HOLLY, Michigan (July 23, 2009) – - The Click It Or Ticket. Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 is over but BCR Racing is still reaming the benefits of the most recent ARCA RE/MAX Series event as the part-time team emerged as a serious threat in the 11th race of the season with development driver J.R. Heffner at the controls.

Despite finishing 14th in the event, the result doesn’t show the strength the Michigan-based team showed. A new car for the team acquired from Dale Earnhardt Inc. (DEI) gave the team some momentum and a positive test at the 1.5-mile oval two weeks prior to the event had the team steering in the right direction heading into the race weekend.

Posting the 10th and 17th fastest times overall in practice; the BCR development team owned by ARCA veteran Howard Bixman knew that had not shown their full potential leading up to qualifying. In time trials, the team stepped up to the plate and delivered.

Heffner, a familiar face on the dirt knocked out what the team could call a home-run with a sixth place qualifying effort, posting a time of 30.486. The run was a career best for Heffner, a native of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. During the race, Heffner stayed in contention and hovered in the top-10 for a majority of the race but damage to the front of the car made for a tight-handling No. 74 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS forced the backslide in the running order. Still the top-15 effort is a season best for the rookie. More importantly though, the performance was a step in the right direction.

“I’m very proud of the BCR team,” said Bixman. “J.R. really showed maturity as a driver at Kentucky. After our second race of the season at Kentucky, we sat down and talked about what we needed to do to make this team better. Checking off the goals one by one, we came to Kentucky last weekend on top of our game and it showed.”

Bixman continued, “It was a strong field. J.R. doesn’t have a lot experience on the bigger tracks so we worked at the test to get him familiar with the car and the racetrack at the same time. The more laps he posted the more comfortable he became. We came back for the race and we conquered all of our goals. Now, we’ll build on Kentucky and look towards our next race at Chicago.”

Heffner, himself was equally pleased with Kentucky.

“It felt good to be running near the front and being in the mix,” remarked Heffner, a 2007 and 2008 Modified Champion. “Howard has really done a great job on making the car comfortable for me and I’ve stepped up my focus on what we need to accomplish each time we come to the race. Now we can build on this and be ready to meet our next challenge soon.”

With the noteworthy performance in the books, BCR Racing isn’t done. They want more. A lot more.

“We’re going to keep testing and when we come back ARCA racing, we’re going to be even better than we were at Kentucky. Working hard pays off. Determination equal results. We’ve practiced and qualified in the top-10, now it’s time to finish inside the top-10. Chicagoland here we come,” quoted Bixman, who also holds the role as crew chief and driving coach for Heffner.

BCR Racing would like thank it’s sponsors, A. Colarusso and Son, Park East Sales and Disposal Express for their support throughout the 2009 season.

BCR Racing is expected to compete in the Ansell Cut Protection 150 at Chicagoland Speedway on August 28th. The team plans to end their season on a positive note at Kansas Speedway for the Kansas Lottery 150 set for October 1st.

Sparta, KY (7/18/09) – ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Tom Hessert III brought the No. 09 Cherry Hill Classic Cars Ford home with a 10th place finish after Saturday night’s Click It or Ticket Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 at Kentucky Speedway. Hessert, who ran in the top-five for much of the night, restarted 12th following the evening’s final caution before battling for his first top-10 finish with RAB Racing.

During Friday’s practice sessions, the No. 09 team made small adjustments in preparation for qualifying. Hessert toured the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval in 31.109 seconds (173.583 mph) earning a 17th place starting position for Saturday night’s main event.

The Cherry Hill, NJ native wasted no time in making a charge towards the front of the 43-car field and raced competitively inside the top-10 throughout the opening 30 laps. Hessert was happy with the handling on the No. 09 Cherry Hill Classic Cars Ford through the first half of the race and even entered the top-5 just prior to half-way which is where he stayed until the evening’s last caution.

Crew chief Keith Hinkein took advantage of the yellow flag and brought the No. 09 machine down pit road one last time for two right side tires and fuel. When green flag racing resumed, Hessert was scored 12th.

Due to taking right side tires only, Hessert started experiencing tight handling conditions on his No. 09 Cherry Hill Classic Cars Ford. Although he would make one final rally into the top-10 before the checkered flag, the No. 09 team would settle for a 10th place finish in the 150-mile event.

“Kentucky was a great weekend for us,” stated Hessert. “We were very competitive and ran in the top 5 and 10 for the entire race. At the end of the race we were too tight to have a top five finish, but coming out of there with our first top ten as a team was great. We learned a lot throughout the weekend about our intermediate program and I am really excited for the next race with this car.”

