It is a reunion of sorts for Shiplett and Kahne who were paired together in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) during the 2007 season and put down impressive results including two victories.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity to join Turner Motorsports,” said Shiplett. “This is a team that has proven that they have all of the necessary tools to go out and contend for wins each and every week and I look forward to helping to add to their success. I’m especially excited to work with Kasey again and to establishing a strong relationship with Brad. Great Clips is the longest-running sponsor in the series, so I am very proud to represent them both on and off the track.”

Shiplett, a former racer himself, has over 20 years of racing experience and has worked at several championship-caliber teams in all three of NASCAR’s top touring series. The Ohio-native will have a unique opportunity next season to work with a successful veteran (Kahne) and an up and coming rookie driver (Sweet). Kahne will be driving the No. 38 for 15 races throughout the year with Sweet stepping in to fill out the balance of the 33 races on the NNS schedule.

For his part, Kahne looks forward to teaming back up with Shiplett and feels that he could be just the person to help lead the No. 38 Great Clips team back to victory lane.

“It will be great to work with Mike again,” said Kahne. “He’s done a lot in the sport and he will be a great asset to Turner Motorsports. This 38 team has been on the verge of getting back into victory lane and I think the addition of Mike to the team is just what we need to get us there.”

Great Clips, Inc. is currently the longest-running sponsor in the NNS and has used the Nationwide Series as their primary marketing platform for the last 11 years. Their sponsorship began in 2000 with Akins Motorsports as they climbed on board to sponsor the team’s No. 38 entry with driver, Christian Elder. Mark Green piloted the No. 38 for one season before general manager, Doug Stringer, hired up-and-coming talent, Kasey Kahne, thereby solidifying Great Clips commitment to their NASCAR sponsorship.

The partnerships with these three drivers stems from the company’s long relationship with Leffler and Sweet (Leffler represented the brand in the NNS from 2006-2011 and Sweet has represented them in select NASCAR Camping World Truck Series over the last three seasons), as well as their partnership with Kasey Kahne Racing, which fields a Great Clips sponsored entry in the World of Outlaws Series.

All three drivers have deep roots in open wheel racing and all three look to be strong contenders for the Golden Driller trophy. Leffler, who will be driving for owner Keith Kunz, is credited with multiple USAC championships throughout his career. His best performance in the five-day event occurred in 1998 when he came away with a second-place finish. Other top finishes include a fifth-place in 2004 and ninth in 2000. Leffler did lay claim to the title as an owner when Damion Gardner won in the event in 2008, driving under the Leffler Racing banner.

Sweet and Hummel will both be driving KKR entries in the event. Sweet also made a name for himself in the national open wheel racing circuits. Tapped to drive for KKR in 2008, Sweet became a superstar in his own right in the USAC racing world with victories including the Belleville Midget Nationals, the Knoxville Midget Nationals and both the Sprint Car and Midget “Four Crown Nationals” at Eldora Speedway. Sweet has made four starts in the Chili Bowl Nationals with a best finish of ninth in 2010.

Hummel, who works for KKR as a mechanic, will be making his third start in the Chili Bowl Nationals. Prior to working at KKR, Hummel moonlighted in the midget series in California and Indiana. His career-best finish was seventh at Belleville.

After a practice session on Monday, January 9th, the 26th Annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals will kick off one night later with the first of four qualifying nights. For Leffler, Tuesday night will include the fourth annual International Chili Bowl Race of Champions, featuring past event winners and other top Chili Bowl contenders squaring off in a special feature race. The action continues with Wednesday’s River Spirit Casino Qualifier, Thursday’s Suburban Chevrolet Qualifier and then Friday’s International Qualifier.

The top-three finishers from each of the Qualifying Night features will automatically lock into the Saturday night (January 14th) Lucas Oil Chili Bowl championship feature, with the balance of Saturday’s Lucas Oil championship feature events lined up according to Qualifying Night finishes.

(January 2, 2012) – Turner Motorsports, along with Great Clips, Inc., is proud to announce that Kasey Kahne will increase his time behind the wheel of the No. 38 Great Clips Chevrolet in 2012 to compete in 15 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) events. Up and coming driver, Brad Sweet, who has competed on a limited basis in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) for the last two years and in the USAC Sprint Car Series and World of Outlaws Series for Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) for the last four seasons, will make a run for the Rookie of the Year title and will round out the balance of the 33-race NNS schedule when Kahne is not behind the wheel.

Kahne began his NNS career wheeling the No. 38 car with Great Clips, Inc. serving as sponsor. Together, Kahne and the world’s largest salon brand reached momentous milestones including capturing Kahne’s first NNS victory in 2003 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It was also Great Clips’ first win as primary sponsor. In 2005, Kahne captured his second career win at Texas Motor Speedway before stepping out of the ride as he progressed to the Sprint Cup Series ranks. In 2010, Kahne decided to return to the NNS on a limited basis and found himself back at the helm of the No. 38 machine, sporting the banner of his longtime sponsor. During both the 2010 and 2011 NNS seasons, Kahne piloted the car for eight races, racking up four top-five and six top-10 finishes.

