Unfortunately mechanical gremlins halted what easily could have been a career-best night for the second generation driver.

Earlier in the week, the Brevak Racing team announced a new marketing partner for ARCA’s return to Madison International Speedway as the Legendary Waters Resort and Casino leaped aboard the team’s No. 3 Dodge Charger for the 15th race of the season.

Armed with the support and guidance of long-time ARCA veteran Mark Gibson, Brevak and the team knew that the short hour and a half practice session would be crucial in helping dial in the team’s No. 3 Legendary Waters Resort and Casino Dodge Charger.

With the field extremely tight, Brevak posted the 19th fastest lap overall after posting a time of 19.300 seconds at 93.264 miles per hour. Somewhat satisfied with their effort, Brevak, Gibson and other members of the family-owned team connected together and agreed on a setup for qualifying which included a gear change.

When time trials rolled around, Brevak, the son of 1990 ARCA Racing Series champion Bob Brevak maneuvered his No. 3 Legendary Waters Resort and Casino Dodge Charger around the half-mile short track in 18.614 seconds or 96.701 miles per hour, landing them 10th overall in Brevak’s first short track contest of 2011.

Exceptionally pleased with the performance of their Dodge Charger in qualifying, the team set their attention towards the 200-lap race.

Knowing the characteristics of Madison International Speedway, Brevak knew that being around in the end would be pivotal to a good finish. From the moment the green flag dropped, Brevak remained on his toes but mounted consistent and respectable lap times.

With the track being extremely difficult to pass, the ARCA Racing Series teams would have to use different types of strategy to make their way through the field. For Brevak, one of his strategies was to keep his No. 3 Legendary Waters Resort and Casino Dodge Charger on the lead lap and within the sights of the lead pack.

Able to do both and hovering comfortable inside the top-15 during the race’s first quarter, it appeared that Brevak was setting himself up for his second top-10 finish of the season but the team’s night began to go array just after lap 50.

Under green flag conditions, Brevak informed his team of a problem with the brakes, which was later proven to be a malfunction in the brake bias which almost completely eliminated Brevak’s front brakes.

While dealing with hardly any brakes, Brevak impressively maintained his position on the lead lap and utilized a caution flag near the half-way point hoping to make a statement.

Knowing that fresh rubber could be the winning element in the Herr’s Live Life With Flavor! 200, the team stayed out on the race track which lined the No. 3 Legendary Waters Resort and Casino Dodge Charger fifth on the grid.

As the cars began to accelerate on the restart, more gremlins would bite the Ashland, Wisconsin native as a failure in the drivetrain would force Brevak to end his fifth race of the season wondering what could have been.

The team would be credited with completing 92 laps and finishing 25th overall.

Brent Brevak

“We definitely had a sporty car in qualifying,” Brevak said, “And we were running as planned early in the race which meant just staying as close to the lead pack as possible but giving ourselves enough room that if something transpired, we could escape. Near lap 50, the brake bias malfunction really made it difficult and wicked to enter the turns with hardly any brakes in the front end. Despite the brake issue, we decided to take a gamble and I really thought it was going to pay off – but then on the restart, we had something break in the drivetrain and that was that.”

The recent college graduate added, “I want to thank the Legendary Waters Resort and Casino for jumping aboard with us for ARCA’s return to Madison. I really enjoyed representing them. I hated that we could not give them a better finish, but hopefully we’ll have a chance to make it up to them down the road. For us now, we’ll get ourselves back together and head to Kansas in October and see if we can’t have a nice recovery there.”

In addition to the Legendary Waters Resort and Casino, Club Lamark also served as an associate sponsor on the No. 3 Dodge Charger on Friday night.

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is the second and final installment on the dirt when the sanctioning body makes their annual trip to the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds for the running of the Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Auto Parts on Labor Day, Monday, September 5.

Brevak Racing encourages their fans and supporters to check out their official Brevak Racing Group Facebook page where you can find more about the team and the “Ride Along With Brent” fan participation program.

Also, be sure to visit the NEWLY redesigned and re-launched Brent Brevak and Brevak Racing website at brevakracing.com. The team would like to thank TYG Media for their expertise and support of the Brevak Racing team.

The signing of Legendary Waters Resort and Casino located in Red Cliff, Wisconsin gives the recent College graduate high hopes for his fifth start of the 2011 season.