Next up for Tom Hessert and RAB Racing is the Wolverine Power Systems 200 presented by Generac from Berlin Raceway on Saturday, July 25th at 8:30 p.m. ET. Hessert looks to top his previous finish of ninth at Berlin Raceway last July in the ARCA RE/MAX Series with another strong performance in the No. 09 Cherry Hills Classic Cars Ford this weekend.

“Berlin has always been a good track for me,” said Hessert. “It’s a very unique race track, very short and the surface is very slick. I have had some success there in the past in open wheel races, midgets and super modified. Last year I finished 9th and I expect to be even better this year with RAB Racing.”

· Keeton Hanks finished 2nd in the No. 09 Zaxby’s Late Model in Saturday’s nights Georgia Asphalt Series race in Cordele, GA.

This Week’s No. 09 Zaxby’s Ford: Townley will pilot chassis No. 025 in this weekend’s event at ORP. This is a previous Roush Fenway Racing chassis and was last seen at Gateway Int’l Raceway where the Watkinsville, GA native brought home his seventh top-25 finish; finishing 21st in the Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250.

Moving Forward: Townley tied for his best finish in eight starts last weekend at Gateway; finishing 21st.
Points Check: Due to Townley’s top-25 efforts at Gateway the Raybestos Rookie gained two spots from 27th 25th in the 2009 driver point standings. Jay Robinson, owner of the No. 09 Zaxby’s Ford remains 34th in the season long championship point standings with 1,211 points; 271 points outside the top-30.

Rookie Race: Townley remains 6th in the 2009 Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings with 101 points.

Said In At The Glen: RAB Racing announced Monday that road course specialist, Boris Said will pilot the No. 09 Zaxby’s Ford Fusion in the upcoming Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International on August 8th.
A Proven Champion: David Green, the 1994 NASCAR Nationwide Series Champion has been working with John Wes since Dover (May, 2009) as his driver coach and spotter. Green has worked with other rookie drivers such as Stephen Leicht and Landon Cassill.

News from the ARCA RE/MAX Series Garage: ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Tom Hessert III brought the No.

You have never been to ORP, what have you been doing to prepare yourself for the short track?

“Brad (Parrott) gave me an in-car camera video from last year when he was at ORP with Bryan Clauson so I have been watching that. David Green will take me around the track when we get to the track on Friday and I also plan to stay Friday night and watch the truck race. The ban on testing sure makes it hard for rookies like myself that have never been to these tracks, but between the two practice sessions we have on Friday and the great Zaxby’s team I have beside me I know that we can qualify well and bring the Zaxby’s Ford home with a good finish and continue our march forward.”

Unfortunately, the record books will not reflect their strong performance through the first half of the 100-lap event.

Billy Venturini, crew chief of the No. 25 Valvoline/Gunter’s Honey Chevrolet, and his team prepared a fast racecar. Richards, the 21-year-old points leader in the World of Outlaws’ Late Model Series, debuted the home state sponsor’s red and blue colors during practice where he was reliably within the Top-5 during both qualifying and race trim. The rookie driver also notched an impressive 4th place qualifying effort with an average speed just over 178mph around the 1.5-mi oval.

Richards remained consistently rooted in the Top-10 and was poised for a solid finish after his team made a track-bar adjustment, took four tires and fuel on their final planned pit stop on lap 41. However, slight contact on lap 61 resulted in an accident that ended the team’s night early.

“This was a terrible way to end the race especially having such a fast race car and I’m disappointed for the entire Venturini team who delivered a great car and for our generous sponsors at Valvoline and Gunter’s Honey,” noted Richards. “We made that last pit stop and didn’t get as good of a restart as I hoped for but knew we had the means to go the distance and take home a good finish.”

Richards officially finished thirty-second out of the thirty-eight cars that attempted the event.

“Cars kept breaking loose all night so I was trying to be as conscious of that as possible at 175mph. I knew that last caution was for No. 32, who was running competitively to us all day, after he lost air and spun,” recalled Richards. “We were racing each other in 12th (position) and I moved up to give him extra room because I saw the lap traffic. I don’t know what exactly happened but I think he just drifted up a bit too much and got us in the left quarter and I was on the high side so there wasn’t any room to try and save it. Racing deals happen but they don’t make things any easier because I know that we had a car that was capable of a strong finish and so he did he.”

Disappointment cannot linger long as the West Virginian will be back behind the wheel of his No. 1 Seubert Calf Ranches Rocket dirt late model four for events during this week’s World of Outlaws’ Late Model Series’ “Ohio Speedweek”. Richards will attempt to extend his current points lead starting Thursday night, July 23rd, at Muskingum Co. Speedway in Zanesville, OH.

