beautiful Indian River. For more info please visit our website at www.riversidecafe.com.

“It’s been a great year for everyone on the 51 team. We’ve won races and contended for the championship. That’s what every driver hopes for. Every time we showed up for a race, I knew we had a chance to win. I want to thank all of the guys on my team for all of their hard work and dedication. They’ve given me awesome trucks all year long. We aren’t going to win the championship, but hopefully we can go out with a win.

“Congratulations to Todd Bodine and his team. Those guys have done a tremendous job this year. Todd’s a great driver and I really enjoyed competing against him. He’s a hard racer and is one of the guys to beat at nearly every track we go to; that’s what made this championship battle so much fun.

“We’re going to make sure we get second wrapped up this weekend. That will end a good season for us and Billy Ballew. We had a lot of good races, a couple of wins and to finish second in the championship isn’t bad at all. I want to do that for the team this weekend. Another good run will do that, and we’re aiming for the win.

“I think you’re going to see everyone going for it this weekend. There’s no reason for anyone to really play it safe or to go into conservation mode. It should be a really exciting race. This is everyone’s last chance to win in 2010 in the trucks.

“We definitely want to end on a strong note. There would be no better way to wrap up the season than to be in victory lane. But, no matter how the season ends, I’ll be proud to have worked with this team all season. Richie and the guys worked hard and did a lot to put us in position to win. I’ll have memories of this season for a long, long time.”

About Billy Ballew Motorsports:

(November 9, 2010) - The No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports (BBM) team has been a picture of consistency this season. With driver Aric Almirola at the helm, the team has scored 11 consecutive top-10 finishes that date back to Pocono Raceway in July. Throughout the streak, Almirola has scored six top-fives and finished in the runner-up spot twice. He aims to add an exclamation point to the streak in this week’s Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR).

Based on BBM and Almirola’s past at the “Desert Jewel,” PIR seems to be a perfect venue for the team to capture its third win of 2010. The No. 51 team has a near-perfect record at PIR. In its three previous events at the one-mile oval, the BBM squad has one win and two second-place finishes.

Almirola has two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events under his belt at PIR. He finished third last season driving the No. 15 BBM truck.

Almirola Comments on PIR and the No. 51 Team’s Top-10 Streak

“Phoenix is a tricky race track. It has elements that make it seem like a short track, a road course and an intermediate track all wrapped into one configuration. There are cookie cutter tracks, then there’s Phoenix. It’s tight and cramped, almost like Martinsville. There’ are five left turns and somehow it’s still an oval track. It keeps you sawing on the wheel for the entire race. It can be really tough on your brakes, so you’ve got to keep that in mind and make sure that you’re saving your equipment to be its best at the end.

“There’s no such thing as the perfect setup for Phoenix. Its corners are so different that you’ll never have a perfect balance on both sides of the track. As a driver, you have to approach each set of turns differently and adapt to the setup underneath you. It’s a challenge and that’s what makes it a lot of fun.

“We’ve had a streak of top-10 finishes dating back to Pocono. It’s a testament to our team’s hard work. The Truck Series is so competitive. On any given week, there are several teams capable of finishing inside the top-10. That’s how stacked this series is. The streak is certainly something we should be proud of. We’ve been to short tracks, intermediate tracks and superspeedways during that streak. That says a lot about our consistency and our depth.

“The only thing we’re missing in our streak is a win and hopefully we’ll take care of that this weekend at Phoenix. This team has an awesome record there and has proven they can get the job done. We’ve knocked on the door a few times recently. We were close at Bristol and Talladega. This could definitely be the race that we pick up our third ‘W’ of 2010.”

(November 1, 2010) – Aric Almirola and the 2010 edition of the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports team have stamped their legacy on the storied Billy Ballew Motorsports organization. Almirola and the No. 51 team’s streak of 10 consecutive top-10 finishes in consecutive races, which dates back to July, is a record for the Toyota team. Although Kyle Busch has more top-10′s in the No. 51 truck, Almirola’s consecutive streak is equally impressive as the team sits second in championship points.