“I am pumped about going back to Madison International Speedway on Friday,” said Brevak, a native of Ashland, Wisconsin. “We are all proud to carry the signage of Legendary Waters Resort and Casino on our No. 3 Dodge Charger this week. It’s important for us to go out there and give them a good finish, considering the race is literally in their backyard, not to mention we would like to bounce back from our misfortune at Pocono a few weeks ago.

“Legendary Waters Resort and Casino is an absolutely beautiful resort that sits directly off the shores of Lake Superior. It is only a short distance from Ashland so I know personally how gorgeous that area is. Every single room in Legendary Waters has a perfect view of Lake Superior, which is a view that cannot be beat. Anybody looking for a beautiful vacation spot should check out their website or check them out on Facebook. We’re looking forward to developing a long-lasting partnership.”

Rachael Lamkin, marketing manager for the Legendary Waters Resort and Casino also commented on the announcement. “Legendary Waters Resort & Casino is proud and excited to partner with Brevak Racing in the ARCA Racing Series return to Madison International Speedway. On behalf of everyone at the Legendary Waters Resort and Casino we wish them the best of luck on Friday night.”

Rewinding back to Pocono, in his first career start at the 2.5-mile triangle at Pocono, Brevak’s chances at a strong finish were dashed after being collected in a first lap incident. Set for redemption, Brevak and his team don’t think there is a better place to get the job done other than Madison.

Brent Brevak

“I have a lot of memories at Madison,” continued Brent, driver of the No. 3 Legendary Waters Resort and Casino Dodge Charger. “It’s literally where my racing career launched. I raced there for two years in a weekly Late Model Series a couple years ago. I know the race track and I know how to race it, so I’m enthused to see what I can do there in an ARCA car. Although I live about 300 miles away from the track, this is like a home race for me as there aren’t many other top level race tracks in Wisconsin. Most of my family lives up in this region, so there will definitely be a lot of people there to cheer us on.”

Co-team owner Shelly Brevak offered her thoughts on the new partnership for the 15th race of the 2011 ARCA Racing Season. “We’re excited to introduce Legendary Waters Resort and Casino to the racing community and the racing community to Legendary Waters Resort and Casino. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to help showcase this new destination resort right in our own back yard. Fans looking for a unique year round vacation experience will definitely enjoy what Legendary Waters Resort and Casino has to offer!”

Father and former-racer Bob Brevak recalls his recent memories of Madison and is looking forward to making new memories this week. “We drove five hours to Madison every weekend for two seasons,” he said. “I felt Brent could gain valuable short track experience racing against the competition they had at Madison. It took dedication but was well worth the effort. As a driver, it’s what you have to do to eventually be able to compete at the ARCA and NASCAR level.”

Before the team shifts their attention to a busy day on Friday, they will make an appearance at Madison’s top racing bar, Club Lamark (1525 N. Stoughton Rd. in Madison, near the intersection of Highways 51 and 151) from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday. In addition to the No. 3 Legendary Waters Resort and Casino Dodge Charger being on display, Brevak will mingle and sign autographs with fellow ARCA drivers Grant Enfinger and Tom Hessert for the attendees.

In addition to the Legendary Waters Resort and Casino, Club Lamark will also serve as an associate sponsor on the No. 3 Dodge Charger.

Brevak Racing encourages their fans and supporters to check out their official Brevak Racing Group Facebook page where you can find more about the team and the “Ride Along With Brent” fan participation program.

The Herr’s Live Life With Flavor 200 (200 laps / 100 miles) is the 15th of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The fourth-ever ARCA event held at Madison International Speedway is a one-day show. Practice begins Friday, August 26 with an hour and a half practice session planned from 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. An on-track autograph session has been etched into the schedule from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The field will take the green flag shortly after 8:30 p.m. that evening. The event will not be televised but race coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the 1,327th race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards since it was formed in 1953 will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com presented by ARCANation.com. All times are local.

Raceway this weekend aiming for more success in Saturday’s Pennsylvania ARCA 125.

In just his seventh career ARCA start, the second-generation driver propelled from his 19th place starting to position to take the checkered flag in the ninth position in his inaugural speedway event. The finish felt like a victory for the family-owned team who feeds off the love and passion of racing, despite the help of sponsorship dollars.

This weekend, the 23-year old Brevak will look to manhandle the intimidating Pocono (Pa.) Raceway for the 13th race of the 2011 ARCA season. With no experience at the 2.5-mile triangle track, the avid racecar driver will lean on the leadership of his father Bob Brevak, a former champion in the ARCA Racing Series.