Richards’ No. 25 Chevy Monte Carlo SS was fielded by Venturini Motorsports and carried sponsorship from Valvoline, Gunter’s Honey, Seubert Calf Ranches, Petroff Towing, ACE Metal Works, Ernie D’s Enterprises, Hoosier Tire, Simpson Race Products, and Sunoco Race Fuels. The 19-year-old rookie had to start the Click It or Ticket Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 using a provisional, just one week after earning his career first Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell at Iowa Speedway. However, Coulter was able to maintain his top-ten streak by bringing home a seventh place finish.

“I was definitely going for it, I think we had a really good chance of getting our second Menards Pole Award but as I came off turn two the car came around and that’s when I made contact with the turn two wall,” stated Coulter. “I really have to thank my entire crew, they did a great job with bringing out the backup car and getting it race ready in such a short amount of time. The car is demolished, and I have to give thanks to the safety precautions, the SAFER barrier, as well as the use of the Safety Solutions Hybrid Pro device.”

Coulter rolled off the starting grid 33rd for the Click It or Ticket Buckle-Up Kentucky 150, and shortly after taking the green flag the Miami Springs, Florida native charged into 25th position before the caution flag flew on lap two for an incident involving the No. 90. Coulter would move into the top-20 as the caution flag flew once again on lap six for the No. 60 spinning on the front stretch.

Coulter continued to charge to the front and had moved into the 14th position when the caution flag flew approaching lap 25, which sent leaders to pit road. Crew Chief Harold Holly chose to make a track bar adjustment, along with four tires and fuel, which shuffled Coulter from inside the top-15 to 25th on the restart.

Ten green flag laps passed, and Coulter continued his charge to the front, gaining six positions which moved him into 19th. As several lead cars pitted, Holly told his driver to stay out for track position. Once the field restarted on lap 45, Coulter was 11th on the scoring pylon.

Nearing the halfway mark, Coulter brought his No. 16 Gwynn Foundation-Tempest Cycles Chevrolet down pit road one final time for fuel and a wedge adjustment. The adjustments would shuffle him back to the 25th position.

The final round of pit stops came just inside of the final 35 laps, but Coulter was good to go until the end, so he kept his No. 16 machine on the track as the leaders dashed down pit road. This strategy shifted Coulter from outside the top-15 to fifth as the field restarted on lap 69.

As the final green flag laps neared, the No. 77, 6 and 51 would get by Coulter, shifting him into the eighth position. But as the field approached the white flag, the No. 11 ran out of fuel, which moved Coulter into seventh position as the checkered flag waved.

“Overall it was still a good night for Coulter Motorsports, we brought out our back-up, started in the rear, charged from the back to the front on a couple of different occasions, and still brought home top-ten finish. Having to come from the back of the field definitely made for some excitement,” stated Coulter on his top-ten run.

Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is a one-day show at Berlin Raceway for the Wolverine Power Systems 200 presented by Generac Saturday, July 25. Practice is scheduled from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. EST Saturday, July 25 with Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell following at 5:00 p.m. The start of the Wolverine Power Systems 200 presented by Generac is scheduled to go off at 8:30 p.m. Saturday night.

The Shelby Township, Michigan native returned to Kentucky Speedway looking to improve on a solid top-10 performance in May. The Sparta, Kentucky track has been one of Brent’s strongest tracks during his tenure in ARCA RE/MAX Series competition.

The Justin Allgaier Motorsports (JAM) team led by crew chief Bob Blount participated in the open-test at Kentucky Speedway a few weeks ago and the rookie bunch had hoped to improve on the team’s performance from the test.

The ARS teams would be granted two practice sessions on Friday evening hoping to dial in their machines for round 11 of the year. During the two practices, Brent and the team struggled to find grip on the No. 36 Dodge Charger.

In the first practice, Brent produced the 21st fastest lap. In happy hour, he picked up the pace a little bit but slipped back to the 22nd position.

“We were hoping to unload and be a lot better than what we are,” said Brent. “We have been adjusting the setup on the car but nothing seems to be doing the trick. We’re going to throw a few more adjustments at the car for qualifying and hope it pays off, especially for the race.”

In time trials, Brent posted his fastest lap of the weekend to a 31.602 seconds or 170.875 miles per hour which gridded the team 20th for the event.

“We’re a little better but not where we want or need to be,” explained Brent following qualifying. “Tonight’s race is relatively short so it’s going to take a lot of work on us all to have a good run.”

From the drop of the green flag, Brent remained locked in the top-16 battling a loose No. 36 Dodge Charger. Unable to find the grip or connection with Kentucky Speedway; Brent remained on the lead lap through the series first caution flags but opted for a trip to pit road approaching lap 30 for tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment to revert the looseness of Brent’s machine.

On the restart, Brent tried to march towards the mid-pack with eyes set on the top-10, but while the car’s conditions improved, the car began to revert back to the previous way which set the team in motion towards heading out of the top-20.