This weekend, Almirola and the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota team head to the fast, 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway for Friday night’s WinStar World Casino 350K. Almirola comes to the track after earning his ninth top-five of the season last weekend at the Talladega Superspeedway.

“We have had a good season so far, and right now, we just want to go out and win races. That was our goal at the start of the season. We knew we wanted to go out and race for the championship and to win races. We’ve done all that so far. We have two wins, a lot of top-five finishes and we’ve got a good streak going right now. So, this weekend our game plan is pretty much the same.

“Richie (Wauters) and the guys on this team have worked really hard and have put together fast trucks for me all season. Our trucks at the mile-and-a-half tracks have been pretty good. We’ve unloaded and been fast all year, and the times we haven’t, we’ve worked on them and have been good during the race. I feel confident about this weekend.

“Texas is a fast track, and with this being a night race, the track always has a lot of grip. I’m going to have a lot of laps on the track before the race between the truck, Nationwide car and the Cup car this weekend. That’s going to help because I’ll be able to keep up with the track as the day goes along on Friday.”

“Our goal is to go win the race and gain as many points as possible. We took a bunch of points last weekend from Todd (Bodine), and hopefully we’re in position to do that again this weekend. It’s going to be a busy weekend, but chasing this truck championship is something we came in to do at the start of the season. I’m going to keep fighting.”

(October 26, 2010) – The Talladega Superspeedway is a track where you can’t win alone, and nobody knows that more than Aric Almirola and the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota team. Last year the organization finished first and second with Almirola “pushing” Kyle Busch to the victory. At that time, Busch was piloting the No. 51 truck, but this season Almirola occupies that seat where he currently sits second in Camping World Truck Series points with two wins.

Almirola and the No. 51 team head back to the 2.66-mile superspeedway this weekend for Saturday’s Mountain Dew 250. The team will be the only entry for Billy Ballew Motorsports, meaning finding a drafting partner will become critical for Saturday’s race.

Saturday’s race will be Almirola’s third Camping World Truck Series event at the track. Almirola and the team carry a streak of nine consecutive top-10 finishes into the race.

Aric Almirola - Photo Credit: Sam Greenwood / Getty Images for NASCAR

Comments from Aric Almirola Heading into Talladega:

“At the end of the day, if you have a fast truck, I don’t think it will matter that we won’t have a teammate out there. Guys will always go with the others who have fast trucks. They are the ones who can either push or draft with you to the front. I’m pretty confident in the fact that Richie (crew chief Richie Wauters) and the guys have prepared another great truck for this weekend. This team is the defending winner of this race and our goal is to win again.

“I feel that I’ve always raced everyone fairly and clean. I looked at our truck after Martinsville, and it barely had a scratch on it. That means we didn’t make any enemies. That’s the type of stuff that helps when you come to a track where you need partners to get and stay up front. I don’t have a problem with the guys I’ve been racing up front with all season. Guys like Todd (Bodine), Johnny (Sauter), Ron (Hornaday) and everyone like that. We all respect each other and trust each other. That’s important going into a place like Talladega.

“It’s going to be another typical Talladega race. The first half you just want to make sure the truck is as comfortable as possible. The last half you’re getting yourself into position. The last lap you race for the win. You can’t predict what’s going to happen, but if you’re up front than the odds are usually better for staying out the mess. Our goal is to be right there and hopefully we can get another win for this team.”

About Billy Ballew Motorsports:

BBM started competing full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2002 and has had a variety of well known NASCAR drivers over the years. The list includes Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Aric Almirola, Brian Ickler, John Andretti, Kenny Wallace, Paul Menard, Bill Lester, Geoffrey Bodine, Joe Ruttman and a host of others. It was Shane Hmiel who piloted the No. 15 for the 2004 season that brought Billy Ballew his first win at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the team’s 100th start in the NCWTS. Since then Billy Ballew Motorsports has taken 18 more trips to victory lane.

(September 21, 2010) – For the past six years, Billy Ballew Motorsports (BBM) and the Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower have partnered together for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. At the Smith’s Food and Drug Stores 350, BBM will be running the Casino Hotel and Tower’s logo on the No. 15 and 51 Toyota Tundras to encourage everyone to experience the Stratosphere.

