(April 27, 2011) – Richard Childress received two awards for his charitable work in early April – one for his support of our troops from the Armed Forces Foundation and one for his family’s work with the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma.

While in Washington, D.C. for the seventh annual Armed Forces Foundation Congressional Gala, Mr. Childress took the opportunity to visit several injured soldiers at the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda, Md. Most of the soldiers suffered from traumatic blast injuries and recently received the Purple Heart. At the gala later that evening, Mr. Childress received the Bill and Beverly Young Humanitarian of the Year Award. He has visited U.S. military troops across the nation, as well as in other countries, including Iraq, Bosnia, and Spain.

“I am humbled to receive an award for humanitarianism from an organization that supports America’s troops,” said Mr. Childress, President and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “The men and women who fight and sacrifice for our country’s freedom are my heroes, and I will gladly continue to do what I can to support them. America is the greatest country in the world, and we must remember that freedom isn’t free.”

“A lot of people look at Richard as a NASCAR team owner, but he does so much more than that,” said Patricia Driscoll, President and Executive Director of the Armed Forces Foundation. “We feel honored that he takes the time out of his packed schedule to give back to the troops and support our foundation.”

A few days later, the Winston-Salem branch of the Exchange/SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) organization awarded Richard and his wife, Judy Childress, with the 2011 Founders Award for their exceptional commitment to the health and well being of children.

Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O’Neill presented the award to Mrs. Childress and cited the Childresses’ work helping children since launching the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in July 2008. The Institute is working to save the lives of children who experience serious injuries and help them recover quickly through research, education and prevention. April is Child Abuse Prevention month.

“SCAN is pleased to award the 2011 Founders Award to Richard and Judy Childress. This recognition is based on various criteria including contributions that allow for the improved welfare of children in the community, spirit of generosity evident in community activities, and enthusiasm for community efforts towards this end,” said O’Neill, a SCAN member. “The recipient of the Founders Award must also be a strong supporter of the numerous systems and entities that are needed to advance child abuse prevention, treatment and intervention. We feel that Richard and Judy Childress embody this message and are truly deserving of this recognition as they have worked to improve the outcomes for childhood trauma.”

“Judy and I are honored that SCAN, an organization that does so much in our community for children, would present us with an award,” said Mr. Childress, who co-founded the Childress Institute with his wife. “Exchange and SCAN are providing the prevention and family support initiatives that the Childress Institute values.”

April is Child Abuse Prevention month and Exchange/SCAN club works hard all year to bring awareness to their communities through family support, counseling, and education. SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) is the Forsyth County member of the Exchange Club of North Carolina. SCAN is celebrating its 30th year of providing child abuse prevention and treatment services to 12 counties in Northwest North Carolina. The National Exchange Club is celebrating its 100th anniversary of serving communities throughout the United States.

(March 23, 2011) – The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation’s Centennial Celebration and the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma will be the primary sponsors of Richard Childress Racing’s No. 33 Chevrolet Impala that Clint Bowyer will drive in the March 27 Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.

The Ronald Reagan Centennial is a historic, year-long celebration to commemorate the 100th birthday of the 40th President of the United States of America. A series of substantive and celebratory events, partnerships and initiatives sponsored by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation are planned throughout 2011.

Future announcements including a second phase of RCR’s involvement with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Mike Curb will be forthcoming.

“It’s a great honor for RCR, and for me personally, to be involved with the Ronald Reagan Centennial Celebration through our No. 33 Chevrolet NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team,” said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “President Reagan was one of my heroes so I’m thrilled to be able to help celebrate what would have been his 100th birthday. The No. 33 team program is the first in a series of exciting opportunities RCR is working on with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation. It’s also a great opportunity to showcase the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma and the great efforts being made to save children’s lives. We appreciate Mike Curb and FullCircle for putting this program together with us.”

“I have been proud to be a part of the Ronald Reagan President Foundation since its inception. We are particularly excited about the newly renovated Library that coincides with President Reagan’s 100th Centennial celebration.” I am also very proud of my long friendship with Richard Childress and excited to be celebrating this Centennial with Richard and Clint,” said Mike Curb Owner of Curb Records.

As President, Ronald Reagan started the 1984 Firecracker 400 at Daytona where he gave the command, “Gentlemen, start your engines!” from aboard Air Force One. Later that day, Air Force One landed at Daytona International Airport behind the speedway in full view of the fans. That day, Richard Petty captured his historic 200th victoryin a car owned by Mike Curb.

“President Reagan was the first sitting U.S. President to attend a NASCAR race,” said Stewart McLaurin, Executive Director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation Centennial Celebration. “As many Americans take a moment this year to remember the life, lessons and legacy of President Reagan in their own way, we are honored to have this special tribute.”

The NASCAR tribute video is available now at the Ronald Reagan Foundation’s YouTube channel located here: www.youtube.com/reaganfoundation.

Cheerios and BB&T, the No. 33 team’s primary sponsors for the majority of the season, will also have prominent identification on the car.

Clint Bowyer’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Performance History at Auto Club Speedway

NOTES:

· This Weekend’s Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express Chevrolet Impala SS at Auto Club Speedway … Clint Bowyer will pilot Chassis No. 080 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable in this Saturday’s Copart 300. Built new in 2009, this is the same Impala SS Austin Dillon practiced and qualified last month at Michigan International Speedway. The car was damaged during the second lap of qualifying, forcing the No. 2 team to a back-up car for the race. Since then, this Chevrolet was repaired, painted with the Holiday Inn Racing colors and driven by Jeff Burton at Atlanta Motor Speedway last month where he posted a fifth-place finish.

Since joining RCR in 2004, the Emporia, Kan., native has earned one NNS championship, along with 11 career NASCAR wins; two in the Sprint Cup Series, eight in the NNS and one in the Camping World Truck Series. In fact, Bowyer is one of only 20 drivers to have wins each in of NASCAR’s top-three series. In his previous 299 NASCAR starts, Bowyer has earned 10 poles, 82 top-five and 160 top-10 finishes.

· Statistically Speaking …

o Start and Finish … Bowyer has earned two, of seven, career NNS pole awards at Auto Club Speedway, which ties him with Carl Edwards for the most career NNS poles at the two-mile oval.
This race marks your 300th career NASCAR start. What are some of your biggest highlights from the first 299 starts?

“The two biggest things that stick out in my mind are winning the Nationwide Series championship last season and my first Sprint Cup Series win at New Hampshire in 2007. Taking the title last year was awesome and it was a lot of fun. We only had one win, but were consistently finishing in the top five and top 10 each week. My first Cup win was the first race of the Chase. It was the first time I was in the Chase and being able to say you beat a veteran like Jeff Gordon, at Loudon, is something special. The victory took a lot of pressure off the team and gave us a push to contend for the title. It’s amazing to think that just a few years ago I was dirt racing, back in Kansas, to be where I’m at today. Richard Childress believed in me and I owe most of my success to him and everyone back at RCR.”

Auto Club Speedway has been a good track for you in the Nationwide Series. What are your goals heading into this weekend?

“Doug Randolph (crew chief) and all the No. 29 guys back at the shop have produced fast Chevrolets lately. We ran really well at Dover and the speeds we showed in first practice at Kansas were competitive. Even in that back up car, we were pretty solid last weekend. As we head to Fontana, we look to carry over our momentum of the last two races and, hopefully, earn a top-five finish, if not better.”

