“Atlanta is a very, very fast track. You go so fast there. Even though it looks like Texas and it looks like Charlotte – for some reason it has faster characteristics. Bruton Smith has some of the best tracks on the schedule and Atlanta is one of them. There are multiple grooves to pick and choose from – if you’re tight you can find a groove that works better, if you are loose you can find a groove that will help out,” said Gaughan.
Gaughan is racing chassis GR-016, one that served him very well at Darlington until an incident very late in the race.
“We’re taking a truck I ran at Darlington earlier this year. It’s got some of the best side-force numbers of any of the trucks in the shop. We’re optimistic heading into Atlanta that it will be a good South Point Hotel & Casino Tundra for us there,” said Gaughan.
In addition to racing in Atlanta, Gaughan says he enjoys the area and what it has to offer. He and his wife have some fun planned, and may make their Atlanta trip several days longer given the off-week for the Truck Series next week.

Watch Gaughan in the No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Tundra at Atlanta Motor Speedway on SPEED. Qualifying airs Friday, September 2nd at 5:00 PM ET with racing action at 8:00 PM. Tune in early to catch the NCWTS Setup at 7:30 PM. Not in front of a TV? Tune your radio to your local MRN affiliate.