“We always enjoy staying at the Stratosphere,” said Billy Ballew, team owner BBM. “It’s a first class establishment. Everything from the hotel rooms, to the gaming, to the thrill rides is truly a top notch experience. We’re proud to have the Stratosphere’s decals on our trucks this week at Las Vegas. They’ve been a good friend to our team and the Truck Series. Several other race teams will be staying here this week and hopefully the race fans will join us.”

BBM will also host guests of the Stratosphere as honorary crew members for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on September 25. Joining the No. 51 team, with driver Aric Almirola, will be Randy & Diana Hart. Londa McClung will be an honorary crew member of the No. 15 team, with driver Nelson Piquet Jr.

“We’re really excited to have guests of the Stratosphere join us for the race,” continued Ballew. “I’m sure they’ll enjoy all of the thrills that NASCAR racing has to offer. It would be great to end the race in victory lane and really make it a special weekend for them. We had some guests of the Stratosphere at the race in 2004 when we got our first win. Maybe they’re our good luck charm.”

Several drivers from the Truck Series will be signing autographs at the Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower on Friday, Sept. 24, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The free session will be located in the casino at 2000 Las Vegas Blvd. South, and will kick off the pre-event festivities for the race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

(September 20, 2010) – It is always like a homecoming for Billy Ballew Motorsports when traveling to the 1.5-mile Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway. It is there where the two-truck team organization recorded its first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) win in 2004. The stable has made 18 additional trips to victory lane since that fateful day.

Aric Almirola, driver of the No. 51 Zyclara by Graceway Pharmaceuticals Tundra, hopes to make it win number 20 when the team returns to LVMS this week to conquer the Smith’s Food & Drug Stores 350.

Almirola has never finished outside the top-10 in NCWTS competition at LVMS. In his two NCWTS starts, Almirola finished 10th in 2006 and finished eighth in 2009. He enters this weekend riding a streak of seven consecutive top-10 finishes this season. The team sits second in championship points.

Aric Almirola - Photo Credit: Sam Greenwood / Getty Images for NASCAR

Comments from Aric Almirola Heading into Las Vegas:

“I think the most fun thing about Las Vegas is obviously not the track, but the extracurricular activities (laughing). Nonetheless, the track is a lot of fun to race on. It’s really fast, has a lot of grip and it is pretty rough making you able to pass. You can move around too and run the top or the middle. Some people run the bottom, but it just depends on how you are handling.

“The track allowed us put on a great race last year. We got a top-10 result and I’m optimistic that we can beat that this year. I’m looking forward to going back there with some of the notes from last season to apply to the Graceway Pharmaceuticals Tundra. We’re really looking for wins.

“It feels like I’ve run a lot better than the finishes show. The team has had success there and has history there too. It’s a special place for Billy (Ballew) and the guys. We want to get back in victory lane there.

“Off the track, when it comes to the casinos, I’ve had some good years where I’ve won some money. I’ve had some bad ones, too. I hate losing money so I don’t gamble a lot. I’d rather have the money in my pocket than pay the city’s electric bill for the month. I try not to get too carried away, but I do like to go out and have some fun and maybe catch a show as well.”

That is because, last season, Kyle Busch drove the Billy Ballew Motorsports-fielded Tundra to victory at NHMS. This year, driver Aric Almirola hopes to repeat the performance and give the team its third win of the 2010 Camping Word Truck Series campaign.

At tracks one mile in length or less in 2010, Almirola has scored three top-10 finishes in five starts, including a win at Dover International Speedway and a second-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway. He has several starts at New Hampshire including a top-10 in the Camping World Truck Series and a pair of top-25 finishes in the Sprint Cup Series.

Almirola has scored six straight top-10 finishes in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition, four of which were top-five finishes. He is currently second in the championship standings, 261 points behind leader Todd Bodine.

“I love going to Loudon. New Hampshire Motor Speedway is so much fun to race at. It’s really tough to get your truck to handle well there because the corners are so flat and so long. I think you spend more time in the corners than you do in the straightaways.