“I have a whole bunch of feelings about my ARCA debut at Pocono this weekend,” said Brevak. “It’s been almost two months since we’ve raced in ARCA, but we felt that this was an important race for us to come out and show that we have the will, drive and determination to run competitive despite little sponsorship.

For a track like Pocono, it’s really hard to prepare since it’s really not like any other track out there. I cannot try and compare it to a different track, so I’ve been basically just relying on watching prior races on television to try and pick up as much as I can. I plan to follow some of the veterans in practice too, hoping it will help me get more comfortable to the racing surface.”

Of course, Brevak knows that another solid outing like he had at Chicagoland Speedway could potentially lift those chances of bringing on a sponsor on the team’s No. 3 Brevak Racing Dodge Charger that would allow them to increase their presence on the tour.

Brent Brevak

“We’re doing everything we can to try and run some more races,” Brevak explained. “We’re digging and we’ll continue to pound the pavement and hopefully with some luck and another good finish, someone will jump aboard and help us out.”

Out of the cockpit, Brevak recently finished his degree in Broadcasting and Journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire which offers him another talent outside of the racecar.

“I think that my recent college degree will help me in a ton with the media aspect of things,” the Ashland Wisconsin native said. “I know more than the typical driver about what goes into producing a television or radio broadcast, so I can try and use that to my advantage when it comes to working with the reporters who promote our sport and race team.”

Known for his gratefulness in the ARCA garage area, Brevak knows that his continued fan support not only from off the track but also through his Ride Along Fan Participation program is a confidence booster every time he climbs behind the wheel of his No. 3 Brevak Racing Dodge Charger.

“I just want to say thanks to all the fans and sponsors who have supported me and my racing dream this year and throughout my career,” Brevak sounded. “I am at a turning point in my career where we really need as much financial and moral support as possible to keep our team alive for the rest of this year while also getting a jump on 2012.”

Brevak Racing will be assisted by Mark Gibson Racing (MGR) this weekend at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway where four-time ARCA winner Mark Gibson will be on-hand to act as a mentor and assistance to the Brevak Racing team. MGR has entered their familiar No. 59 entity with rookie Buster Graham at the controls. Derik Gray, a 15-year veteran at MGR will heed the role as crew chief for Brevak this weekend.

Brevak Racing encourages their fans and supporters to check out their official Brevak Racing Group Facebook page where you can find more about the team and the “Ride Along With Brent” fan participation program.

The Pennsylvania ARCA 125 (50 laps / 125 miles) is the 13th of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 53rd ARCA race at Pocono Raceway is a two-day show. Practice begins Friday, August 5 with a one hour and twenty minute practice session planned from 1:40 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin later in the day at 5:40 p.m. The field will take the green flag shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6. The event will be televised live on SPEED.
After tackling the two superspeedway events on the schedule at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway respectively, the Brevak Racing team took a breather to reorganize their organization as Brevak prepares to make his Windy City debut this weekend.

“I’m anxious for this weekend,” said Brevak, who graduated last Saturday from UW-EauClaire with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. “I’ve had some experience on these mile and a half tracks and actually have found them to be a favorite, but this will be my first start at Chicagoland Speedway this weekend. I’m optimistic that we can have a good run in our No. 3 Red’s Auto / Brevak Racing Dodge Charger.”

To better assist the 23-year old with the Joliet, Illinois race track, Brevak has turned to the ever popular iRacing; where he has mounted an enormous amount of laps practicing and participating in simulated races. Additionally, Brevak is hoping that his prior experience at Michigan International Speedway and Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway will pay dividends.

“Believe it or not, iRacing is very helpful,” Brevak explained. “A lot of the same fundamentals that apply at the track execute in the game. I’ve learned a lot about the line.”

After finishing 38th and 26th respectively in the first two events of the year, Brevak is oriented on obtaining a solid run that could potentially allow the family owned team to increase their limited ARCA schedule.

“We’re still digging hard to find some sponsorship,” sounded the son of 1990 ARCA Racing Series championship driver Bob Brevak and owner Shelly Brevak. “It’s still real tough out there but we have a lot of local support who continue to believe in me and this race team and that’s what is propelling us to Chicagoland this weekend.”

Undoubtedly winning the ARCA championship 21 years ago means that the team has reputable help at the race track, including the support of veteran ARCA car owner and winner Mark Gibson for the sixth race of the season.