Determined not to give up, Brent kept his car on the lead lap and in the top-20 until the team’s final round of pit stops occurred inside the event’s final 35 laps.

The stops were a great improvement from the team’s first tango with Kentucky Speedway and with Brent back on the track and a shootout ahead; the team was confident that Brent could battle back towards the front on the track. He didn’t disappoint.

During the course of the event’s 30 laps, Brent’s lap times improved greatly with the last series of adjustments which included a wedge adjustment allowed the car to hook up to the 1.5-mile oval and maneuver through the field.

Battling to inside the top-15, Brent needed a caution to catch-up to his competitors. With that opportunity never taking place, Brent had to dig deep ahead of him and was able to click off three positions before the checkered flag waived with the 22-year old crossing the start-finish line in the 12th position.

The effort was Brent’s seventh top-12 finish in 10 races.

Robb Brent

“We’re not real happy with the finish but we’ll take it,” sounded Brent after the event. “Plain and simple, we struggled with the handling on our Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge Charger. We finally were able to get the car running good at the end of the race but by then it was really too late. I’m proud of the guys for never giving up. The run is what it is. We’ll try and learn from it and move ahead to next weekend.”

Brent’s run also closed the gap from 10th place competitor Tim George Jr in the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship chase. Brent leaves Kentucky still occupying the 11th position in the point standings.

Washington Township, Michigan based Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep will continue it’s long-time association with Brent and serve as the primary sponsor on Brent’s No. 36 Dodge Charger this weekend. Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep has backed Brent since his entrance into racing at the age of 16.

Prior to joining Justin Allgaier Motorsports, Brent participated in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving for NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski and Brad Keselowski Racing. In his 27 ARCA starts, Brent has acquired two top-five finishes and nine top-10 efforts. Brent notched his career best qualifying effort of second at Kentucky Speedway last year. He has led the ARCA RE/MAX Series pack twice for 21 laps in 2008. His best finish in the NCWTS occurred at Nashville Superspeedway in his inaugural truck debut where he finished 21st after qualifying 26th.

This season, Brent has four top-10 finishes in 10 starts with a best finish of seventh at Pocono Raceway earlier in June. A 15th place qualifying effort at Michigan International Speedway in June is the team’s season best thus far.

Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is a trip to Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan for the running of the Wolverine Power Systems 200 presented by Generac set for next Saturday, July 25. Brent will make his inaugural debut at Berlin. The team is hoping to improve on their season best ninth place short track performance at Toledo Speedway in May.

Veteran ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) driver Patrick Sheltra earned a well deserved top-10 finish in Saturday night’s Click It Or Ticket. Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 at Kentucky Speedway. The finish though didn’t come without its challenges but as the Sheltra Motorsports team has shown time after time, they are able to produce and rebound in times of potential trouble.

After notching a sixth place finish at Kentucky Speedway in May, Sheltra looked to return to the 1.5-mile speedplant looking to put his No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings on the board after a recent slew of less than satisfying performances have tried to derail the third year ARCA team. Armed with the same car that team mounted their third top-10 performance of the year just two months ago; they were anxiously hoping for a similar performance.

The ARCA RE/MAX Series teams would have to maneuver around an awkward schedule which consisted of two practice sessions and late night garage closings. For the Whitesville, Kentucky based operation, they were thankful for all the time they were granted.

In the first practice session, Sheltra showed that he had a solid car after posting times in the top-15. The team endured a scare though as Sheltra exited turn four on one of his practice laps, the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings racing machine broke loose with the team’s Dodge Charger spinning wildly down the frontstretch. With minimal damage, the team finished the session 19th overall.

With the valance repaired and new tires secured, Sheltra and Co. had hoped for a better showing in happy hour. Picking up two tenths of a second in the second practice session, Sheltra still only managed the 19th fastest lap which set the team into overdrive to put a solid race handling package underneath the Indiantown, Florida native’s machine.

In qualifying, Sheltra found a little more speed by maneuvering a lap of 31.328 seconds at 172.730 miles per hour which ironically lined up the Grace Sheltra owned machine 19th for the 11th event on the ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule.

The stars of the ARCA RE/MAX Series took their green flag approximately a half hour after the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event concluded in an exciting double header in Northern Kentucky.

From the drop of the green flag, it appeared that “Mr. Showtime”; as he’s known through the ARCA garage was shot out of a cannon as the No. 60 blasted its way from the 19th position to the ninth position before the yellow flag came out for an incident involving the No. 90 Toyota.

Sheltra informed his team that his car was free in the center of the corner early on. The freeness showed for Sheltra on lap six as the No. 60 bought out the second caution flag of the night for a spin through the frontstretch grass. The incident was identical to the previous night’s episode.