Following in the footsteps of Kahne, Sweet made a name for himself in the national open-wheel racing circuits. After being tapped to drive for KKR in 2008 by Kahne himself, Sweet became a superstar in his own right in the USAC racing world with victories including the Belleville Midget Nationals, the Knoxville Midget Nationals and both the Sprint Car and Midget “Four Crown Nationals” at Eldora Speedway. Showing no signs of slowing his success, Sweet will embark upon a new adventure as he makes his debut in the NNS in 2012 with Turner Motorsports. No stranger to the Great Clips Racing family, Sweet has made 18 NCWTS starts as well as one NNS start (2010) sporting the Great Clips banner over the last three seasons.

Kahne has thoroughly enjoyed reuniting with his longtime sponsor and is looking forward to another season representing the Minneapolis-based company.

“I have had such a long-standing relationship with Great Clips and it’s been great teaming back up with them again,” says Kahne. “They gave me my first real shot in this sport and that is something I have never forgotten.”

For his part, Sweet is ready to jump into this next phase of his career and is grateful for the support of Great Clips, Turner Motorsports and Kahne.

“I can’t begin to say how excited and grateful I am for this opportunity to compete in the Nationwide Series and to join Kasey in representing Great Clips both on and off the track,” says Sweet. “Turner Motorsports is a first class organization with equipment capable of contending for wins week in and week out. I don’t think I could be in a better position to take the next step in my racing career.”

Great Clips, Inc. is currently the longest-running sponsor in the NNS and has used the Nationwide Series as their primary marketing platform for the last 11 years.
No. 32 Red Hot Insurance Quotes Silverado Team News and Notes

First Time For Feese At Homestead-Miami… Blake Feese will make his first start at Homestead-Miami Speedway this Friday evening. In his eight starts this season for Turner Motorsports, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) rookie has earned one top-five and one top-10 finish, with his best starting spot of third coming at Texas Motor Speedway. He holds an average finishing spot of 18.2.

Red Hot in Miami… Red Hot Insurance Quotes will adorn the hood of Feese’s No. 32 Chevy this Friday evening at HMS. In it’s first foray into the racing world, Red Hot Insurance Quotes works to save hundreds on auto, home, and life insurance and strives to provide excellent care for its customers.

007… The No. 32 Red Hot Insurance Quotes Chevrolet Silverado team will unload chassis TMS-007 for Friday evening’s NCWTS season-finale. This chassis last saw track action in ‘Sin City’, where Feese qualified 19th and brought home a 13th-place finish. Feese also ran TMS-007 at Atlanta Motor Speedway where he brought home a career best fourth-place finish. Earlier this summer at Nashville Superspeedway, the rookie driver started 18th and finished in the 17th spot. TMS-007 also has a pair of top-10 finishes with Brad Sweet behind the wheel. Sweet started fourth and finished 10th at Charlotte Motor Speedway and followed that up at Kansas Speedway, starting and finishing in the ninth spot.

Looking Back on 2011 for the No. 32… The No. 32 Chevy saw four drivers take the wheel in 2011. This included three rookie drivers and a NASCAR legend who returned to the NCWTS after being absent for three years. The season started off with World of Outlaws racer, Brad Sweet, behind the wheel for the first 10 events of the season. He notched two top-10 finishes before closing out his run and making way for Canadian driver, Steve Arpin, who made his NCWTS debut with a splash, qualifying fourth at Texas Motor Speedway. The NCWTS rookie closed out his run at Chicagoland Speedway, grabbing his first career pole and becoming only third foreign-born NCWTS driver to do so. NASCAR veteran, Mark Martin, made his return to the NCWTS with the iconic Exide Batteries paint scheme for two races. Martin was on track to bring the No. 32 Chevy to victory lane, but his dominating performance was derailed by a late race accident at Michigan International Speedway. Feese returned to NASCAR this season, taking the reigns for the remainder of 2011, capturing one top-five and one top-10 finish. Overall a pretty strong year for the No. 32 Turner Motorsports crew.

Feese in 2011… After being absent from the NASCAR circuit, Feese made his return at Nashville Superspeedway earlier this summer and didn’t look back. Over the course of nine races Feese has accumulated nine NCWTS starts this season. He has earned one top-five and one top-10 finish, and earned a best career starting spot of third at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this month. He has an average finishing spot of 18.2.

“I’m looking forward to heading to Homestead this weekend. It’s a track I’ve never competed at and I can’t wait to get on the track to feel it out. This season has been a rejuvenation for me and quite the learning experience. I can’t thank Mr. Turner enough for the opportunity he provided me by letting me get behind the wheel of his No. 32 Chevy. I’ll definitely take what I’ve learned this season and look to build on it in the future.”

Event Preview Fact Sheet

Event / Date: Ford 200 – Nov. 18, 2011

Venue: Homestead-Miami Speedway – Homestead, Fla.

This Week’s Monster Energy Chevrolet Impala … Ricky Carmichael will pilot chassis TMS-021 from the Turner Motorsports (TMS) NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) stable in Friday night’s Ford 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Built new for 2011, this truck saw action most recently at Las Vegas Motor Speedway where, despite being collected in an early-race incident, Carmichael finished 12th. This truck also saw action this season at Charlotte Motor Speedway (St. 17, Fn. 12), Texas Motor Speedway in June (St. 9, Fn. 6), Kentucky Speedway in July (St. 14, Fn. 16), Michigan International Speedway (St. 7, Fn. 12) Chicagoland Speedway (St. 4, Fn.25) and Atlanta Motor Speedway (St. 1 Fn. 8).

