Champion Crew Chief Tripp Bruce, Joins Stringer Motorsports To Lead Brad Sweet’s Entrance Into The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series

Filed under Press Releases, Truck Series

MOORESVILLE, NC (January 12, 2010) – Stringer Motorsports is pleased to announce that 2008 champion crew chief, Trip Bruce, has joined the organization to lead USAC open-wheel sensation, Brad Sweet, in his entrance into the Camping World Truck Series in 2010.

Bruce has worked for some of the most respected teams in the industry, spanning all three of NASCAR’s top series. In 2004, Bruce got his first job as a crew chief when he joined Ultra Motorsports to lead their No. 2 entry in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Under Bruce’s leadership, the team posted one pole award at Richmond International Raceway and three wins – Martinsville with driver, Jamie McMurray and Darlington and Homestead with Kasey Kahne.

In 2005, Bruce joined Evernham Motorsports to lead its NASCAR Nationwide Series program. Working with numerous drivers over two years, Bruce compiled 3 wins, 4 top-fives and 12 top-10 finishes, winning Crew Chief of the Year in 2006.

In 2007, Bruce returned to Bill Davis Racing, where he worked from 1999 to 2003, to serve as crew chief for Johnny Benson in the Camping World Truck Series. The two clicked from day one, capturing four wins, 12 top-five and 19 top-10 finishes in their first season together. The following year, Bruce saw a life-long goal fulfilled as he and Benson claimed five wins, five poles, 14 top-five and 18 top-10 finishes en route to capturing the 2008 championship.

Stringer Motorsports owner, Doug Stringer, is thrilled to have the opportunity to hire someone with the caliber and championship-experience that Bruce brings to the table.

“Trip has worked for some of the most successful organizations in the industry and brings to this team a wealth of knowledge and experience,” said Stringer. “When looking for someone to lead Brad Sweet’s transition from open-wheel to stock cars, I knew I needed someone that not only could build this team into a winning organization but also someone that could be a strong mentor to Brad. Trip fits those requirements to a T.”

For his part, Bruce is more than up for the challenge of not only working with a relatively new race team, but also a driver new to the NASCAR ranks.

“It’s exciting to be a part of an organization that is just beginning to blossom,” said Bruce. “We are basically starting from scratch and while that is a challenge, it’s one that I enthusiastically welcome. Doug Stringer is no stranger to success in this sport and is dedicated to building this team into a championship-winning organization. I look forward to this new endeavor and to helping Brad Sweet make a successful transition into the Camping World Truck Series.”

The current race schedule for the No. 90 Great Clips team is as follows:

Atlanta Motor Speedway (March 6)

Dover International Speedway (May 14)

Charlotte Motor Speedway (May 21)

Gateway International Raceway (July 16)

O’Reilly Raceway Park (July 23)

Bristol Motor Speedway (August 18)

Phoenix International Raceway (November 12)

Homestead-Miami Speedway (November 19)