A trip to pit road for four tires and damage control would put the team at the back of the pack. Back to green, Sheltra continued his climb back to the front and had moved into the 19th position when the yellow flag waived approaching near lap 25 which sent the leaders to pit road. Crew Chief John Hayden elected to put just fuel in the No. 60 machine which shifted Sheltra from inside the top-20 to sixth on the scoring pylon.

On the restart, Sheltra would maintain a healthy position in the top-10 and battle cars on the same pit sequence. Hayden praised his driver on lap 47 for turning his fastest lap of the race at 31.490 seconds.

The final round of pit stops would occur inside the final 35 laps of the event where the Sheltra Motorsports pit crew warriors bolted on four new tires and added fuel. Hayden, a former ARCA driver himself also made a tire pressure adjustment to help Sheltra with a “snug” condition he was battling during the last run. As Sheltra exited his pit stall, the No. 60 stuttered and stalled costing the team a couple positions.

Once re-fired, Sheltra apologized to his crew for the mishap. The crew told their pilot to shake-it off and focus on returning to top-10 form.

A wacky restart kept Sheltra from making a significant charge towards the front but the driver was able to pick off two positions before the yellow flag waived for an incident coming out of turn four. Two cars collided in front of Sheltra throwing up enormous smoke forcing the dirt late model ace to take abrasive actions. Thanks to a great call from spotter Kevin Huffines to duck low, the No. 60 emerged unscathed.

On the final restart of the event, the cameras were focused on the leaders but it was Sheltra from behind that was making some noise as he began slicing and dicing his way through the pack and passed three cars inside the final eight laps of the 100-lap event to record a well-earned ninth place finish in his sixth trip to Kentucky Speedway. The finish was also the team’s best performance since a third place finish a month and a half ago.

This is hopefully the start of a turn-around for us. We’ve had a couple tough races but a finish like this really boosts the team’s morale as we head to Berlin next weekend. We’re not out of the hunt for a top-five championship finish; and that’s what we are aiming for. Kentucky was a step in the right direction towards making that goal become a reality.”

Sheltra remains eighth in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings but closed the gap on returning to the top-five in the championship chase.

Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is a trip to Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan for the running of the Wolverine Power Systems 200 presented by Generac set for next Saturday night, July 25. Sheltra will make his third ever start at the .4-mile Great Lakes short track. In 2007, Sheltra recorded his first ever top-five finish in ARCA competition at Berlin Raceway by finishing fourth.

Exiting Kentucky, Sheltra has 57 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated nine top-fives and posted 19 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field five times for 109 laps.

Buckle-Up! Kentucky 150” tonight at Kentucky Speedway.

Kligerman claimed the sixth-closest series victory in track history by 0.599 of a second after guiding his No. 77 Cunningham Motorsports Dodge past Enfinger’s No. 83 BeasleyAllen.com Ford on the inside line in Turn 4 as both cars barreled toward the checkered flag.

“I knew he was going to go high. I had to go low, but I kept getting loose at the bottom and I didn’t want a repeat of last time here (when I spun out and finished 17th). We went back at it, I saw him go high and I thought he’d drive it in.

“So, the second I went in there I just wanted to force him out. I decided to get on the throttle regardless of where he’d be. I figured we’d either hit or look like heroes. We looked like heroes, so that’s good,” he said.

The first-year series driver earned much sought after redemption following his May 9 showing here that marks his only finish outside a race top 10 this season. He maintains control of the series championship lead by taking his fifth win, seventh top-five and 10th top-10 finish. He earned those wins in the past six series events.

Enfinger, an accomplished Late Model racer competing in the ARCA RE/MAX Series with a limited budget, led all of but two of the closing 30 laps before being nipped at the finish line. He earned his season-best second-place finish in just his third start.

“I drove it in there (Turn 4) a little bit too hard and heard him get back on the gas. I did everything I could, but ran out tires a little bit. He was unquestionably a lot faster and I think the best car won. It was kind of David and Goliath here, and I think we caught everyone by surprise by staying in front of him as long as we did,” Enfinger said.

Second-place championship contender Justin Lofton placed third in his No. 6 Lofton Cattle-CGS Imaging Toyota and has now earned two straight top-five series finishes at the track. Craig Goess earned a season-best fourth-place finish and Brian Ickler rounded out the top five after placing 21st in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series “Built Ford Tough 225 Presented by the Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers” earlier tonight.

Kentucky Speedway plays host to its fourth and final 2009 race weekend featuring IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights action July 31-Aug. 1. Both series open the weekend with Friday practice sessions and qualifying before staging a Saturday doubleheader featuring the IndyCar Series “Meijer Indy 300 Presented by Red Baron and Edy’s” and Firestone Indy Lights “Kentucky Indy Lights 100” along with modern rock group Carolina Liar in concert.