Phoenix Facts … Carmichael participated in last weekend’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race where he and his Doug George-led Monster Energy Team turned in a gritty 15th-place performance in the WYPALL 200 Powered by Kimberly-Clark Professional at Phoenix International Raceway. It was Carmichael’s fourth and final NASCAR Nationwide Series start of 2011 but perhaps, his most determined. The ever-resolute competitor battled through miscues on pit road, handling issues and late-race contact with another racer to muster a respectable top-15 showing behind the wheel of the No. 34 Monster Energy Chevrolet Impala.

In a Nutshell … The 2011 season marks Carmichael’s second year competing on a full-time basis and third overall in the NCWTS. Since making his series debut 67 races ago, he has gone on to earn four top-five and 18 top-10 finishes. Over those same 67 races, the motocross legend has logged a 14.8 average start, a 16.9 average finish, led 40 laps, completed 90.3 percent of the laps run and earned just over of $862,000 in purse money. In Nationwide Series competition, he’s made eight starts spanning the last two years and logged a career-best ninth-place finish earlier this season at Road America.

2011 Totals … In 24 NCWTS races this season, Carmichael has notched one pole, one top-five and seven top-10 finishes. The 15-time AMA National Champion has led 39 laps this season, recorded a 16.3 average start and a 17.2 average finish. He has completed 3,254 of 3,719 total laps (87.5 percent) and finished on the lead lap 13 times.

Nationwide Notes … In 33 NASCAR Nationwide Series races in 2011, TMS-fielded teams have notched three wins, 21 top-five and 62 top-10 finishes. TMS’s No. 32 Dollar General team picked up one spot in owner’s points and now sits sixth after Ron Hornaday Jr., finished 13th last weekend at Phoenix International Raceway. Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 31 Brandt Chevrolet, was ninth in the final rundown after Phoenix and maintained third in the driver point standings. While Jason Leffler was credited with 26th at Phoenix, the Long Beach, Calif., native still held on to sixth in points heading into the final race of the year.

RC Live … On Thursday, Nov. 17, Carmichael will appear at the NASCAR Championship Drive at Lummus Park located along Ocean Drive, between 7th and 9th Streets, in Miami Beach. The Clearwater Fla., native will be on hand from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. for a question and answer session and to sign autographs for race fans.

Turner Truck Totals … In 23 NCWTS races in 2011, TMS entries have earned 13 top-five and 31 top-10 finishes. James Buescher leads the way with 19 top 10s and is third in points – 28 behind leader Austin Dillon. Buescher has only finished outside the top 10 four times in the 23 NCWTS races in which he has competed this season. Carmichael has logged one top five and seven top 10s and is 15th in the standings. Blake Feese finished fourth and Ryan Newman was fifth in Atlanta. Mark Martin finished seventh in the No. 32 machine at Pocono while Brad Sweet drove the same truck for the first eight races of the year, logging a pair of top-10 results.

Get to the Point(s) … Carmichael jumped from 16th to 15th in points following his eighth-place finish two weeks ago at Texas Motor Speedway. Buescher is third in the standings. While Feese has made just nine starts in 2011, he is 26th in points. The No. 32 machine is also assured a spot on Friday night’s starting grid by virtue of being 20th in the NCWTS owner point standings.

Welcome Aboard … Turner Motorsports and Monster Energy are pleased to feature CVS / pharmacy on the lower-rear quarter panels of the No. 4 entry this weekend in Homestead. CVS/pharmacy, the retail division of CVS Caremark Corporation, is America’s leading retail pharmacy with more than 7,200 CVS/pharmacy and Longs Drug stores. CVS/pharmacy is committed to improving the lives of those we serve by making innovative and high-quality health and pharmacy services safe, affordable and easy to access, both in its stores and online at CVS.com.

The race will be televised live on SPEED and broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90. Qualifying for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series’ season-finale will be televised live on SPEED the same day at 4:30 p.m. EST.

After three years racing in the Camping World Truck Series, where do you think you are on the learning curve and have you met your expectations?

“I think I’m getting closer to where I need to be with my learning curve. I’m getting more comfortable when I get out on the race track so I can focus more on actually racing and getting the vehicle to where it’s handling better. As far as my own expectations go, there have been times where I’ve over-exceeded my expectations and times when I’ve under under-performed. I’m not a great guy to ask about judging myself. I think if you take everything into account and you know everything about my program, I’ve done pretty well, all things considered. I think I’ve done a pretty good job at holding my own against guys who have been racing on four wheels for a long time. I’m somewhat happy but, me being the competitive person that I am, I expect more and want more.”

What have been the biggest challenges?

“The biggest challenge I face every single week is my lack of experience when we don’t unload that fast and being able to explain what the vehicle is doing so I can give good feedback about what to change so we can get faster. I need to be better when it comes to taking some of the guesswork away from the crew chief. My lack of seat-time has hindered me a little bit when it comes to restarts closer to the end of races and knowing all the tricks of the trade. I think my lack of experience is pretty obvious when I’m racing guys like Hornaday (Ron Hornaday Jr.) and some of the other guys who have been doing this for years and years. That’s really when I get taken to school.”

Can you put 2011 into perspective?