DOUG RANDOLPH QUOTES:

What are your goals as you head to Fontana this weekend?

“We’re bringing the same No. 29 Chevrolet Jeff (Burton) drove at Atlanta a few weeks ago. We were happy with the car’s performance and have made some minor modifications to make it even better. Track position is going to be key at Fontana because the field widens out quickly. If we can qualify up front and have strong pit stops, we should be good shape for a top-five finish.”

Clint Bowyer’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Performance History at Kansas Speedway

NOTES:

· This Weekend’s Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express Chevrolet Impala SS at Kansas Speedway … Clint Bowyer will pilot Chassis No. 066 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable in this weekend’s Kansas Lottery 300. This is same No. 29 Chevrolet Bowyer drove to Victory Lane last weekend at Dover International Speedway. Stephen Leicht has also raced this Impala SS five times this season, finishing sixth and 11th in both Nashville Superspeedway events, eighth at The Milwaukee Mile, sixth at Gateway International Raceway and 10th at Iowa Speedway. Last season, Bowyer drove it to a ninth-place finish at Kentucky Speedway and a seventh-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway, while Stephen Leicht drove it to an 18th-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway in October.

· Heading Home … Bowyer, a native of Emporia, Kan., grew up just over 100 miles southwest of Kansas Speedway. He graduated from Emporia High School and attended Flint Hills Technical College, also located in Emporia.

· Back Where it Started … Bowyer began his career racing motorcycles in his native Kansas when he was five-years-old. He made the transition to four wheels in 1996, racing Street Stocks at Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, Kan. Over the next seven seasons, he went on to win dirt modified championships at Thunderhill Speedway (2000), Lakeside Speedway (2001 & 2002) and Heartland Park Topeka (2001). Bowyer also won an asphalt late model championship at the famed I-70 Speedway in Odessa, Mo., and the 2002 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Midwest Championship. Since then, the 30-year-old driver has won the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series championship, eight NNS victories and two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wins. In 153 NNS races, he has notched eight poles, 60 top fives and 100 top 10s.

· Statistically Speaking …

o Bowyer After a Win … In events immediately following his previous NNS victories, the reigning NNS champion boasts a sixth-place average finish with four top-five and six top-10 finishes. His only non top-10 finish was a 13th in 2007 at Talladega Superspeedway following his Phoenix International Raceway win.

o Start and Finish … Following a 32nd-place finish in his Kansas NNS debut in 2004, Bowyer has posted six consecutive top-16 finishes at the 1.5-mile oval. In fact, he has earned three top-five finishes in his last three starts there.

o Kansas Loop ‘D Loop … According to NASCAR’s loop data statistics, Bowyer leads all drivers in laps ran inside the top 15 with 774 of 800 laps contested (96.8 percent). He also has the most quality passes of any driver with 173 over the last four NNS races at Kansas. The quality pass formula is calculated by the number of passes a driver has completed while running inside the top 15 under green-flag conditions.

o Bowyer’s 2009 NNS Recap … In nine NNS starts this season, the defending series champion has earned two wins, one pole and five top-three finishes. He boasts a 6.8 average start, an 8.2 average finish and has completed 1,743 of the 1,746 laps contested (99.8 percent).

o RCR at Kansas … In 20 NNS starts at Kansas, RCR-prepared Chevrolets have earned one win (Kevin Harvick – 2006), seven top-five and nine top-10 finishes. The Welcome, N.C.,-based organization has only four finishes outside the top 16 at the 1.5-mile oval and has completed 3,660 of the 4,012 laps contested (91.2 percent).

At the beginning of the season, why did you pick the Nationwide Series race at Kansas?

“It’s my home track and I wanted to race everything there is to race there. We’ve been close to winning the Nationwide race at Kansas before and it’s been one of my better tracks. We always run up front, in the top three at least, about every time we’ve run there. Kansas is the place where I want to put on a good show and try to win in front of my home town crowd.”

Over the last three Nationwide Series races at Kansas, you finished fifth, fourth and second. Can this be the weekend you win there?

“I hope so. We’ve had good showing there and it’s a good track for me. We’re bringing the same car we won Dover with and that definitely gives us a shot of confidence. Our No. 29 Chevy was strong last weekend and, hopefully, we can repeat and win this weekend.”

DOUG RANDOLPH QUOTES:

You’re bringing back the winning chassis from last weekend to Kansas. Do you think it will perform the same as it did in Dover

“Chassis No. 066 has been pretty good to us this year. Stephen (Leicht) drove it a few times this season and it performed well. We’ve done testing with this No. 29 Chevy and it has become our go-to car. The adjustments and gains we’ve made on it have really paid off, coming full circle last weekend. If we can show the consistent lap times like we did last weekend at Dover, we’ll be in good shape for another solid finish.”

Clint’s heading to a track he calls him home track. How big would it be to get him a win there?

“I know how much that track means to him and it would be huge to pull out a win there. He’s been strong at Kansas in his last three starts and I think we’re giving him a Chevy that is capable of winning this weekend.”

Clint Bowyer’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Performance History at Dover International Speedway

NOTES:

· This Weekend’s Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express Chevrolet Impala SS at Dover International Speedway … Clint Bowyer will pilot Chassis No. 066 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable in this weekend’s Dover 200. Stephen Leicht has raced this No. 29 Impala SS five times this season, finishing sixth and 11th in both Nashville Superspeedway events, eighth at The Milwaukee Mile, sixth at Gateway International Raceway and 10th at Iowa Speedway. Bowyer drove this former No. 2 Chevrolet twice last season, finishing ninth at Kentucky Speedway and seventh at Chicagoland Speedway. Leicht also drove this RCR-prepared Chevy, as a No. 21 entry, to an 18th-place finish last October at Texas Motor Speedway.

· Former Winner … Bowyer scored his third career NNS victory on September 23, 2006 at Dover. Bowyer passed Matt Kenseth with 21 laps remaining and held on for the win following a green-white-checkered flag finish.

· Start and Finish … Following his 19th-place finish in his DIS debut in June 2005, Bowyer has posted six consecutive top-10 finishes at the ‘Monster Mile’. The September 2006 Dover race winner has completed all 1,409 laps contested and boasts a 6.9 average finish in those starts.

· Loop ‘D Loop … According to NASCAR’s loop data statistics, the Emporia, Kan., native ran inside the top 15 for 1,139 of the 1,409 laps contested (80.8 percent) and boasts a 9.06 average running position in his last seven NNS races at Dover.

· Bowyer’s 2009 NNS Recap … In eight NNS starts this season, the defending series champion has earned one win, one pole and four top-three finishes. He boasts a 5.6 average start, a 9.1 average finish and has completed 1,543 of the 1,546 laps contested (99.8 percent).

· Bowyer Back-to-Back … This weekend’s race at Dover marks the second time Bowyer will race the No. 29 Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express Chevrolet in back-to-back races this season. Earlier this year, the 30-year old driver followed up a 17th-place effort at New Hampshire Motor Speedway by winning at Daytona International Speedway the following weekend.

· Bowyer Close to 100 … In 152 career NNS races, the seven-time NNS race winner has earned 99 top-10 finishes. Additionally, Bowyer has earned seven poles and 59 top-five finishes in those starts.

