One such newcomer is 18-year-old Chad Hackenbracht. Actually, Hackenbracht isn’t brand new to the tour; the New Philadelphia, Ohio driver competed in several ARCA open tests in 2009. However, the upcoming Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona Int’l Speedway marks his first attempt to race in competition with the 58-year-old nationally touring stock car series.
It started with the open test at Daytona in December.
“We were a little under horsepower, but the car handled really well,” said Hackenbracht. “We’re going to have to get a better motor, but I’m confident we’ll be able to get the job done.”
Hackenbracht will be driving the no. 58 CGH Motorsports Chevrolet for his car owner and father Greg Hackenbracht.
“He did very well,” said the elder Hackenbracht, who heads Tastee Apple Inc. located in Newcomerstown, Ohio. “He did about 70 laps and looked pretty good.”