“I expected to have a better season than we did. My goals at the beginning of the season were to be inside the top five in points and no worse than being in the top 10. I think, given the amount of experience I have, being inside the top five would have almost been the equivalent of winning the championship. It’s definitely been a let down from that perspective. At the same time, we made some strides as a team that shouldn’t be overlooked. We won the pole at Atlanta and ran up front all day at both restrictor-plate races. We also led some laps and that was a big deal for me, personally. I definitely feel like I’ve made some accomplishments this year but the point thing is definitely a letdown. I’m not one to make excuses so all I can do is put my best foot forward and work hard to be better next year.”

No. 32 AccuDoc Solutions Silverado Team News and Notes

Waking Up in Vegas… This weekend will mark Blake Feese’s first visit to Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS). The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) competitor is looking to continue his solid run this season, which includes a career high fourth-place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway and an average finish of 14.6.

007… The No. 32 AccuDoc Solutions Chevrolet Silverado team will unload chassis TMS-007 for Saturday afternoon’s 146-lap event. This chassis last saw track action at Atlanta Motor Speedway where Feese brought home a fourth-place finish. Earlier this summer at Nashville Superspeedway, Feese started 18th and finished in the 17thspot. TMS-007 also has a pair of top-10 finishes with Brad Sweet behind the wheel. Sweet started fourth and finished 10th at Charlotte Motor Speedway and followed that up at Kansas Speedway, starting and finishing in the ninth spot.

Rolling The Dice in Vegas… LVMS is a special place for Turner Motorsports. The organization claimed their first ever NASCAR victory earlier this year at Sin City’s 1.5 mile track with Mark Martin behind the wheel of the No. 32 Dollar General Chevrolet. In dramatic fashion, Martin took the lead on the final lap to claim his 49th NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) victory.

AccuDoc Solutions… AccuDoc Solutions will serve as primary sponsor of the No. 32 Chevy Silverado this Saturday afternoon at LVMS. AccuDoc Solutions is based in Morrisville, N.C. and provides billing- statement printing and processing to hospitals and hospital-based physicians. The Turner Motorsports marketing partner also adorns the hood of Jason Leffler’s No. 30 machine in several NNS events in 2011.

About Blake… Feese got his start racing quarter midgets at the age of 10. He progressed through the winged sprint car ranks over the years winning championships and prestigious races including wins at Knoxville Speedway, Eldora Speedway and the Dirt Track at Charlotte. In 2003, he made the switch to stock cars, competing in the ARCA Racing Series (ARS). In 2004, he partnered with Hendrick Motorsports, winning his first ARS event at Nashville Superspeedway. He went on to earn two wins, two top-five and four top-10 finishes that year. The next year he competed in six NNS races and also made his NCWTS debut at Kentucky Speedway. Following a year running the sprint car circuit, he returned to the ARS in 2007, running a limited schedule and earning one top-five and four top-10 finishes in four starts. In 2009, he made his second NCWTS start at Nashville Superspeedway finishing in 12th place.

Live On The Airwaves & Radiowaves… Live coverage of the Smith’s 350 from LVMS will begin Saturday, Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The race will be televised live on SPEED and broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.

“I’m looking forward to Las Vegas this weekend. It’ll be my first time there, so I’ll rely on the experience of my teammates Ricky [Carmichael] and James [Buescher]. It will also give me the opportunity to continue building a relationship with my new crew chief, Mark Rette. We worked well together in Kentucky and we are looking to improve on that finish this weekend.”

(October 4, 2011) - Turner Motorsports announced today that Brian Vickers will assume driving duties of the No. 32 Dollar General Chevy, beginning this weekend at Kansas Speedway. Vickers, the 2003 NASCAR Nationwide Series Champion, who has a long-standing relationship with the team, will also get behind the wheel for the Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The driver for the remaining 2011 races will be announced at a later date.

“We are continuing to evaluate our racing program as we look to the 2012 season,” said team owner Steve Turner. “Brian Vickers is a proven winner at NASCAR’s highest level in addition to being a driver at Turner Motorsports over the last four seasons. He has worked with Trent Owens in the past which will allow us to immediately focus on the task at hand. We are confident Brian can help assess where we are, as a company currently, and the direction we are going as we build our programs for 2012 and beyond.”

Vickers previously competed in the Nationwide Series for Turner Motorsports on a part-time basis from 2007-2010. In 41 starts, Vickers compiled 15 top-five and 28 top-10 finishes along with three pole awards. Vickers has made four Nationwide Series starts at Kansas Speedway, notching one top-10 finish back in 2007 while driving the No. 10 entry for Turner Motorsports.

“I can’t thank everyone at Dollar General and Turner Motorsports enough for this opportunity,” said Vickers. “They have been so supportive of me both personally and professionally over the past few years, and it’s great to continue this relationship for a few more races. I am looking forward to driving this new Nationwide Series car with Trent and the guys behind me!”

The No. 32 team remains under the leadership of Trent Owens, the same crew chief Vickers worked with during the majority of his time at Turner Motorsports.

Turner Motorsports web design partner, RACERSITES, will be featured on his Impala with a special JustinAllgaier.com paint scheme to coincide with the launch of the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) competitor’s new website this week.

“The boys over at RACERSITES have been developing industry-leading web sites in the racing space for years,” said Allgaier. “They are, without question, the right partner for me in setting the standard for driver websites and I know my fans and business partners will be as pleased as I am with the new justinallgaier.com.”