Weekend tickets, new infield camping and more Big Deals can be reserved by visiting the tickets pages of http://www.kentuckyspeedway.com, by phone at 888-652-RACE (7223) or through the Kentucky Speedway ticket offices at 400 Buttermilk Pike, Suite 100, in Ft. Mitchell, Ky., or the Sparta, Ky., Fan Center off of Interstate 71 Exit 57 and Ky. Hwy. 35 North. Fans also can reserve tickets at Meijer stores and Tickets.com outlets.

Justin Lofton, who finished second in May on the 1.5-mile track, had another strong run, piloting his No. 6 Lofton Cattle / CGS Imaging Toyota into third at the finish, despite running lap times faster than the race leaders in the closing laps. Rookies Craig Goess and Steve Arpin followed, crossing Lofton across the finish line within the top 10. ESR’s fourth car, wheeled by Tim George Jr., held steady, finishing 23rd in the 100-lap race.

“It builds momentum for the guys. We’re going to take this and build on it. We have some really awesome racetracks coming up for us,” said Lofton, who maintains the second position in the driver point standings.

Behind the wheel of the No. 81 Greenville Toyota of N.C. Toyota, Goess had an up and down night at Kentucky but his perseverance paid off with a career-best finish of fourth.

Goess originally qualified his No. 81 Toyota in the 11th position but trouble under the hood forced his Patrick Donahue-led team to change engines prior to the start of the race, forcing Goess to the rear of the field. Pit strategy early in the event paid off, giving him back the track position that he lost due to the change.

“If that’s what we have to do to keep getting up here and get a win out of it, I’ll start from the back,” an elated Goess said. “The guys did an awesome job. Everybody worked hard on the car. We’re getting it closer. We had a really good car. I’m looking forward to the next race.”

Arpin and the No. 20 Pinewood Sports Toyota team led some laps late in the race and went on to claim their fourth straight top-10 effort as Arpin crossed the stripe in sixth.

“It was a good night. Our guys made a bunch of good changes on the car and kind of flipped the coin going into this one. The car was awesome. We struggled in dirty air but once we got in clean air, the car was really good,” Arpin said.

Seven caution flags waved throughout the event, offering up different pit strategy under the yellow flag conditions. From fuel only to staying out on the track, the majority of the lead lap cars surprisingly played similar cards. But Goess took advantage early, and with less than 30 laps on the board, he was within the top five.

Beyond the halfway mark on lap 63, the caution flag waved yet again following a two-car run-in and one lap later, Lofton followed then-leader and eventual winner Parker Kligerman down pitroad. After the crew swapped out the tires and fueled up his Toyota, Lofton was back on track for a run at the new leader, teammate Arpin, who stayed on track to inherit the lead.

As the laps clicked down and the newer tires showed their advantages, Arpin slipped back to sixth while Goess and Lofton, who had a better car on the longer runs, moved back within the top five.

Team ESR will next hit the track on July 25th at Berlin Raceway for the Wolverine Power Systems 200 presented by Generac.

SPARTA KY (7-18-09) - A classic, epic late-race duel between rookies culminated with a thrilling last-lap, last-corner pass that put 18-year-old ARCA RE/MAX Series dynamo Parker Kligerman back in victory lane.

Kligerman, in the Cunningham Motorsports Dodge, drove underneath Grant Enfinger off turn four coming to the checkered flag to win the Click It or Ticket Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 Saturday night at Kentucky Speedway. The victory marked Kligerman’s fifth win on tour in the last six races, and fourth consecutive for the Westport, Connecticut driver.

“This win means a lot to me and I think it means a lot to my team; especially after what happened to us here in May when we were running up front and ended up spinning,” said Kligerman. “I think the last ten laps was one heck of a race. I didn’t think we could get him [Grant Enfinger] at one point. The last corner of the last lap I went into there with the mentality that it would either be wreckers or checkers and it was checkers so that was pretty good. This is a good roll. Let’s see if we can go for five in a row. That would be a record and I want it. Right now we’re just going out for that championship. Keep reeling off wins and keep reeling off championships.”

Enfinger, working the high-side with Kligerman often underneath, fought off the eventual winner lap after lap over the final 30 circuits before giving up the top-spot in final few hundred yards. Enfinger, in the BeasleyAllen.com Ford, finished a career-best second, five lengths away.

“I knew I would only have one more chance so I backed down a little bit and then I got back into the gas, and it just didn’t stick,” said Enfinger, who led 38 laps overall. “But man that was a great battle there running with Parker Kligerman side-by-side for about the last 15 laps and I need to really thank him for running me clean. We are a very low budget team, just stringing parts and pieces of this car together to try and make it work and a finish like this really means a lot.”