· RCR at Dover … In 39 NNS starts at Dover, RCR has earned two wins (Jeff Burton and Bowyer swept both races in 2006), four poles, 12 top-five and 22 top-10 finishes. The Welcome, N.C.,-based organization has only one DNF (Did Not Finish) at the ‘Monster Mile’ and have completed 7,498 of the 7,818 laps contested (95.9 percent).

· Holiday Inn Racing’s First Win … Burton drove the No. 29 Holiday Inn Chevrolet to Dover’s Victory Lane on June 3, 2006. It marked Holiday Inn’s first career NNS victory in only their third start as primary sponsor of RCR’s No. 29 Chevrolet. Since then, RCR and Holiday Inn have earned seven additional wins together in NASCAR’s junior circuit.

· Double Down in Delaware … In addition to his NNS driver duties, Bowyer will pilot the No. 33 BB&T Chevrolet in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Dover. Live coverage of the AAA 400 will begin Sunday, September 27 beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time and will be telecast on ABC. The race will also be broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius XM Satellite Radio.

· Rearview Mirror … Bowyer drove RCR’s green, white and blue No. 29 Chevrolet to an 11th-place finish at Richmond International Raceway two weeks ago. The Richard Childress-owned team maintained the sixth spot in the NNS owners’ point standings and now sits 23 markers behind Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 20 entry in fifth.

· Crew Member’s Hometown Track … Justin Stambaugh was born in Taneytown, Md., located approximately two-and-a-half hours northwest of Dover, Del. Stambaugh is Holiday Inn’s front-tire carrier and also works as a mechanic in RCR’s Nationwide Series race shop.

In seven Nationwide Series starts at Dover, you have one win and six top-10 finishes. What can you attribute that success to?

“Dover has been one of my better tracks. It’s a combination of a mile-and-a-half and a short track. It has banking like a Bristol, but the straightaways are really fast. Every time we have gone there, we’ve been lucky enough to avoid accidents that come with tight racing and we’ve had strong handling Chevrolets. If we can get the No. 29 to roll up off the turns and carry speed to the exit of the corners, we’ll be in good shape.”

How would you rate the No. 29 team’s season thus far?

“RCR has always been the team that runs out front and battles for championships. We’ve definitely improved our efforts over the last few months and have had consistent top-15 finishes. Everyone back at the shop has been working hard to get us back into championship form and, hopefully, back to Victory Lane a few more times before the season is over.”

DOUG RANDOLPH (CREW CHIEF) QUOTE:

With eight races remaining this season, what are your goals for the No. 29 team?

“We’ve been getting better week in and week out. We’ve had a few good points’ weekends as of late, which have put us in contention to finish in the top four in points before the season ends. That’s going to be our goal for the remainder of the year. If we can improve on where we finished the weekend before, contend for top fives and wins, we should be able to put ourselves in position to reach that goal.”

Austin Dillon

No. 3 RCR 40th Anniversary Chevrolet Silverado

Event Preview Fact Sheet

Event: Heluva Good! 200 – September 19, 2009

Venue: New Hampshire Motor Speedway – Loudon, N.H.

· This Week’s RCR 40th Anniversary Chevrolet Silverado at New Hampshire Motor Speedway … Austin Dillon will pilot Chassis No. 021 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Camping World Truck Series stable in this weekend’s Heluva Good! 200. This Chevrolet Silverado was purchased from Kevin Harvick Inc. earlier this season, and Dillon finished 12th with it in his NCWTS debut two weeks ago at Iowa Speedway. Last year, this former No. 2 KHI entry ran in five NCTWS races, earning one pole, two top-10 and four top-20 finishes. This chassis currently holds the Martinsville Speedway track qualifying record, set by Jack Sprague with a fast lap of 19.65 seconds last March.

· Truck Series Debut Recap … Dillon qualified ninth in his NCWTS debut at Iowa Speedway on September 5. On lap 74, Dillon spun out, but recovered to finish 12th.

o History of the No. 3 Truck … The 19-year-old Dillon is the third driver to compete in RCR’s No. 3 entry, joining Mike Skinner, who drove the GM Goodwrench-sponsored entry from1995 to 1996, and Jay Sauter, who took the reigns in 1997 and drove the No. 3 truck until Childress ended his involvement in the series in 1999 to pursue racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

o Family Values … Dillon is a third-generation NASCAR driver. His grandfather, Richard Childress, made 285 Sprint Cup Series starts between 1969 and 1981, earning six top-five and 76 top-10 finishes. Austin’s father, Mike Dillon, drove from 1995 to 2001 in each of NASCAR’s top-three series, including three starts in the NCWTS from 1997 to 1998.

· Dillon Familiar with the No. 3 … In addition to his NCWTS start in the No. 3 at Iowa Speedway on Labor Day Weekend, Dillon has raced the No. 3 Chevrolet in 15 NASCAR Camping World Series East starts, earning one win, seven top-five and 12 top-10 finishes. He also has driven Team Dillon Racing’s No. 3 Asphalt and Dirt Late Models since 2005.

· Repeat Performance … This weekend’s race marks the third time Dillon will compete at the 1.058-mile NHMS. He raced in both NCWSE events last year, scoring the pole for the June Heluva Good! 125 on his way to a fourth-place finish. In September 2008, Dillon started 15th and finished fifth in the Heluva Good! Fall 125, which helped him capture the title of NCWSE Rookie of the Year.

· Oh, Brother … Dillon’s younger brother, Ty, is also competing at NHMS this weekend. On Friday, the 17 year-old will make his third career start in the NASCAR Camping World Series East in the Heluva Good! Fall 125, driving the No. 3 Mom n’ Pops Country Ham Chevrolet in the Heluva Good! Fall 125.

· Multitasking … While pursuing his racing career, Dillon is not ignoring his academic growth. He is currently enrolled as a freshman at High Point University, where he is studying at the Nido R. Quebin School of Communications. Earlier this season, the University sponsored Dillon in a NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Iowa Speedway.

· RCR’s 130-plus Truck Series Starts … This weekend marks the 131st start by an RCR entry in a NCWTS event. In all, RCR-prepared trucks have earned 20 wins, including the inaugural race with Skinner at Phoenix International Raceway in 1995. Along with Skinner, drivers including Mike Dillon, Bill Cooper, Dave Marcis, Jay Sauter and Jim Sauter have recorded 59 top-five and 85 top-10 finishes for the organization. Skinner captured the inaugural NCWTS championship title for RCR in 1995.

AUSTIN DILLON Quotes:

How do you feel about making another start in the NCWTS?

“I’m really excited about New Hampshire. I’ve been there in a (NASCAR) Camping World Series East car before, so I have some experience. The truck series usually puts on a wild race, so it should be a lot of fun. I think we’ll have a good truck. It’ll be fun to drive the (No.) 3 truck again and to see what the fans in New Hampshire think about it. We were able to run it in the East series there, and it’s a lot of fun and an honor to drive that number. I think we should be pretty decent.”

What’s the biggest difference between the NASCAR Nationwide Series cars and the NCWTS trucks?

“The biggest difference between the two is definitely the splitter. You have to work around the splitter the entire time in practice, just making sure nothing’s hitting or dragging. Racing-wise, the difference is, once you get around cars, the aero is twice as important because you’ve got such a big side board with the right side door. When you get close to people and the air gets taken off the truck, it goes really fast, so you’ve got to be careful when you’re racing in tight quarters. You can take the air off other people and it’ll turn you around.”

Do you think the trucks make for wilder racing than the Nationwide Series cars?