This site includes unique elements such as exclusive feature videos of Justin and an online store for fans to purchase their Allgaier gear.

“Justin is undoubtedly a rising star in NASCAR and through this enhanced website, fans will form a deeper connection with him,” said RACERSITES CEO Chuck Tate. “Justin is able to get personal through this site through authentic dialogue with fans and demonstrate his character both on and off the track.”

Currently in his third year of fulltime NNS competition, Allgaier has earned two-wins, three-poles, 17 top-five and 46 top-10 finishes. The Riverton-Ill.-native got his start racing Midget and Sprint cars at age six before moving on to stock cars as a teenager. After capturing the ARCA Racing Series championship in 2008, he graduated to the Nationwide Series the following year and claimed the Rookie of the Year honors with three top-five and 12 top-10 finishes. He captured his first win in 2010 at Bristol Motor Speedway, becoming the only Nationwide Series regular to see victory lane for over a year. Thus far in 2011, Allgaier has found his way back to victory lane at Chicagoland Speedway and has earned six top-five and 14 top-10 finishes.

Event/Date: Kentucky 225 – October 1, 2011

Venue: Kentucky Speedway – Sparta, Ky.

· This Week’s Monster Energy Chevrolet Silverado … Ricky Carmichael will pilot chassis TMS-013 from the Turner Motorsports (TMS) NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) stable in Saturday night’s Kentucky 225 at Kentucky Speedway. This is the same truck Carmichael raced earlier this season at Pocono Raceway (St. 15, Fn. 20) and Dover International Raceway (St. 20, Fn. 29). Following Dover, the truck was outfitted with a new body, including front and rear clips after a hard crash sent him to the garage area prior to the conclusion of the event. This truck also saw action in April at Nashville Superspeedway where Carmichael started 23rd and finished 14th. Built new in 2010, this Chevrolet Silverado was the workhorse of the Monster Energy Team’s fleet last fall. Carmichael drove the same Monster Energy Chevy last year at Chicagoland Speedway (St. 13, Fn. 28), Kentucky Speedway (St. 5, Fn. 9), Las Vegas Motor Speedway (St. 8, Fn. 9) and Homestead-Miami Speedway (St. 22, Fn. 21).

· A Look at Loudon … Carmichael and the Monster Energy Team battled handling issues throughout last Saturday’s F.W. Webb 175 but still managed to come away with a top-20 finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Despite chasing a temperamental-handling machine all afternoon, the 15-time AMA National Champion hung tough during the less-than-ideal day. While the end result fell short of expectations, Carmichael still held on to 18th in the division’s driver point standings.

· Kentucky Count … Carmichael has a trio of NCWTS starts to his credit at Kentucky Speedway and calls a fifth-place finish a career-best at the 14-degree banked, mile-and-a-half tri-oval. The Tallahassee, Fla., resident has logged an 11.7 starting average coupled with a solid 8.3 finishing average. He has completed all but one of the laps run over those three races and earned just over $52,000 in purse money.

· In a Nutshell … The 2011 season marks Carmichael’s second year competing on a full-time basis and third overall in the NCWTS. Since making his series debut 62 races ago, he has gone on to earn one pole, three top-five and 15 top-10 finishes. Over those same 62 races, the motocross legend has logged a 15.0 average start, a 17.2 average finish, led 39 laps, completed 91.4 percent of the laps run and earned just over of $790,000 in purse money.

· Turner Truck Totals … In 19 NCWTS races in 2011, TMS entries have amassed three poles, 10 top-five and 25 top-10 finishes. James Buescher leads the way with 16 top 10s this season and is currently second in points. With the exception of Martinsville and Chicagoland, Buescher has finished inside the top 10 in every race in which he has competed in the division this season. Carmichael has logged four top 10s, including a season-best sixth-place showing at Texas Motor Speedway and is 18th in the standings. Blake Feese finished fourth and Ryan Newman was fifth in Atlanta, three races ago. Mark Martin finished seventh in the No. 32 machine at Pocono while Brad Sweet drove the same truck for the first eight races of the year, logging top 10s at Charlotte and Kansas.

· Blake’s Back In … For the fifth time this season, Feese will climb aboard the No. 32 AccuDoc Solutions machine for Saturday night’s race in Kentucky. Feese will fill out the remainder of the 2011 schedule in the seat of the third truck in the TMS stable.

· Get to the Point(s) … Carmichael maintained 18th in the NCWTS driver point standings after finishing 19th last weekend. Still, he’s just 16 points outside the top 15 and 22 behind 14th-place Miguel Paludo. Buescher slipped to second in points following New Hampshire but trails leader Austin Dillon by a mere two points. While Feese has made just four starts in 2011, the No. 32 machine is assured a spot on the starting grid by virtue of being 16th in the NCWTS owner point standings.

· Welcome Aboard … ValuMarket and Thorntons will be featured on the lower-rear quarter panels of the No. 4 Monster Energy Silverado this weekend in Kentucky. ValuMarket has been serving the Louisville, Ky., area grocery needs since 1978 with locations in Hurstbourne Plaza, Outer Loop Plaza, Mid City Mall, Iroquois Manor and Mt. Washington, Ky. Thorntons Inc. is a leading, independent gasoline/convenience-chain retailer, marketing throughout the Midwest under the brand name Thorntons. Thorntons Inc. ranks No. 250 among Forbes magazine’s 500 largest privately held companies. Headquartered in Louisville, Ky., Thorntons operates over 160 gasoline and convenience stores including one travel plaza, eight car washes and ranks as one of Kentucky’s largest privately held companies with over $1.4 billion in annual revenue.