Enfinger and Kligerman traded the lead four times in the last 30 laps during which the two front-runners were either side-by-side or nose-to-tail.

Justin Lofton finished third in the Lofton Cattle-CGS Imaging Toyota; however the Westmorland, California driver still lost more ground to point leader Kligerman in the championship points battle as a result.

Craig Goess, after changing engines right before the race, battled from the tail-end to finish a career-best fourth in the Greenville of North Carolina Toyota.

Brian Ickler also started in the back after changing transmissions following qualifying, and raced through the pack to finish fifth. Ickler also earned his career-first Menards Pole presented by Ansell establishing a new one-lap track record with an average speed of 179.247 mph.

Steve Arpin, who led seven laps, finished sixth in the Pinewood Sports Toyota in front of Joey Coulter, Frank Kimmel, Patrick Sheltra and Tom Hessert to complete the top-10 finishers respectively.

Kligerman led 58 of 100 laps overall, including the first 26 circuits before first-round pit stops, which included Kligerman, reshuffled the running order. Enfinger, who elected to forego first round pit stops, took over the lead before Kligerman raced back through the pack to regain the top-spot. Kligerman led up through lap 62 before giving it up again while the eventual winner made his final pit stop that set up his run to the checkered flag.

The ARCA RE/MAX Series travels next to Berlin Raceway Saturday night, July 25 for the Wolverine Power Systems 200 presented by Generac.

“It builds momentum for the guys. We had a rough June and the start of July. We’re going to take this and build on it. We have some really awesome racetracks coming up for us,” Lofton said.

Following the 100-lap race, which officially marked the halfway spot on the schedule, Lofton maintained the second position in the standings thanks to his ninth top-10 finish of the year, his third straight. Lofton also leads the series with top-fives with eight.

Lofton finished runner-up during the tour’s first stop at Kentucky, making him a clear choice as one of the guys to watch once the cars first hit the 1.5-mile track for practice on Friday. He qualified for the 100-lap race from the fifth position and in a typical display, Lofton held his position up front all race long.

Caution flags unfortunately fell early and often with two yellows waving over the field with less than 10 laps on the board. Seven caution flags dropped throughout the race, forcing the field to a crawl behind the pace car for a devastating 36 laps of the 100-lap race.

The caution flags gave the field the opportunity to gamble on various pit strategies but Lofton’s shot-caller Mark Rette stuck to the game plan and took advantage of a late race yellow in order to give his driver new tires for the final run.

Once the race reached the halfway mark, the usual suspects were up front and following another caution flag on lap 63, Lofton dropped his No. 6 Lofton Cattle / CGS Imaging Toyota down pitroad to the attention of his crew. With fresh Hoosier tires underneath him, Lofton took to the track for the final charge to the checkers.

Parker Kligerman and Grant Enfinger battled for the lead as Lofton chased them down in the closing laps. With a car that ran better on the longer runs, Lofton clicked off faster lap times at the finish but track position and the lack of more laps left him third at the rundown.

Kligerman went on to win the race and now leads Lofton by 150 points in the standings.

“I feel good about next weekend’s race. The guys are pumped, I love short track racing – we have a great short track program and it’s time to get back into victory lane,” Lofton said.

Next weekend Lofton will reunite with primary sponsor Valvoline Instant Oil Change at Berlin Raceway for the Wolverine Power Systems 200 presented by Generac on Saturday, July 25th. In the previous short track races run this season, Lofton has two pole awards and three top fives.

Lofton, driver of the No. 6 Eddie Sharp Racing Toyota also has an impressive compilation of stats at Kentucky.

Last July, Lofton finished 10th in the 150-mile race and earlier this season during the first visit for the ARCA RE/MAX Series on the 1.5-mile track, he narrowly missed a trip to victory lane, finishing second.

“I like Kentucky. It’s a good track with different lanes and plenty of room to pass,” Lofton said. “I put in a few laps here a few weeks ago and I’m ready for this race. It’s time for us to get another win. We’ve been running really well lately and I know another one is right around the corner.”

Prior to heading to Iowa Speedway last week, Lofton was on hand for a test session at Kentucky. The elder statesman at Eddie Sharp Racing, Lofton gave his rookie teammates Tim George Jr. and Craig Goess, Jr. a few pointers around the track as well as putting in a few laps of his own behind the wheel of George’s machine.

“It was a different perspective and I learned a few things for this week’s race,” Lofton said of the test. “Of course, with the Camping World Truck Series running before us, we can’t predict what type of changes that might make to the track itself. But, my crew chief Mark Rette and all of the guys are on top of their game and I’m sure we’ll have another good run there.”