“You cannot say enough about Mark Gibson,” Brevak mentioned. “He is just a great guy with an enormous amount of experience and dedication. He was definitely an asset to our program at Talladega and I know he will be even more helpful this weekend at Chicagoland. I am also looking forward to building a solid relationship with Mark as my crew chief as well.”

Brevak Racing encourages their fans and supporters to check out their official Brevak Racing Group Facebook page where you can find more about the team and the “Ride Along With Brent” fan participation program.

Sponsorship dollars will determine Brevak’s remaining ARCA Racing Series schedule but the team is hopeful to continue the season at Michigan International Speedway on Friday June 17.

(April 18, 2011) – - Brent Brevak, son of 1990 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards champion Bob Brevak had high hopes for his Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway debut this past weekend but unfortunately a series of misfortunes in the early stages of the postponed 3 Amigos 250 forced a different race strategy for the Brevak Racing team.

With faith and determination propelling the team to the 2.66-mile superspeedway after a tough outing in the season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Brevak had hopes to push his No. 3 Brevak Racing Ford Fusion into contention in the second race of the season.

In practice on Thursday, the No. 3 Brevak Racing Ford Fusion posted the 27th fastest run in single-car trim leaving the team optimistic for qualifying. A solid 25th place qualifying effort later that day gave the organization a better feeling towards the event.

Opting not to participate in the final practice, the family-owned team would shift their concentration into race mode. The team’s mode though would be halted when Mother Nature brought extensive rain and thunderstorms to the Talladega area forcing officials to reschedule the event until the next morning with an 8:00 a.m. start.

Refreshed, Brevak climbed aboard his machine thankful for the opportunity to race at one of the greatest spectacles on earth. When the green flag flown, Brevak showed patience and by lap six had climbed into the 21st position.

His steady climb to the front would be halted on lap 14 when a piece of debris caused the left front tire to go flat. Add insult to injury, the deflated tire also broke the sway bar which would haunt the 23-year old and his team for the remainder of the event. Slowly, Brevak was able to bring his blue oval to pit road for damage control.

With the tire changed, Brevak returned to the track three laps off the pace and was hoping that attrition would play into his favor and he could utilize the “free pass” times three to return to lead lap status. The yellow flag fever would never break closing in on half-way which kept Brevak gaining valuable experience but out of contention.

On lap 59, Brevak returned to pit road for an attempt to fix the sway bar but would gradually lose more laps to the leaders which take the team’s agenda from a good finish to a learning experience for their second-generation racer.

Through perseverance and some late attrition, Brevak would climb the running order and take the checkered flag in the 26th position, 10 laps off race winner Ty Dillon.

“It’s a shame that we had the flat tire then the sway bar issue,” offered Brevak after the race. “We had a decent car that with the right group would draft well. We were just keeping our nose clean and waiting for the right opportunity to fire away. Sadly, we never were able to get there. I want to thank everyone on the team and all of those who support us for getting our team to Talladega. We’ll try again soon.”

Despite the hardships, the finish was a career-best for Brevak in five prior ARCA Racing Series start. Previously, Brevak had finished a career-best 28th at Salem (Ind.) Speedway last year.

Pending sponsorship, Brevak Racing may attempt the next ARCA Racing Series event on the circuit at the tricky Salem (Ind.) Speedway on Sunday, May 1 for the running of the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200.

Brevak Racing encourages their fans and supporters to check out their official Brevak Racing Group Facebook page where you can find more about the team and the “Ride Along With Brent” fan participation program.

The Superspeedway Challenge, which is a separate $75,000 point fund for races on speedway ovals greater than one mile in length, kicked off with the Lucas Oil Slick Mist ARCA 200 at Daytona on February 7. Other superspeedway challenge events on the 2009 schedule include Talladega Superspeedway (April 24), Kentucky Speedway (May 9 and July 18), Pocono Raceway (June 6 and August 1), Michigan Int’l Speedway (June 12), Chicagoland Speedway (August 28) and Kansas Speedway (October 1).

With the exception of a 30th-place finish at Michigan Int’l Speedway in June, Lofton has not finished worse than eighth on a speedway in 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series competition. The superspeedway portion of his 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series season included wins at Talladega and Chicagoland, second-place finishes at Kentucky and Pocono, a third place finish at Kentucky in July, a sixth-place finish at Pocono in August and an eighth-place finish at Daytona.