· Nationwide Notes … In 28 NASCAR Nationwide Series races in 2011, TMS-fielded teams have notched three wins, 20 top-five and 54 top-10 finishes. Reed Sorenson, driver of the No. 32 Dollar General Chevrolet, maintained third in points after finishing 10th two weekends ago in Chicago. Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 31 Brandt Chevrolet, was 14th in the final rundown and held on to fifth in the standings. Jason Leffler was credited with 12th at Chicagoland Speedway and held on to sixth in points. The drivers and teams of the NASCAR Nationwide Series head to Dover, Del., this weekend for the second stop on the 2011 schedule at the “Monster Mile.” ESPN2’s live coverage of the One Main Financial 200 from Dover International Speedway will be televised on Saturday, Oct. 1 beginning at 3 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The race will also be broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90. Qualifying for Round 29 of the 2011 Nationwide Series Championship will be televised live on SPEED the same day beginning at noon EDT.

· See the Monster Energy Silverado … The Monster Energy Chevrolet Silverado show truck will make a pair of stops this weekend in Louisville, Ky. On Saturday, the No. 4 machine will visit Thorntons Store No. 31 located at 12412 La Grange Road from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Later that afternoon, Carmichael’s race truck will make a final pit stop from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Valu Market in the Outer Loop Plaza located at 7519 Outer Loop.

· Up to Speed … Live coverage of the Kentucky 225 from Kentucky Speedway will take the green flag Saturday, Oct. 1 beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT. The race will be televised live on SPEED and broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90. Qualifying for the 20th of 25 races on the 2011 NCWTS schedule will be televised the same day on SPEED at 6 p.m. EDT.

Talk about your thoughts heading into Kentucky this weekend.

“I’m really excited about going to Kentucky Speedway this weekend. Our mile-and-a-half program has turned the corner over the last month or so I’m very optimistic about this weekend. I’ve had great results at the track so it’s definitely a place where I look forward to racing. We didn’t have the results we were looking for in July but we’ve made huge strides with our intermediate program since then. I think we’ve got a great shot at racing inside the top five and certainly the top 10. I like the track a lot so it should be a fun night of racing.”

Is there anything that stands out that makes Kentucky different than the other mile-and-a-halves where the Truck Series races?

“Compared to some of the other mile-and-a-halves, Kentucky is pretty rough. It’s tough to keep from spinning your tires on the restarts because the track is so rough. It’s really bumpy between (turns) One and Two so you really need to get your truck handling well in the corners.”

Is Kentucky a one groove race track or do a couple of lanes open up?

“There’s a lot of room coming off of (turn) Four so you can run the middle or the bottom lane. It’s a multi-groove race track.”

This weekend is a companion event with the IZOD IndyCar Series. Do the tires that the Indy cars run affect the race track and will that reflect how your truck handles?

“It’s never been an issue for me. I don’t feel like the tires that the Indy cars run affect how our truck handles.”

No. 32 AccuDoc Solutions Silverado Team News and Notes

Last Time Out For Blake… Three weeks ago at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Blake Feese earned a career-best fourth-place finish. Feese started from the 27th position and drove his way inside the top-five by the end of 200 laps. Under race conditions, Feese ranked seventh among successful green-flag passes, making 75 passes from start to finish.

This Week’s Silverado… The No. 32 AccuDoc Solutions Chevrolet Silverado team will unload chassis TMS-017 for Saturday afternoon’s 200-mile event. This chassis last saw action at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, where Steve Arpin started 19th and finished in the 13th spot. TMS-017 also has a pair of starts earlier this season at Martinsville Speedway where Brad Sweet started 18th and finished 15th and Nashville Superspeedway where Sweet started 21st and finished in the 28th position.

Pole For One Pole For All… All three Turner Motorsports NCWTS teams have claimed pole awards this season. James Buescher started from the point position at his home track this past June at Texas Motor Speedway. Additionally, Ricky Carmichael earned his first career pole just two races ago at Atlanta Motor Speedway, while Steve Arpin also picked up his first career pole and set a new track record this past weekend at Chicagoland Speedway.

AccuDoc Solutions… AccuDoc Solutions will serve as primary sponsor of the No. 32 Chevy Silverado this Saturday afternoon at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. AccuDoc Solutions is based in Morrisville, N.C. and provides billing- statement printing and processing to hospitals and hospital-based physicians. The Turner Motorsports marketing partner also adorns the hood of Jason Leffler’s No. 30 machine in several NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) events in 2011.

Following a year running the sprit car circuit, he returned to the ARS in 2007, running a limited schedule and earning one top-five and four top-10 finishes in four starts. In 2009, he made his second NCWTS start at Nashville Superspeedway finishing in the 12th position. Just a few weeks ago he brought home a career-best finish of fourth at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Blake Feese on New Hampshire Motor Speedway:

“This weekend will be my first visit to New Hampshire, so I’m going in looking to learn and build on the team’s success as of late. We’re coming off a top-five finish in Atlanta and the team had a great run with Steve Arpin last weekend, so we have momentum and confidence on our side. I’ll rely on my teammates past experiences at the track and look to adapt my own driving style to bring home the AccuDoc Solutions Chevy with a good finish.”