“We’ve got a really good baseline and package for New Hampshire. We just did some testing to prepare for the race. It was a really good test session, so I’m really looking forward to the event. I think we’ll have a good run there. We tested at Gresham Motorsports Park in Georgia and learned a lot there. We all feel good heading to the track.

“We’re second in the points now. Todd (Bodine)’s built up a good lead, but that doesn’t change our game plan. We’ve got to go and keep trying to win races every single weekend. We can’t ride around and hope to get good finishes. We’ve got to win. That’s how you get the most points. Our focus every single weekend is to do everything in our power to win races.

“There are so many good trucks in the Camping World Truck Series garage that you can never go into a defensive mode in the points hunt. If you try and protect your position in the standings by riding around in the top-10, you’ll fall in the standings. It’s just too competitive. There are so many good teams that show up each week. There’s no other way around it. You have to compete for wins if you want to catch the drivers ahead of you, and to keep the guys behind you from passing you by. That’s the only way to compete in the championship standings.”

(August 30, 2010) – Aric Almirola and the No. 51 Graceway Pharmaceuticals Toyota team head to the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway for this Friday night’s 150-lap race looking for a little bit of redemption. Last year, the Billy Ballew Motorsports team led 19 laps on the way to a fifth-place finish. They were one of the fastest trucks all race long, but pit strategy didn’t play in their favor in the end.

Almirola and the crew of the No. 51 are looking for the win Friday night, but also to extend their top-10 finish streak. After their sixth-place result last weekend at Chicagoland Speedway, the Graceway Pharmaceuticals Toyota has landed in the top-10 five consecutive races.

Aric Almirola - Photo Credit: Sam Greenwood / Getty Images for NASCAR

Almirola Comments on Kentucky Speedway:

“I’m really looking forward to Kentucky. We had a really fast truck last year, and we were up front racing for the win. We weren’t able to seal the deal at the end, but we had a strong run and led laps. It gives us a lot of confidence going back there and trying to get it done this time.

“I think we have a pretty good understanding of what we need to do this weekend. This Graceway Pharmaceuticals team has been strong all year, and now we’re going back to a place where we led laps last year. It gives us a lot of confidence that we can go out there, race up front and hopefully challenge for the win. We were close last year so it’d be nice to go back and get it done.

“Kentucky, in the past, has been a pretty rough track. That’s been the characteristic of the track. I’ve heard that they have levigated it like they have done to Charlotte in the past. So, for everyone, it’s going to be a bit of a guessing game. I don’t think anyone really knows what the track conditions will be like.

“We hope it’s smoother, but nobody knows for sure. It sounds like we’ll be the first to know this weekend. That will be fine too. We’re all professionals and can adapt to the changes pretty quickly. Hopefully it will make for better racing for the fans. Either way, our goal will be to put the No. 51 Graceway Pharmaceuticals Toyota in victory lane.”

Long will be returning behind the wheel of the No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota Tundra to tackle the 1.5-mile race track.

Chicagoland Speedway will be the first mile-and-a-half venue that Long has competed at in NCWTS competition. Long made history this season when she became the youngest female driver to make a NCWTS start. The Pensacola, Fla., native made her debut at O’Reilly Raceway Park this season, where she finished 17th. She next competed at Nashville Superspeedway and finished 34th after she was spun out and unable to continue.

Long has already collected an impressive list of racing accomplishments. At only 18 years old, she touts Late Model championships in the Blizzard Series and Gulf Coast Series from the 2009 season. Long won five of the 36 events she ran en route to her championships and captured the pole for the esteemed Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in 2009. Long also competed in two ARCA events last season.

“I can’t wait to get back on track. Our last race at Nashville didn’t turn out how we expected. I barely had anytime to race, so I’m looking forward to heading to Chicagoland. I really enjoyed the speed and pace at Nashville. I’ve mostly competed at short tracks, so it was nice to get some experience at a larger track. It was really fun wheeling the truck. I was excited about racing there, but we only got three laps in before I was crashed. I’m anxious to continue learning and developing as a driver, so this will be a great opportunity.