“You’re still fighting for every position each lap in both series, and you’re running as hard as you can. At New Hampshire, like I said with the air and the trucks, when they get really close and someone tries to pass there, you get really loose when you’re on the inside of someone. That’s the biggest thing. Someone will drive off into the corner a little too hot and end up wrecking entering the corner.

NASCAR Camping World Series East Event Preview

Event: Heluva Good! Fall 125 – September 18, 2009

Venue: New Hampshire Motor Speedway – Loudon, N.H.

· This weekend’s Mom n’ Pops Country Ham Impala SS at New Hampshire Motor Speedway … Ty Dillon will pilot Chassis No. 163 from the Richard Childress Racing stable in this weekend’s Heluva Good! Fall 125. This car is a former No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chevrolet modified to fit NASCAR Camping World Series East specifications. In its only NSCS appearance, Kevin Harvick drove it to a 25th-place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway in March, 2007. Ty’s older brother, Austin, qualified on the pole and finished fourth in this car in the June NCWSE event at NHMS last year.

· Third Time’s a Charm … Dillon, a native of Lewisville, N.C., will be making his third career NCWSE start this weekend. In his two previous starts, Dillon has earned a 10th-place average start and respectable 7.5 finishing average.

· Rear View Mirror … In his most recent NCWSE start, Dillon started eighth and finished seventh at Adirondack International Speedway in August. His NCWSE debut came at South Boston (Va.) Raceway in May, where he started 12th and finished eighth.

· Ty’s World … Besides being a junior at Forsyth Country Day school in Lewisville, N.C., Dillon has kept busy racing Late Models on both dirt and asphalt tracks.

· All in the Family … In addition to Dillon competing in the NCWSE event, his older brother, Austin, is entered in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at NHMS. This will mark the elder Dillon’s second start in that series, on the heels of his NCWTS debut Labor Day Weekend at Iowa Speedway, where he finished 12th.

· Helping Hand … Ty Dillon’s crew chief this year is Lance Deiters, who served in the same role with Austin Dillon in the NCWSE last year. The duo won the first NCWSE race of the year en route to claiming NCWSE Rookie of the Year honors.

· RCR’s Collective East & West Series Stats… In nine NCWS East and West starts this season, RCR development drivers Austin Dillon, Ty Dillon and Ryan Gifford have collectively earned three top-five and seven top-10 finishes. In those starts, the trio boasts a 10th-place average start and a 7.8 average finishing, while completing 1,370 of 1,380 laps contested (99.9 percent).

· Race Broadcast Information … SPEED’s coverage of the Heluva Good! Fall 125 will air on Thursday, September 24 at 3 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

· Mark Your Calendars … In honor of its 40th anniversary, RCR will host a Fan Day at the Welcome, N.C. complex on Thursday, October 22 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Activities include driver and pit crew autograph sessions, self-guided tours of RCR’s Sprint Cup and Nationwide shops as well as ECR’s engine shop, radio remotes, musical entertainment, pit crew competition, viewing of the DALE movie, question-and-answer session with team owner Richard Childress and much more.
TY DILLON Quotes:

This is your third start in the NASCAR Camping World Series East. Other than those races, what kind of racing have you been doing to prepare yourself, and what’s the biggest difference between those other types of racing and the NCWSE events?

“We’ve been running a little bit of dirt (track) stuff this year, but we’ve been running a lot of Late Model races on asphalt, too. We’ve been doing that almost every week. The main difference is probably how heavy the (NASCAR) Camping World East Series car is compared to all the other stuff I’ve been driving. That’s the difficult part. The weight difference and saving your tires so you can hang with these guys.”

What’s the hardest part about transitioning from some of the shorter tracks you’ve raced on to tracks over a mile in length, like NHMS?

“The hardest part, probably, is learning to use your brakes correctly compared to the speeds.”

You’re a young racer. Do you feel like you’ve learned a lot this year?

“I think I definitely have learned a lot. I wish we could have a couple more wins, but we’re getting there. We’re doing a lot of different things and we’ll catch up to them and get more wins.”

Every driver wants to win every race they’re in. Short of winning, what would you consider to be a successful weekend at NHMS?

“We want to be smart and make all the laps, stay out of trouble and finish the race. We’d really like a top-five finish, and a win would be awesome.”

CREW CHIEF LANCE DIETERS Quotes:

What are your goals for this weekend?

“My goals for this weekend are to just go up there, make a solid qualifying lap and complete the whole race. If we can finish in the top 10, that would be great. New Hampshire is a tough race track and it will be the first speedway-type race for Ty. NASCAR took testing out of this series which, to me, is a mistake, since this is a rookie series.

“With Austin (Dillon) last year, we had the chance to go up there and test, and that makes all the difference in the world. We’re going up there with Ty without testing and without him ever being on a track that big, and we only get an hour-and-a-half of practice. So, if we qualify well, run the whole race and can get a top 10, I’ll be happy.”

Talk about Ty as a driver.

“Ty is just really new and he just gets better every week. I see improvement every time we go race. He’s a quick learner and he understands what he needs to do. He’s good with the gas and brake part of it. I think he learned that in dirt cars. He knows how to take care of his right rear tire on the exit of the corners. If he gets comfortable at Loudon, he should be able to run well. It’s kind of his style of driving. There, you’ve got to be smooth and hit your marks and Ty’s good at that. Once he learns where his marks are, he’s good at being able to hit them repeatedly.”

Clint Bowyer’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Performance History at Richmond International Raceway

NOTES:

· This Weekend’s Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express Chevrolet Impala SS at Richmond International Raceway … Clint Bowyer will pilot Chassis No. 068 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable in this Friday’s Virginia 529 College Savings 250. Bowyer has driven this No. 29 Chevy three times in 2009, finishing third at Bristol Motor Speedway in March, 14th at Dover International Speedway in May and seventh at Bristol three weeks ago. Jeff Burton also drove this Impala SS to a 10th-place finish at Lowe’s Motor Speedway this past May. In 2008, this chassis finished 12th at LMS in May and fourth at Dover in September.

· Statistically Speaking …

o Last Time Around … Bowyer dominated last fall’s NNS race at Richmond, leading 195 of the 250 laps contested. He finished third after being passed by eventual race winner Carl Edwards and former RCR teammate Scott Wimmer with 27 laps remaining in the race.

o Start and Finish … Bowyer, a seven-time NNS winner, has completed 96.7 percent of the laps (1,948 of 2,011) contested in his eight NNS races at Richmond. He has not started outside the top 11 and has earned a 13.8 average finish at the .75-mile oval.

o Loop ‘D Loop … According to NASCAR’s loop data statistics, Bowyer has recorded 238 of the fastest laps run over the last nine NNS races at Richmond, the most by a driver. He ran inside the top 15 for 1,664 of the 2,261 laps contested (82.7 percent) and has a 10.5 average running position. The 30-year old driver’s rating of 107.9 is sixth best among all drivers at the “Action Track.” The Driver Rating is a formula that combines the following categories: wins, top-15 finishes, average running position while on the lead lap, average speed under green, fastest lap, most laps led and lead-lap finishes. The maximum points a driver can earn in each race is 150 points. The Driver Rating number is used pre-race as a prediction tool and post-race as a performance evaluator.

o Bowyer’s 2009 NNS Recap … In seven NNS starts this season, the defending series champion has earned one win, one pole and four top-three finishes. He boasts a 5.9 average start, a 9.2 average finish and has completed 99.8 percent (1,289 of 1,292) of the laps contested.

o RCR at Richmond… In 42 NNS starts at RIR, RCR-prepared Chevrolets have earned 15 top-five and 23 top-10 finishes. They have five wins among two drivers, including four with Kevin Harvick (May 2003, September 2005, May 2008 and September 2008) and one with Bowyer (May 2007). The Welcome, N.C.,-based organization is one lap shy of 1,000 laps led at Richmond and boasts a 13.5 finishing average.

