No. 31 Brandt Chevrolet News and Notes

· Turner Motorsports welcomes Allgaier… This weekend’s event at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) marks Justin Allgaier’s debut with Turner Motorsports. The Nationwide Series young gun will pilot the team’s No. 31 Brandt Chevrolet Impala with veteran Sprint Cup Series crew chief, Jimmy Elledge, calling the shots. In 74 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) starts over three seasons, Allgaier boasts one win, 11 top-five and 32 top-10 finishes and three pole awards. He has led a total of 311 laps. In 2010, Allgaier was the Nationwide Series’ top-finishing series regular (fourth) behind champion Brad Keselowski, and former NNS champions Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch.

· Flying the BRANDT colors… Allgaier will hit the newly resurfaced DIS with BRANDT adorning his No. 31 Chevrolet Impala. The Springfield, Ill.-based company is a leader and driving force in the agriculture industry founded to help farmers mitigate the risks inherent in nature. BRANDT’s NNS debut will be hard to miss. The organization is excited to see Allgaier spread their message and ‘TAKE CONTROL’ of the field in his neon red Chevy.

· Welcome aboard Jimmy Elledge… As previously noted veteran crew chief, Jimmy Elledge will be sitting atop the No.31 pit box. Bringing with him a wealth of experience, Elledge has been a part of several championship-winning organizations and has worked with an impressive mix of veteran and rookie drivers including Turner Motorsports driver Reed Sorenson. He has one Sprint Cup Series victory to his credit, leading Bobby Hamilton to his final win at Talladega in 2001.

· ‘New car’ success… Allgaier is eager to get the 2011 season underway! With changes including organization, manufacturer and car body style, he is excited to hit the race track. Allgaier has already had success in the series’ ‘new car’, with one top-five and three top-10 starts and two top-five finishes in the car’s four events last season. He led a total of 13 laps in the ‘new car’ with a best finish of third coming at Charlotte Motor Speedway in October.

· DIS: By the numbers… In four NNS starts at the historic 2.5-mile tri-oval, Allgaier has one top-five and two top-10 finishes with 11 laps led. His career-best finish at the track (fourth) came in the 2010 NNS season-opener and his best start came in July of the same year. All 11 of his laps led, as well as his best qualifying effort, came in July 2010 – the debut of the Nationwide Series ‘new car’.

· Start of a new era for Turner Motorsports… The NASCAR season-opener weekend will mark the start of a new era for Turner Motorsports. The team has expanded in 2011 from a two-truck operation in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) to become the largest stand-alone multi-series team in NASCAR’s top-tier touring series, fielding three entries in the NCWTS and four entries in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS). Three of the team’s regular NNS drivers (Jason Leffler, Reed Sorenson and Justin Allgaier) have been pegged as viable contenders to win the 2011 NNS driver championship.

· This week’s Impala… In this weekend’s NNS season-opener, Allgaier and the No. 31 BRANDT team will hit the track with chassis number TMS-110. This is a brand new chassis in the Turner Motorsports stable.

Justin Allgaier on the 2011 season

“2011 is going to be a great year for everyone at Turner Motorsports. The feeling around the shop is a lot like the feeling my team had when we won the ’08 ARCA championship, so that’s a good sign! I think we would all love to see the champion come out of the Turner stable, but for me the year is going to be about getting wins. My team and I really want to concentrate on battling for the win every week, and we think that is what is going to win the championship this year. Mr. Turner has put a great program in place here and I can’t wait to make him proud with our performance on the track.”

Justin Allgaier on Daytona Int’l Speedway

“I’m not really sure what to expect from Daytona this year. We were there in July with the new car and it was tough because of the old rough racing surface, but with the resurfacing it’s going to be a whole new race. I’ve heard that it is a little like Talladega and that the racing will probably be in tight groups all day, but we will see when we get out there. The race will probably be less physically demanding because of the smoother surface. That means we will be even sharper at the end of the day and will truly be able to battle as hard as we can for the win. Hopefully I can tell you how racing on the new surface is from victory lane on Saturday afternoon!”