“My guys worked so hard at Nashville and I was disappointed that we didn’t have more to show for our effort. My crew has given me an awesome truck both times I’ve raced with Billy Ballew Motorsports and I’m sure that Chicago will be no different. Hopefully this race will reflect how good this team really is.

“I’ve really enjoyed the past two Truck Series races. Each one has been a learning experience. The trucks are a lot different than anything I’ve ever driven, so I’m still getting the hang of them. It’s definitely a challenge, but I’m feeling more comfortable behind the wheel. I’m learning the handling characteristics and getting a better understanding of what the truck needs for the race. Each lap I take is valuable. Fortunately I have a great crew around me that helps speeding up that curve.”

Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Bristol Motor Speedway — August 18, 2010

- Kyle Busch won his third-consecutive NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor
Speedway on Wednesday night, coming from the back of the field to lead the final 116 (of 206) laps en route to victory lane.

- Busch earned the pole position in the No. 18 Tundra — the 75th for Toyota since joining the series in 2004 — but was forced to start from the rear for unapproved changes after qualifying. He took the lead for the first time on lap 91 and never looked back to record Toyota’s ninth NCWTS win in 16 races in 2010.

- Aric Almirola (second), Mike Skinner (fourth), Justin Lofton (fifth), Todd Bodine (sixth), Timothy Peters (eighth) and
Miguel Paludo (ninth) also scored top-10 finishes for Toyota at the half-mile Tennessee track.

- Tundra drivers Max Papis (14th), David Starr (23rd) and Donny Lia (30th) were also in the field.

- Bodine continues to lead the unofficial NCWTS standings following Bristol, leading Almirola by 211 points. Peters (third),
Skinner (eighth) and Starr (ninth) are also in the top-10 in points after 16 of 25 races.

Kyle Busch - Photo Credit: Sam Greenwood / Getty Images for NASCAR

KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 NASCAR.com ‘RaceView’ Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports

Finishing Position: 1st

Can you talk about your race tonight?

“It was a really good night. We unloaded and we were pretty decent in practice. It seemed like the tires threw us off just a little bit, but we were able to overcome that. Eric (Phillips, crew chief) made some good calls in practice and we changed the truck around a little bit. Overall, it was a fast ride, the NASCAR.com RaceView Tundra. I’m really proud of the way the guys worked all day.

Unfortunately, we had a miscue with the engine. We qualified on the pole but it let us start at the back of the field and drive up through everybody and get up towards the front. We had the right pit strategy. Fortunately, Eric made a nice call to pit when we did. We saved fuel for the rest of the day. I wasn’t 100 percent aggressive on saving fuel, but I was 92 percent and we were able to prevail and get up front. I think we led the most laps and ultimately get to victory lane. Being in victory lane at Bristol is pretty
cool.”

Were you nervous about running out of fuel?

“We were. I was. It ran out on the second-to-last restart and then it ran out again on the last restart coming right there to the line. I didn’t know if I got the white flag or not. Man, that was close. I can’t thank NASCAR.com Race View, Trackpass, Toyota, M&M’s, Z-Line Designs, Interstate Batteries. NOS is what’s powering me to victory this week. It’s going to be a lot of racing. Of course Electric Sunglasses, Camping World — great series — and of course the fans for coming out here and supporting Bristol on a Wednesday night. It’s pretty awesome. Our other partners on board — Flexico, Toyota and don’t forget you can win my Tundra, go to winkylestundra.com and we’re giving away a free Toyota Tundra. It’s for the (Kyle Busch) Foundation.”

Were you worried about having to come from the back?

“It worried me a little bit just having to start back there and try to come through traffic really unsure. Some guys, they qualify and do their race adjustments and go for the start of the race and sometimes you can get it too loose and you never know what can happen in front of you. This is Bristol, anyway. It turned out everything was all right. We got up through there.

We were passing guys one at a time, just kind of biding our time getting our way up there. I think we were as high as maybe 12th or 14th when we decided to pit on lap 30 or 31, whatever it was. It was a bummer deal that we didn’t get to start from the pole and kind of lead the laps and play our strategy out a little bit, but it was still cool coming from the back I guess. I wish there was an award for it or maybe a bonus for sitting on the pole, then starting in the back and coming up through there and winning. That’s just me.”