· Prelude to the Dream … The Emporia, Kan, native will participate in Wednesday night’s Prelude to the Dream at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio). Bowyer will pilot a Cheerios-sponsored dirt late model out of his Clint Bowyer Racing stable and will also field a second car for defending Sprint Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson. It marks the second year that Clint Bowyer Racing has prepared Johnson’s entry for the annual showdown. Live coverage of the race will begin Wednesday, September 9 at 7 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on HBO Pay-Per-View.

· Double-Down in Virginia … In addition to his NNS driver duties, Bowyer will pilot the No. 33 Cheerios/Hamburger Helper Chevrolet in Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the D-shaped Virginia oval, where he won in May 2008. Live coverage of the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 will begin Saturday, September 12 beginning at 7 p.m. EDT on ABC. The race will also be broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius XM Satellite Radio.

· Rearview Mirror … Jeff Burton drove RCR’s green, white and blue No. 29 Chevrolet to a fifth-place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway last Saturday. The Richard Childress-owned team moved up one spot, to sixth, in the NNS owners’ point standings and now sit 31 markers behind Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 20 entry in fifth.

· Virginian Crew Members … Three members of the No. 29 Holiday Inn Racing team hail from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Burton was born and raised in South Boston, shock specialist P.J. Bryant is from Dale City and back-up tire changer Tommy Wallace calls Richmond his hometown.

· Race Broadcast Information … The Virginia 529 College Savings 250 will be televised live on Friday, September 11 beginning at 7 p.m. EDT on ESPN2. The race can also be heard on MRN and Sirius XM Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the 27th event of the 2009 NNS season will air live the same day beginning at 4 p.m. EDT on SPEED. MRN and Sirius XM Satellite Radio will also broadcast live updates of time trials.

CLINT BOWYER QUOTES:

Do you like night races and the feel they have?

“I love it. That’s what most of us grew up doing. It adds an extra element of atmosphere. Electricity is in the air and the energy is high. Everybody is looking to have a good time. When the lights come on, everyone puts their gloves on and gets ready to go to battle.”

Is Richmond a place, where, chances are, you’re not going to come out of there without a few scratches but, at the same time, you’re working hard not to beat and bang too much?

“Richmond is one of those tracks where anything can happen. Usually, the guy who wins has a clean car and all four fenders are on it. Aerodynamics are crucial, which surprises people when you talk about Richmond, but I know firsthand how important they are there. I ripped my right-front fender off during the Nationwide race a couple years ago that everyone thought we had wrapped up. It wasn’t so much the case after that.”

DOUG RANDOLPH (CREW CHIEF) QUOTE:

The Holiday Inn team has 12 straight top-12 finishes. What’s your plan to continue that streak this weekend?

“We’ve tried some new things lately at the bigger tracks and found success with those changes. Heading back to Richmond, we’re falling back on our usual short-track program. Short-track racing fits Clint’s driving style and he’s comfortable with the setups we have in place already. Our entire Nationwide Series efforts have improved over the last few weeks and (Jeff) Burton’s run last weekend showed that we’re gaining momentum. We should be a top-five car and, hopefully, will have our car dialed in at the end to contend for the win.”

Austin Dillon

No. 3 RCR 40th Anniversary Chevrolet Silverado

Event Preview Fact Sheet

Event: Lucas Oil 200 – September 5, 2009

Venue: Iowa Speedway – Newton, Iowa

· This Week’s RCR 40th Anniversary Chevrolet Impala SS at Iowa Speedway … Austin Dillon will pilot Chassis No. 021 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Camping World Truck Series stable in this weekend’s Lucas Oil 200. This Chevrolet Silverado was purchased from Kevin Harvick Inc. earlier this season.

· Truck Series Debut … Dillon will attempt to qualify for his first-career NCWTS start. He’ll be piloting the No. 3 RCR 40th Anniversary Chevrolet at Iowa Speedway, commemorating the Welcome, N.C., -based organization’s 40th year of NASCAR racing.

· ‘3’ Elements

o History of the No. 3 Truck … The 19-year-old driver will become the third driver to compete in RCR’s No. 3 entry, joining Mike Skinner, who drove the GM Goodwrench-sponsored entry from1995 to 1996, and Jay Sauter, who took the reigns in 1997 and drove the No. 3 truck until Childress ended his involvement in the series in 1999 to pursue racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

o Family Values … Austin Dillon is a third-generation NASCAR driver. His grandfather, Richard Childress, made 285 Sprint Cup Series starts between 1969 and 1981, earning six top-five and 76 top-10 finishes. Austin’s father, Mike Dillon, drove from 1995 to 2001 in each of NASCAR’s top-three series, including three starts in the NCWTS from 1997 to 1998.

o Last Time Around … Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was the last person to drive the No. 3 in one of NASCAR’s top-three divisions, running two Nationwide Series races for RCR in 2002. That year, Earnhardt won the NNS season opener at Daytona International Speedway in February and finished 36th, after being involved in a mid-race accident, in May at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

· Dillon Familiar with the No. 3 … Over the past two seasons, Dillon has raced the No. 3 Chevrolet in 15 NASCAR Camping World Series East starts, earning one win, seven top-five and 12 top-10 finishes. Additionally, Dillon has driven Team Dillon Racing’s No. 3 Asphalt and Dirt Late Models since 2005.

· All Over It in Iowa … The 2008 NCWSE Rookie of the Year has competed at Iowa on four different occasions. In 2008, Dillon captured the pole position and finished sixth in the Camping World Series East/West Challenge. This past May, he finished 19th in the NCWS East/West Challenge after starting seventh. In July, Dillon drove RCR’s No. 31 ARCA RE/MAX Series entry to a runner-up finish after starting from the rear of the field. Most recently, he finished 28th after being involved in a mid-race accident during the NNS race in August. All told, the 19-year-old driver has earned one pole, one-top five and two top-10 finishes at the seven-eighths-mile oval.

· RCR’s 130th Career Truck Series Start … In 129 previous NCWTS starts, RCR-prepared trucks have earned 20 wins, including the inaugural race with Skinner at Phoenix International Raceway in 1995. Along with Skinner, drivers including Mike Dillon, Bill Cooper, Dave Marcis, Jay Sauter and Jim Sauter have recorded 59 top-five and 85 top-10 finishes for the inaugural 1995 NCWTS championship organization.

· Local Bass Pro Shops on Board … The Altoona, Iowa Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, located approximately 26 miles west of Iowa Speedway, will be an associate sponsor on RCR’s No. 3 Silverado. The Bass Pro Shops decal will be located on both rear-quarter panels this weekend. The local outdoor sporting goods store celebrated its grand opening last Wednesday.

· Meet the Drivers … Dillon will be available for autographs on Saturday, September 5 underneath Iowa Speedway’s main grandstands from 4 to 5 p.m. local time. Autographs will take place on a first come, first serve basis due to time constraints.