August 26, 2011

No. 38 Great Clips Chevrolet News and Notes

Kahne back in the seat of the No. 38 Great Clips Chevy at Bristol… This weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, Kahne will make his sixth start of the season for Turner Motorsports in the No. 38 Chevrolet. In five previous starts, Kahne has recorded one top-five and two top-10 finishes and has placed outside of the top-20 on just one occasion.

Bristol Motor Speedway, by the numbers… In 14 NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at Bristol Motor Speedway, Kahne has one win, four top-five (including two runner-up finishes) and four top-10 finishes to his credit. He has led a cumulative 132 laps at the famed half-mile track. In the fall of 2007, Kahne fended off current Turner Motorsports teammate, Jason Leffler, to bring home the winner’s trophy. In his last visit to BMS in the No. 38 Great Clips Chevy, Kahne brought home a second-place finish.

2.0 finishing average for this week’s Impala… The No. 38 Great Clips team will hit the track with chassis TMS-113. This chassis has quite an impressive finishing average of 2.0. Kasey Kahne drove this chassis to a second-place finish in the spring event at Bristol and most recently James Buescher finished second in the same car at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis.

Who’s on the pit box? Stewart Cooper will call the shots for Kahne and serve as crew chief for the No. 38 Great Clips team in the eight races that he is behind the wheel.

Batter up! On September 5th, just two days before the Great Clips 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Kahne will throw out the first pitch at the Atlanta Braves game as they go up against the Washington Nationals. Look for the Great Clips showcar to round the bases sometime between the third and sixth inning!

New look for the Great Clips machine… For the remainder of the 2011 season, the No. 38 Great Clips Chevrolet will feature a new look with a special “Online Check-in” paint scheme. Recently, Great Clips launched the salon industry’s first-ever Online Check-In system which allows customers to remotely log in from a computer or smart phone and view the estimated wait time at surrounding salons. Consumers can click the “check-in” icon to add their name to the list at the Great Clips salon of their choice and, by the time they arrive, they are likely next or almost next in line-saving precious time they might have spent waiting in the lobby for their haircut.

Turner Motorsports: In the hunt… In 24 Nationwide Series events in 2011, Turner Motorsports-prepared entries have notched three wins, 19 top-five and 47 top-10 finishes. All three of Turner Motorsports’ championship-contending drivers are inside the top-six in the driver point standings with Reed Sorenson in third, Justin Allgaier in fourth and Jason Leffler in sixth.

Happy 10-Year Anniversary, Great Clips… This season marks Great Clips’ 10-year anniversary as a primary sponsor in the NNS. The Minneapolis-based Great Clips, Inc., which is currently the longest-running primary sponsor in the series, came onto the scene in 2001 as a primary sponsor of Akins Motorsports No. 38 entry, then driven by Christian Elder.

“A good handling car is important at a short-track like Bristol. You really have to work in practice to get the car where you want it for the race. Staying out of trouble is the key. I’ve been involved in accidents running in the back and I’ve gotten into accidents while running up front. Trouble can find you anywhere on this track, so that’s probably the biggest challenge when you go into a race at Bristol.”

Kahne on returning to Bristol Motor Speedway with Turner Motorsports

“I’m looking forward to going back to Bristol with Stewart Cooper [crew chief] and the Turner Motorsports guys. Over the last two years, every time we have unloaded at Bristol we have been fast right out of the gate. In each race, we’ve had a good shot to win but have really just had some terrible luck. I have such a long relationship with Great Clips and I’d love to get them back into victory lane. If we can just get luck on our side this weekend, I know we’ll have a really good chance to do that.”

No. 32 AccuDoc Solutions Silverado Team News and Notes

Welcome Back Blake…Turner Motorsports is happy to welcome back Saybrook, Ill.-native Blake Feese as driver of the No. 32 Chevy Silverado. Feese made his season debut at Nashville Superspeedway where he qualified 17th and brought home an 18th-place finish.

What’s Up AccuDoc… AccuDoc Solutions will serve as primary sponsor of the No. 32 Chevy Silverado this Wednesday evening at Bristol Motor Speedway. AccuDoc Solutions is based in Morrisville, N.C. and provides billing- statement printing and processing to hospitals and hospital-based physicians. The Turner Motorsports marketing partner also adorns the hood of Jason Leffler’s No. 30 machine in seven NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) events in 2011.

Dirt & Concrete at BMS… Feese has competed at the famed half mile both on dirt and asphalt. As an accomplished dirt racer, Feese traveled to Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) in 2001 when 14,000 truckloads of dirt covered the half mile for the World of Outlaws race. Feese went on to finish ninth in the event. Three years later he made his BMS NASCAR Nationwide Series debut driving the No. 5 Chevy where he qualified 15th and finished 28th.

Following a year running the sprit car circuit, he returned to the ARS in 2007, running a limited schedule and earning one top-five and four top-10 finishes in four starts. In 2009, he made his second NCWTS start at Nashville Superspeedway finishing in the 12th position. Earlier this season he returned to Nashville Superspeedway where he started 17th and brought home an 18th place finish.