The California native Lofton enters the 100-lap race at Kentucky, which marks the halfway mark of the ARCA schedule, with eight top-10 finishes, with four of them being runner-up showings, in addition to a win at Talladega Superspeedway. He also has five pole awards in just his second season of competition.

The Click It or Ticket Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 is set for Saturday, July 18th and can be seen on SPEED at 9:30 PM EST.

With just 11 events of the 21-race schedule complete, George Jr. will now make his second start on many of the racetracks as the tour runs its second half, revisiting some of the stops previously visited in the first portion of the year.

In May, during George Jr.’s first visit to the 1.5-mile track, he had a solid run in the Ruby Tuesday/Chrome Hearts/Metromint Toyota, finishing a solid 14th.

Tim George, Jr.

“This is the first time I will be back at a track I have raced on in my ARCA racing career. I’m looking forward to having some familiarity with how the track will change during the race and the line itself,” George Jr. said.

In preparing for the event, George Jr. and his No. 2 Eddie Sharp Racing crew recently visited Kentucky for a test session along with teammates Craig Goess, Jr. and Justin Lofton. Though the test session was fruitful, the changing track temperatures, in addition to the Goodyear tire rubber, in contract to ARCA’s Hoosiers, that might be laid down on the racing surface leaves a question mark entering the race weekend.

“The temperature should be higher and there will be a lot of different rubber from the Camping World Truck Series (which runs prior to the ARCA race),” George Jr. added. “We have all been working hard at the shop to get me a lot more comfortable in the car, so hopefully it pays off.”

George Jr. currently sits ninth in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings and so far, has tallied five top-15 finishes.

The Fairhope driver will return to the track on Saturday night at Kentucky Speedway in the ARCA RE/MAX Series Click It or Ticket Buckle Up Kentucky 150.

The race will be the third of four ARCA events that Enfinger plans to run this season. Under the banner of Grant Enfinger Racing, the 24-year-old driver has pooled his finances for an all-eggs-in-one-basket schedule. His goal: Get the attention of a car owner who can keep him moving up the racing ladder.

Enfinger’s most recent ARCA outing came at Talladega Superspeedway on April 24, where he turned heads with a third-place finish.

(July 15, 2009) – Kimmel Racing returns to Kentucky Speedway with high expectations for success during this weekend’s Click It or Ticket Buckle-Up Kentucky 150.

“We look to be more competitive this weekend at Kentucky than we were there in the spring when we finished fifth,” said Frank Kimmel, driver of the No. 44 Ansell/Menards Ford Fusion. “We got pretty close at Iowa where we could actually race with the top three or four cars and that’s what we need to keep improving on as an organization. This weekend, however, we expect to be there battling hard and ideally we’ll lead our first laps of the season and contend for the win.”

Heading into the weekend, the team has two main factors in their favor – a top-five run in the first race of the season at Kentucky Speedway and a solid test at the track last week.

“What we learned at the test will definitely help us this weekend,” explained Crew Chief Bill Kimmel Jr.

The team worked on getting the car handling through the center of the corner, a handling characteristic Kimmel Jr.’ says they have fought all year.

“We got the car turning really good in the center of the corner,” added Bill Kimmel Jr. “Kentucky has been a great racetrack for Frank and we’ve got momentum in our favor so hopefully we can get that win we’ve been looking for, or at least be in the mix for it, until the end.”

As a veteran of the series, Kimmel expects this race to be one of the fastest races run in the series in many years.

“Kentucky has really gotten so fast, for whatever reason, and we have so much more grip,” explained the nine-time ARCA RE/MAX Series Champion. “The cars are getting better and we have more power so I expect this race on Saturday to be really fast. If it’s an overcast day for qualifying, I don’t doubt that someone could run in the 29 second bracket, which is pretty much flying around Kentucky.”

Kimmel Racing will unload one of their favorite chassis for this weekend’s event, “The Biff”. This is the same car Kimmel raced to a seventh place finish last week at Iowa Speedway.

“I think after testing “The Biff” at Kentucky, then bringing it to Iowa and now bringing it back to Kentucky is a definite plus for us,” reasoned Crew Chief Bill Kimmel Jr. “First off, Frank is comfortable with it. Secondly, our lap speeds at Iowa were better than they were last year and the lap speeds at the Kentucky test were better than they were in the past. We’re definitely making small steps in the right direction.”

“But we still need to take a few more steps in that direction towards finding speed throughout the race. On long runs we really catch the leaders but we need to be better from the drop of the green flag if we want to win races this year.”

Saturday night’s Click It or Ticket Buckle-Up Kentucky 150, which follows the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, will air live on SPEED Channel beginning at 9:30 p.m. Eastern. In addition, ARCAracing.com will feature live timing and scoring and live audio streams of all the on-track activity at Kentucky Speedway.