· Meet the Press … Dillon will answer questions from the gathered media on Saturday, September 5 inside Iowa Speedway’s infield media center. The time has yet to be determined, but check inside the media center for details over the course of the weekend.

· Race Broadcast Information … The Lucas Oil 200 will be televised live on Saturday, September 5 on SPEED beginning at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The race will also be broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius XM Satellite Radio. Qualifying will begin the same day at 6:45 p.m. EDT.

General admission to RCR’s Fan Day is just $5, which will benefit the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma.

AUSTIN DILLON Quotes:

What is it like for you to race the No. 3 in this weekend’s Truck Series race?

“This will be a special weekend for my family. Being able to drive the No. 3 is really amazing. This number carries a lot of history with it and I know how much it means to my grandfather and all the NASCAR fans. I’m hoping to go out there and perform well.”

You’re making your Truck Series debut at Iowa, but it’s not your first time there. What are your goals for the weekend?

“I couldn’t have picked a better race track to make my truck debut than Iowa. I feel confident heading back and enjoy racing there. The fans pack that place and the atmosphere there is electric. We think we can be competitive once I get a feel for how the truck handles during practice. Our goals are to learn as much as we can during the race, earn a solid finish and, more importantly, have fun.”

DAN DEERINGHOFF (crew chief) Quote:

What are you plans heading into this weekend at Iowa?

“There is a lot of practice time on Friday, which will give Austin the chance to learn how the truck handles at Iowa. We tested at Rockingham last week in order to get Austin seat time in the truck before we unloaded it for race weekend. The test went well and he’s starting to get a feel for how to drive it. There are multiple practice sessions on Friday, which will give Austin more time to become comfortable with the truck. Our goal for the race is to be consistent on the speed charts and have a solid top-20 finish.”

Event Preview Fact Sheet

Event: Degree V12 300 – September 5, 2009

Venue: Atlanta Motor Speedway – Hampton, Ga.

NOTES:

· This Week’s Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express Chevrolet Impala SS at Atlanta Motor Speedway … Jeff Burton will pilot Chassis No. 080 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable in this Saturday’s Degree V12 300. Built new in 2009, this is the same Impala SS Austin Dillon practiced and qualified last month at Michigan International Speedway. The car was damaged during the second lap of qualifying, forcing the No. 2 team to go to a back-up car for the race. Since then, this Chevrolet has been repaired and painted with Holiday Inn Racing’s colors.

Statistically Speaking …

o Burton’s RCR Success at Atlanta … In the last three NNS races at the 1.54-mile oval, Burton has driven a RCR-prepared Chevrolet to back-to-back wins in 2006 and 2007 and finished third in last season’s event. He led 117 laps of competition and boasts an average finish of 1.7 in those events.

o Wins … The 27-time NNS winner is one of three drivers with more than one NNS win at the Hampton, Ga. speedway. Burton is tied for second all-time at AMS with Matt Kenseth with two career NNS victories each. They trail Mark Martin, who has visited Atlanta’s Victory Lane three times in NNS competition.

o Consistently Running … In his last three NNS starts at Atlanta, Burton ran inside the top 15 for 97.45 percent (573 of 588) of the laps contested. His average running position of 3.8 is best among all drivers over the previous four races there.

o Driver Rating … Based on NASCAR’s loop data statistics over the last four NNS races at AMS, Burton’s driver rating of 129.5 is the best of any other driver. The Driver Rating is a formula that combines the following categories: wins, top-15 finishes, average running position while on the lead lap, average speed under green, fastest lap, most laps led and lead-lap finishes. The maximum points a driver can earn in each race is 150 points. The Driver Rating number is used pre-race as a prediction tool and post-race as a performance evaluator.

o RCR at Atlanta … In 20 NNS races at Atlanta, RCR has two wins (Burton– 2006, 2007), five top-five and nine top-10 finishes. RCR-prepared Chevrolets have earned a 13.5 average finish and completed 97 percent of the laps (4,097 of the 4,223) contested.

· Rearview Mirror … Last weekend, Stephen Leicht finished eighth in the caution-plagued NAPA Auto Parts 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Leicht picked up three spots in the green-white-checkered finish to score the No. 29 team’s 10th consecutive top-15 finish.

· Points Check … The Richard Childress-owned team gained valuable championship points last weekend and maintain seventh in the NNS owners’ point standings. With 10 races remaining this season, the No. 29 team sits 28 markers outside of sixth place, 36 points behind fifth position, and 71 markers outside of fourth.

· Double Duty at AMS … In addition to his NNS duties, Burton will pilot the No. 31 CAT Financial Chevrolet Impala SS in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta. ESPN’s live coverage of the Pep Boys Auto 500 will begin at 7 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Sunday, September 6. The race will also be broadcast on the Performance Racing Network and Sirius/XM Satellite Radio beginning at 6:30 p.m. EDT. Qualifying for the 25th points-paying event of the 2009 NSCS season will air live on Saturday, September 5 beginning at 4:30 EDT on SPEED. PRN and Sirius/XM Satellite Radio will also provide live updates of time trials.

· Holiday Inn’s Hometown … Intercontinental Hotel Group, the parent company of Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, is headquartered in Atlanta, Ga. Holiday Inn became the primary sponsor for RCR’ No. 29 Nationwide Series entry for 10 races with Jeff Burton in 2006. In 2007, Burton and Scott Wimmer won the NNS owners’ point championship. In 105 career NNS starts, the No. 29 Holiday Inn Chevrolet has earned eight wins, 35 top-five and 70 top-10 finishes. Collectively, the four drivers of Clint Bowyer, Burton, Leicht and Wimmer recorded an 11.3 average start and an 11th-place finishing average in the No. 29 Chevrolet.

· Happy Birthday … Brandon Lee, rear-tire changer on the Holiday Inn Racing’s over-the-wall crew, will celebrate a birthday on Thursday, September 4. During the week, Lee works as a mechanic during the week at RCR’s Sprint Cup Series shop.

· Stay Updated … For behind-the-scenes information about the No. 29 team and updates throughout each race weekend, visit www.twitter.com/HolidayInnRacin.

· Race Broadcast Information … The Degree V12 300 will be televised live on ESPN2 on Saturday, September 5 beginning at 6:30 p.m. EDT. The race will also be broadcast on PRN and Sirius/XM Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the 26th event of the 2009 NNS season will air on the same day beginning at 2:30 p.m. EDT on SPEED. PRN and Sirius/XM Satellite Radio will also broadcast live updates of time trials.

How much of a difference, in terms of speed, is there between the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series cars at Atlanta?

“It’s a huge difference. Atlanta is a really fast race track in both series, but the Nationwide cars carry more speed through the center of the corners because they have more downforce. These cars are slower down the straight-aways, which makes you go faster in the corners compared to the Cup cars. There are a lot of things you can do to a Nationwide car from the body to the chassis that you can give you an advantage. You drive these cars much more aggressively than you do the Cup cars.”

Do the speeds change during a race? How do you think night racing will play a role in the speeds?

“Atlanta, to me, has duel personalities. As fast as it is on lap three, it really gets slow on lap 35. The speeds fall off as the track slickens up. But, we’ve never raced at night before at Atlanta. During the Nationwide Series night race, there are going to be times when we are going to be close to being, if not, wide open, in race trim, which is always fast.”

DOUG RANDOLPH QUOTES:

The No. 29 team has been running consistently well these past 10 weekends. How do you feel about the progress you’re making?