NCWTS Veteran Ron Hornaday giving Blake Feese some pointers - Photo Credit: Jason Smith/Getty Images for NASCAR

This Week’s Silverado… The No. 32 AccuDoc Solutions Chevrolet Silverado team will unload chassis TMS-008 for Wednesday evening’s 200-lap event. This chassis last saw action at Iowa Speedway, where Steve Arpin started and finished in the 13th spot. TMS-008 also saw track action at Phoenix International Raceway earlier this season, where Brad Sweet started 21st and finished in the 11th spot.

Blake Feese on Bristol Motor Speedway:

Doug (George, crew chief) and the 32 guys did a great job last week at Michigan and I’m ready to get to Bristol and go to work with them. When I ran the World of Outlaw race at Bristol, I remember standing in the infield looking up at the grand stands and thinking that I was going to come back here and run a NASCAR race someday. I haven’t been on this new surface, so this is definitely a week I will lean on James and Ricky for help during our practice sessions. I’m confident in my guys and I’m sure we’ll bring home a strong finish for Turner Motorsports and AccuDoc Solutions.”

(August 12, 2011) – Turner Motorsports is pleased to announce the addition of road course specialist, Boris Said, to the driver’s seat of the No. 30 Impala for the upcoming NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Said, the event’s defending winner, will join Turner Motorsports teammate Jason Leffler in sporting the colors of the longest-running primary sponsor in the Nationwide Series, Great Clips Inc.

In four starts at the Montreal-based track, the Carlsbad, Calf.-native boasts two top-five finishes. After an exciting battle for the lead in the closing laps of the 2010 event, Said captured the victory to mark his first series win. In 22 Nationwide Series starts over nine years, he has brought home one win, six top-five and seven top-10 finishes.

“I am excited to go back to Montreal and defend my win with Turner Motorsports. They are a great organization that has proven they can win. They have some of the best equipment on the track and with Hendrick power under the hood I know we are going to have a fast Great Clips Chevy,” Said commented.

Said is another solid addition to Turner Motorsports’ stacked driver line-up. In 22 starts this season, the powerhouse Nationwide Series team has racked up three wins, 19 top-five and 45 top-10 finishes between its four teams. Team owner, Steve Turner, couldn’t be more proud of his team and is excited about welcoming Said to the seat of the No. 30 Chevrolet.

“Boris Said is an accomplished road course racer and proven winner. I couldn’t be happier about having the chance to put him in one of our cars,” said Turner. “Our organization has had a successful year thus far and we look forward to furthering that success with Boris.”

No. 38 Great Clips Chevrolet News and Notes

New look for the Great Clips machine… This weekend, the No. 38 Great Clips Chevrolet will debut a new look with a special “Online Check-in” paint scheme. The new paint scheme will be featured for the remainder of the 2011 season.

Making a Dash 4 Cash… This weekend marks the second of four Nationwide Series Dash 4 Cash (D4C) races in 2011. All three of Turner Motorsports NNS-regulars including Leffler, Reed Sorenson and Justin Allgaier, as well as fellow competitor, Michael Annett, are eligible to win the $100,000 bonus this weekend at Iowa Speedway.

First Annual Nationwide Series Farmathalon - On Friday morning, Leffler and the other three D4C competitors, will compete in a Farmathalon at Living History Farms in Urbandale, Iowa. The drivers will compete in three different activities including a horse drawn carriage race along with a cow milking and corn shucking contest. The driver with the lowest combined time will have a donation made to the charity of their choosing.

Statistically Speaking… In three starts at Iowa Speedway, Leffler has posted two third-place finishes. He was running top-five in this season’s first stop at the .875-mile track when an overheating issue forced him into the garage.

Leffler “in the loop” at Iowa… According to NASCAR’s Loop Data Statistics, Leffler is ranked in the top-10 in a number of categories at Iowa Speedway including Fastest Early in a Run (4th), Fastest Late in a Run (8th), Fastest Laps Run (8th), Fastest on Restarts (5th), (Green-Flag Speed (4th), Laps in the Top-15 (5th), and Speed in Traffic (6th).

This week’s Impala…. This weekend at Iowa Speedway, the No. 38 Great Clips team will unload chassis TMS-127. This is the team’s “go-to” chassis as it has more seen more track time than any other car in rotation. Leffler has driven TMS-127 at Kentucky Speedway (13th), Michigan Int’l Speedway (10th), Dover Int’l Speedway (11th), Charlotte Motor Speedway (21st) and Darlington Raceway (9th).

Turner Motorsports: In the hunt… In 21 Nationwide Series events in 2011, Turner Motorsports-prepared entries have notched three wins, 19 top-five and 44 top-10 finishes. All three of Turner Motorsports’ championship-contending drivers are inside the top-six in the driver point standings with Sorenson in second, Allgaier in fourth and Leffler in sixth.

Leffler on SIRIUS’ Morning Drive every Wednesday… Don’t forget to tune in to SIRIUS Radio’s “Morning Drive” with Mike Bagley and Pete Pistone every Wednesday at 10:30am to hear Leffler’s take on recent events in the Nationwide Series and what you can expect from the week’s upcoming race.

“You can’t really compare Iowa Speedway to anywhere else we go throughout the year. Turns one and two are pretty bumpy so that is something you have to work on throughout practice. It’s like a short track in length, but it’s also very fast, which makes it unique and challenging in itself. I’m excited to be able to participate in Nationwide’s Dash 4 Cash race. It’s like a race within the race and it just adds a different element of excitement to the whole event!”
