DAYTONA BEACH, FL (February 14, 2011) – Max Gresham got his first taste of what it might be like to be a competitor at Daytona International Speedway when he visited the famed ‘World Center of Speed’ for the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) race this past weekend.

Gresham was the guest of Venturini Motorsports, the team for which he will make his ARCA superspeedway debut later this season. Gresham made five ARCA starts in 2010 winning the pole position at Salem (IN) Speedway in his series debut and then capturing the win in just his third career ARCA outing at Mansfield (OH) Speedway in the Tim Richmond Memorial 250.

“It was so cool to come through the old Turn 4 tunnel on the first day,” said Gresham of his Daytona experience. “It seems like you go way down in this hole and when you come up, all you can see is sky. You look across the infield and you can hardly see the other side of the track. Just walking around there, you could feel the history. You can really identify with things that have happened in the past. You look at one part of the track and remember something that happened there and then do the same in another part of the track. I’m really looking forward to making my own memories there someday.”

Gresham had a full weekend touring the Daytona facility and hanging out with his new Venturini Motorsports team. He also did a stint on NASCAR Sirius Radio Thursday with hosts Rick Benjamin and NASCAR great Buddy Baker before meeting several members of the media in the Daytona Infield Media Center.

“It was interesting to see how much pressure the crews were feeling for the first race of the season,” said Gresham. “It was great how the Venturini Motorsports ARCA crew was able to coordinate five teams in the ARCA event. They were really prepared and it showed when all five cars qualified in the top-11 positions. They are really go getters and they aren’t the least bit interested in second place. They were full of confidence and they should be because they have the kind of record to back it up. It’s a very cool feeling to know that I am going to be driving one of those cars later this season.”

Gresham completed his weekend visit with a trip to the Daytona NASCAR Sprint Cup garage area. He will return to the famed speedway this week for a round of NASCAR rookie driver orientation in preparation for his anticipated NASCAR Nationwide or Truck Series debuts later this year.

“That’s definitely where I want to be in the next five years,” said Gresham. “My goal is to be running on Sunday with the Cup guys. I’m doing all I can to make my way there. It was cool to see it all up close. I can’t wait to get there.”