“We’re definitely hitting our stride, but we’re not exactly where we want to be. Our hope is to be contending for top fives and wins before too long and we’re just about there. We’ve tried some new things with the cars over the past few weeks and are making gains with the overall handling. Our goal each race is to have a better finish than the previous weekend.”

What are your goals for Atlanta’s first night race in the Nationwide Series?

“To be successful at Atlanta, you need a car that can enter the corners carrying a lot of speed. The biggest challenge is going to be night racing for the first time. I think we’re going to see faster speeds for sure, but it will be interesting to see how the speeds fall off. We’re trying some new things that we learned from our test at Rockingham last week. We think we have a good set up for the race and hope, with Burton’s previous success there, we’ll have a solid run.”

Venue: Circuit Gilles Villeneuve – Montreal

NOTES:

· This Weekend’s Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express Chevrolet Impala SS at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve … Stephen Leicht will pilot Chassis No. 075 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable this weekend. Built new in 2008, Clint Bowyer raced this former No. 2 Chevy to a sixth-place finish last April at Autòdromo Hermanos Rodrìguez (Mexico City) and a ninth-place finish last August at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Montreal).

· 70th career NNS Start … The 22-year old Asheville, N.C., native will make his 70th career NNS start this weekend. In 69 starts, Leicht has one win (Kentucky – 2007), 14 top-10 and 38 top-20 finishes. He boasts an average start of 17.3 and an average finish of 20.7. In his five-year NNS career, he has led six races for a total of 66 laps and been running at the finish in 60 races (87.0 percent).

· Unique Status … Leicht is one of eight drivers to earn a top-five finish at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Additionally, Leicht and Marcos Ambrose are the only two drivers who accomplished this feat at Montreal while running the full 35-race NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule. Leicht did it in 2007 and Ambrose did it back-to-back in 2007 and 2008.

· Third Time Around … Leicht finished fifth in his only career start at Montreal in 2007. Last season, he posted the 17th- and 13th-fastest speeds while practicing RCR’s No. 2 Chevrolet for Clint Bowyer.

· Leicht’s Montreal Loop … According to NASCAR’s Loop Data Statistics, Leicht is second among drivers at the 2.71-mile Canadian road course with an average of 27 quality passes. The quality pass formula is calculated by the number of passes a driver has, while running inside the top 15, under green-flag conditions.

· RCR Equipment for Leicht … Leicht joined RCR in 2008 and has driven in 12 NNS events for the Welcome, N.C.,-based race team. He has recorded six top-10 and nine top-15 finishes dating back to February 25, 2008. Leicht has an 11.5 starting average, a 13.8 finishing average and has completed 2,331 of 2,444 (95.4 percent) of the lap contested.

· Elite Winner … Leicht is one of six non-double-duty drivers to run at least one full NNS season since 2006 and won a race in NASCAR’s junior division. The list also includes Ambrose, Mike Bliss, Brad Keselowski, Jason Leffler and Paul Menard.

· RCR in Montreal … In four previous starts at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, RCR-prepared Chevrolets have earned one win and four top-11 finishes. The 54-time NNS winning organization won the inaugural race in 2007 with Kevin Harvick.

· RCR’s Road Course Stats … In 25 NNS road course starts (includes Mexico City, Montreal and Watkins Glen), the five-time NNS championship organization earned two wins, eight top-five and 16 top-10 finishes. RCR-prepared Chevrolets boast a 9.8 average finish and have completed all but one lap (1957 of 1958) contested in those starts.

· Rearview Mirror … Bowyer drove the No. 29 Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express Chevrolet to a seventh-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway last Friday, extending the No. 29 team’s streak to 10 consecutive top-15 finishes. With 11 races remaining in the 2009 NNS season, the Richard Childress-owned team remains seventh in the owners’ point standings, 97 markers behind Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 20 entry in fifth.

With one race under your belt at Montreal, what are your goals heading there this weekend?

“I definitely have more confidence heading into the weekend than I did back in 2007. We finished fifth here when I was with (Robert) Yates, but I feel I’m with a better team and have better equipment this time around. Last year, when I practiced the No. 2 Chevy for Clint, I developed a better feel for the track. I’ve learned that tire wear is not big, but track position and a smart strategy for the race are important. We need to qualify well, have a good pit strategy and, if we play our cards right, we might be in a position to win the race.”

You’ve said that Montreal is one of your favorite tracks the Nationwide Series visits. Why is that?

“This is one of the stops on our circuit that I can’t wait for at the beginning of each season. The fans are very welcoming to our sport. They love NASCAR racing just as much as our fans do in America. They enjoy having big name drivers from the Nationwide Series race alongside their Canadian drivers. The track is relatively flat and open, which gives everyone the chance to see the amazing scenery. The city of Montreal is awesome, too, and there is plenty to do away from the track.”

What’s your take on the Canadian road-course ringers?

“I think it’s great they get the opportunity to race with us once a year. They know how to get around this road course and enjoy helping series regulars learn the track better. They do have the home-track advantage on their side, especially with the fans in attendance, but I intend to give them a run for their money and have a solid finish.”

It’s your 70th career NNS start. How do you feel about what you’ve accomplished thus far in your early career?

“It’s been amazing so far. I’ve learned a lot in this series and have met some great people along the way. I started out racing when I was little, but never dreamed I would be in the position where I’m at today. To be able to tell people who I raced door-to-door with is pretty cool. This season alone is filled with awesome memories. I was a part of Richard Childress’ 700th career Nationwide Series start and I’ll be making my 70th career Nationwide start driving for the same guy who owned Dale Earnhardt’s car. That’s big. I’m just proud to be along for the ride right now, and hope for bigger and better things to come in the future.”

DOUG RANDOLPH (CREW CHIEF) QUOTE:

What are your goals heading to Montreal?

“It’s one of the few places I’ve yet to visit on the Nationwide Series side, but I’m definitely excited. Stephen seems to have the track figured out, which definitely gives us confidence heading into the weekend. We’re going to get our Chevrolet to handle to Stephen’s liking during the practice sessions and try to have a strong qualifying effort. Track position is so important at road course races, so starting further up definitely helps. In regards to the race, we’re going to stick to our fuel strategy we set and, hopefully, put ourselves in position to contend for the win at the end of the day.”

Venue: Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway

NOTES:

· This Weekend’s Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express Chevrolet Impala SS at Bristol Motor Speedway … Clint Bowyer will pilot Chassis No. 068 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable in this Friday’s Food City 250. Bowyer has driven this No. 29 Chevy twice in 2009, finishing third at Bristol in March and 14th at Dover International Speedway in May. Jeff Burton also drove this Impala SS to a 10th-place finish at Lowe’s Motor Speedway this past May. In 2008, this chassis finished 12th at LMS in May and fourth at DIS in September.