Can you win all three races this weekend?

“I was very close last year. I won the Truck race, didn’t win the Nationwide race, got wrecked there. Then won the Cup race so I don’t see why not. I feel like my chances are pretty good. I love racing here and Bristol is always so much fun. I can’t wait to get going. Again, Race View, NASCAR.com, you get 18 percent off the rest of this weekend on the purchase of a TrackPass subscription.”

ERIC PHILLIPS, Crew Chief, No. 18 NASCAR.com ‘RaceView’ Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports

Did you make adjustments to the truck during your pit stop?

“We didn’t make any adjustments all night. We pitted so early that we didn’t run enough green to make a good decision on what to do so we left it alone. We were a little free all night, but Kyle (Busch) did a great job. The guys did a good job and he saved gas.

That was the biggest key.”

Aric Almirola - Photo Credit: Sam Greenwood / Getty Images for NASCAR

ARIC ALMIROLA, No. 51 Zyclara / Graceway Pharmaceuticals Toyota Tundra, Billy Ballew Motorsports

Finishing Position: 2nd

How does it feel to gain some points on Todd Bodine?

“Finally. We had a good truck tonight. I was down in the dumps all day because we didn’t have any speed. It just ran the same speed — it never went faster, it never went slower — it just ran the same speed no matter what we changed. It did the same thing again tonight when we took off for the race. We started 19th and we ran the same speed. Everybody seemed to fall back and come back to us.

Then Richie (Waters, crew chief) made a great call there at the end of the race to come in and get four tires with about
50 laps to go and tires were really big. It seemed like a lot of people were getting really loose off. Great call by him to get our Graceway Pharmaceuticals truck back up front. The race was just so much dictated by what line you restarted tonight.

The outside was the place to be and if you got stuck on the outside, you could really lose a lot of spots. Really proud of all the guys on this Graceway Pharmaceuticals team and everybody at Billy Ballew Motorsports. They built that truck in about two weeks after we destroyed one at Iowa and another one at ORP so they’ve been working some long hours and I’m really, really proud of them and this finish, they deserve it.”

MIKE SKINNER, No. 5 EXIDE Toyota Tundra, Randy Moss Motorsports

Finishing Position: 4th

JUSTIN LOFTON, No. 7 VisitPit.com Toyota Tundra, Red Horse Racing

Finishing Position: 6th

How was the race tonight?

“I know you guys up there were talking about it. I was pretty disheartened about how the truck was running in practice and really didn’t think we had a good truck and we didn’t. The Valvoline Toyota Tundra just was loose in, tight in the middle and tight off, loose off, loose in the middle, I mean I could never make it do the same thing twice. We kept fighting it and adjusting and fighting and adjusting and I ended up sixth.

That’s what you have to do to win championships. I’ve said it all along. If you have a bad night, just finish in the top-10 and get the best finish you can. It’s not what we wanted for Valvoline or Toyota, but we only lost a few points to Aric (Almirola) and we will go get them at Chicago next. I love Chicago.”

TIMOTHY PETERS, No. 17 WISS Toyota Tundra, Red Horse Racing

Finishing Position: 9th

How were you able to get a top-10 finish in your first Truck race?

“It was awesome. I appreciate all the work and all the support of Germain and Toyota. The team put the truck in one week together so I’m really proud of all the guys. I’m happy, I’m really happy. We had a tight truck, a loose truck, a lot of different trucks in the race, but you can’t imagine how happy I am. Every person I talked with said, ‘Why Bristol? It’s tough.’ It’s perfect. I’m real happy and it’s a team effort. Germain Racing did a great job and I’m real happy.”

MAX PAPIS, No. 9 GEICO Toyota Tundra, Germain Racing

Finishing Position: 14th

DAVID STARR, No. 81 CHASCO Toyota Tundra, Randy Moss Motorsports

Finishing Position: 23rd

DONNY LIA, No. 07 ASI Limited Toyota Tundra, SS Green Light Racing

“Spotter for Aric Almirola Shows He has What it Takes Behind the Wheel, Too”

strong>MOORESVILLE, N.C. (August 14, 2010) – The title chase in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series garage may be in full swing, but one driver on the No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports team has already won a championship. Tyler Green, spotter for Aric Almirola’s Zyclara by Graceway Tundra, claimed the 2010 Legend Car Pro division championship after a thrilling battle at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway (CMS) last Tuesday.