Superspeedway Challenge points are awarded to car owners based on race points, with the winner of a Superspeedway Challenge race earning 200 points and points decreasing in increments of five.

Heading into Thursday’s Kansas Lottery 150, the ninth and final race in the 2009 Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge, Eddie Sharp Racing led the standings with driver Justin Lofton over Kimmel racing with driver Frank Kimmel and Win-Tron Racing, who has utilized drivers James Buescher, Kelly Bires, Matt Merrell, Brad Reithmeyer and Beau Slocum on speedway races in 2009.

Sharp and Lofton join an accomplished list of competitors who have earned the Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Championship. Last season, Eddie Sharp earned Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge honors with driver Scott Speed. In 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series car owner Ray Evernham and driver Erin Crocker earned Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge honors, marking the first time that a female driver has earned the award. Car Owner Larry Clement is a five-time Superspeedway Challenge Champion with driver Frank Kimmel (1998, ’01, ’03, ’05, ’06). Other winners include Davey Allison (’84, ’85), Lee Raymond (’86), Bill Venturini (’87, ’91), Tracy Leslie (’88), Ben Hess (’89), Bob Brevak (’90), Bob Keselowski (’92), Jeff Purvis (’93, ’94), Mike Wallace (’95), Tim Steele (’96), Mark Gibson (’97), Chad Blount (’02), Bobby Gerhart (’04), Blake Feese (’04) and Kyle Krisiloff (’04).

The ARCA RE/MAX Series has recognized a superspeedway challenge champion each consecutive year since 1984. Sharp and Lofton will formally accept the 2009 Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Championship at the ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship Awards Banquet at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in December.

Lofton currently leads the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings by 15 points over Parker Kligerman with one race remaining in the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series-the American 200 at Rockingham Speedway on Sunday, October, 11. The race rolls off at 1 p.m. and airs on SPEED at 10 p.m.

The event marks the 86th appearance of the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Salem since the inaugural race at the historic half-mile, high-banked oval in 1955.

The year’s Fall Classic also marks the third leg of the Bill France Four Crown, a separate title based on performance at four very diverse tracks. The tracks that make up this year’s Bill France Four Crown include the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds mile-dirt (Sept. 7th), the New Jersey Motorsports Park road course (Sept. 13th), Salem and the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway (Oct. 1st).

ARCA title contenders Justin Lofton, rookie Parker Kligerman and veteran Frank Kimmel lead a tight championship points battle into Salem, the site of Kimmel’s last victory on tour in September, ’08. Kimmel is the all-time winner at Salem with nine victories overall.

The winner’s list at Salem over the years contains a slew of ARCA champions including Kimmel, Iggy Katona, Jack Bowsher, Bill Baird, Patrick Sheltra, Justin Allgaier, Tracy Leslie, Nelson Stacy, Ron Hutcherson, Ramo Stott, Dave Dayton, Moose Myers, Marvin Smith, Bob Keselowski, Bob Brevak and Tim Steele. Other notable ARCA/Salem winners include NASCAR Cup champ Bobby Allison, ’52 Indy 500 winner Troy Ruttman, USAC/ARCA stock car veteran Don White and NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader.

In addition to the ARCA RE/MAX Series, the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will join the raceday slate with a 50-lap main event. The ARCA Truck race will mark the season championship finale for the 11-year tour.

Practice for the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic 200 is from 1:05 PM to 2:35 PM followed by Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell at 4:00 PM. The ARCA Lincoln Welders 50 goes at 5:30 followed by prerace and driver introductions for the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic, scheduled to roll just after 7:00 PM.

ARCA Fall Classic Party to Feature Josh and Holly from CMT’s “Can You Duet?”

Josh and Holly, Kentuckiana’s hottest music duo, are scheduled to headline the annual Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic Party, presented by Danny’s Heating & Air and Guitars Strings & Things.

The talented duo, whose quick rise to prominence was facilitated by being selected for the 2009 edition of CMT’s “Can You Duet?”, will be performing following the 200-lap ARCA RE/MAX Series race on Saturday night, September 19th.

Josh and Holly, who were selected from over 6,000 other hopefuls for the popular reality TV show, perform a mix of county, blues and rock tunes during their live performances.

Holly, who made it to the final six in the CMT competition, grew up just southeast of Salem in Pekin, Ind., and Josh is from Louisville.

Admission to the ARCA Fall Classic Party is free for those attending the Sept. 19th race.