· Statistically Speaking …

o Start and Finish … Bowyer, a seven-time NNS winner, has completed every lap contested in his nine NNS races at BMS. He has not started outside the top 16 and has only one finish outside the top 13, which came in August 2006.

o 2008 BMS Domination … In both NNS races at Bristol last season, Bowyer visited Victory Lane in March and finished second in August, leading 57.2 percent (243 of 421) of the laps contested.

o Loop ‘D Loop … According to NASCAR’s loop data statistics over the past nine races at Bristol, Bowyer leads all drivers with 2,044 laps (77.7 percent) run inside the top 15 and 1,352 total points accumulated. His driver rating of 108.2 ranks him fifth-best among all drivers in those races. The Driver Rating is a formula that combines the following categories: wins, top-15 finishes, average running position while on the lead lap, average speed under green, fastest lap, most laps led and lead-lap finishes. The maximum points a driver can earn in each race is 150 points. The Driver Rating number is used pre-race as a prediction tool and post-race as a performance evaluator.

o Bowyer’s 2009 NNS Recap … In six NNS starts this season, the defending series champion has earned one win, one pole and four top-three finishes. He boasts a 6.3 average start, a 9.2 average finish and has completed 99.7 percent (1,039 of 1,042) of the laps contested.

o RCR in Thunder Valley … In 44 NNS starts at Bristol, RCR-prepared Chevrolets have earned 20 top-five and 25-top 10 finishes. They have six wins among three different drivers, including four with Kevin Harvick (August 2000, August 2001, March 2003 and April 2005), one with Jeff Green (March 2002) and one with Bowyer (March 2008). The Welcome, N.C.,-based organization has led 1,581 laps at the “World’s Fastest Half-Mile” and boasts a 13.1 finishing average.

Last season, you dominated both Nationwide Series races at Bristol and this season you finished third. What can you say about your recent success there?

“Bristol is definitely one of my better tracks in the Nationwide Series and it seems to fit my driving style. RCR has always prepared good-handling Chevrolets for me there and I’ve learned my way around the high-banked corners. Last season, we had the dominant car in both races, but came up short in the fall race. We had a solid run this past spring and, hopefully, we can continue to run up front and try to get this No. 29 Holiday Inn Chevrolet back to Victory Lane.”

How big was it to win a race at Bristol?

“It was a ton of fun and that’s one of the tracks that you want to win at on the circuit. It’s a hard race track and it’s demanding. If you can go there and beat the rest of the field, at a place like Bristol, you’ve been rewarded for a hard day’s work.”

DOUG RANDOLPH (CREW CHIEF) QUOTE:

What are your thoughts heading into this Friday night’s Nationwide Series race at Bristol?

“Our short-track program has been pretty solid this season, especially when Clint is driving because those tracks fit his driving style. I wasn’t around for the third-place run at Bristol in the spring, but I’m confident we can match it, if not do better than it, this weekend. We seem to have that place figured out as an organization on the Nationwide Series side and, hopefully, we can carry that momentum over to this weekend.”

What are the keys to running well at Bristol?

“The biggest thing for the race will be getting the car to enter and exit the corners consistently. Although this is a short track, the cars carry a lot of speed in and off the high-banked turns. The progressive banking in the corners allows for several different lines to choose from, so we’ll adjust our Chevy to whichever line works best for Clint. Another key aspect at Bristol is qualifying towards the front and staying out of trouble. If we can do that, we should be in contention for another top-three finish and an overall strong points day.”

AUSTIN DILLON Quote:

“I’m excited to be heading to Michigan for the second time. I learned a lot in my first race there and hope to apply some of the things I’ve learned during that race to our No. 2 Chevrolet this weekend. Everyone on our team has done a great job this year, especially guiding me along the Nationwide Series learning curve. I’m beginning to understand the bigger engine size and heavier stock cars in the series. Hopefully, we can carry over some of the momentum we’ve had in our other racing effort to our Nationwide program this weekend. “

DAN DEERINGHOFF (Crew Chief) Quote:

“Austin did a great job the first time we came here and that definitely builds up our confidence. The biggest challenge we’re going to face at Michigan is getting our Chevy to roll through the centers well in order to get back to the throttle quickly. The competition is going to be stronger because of the number of Cup drivers taking part in the Nationwide race at Michigan, but we are confident we can leave there with a top-20 finish.”

NOTES:

· This Week’s Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express Chevrolet Impala SS at Michigan International Speedway … Jeff Burton will pilot Chassis No. 077 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable in this weekend’s CARFAX 250. Built new in 2009, this is the same No. 29 Impala SS Burton drove to a ninth-place finish at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in May. Most recently, Stephen Leicht finished 31st in this Holiday Inn Chevrolet after his engine overheated at Kentucky Speedway in June.

· Statistically Speaking …

o Caution-Free Winner … Burton, a 27-time winner in NASCAR’s junior circuit, won the most recent caution-free NNS race on August 15, 1998 at Michigan International Speedway. He earned the victory from the pole and led 80 of 100 green-flag laps.

o All-Time at MIS … Burton is second all-time at MIS in both top-five (five) and top-10 (eight) finishes in NNS competition. Also, he is fifth all-time in laps led (99) in NNS events at the two-mile Irish Hills oval.

o Loop-D-Loop … Based on NASCAR’s loop data statistics, Burton has run inside the top 15 for 82.2 percent (208 of 253) of laps contested in his two most recent NNS races at MIS (2006 & 2007).

o RCR at Michigan … In 20 previous NNS starts at MIS, RCR has one win (Kevin Harvick – 2003), along with five top-five and 11 top-10 finishes.
· Rearview Mirror … Last weekend, Burton and the Holiday Inn Racing team used pit strategy to finish sixth in the Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International. The No. 29 team’s eighth consecutive top-15 finish allowed them to maintain seventh position in the NNS owners’ point standings. Now, only 98 markers separate the Doug Randolph-led team from Braun Racing’s No. 38 team in fifth.

· Double Duty at MIS … In addition to his NNS duties, Burton will pilot the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Michigan. ESPN’s coverage of the CARFAX 400 on August 16 will start at 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The race will also be broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius/XM Satellite Radio beginning at 1:15 p.m. EDT.

You have a win at Michigan in the Nationwide Series. What does it take to come out on top at that track?

“Our Holiday Inn Chevy has driven really well at Michigan in the past. You always want to get around the corner a little better than someone else and what helps is the amount of grip you can generate. You never really know what you need to do because things change. In order to be competitive, we need a car that handles well through the middle and off the corners. If we have that, we’ll be successful.”

What are the keys to qualifying well at Michigan?

“Hitting your lines just right is the key to qualifying, especially at a fast race track like Michigan. The interesting thing about the Nationwide Series is that you have to qualify what you race. You certainly have to make some sacrifices in your qualifying setup to be good for the race but the impound rule adds to the strategy game in this series. Doug (Randolph, crew chief) has been working really hard at improving our qualifying efforts because track position has played an important role in a lot of these races. We have a fast Holiday Inn Chevrolet this weekend and, hopefully, we can start towards the front.”

DOUG RANDOLPH QUOTES:

You have eight consecutive top-15 finishes. What else is being done to improve the No. 29 team’s performance?

“We feel like we’re improving but we need to be better. My original hope was to be fifth in points by this point and over the last two weeks, we’ve been able to have strong points finishes. We need to be able to contend for wins and top-five finishes, which we’ve lacked this year, but I’m confident they’re coming. The No. 29 team has been testing our Chevys on the seven post and wind tunnel to gather as much info as possible. The Holiday Inn over-the-wall crew has really improved and our pit stops have been faster.”

As you continue to improve, what’s your goal this weekend and beyond?

“We are going to take one race at a time. Heading into Michigan, we look to continue our consistency, but also improve on each finish. My goal is to improve on our previous finish in the next race. We finished sixth at Watkins Glen and we want to finish fifth or better at Michigan. It’s an attainable goal and we’re confident we can put that into effect this weekend.”