Green carried a 17 point lead in the championship standings over Travis Braden and Daniel Hemrick, who were tied for second-place, going into the series finale at CMS. Green’s chances of being crowned champ appeared bleak when he qualified in 19th-place for the feature, while Hemrick and Braden both lined up inside the top-five. Green made a dramatic dash through the field, though, finishing in fourth-place, only one spot behind Braden. His effort earned him his first Legend Car Pro division championship.

“I’ve been racing Legend cars at Charlotte for four years and experienced nearly every kind of misfortune that you can imagine, as far as winning a title,” Green said. “To finally have everything go our way and win the championship feels awesome.

“We had a really bad heat race. We started 19th and the guys we needed to beat were starting in the top-five. I didn’t feel like there was much hope at that point. I figured whatever happens, happens. It was only a 20 lap race. I’d just run as hard as I possibly could. Everything worked out, though. I ended up getting by a lot of guys and finished fourth. It was just what we needed.”

Tyler is part of the infamous Green family, which has become synonymous with NASCAR racing. Tyler’s father, Mark, is a veteran of the Nationwide Series and currently drives for Jay Robinson Racing. His uncles, David and Jeff, are former Nationwide Series champions. Mark is doing everything he can to help bring Tyler up through the ranks.

“It was awesome to be at Charlotte Motor Speedway with my dad. I drive a family-built racecar. To be able to run up front and contend for wins and win a championship is pretty special. Not only is it a bonding time for me and my family, but it helps my driving skills for the future.

“I’d love to take the next step. Of course I’d love to race in NASCAR one day. It’s expensive, though. There’s a big jump in cost after Legends and Late Models. Hopefully funding will come through one day and let me keep going.”

(August 9, 2010) - The Too Tough to Tame 200 will mark the first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) event at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway since 2004. Aric Almirola, driver of the No. 51 Zyclara by Graceway Tundra fielded by Billy Ballew Motorsports, is excited about returning to the 1.366-mile famed racetrack.

According to Almirola, few other venues share the attributes that have made “The Lady in Black” such an important part of NASCAR’s history and tradition. The Tampa, Fla., native also recognizes the honor of winning at the track, no matter what racing series. Although Darlington will be a new venture for the majority of the Truck Series field, Almirola has previous experience at the historic track competing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

Almirola and the No.51 Billy Ballew Motorsports team also participated in the Goodyear test in March. They hope that their data will allow them to be fully prepared for this weekend.

The team sits second in Camping World Truck Series points and continues to have a championship-caliber season. Almirola has collected 10 top-10′s, five top-fives and two wins so far this season.

Aric Almirola - Photo Credit: Sam Greenwood / Getty Images for NASCAR

Almirola Comments on Too Tough to Tame 200:

“Darlington is one of the coolest tracks we go to. It has a ton of history with the Southern 500 and NASCAR racing there for so long. It’s pretty cool that they asked the Truck Series to go down there and race. It’s going to be an awesome event and I think we’ll put on a great show.

“We did a tire test for Goodyear earlier this year at the track. That was really good for us to get that opportunity. We had a really fast truck when we tested and I felt good about it. I’m looking forward to get back down there. The racing is going to be great and I think we’ll be fast right off the hauler.

“Darlington takes 100% concentration every lap. The second you lose focus, ‘the Lady in Black’ will quickly remind you why she demands so much respect. There’s a reason it has a reputation for being such a difficult track. You’re always just inches away from adding another stripe to the wall.

“Everything about the track is unique. There’s nothing else on the circuit like it. The layout, the personality, the way you drive the track, there’s nowhere that compares. The fans are really going to see something special when we race there. I’m so glad that NASCAR added this back to our schedule. It’s such a cool place and I can’t wait to get back there and have another good run for Graceway Pharmaceuticals.”
