Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series Race Notes

RCR’s NASCAR Nationwide Series History at Nashville … In 36 previous NNS appearances at Nashville Superspeedway, RCR has acquired three wins, 16 top-five and 21 top-ten finishes, along with two pole awards.

Three Times the Charm … Three drivers have taken RCR to Victory Lane at Nashville Superspeedway — Scott Wimmer in March 2008, Kevin Harvick in April 2006 and Clint Bowyer in June 2005.

Averages … RCR boasts an average start position of 10.6 and an average finish position of 10.8 among all NNS races the organization has contested at Nashville. RCR drivers have completed 95.2 percent of the laps attempted at the track (7,708 of 8,100 laps), with 753 laps led.

Catch the Action … Flag-to-flag coverage of the Federated Auto Parts 300 will be televised live on Saturday, June 5, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on ESPN2 and on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius XM Satellite Radio beginning at 7 p.m. EDT.

Scott Riggs

No. 21 Zaxby’s Chevrolet

Race Notes and Quotes

This Week’s Zaxby’s Chevrolet at Nashville … Scott Riggs will pilot chassis No. 076 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable in this weekend’s Federated Auto Parts 300. This is the same chassis that John Wes Townley drove to an 18th-place finish in April at Nashville. In March 2009, Clint Bowyer started seventh and finished third with this chassis at Bristol Motor Speedway. Bowyer also posted a seventh-place finish in this car at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., in September 2008.

In the Driver’s Seat … Nashville marks the first of two scheduled races in which Riggs will drive the No. 21 Zaxby’s Chevrolet for RCR. John Wes Townley drove the Zaxby’s Chevrolet in the first five NNS races of 2010 and Clint Bowyer has driven the yellow, red and blue machine seven times so far this season.

Former Winner … Riggs earned a Nashville Superspeedway victory as a rookie in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in April 2002 and earned a second Nashville Victory in June 2003. In addition to his two NNS wins, Riggs earned a victory in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Nashville in August 2001.

Meet the Driver … Riggs will participate in a NNS autograph session designed to raise funds for Nashville flood victims on Saturday, June 5, from 1-2 p.m. local time at the Nationwide mobile display on the midway outside of Nashville Superspeedway.

SCOTT RIGGS QUOTES:

You’ve had a lot of success at Nashville in the past. What’s your secret?

“Since Nashville is a concrete track with a lot of grip, it’s important to have a car that can get through the center of the corners. It’s very easy to over-drive the corner so you have to be careful. It’s going to be good to go to Nashville with RCR’s equipment because I feel like I have a shot at getting another guitar.”

What makes Nashville such a unique track on the NNS schedule?

“It’s really the only track over a mile in length that is concrete, so that makes it sort of unique in itself. It’s a unique city, too, especially with all of the country music entertainment downtown. The fans are always great at Nashville and I love the support we get from the fans there. Of course, given everything that the people of Nashville have been through this year, all of our thoughts and prayers are with the city’s flood victims and what they are going through.”

CREW CHIEF DAN DEERINGHOFF QUOTES:

What does it take to win in the NASCAR Nationwide Series?

“You almost have to have a perfect race to win in the NASCAR Nationwide Series these days. And, realistically, there are about five teams who run a perfect race on any given weekend, so you have to run a perfect race just to be in contention for a top-five finish. And then, once you have a perfect race, it takes just that little bit of luck maybe to put you over the top, and put you in Victory Circle. It’s incredibly competitive.”

No. 21 Zaxby’s Chevrolet

Race Notes and Quotes

This Week’s Zaxby’s Chevrolet at Richmond … Clint Bowyer will drive Chassis No. 058 in this weekend’s Bubba Burger 250 at Richmond International Raceway. This Chevrolet will make its first on-track appearance this weekend since undergoing a complete rebuild by the No. 21 Zaxby’s team over the winter. In it’s last on-track appearance, Stephen Leicht finished ninth at Memphis in this car in 2009.

In 2008, Clint Bowyer drove this Chevrolet to an 18th-place finish at O’Reilly Raceway Park and a third-place finish at the Milwaukee Mile. In 2007, Tim McCreadie raced this Chevy at Milwaukee, ORP, Richmond and Memphis, finishing 28th, 12th, 32nd and 16th, respectively, while Timothy Peters drove it to a 13th-place finish at Phoenix. In 2006, Kevin Harvick was four for five with this chassis, earning victories at Martinsville Speedway, ORP, Richmond and Memphis before finishing second at Phoenix.

By the Numbers … In nine previous NNS starts at Richmond, Bowyer boasts an average start position of 5.9 and an average finish position of 13.4. He has led 291 laps at the .75-mile short track, or 12.9 percent of the laps he has attempted.

Former Winner … Bowyer earned a win at Richmond in May 2007. In his last NNS appearance at the track, he finished 11th in September 2009 after starting fourth.

Hometown Proud … PJ Bryant, shock specialist for the No. 21 Zaxby’s Chevrolet team, is a native of Dale City, Virginia, which is located about 85 miles north of Richmond. Bryant, a long-time employee of RCR, worked on Bowyer’s 2008 NNS championship team under the leadership of crew chief Dan Deeringhoff.

CLINT BOWYER QUOTES:

You’ve won a Nationwide Race and a Cup race at Richmond. What is the key to winning at this short track?

“Usually, the guy who wins has a clean car and all four fenders are on the car at the end of the race. Aerodynamics is crucial, which surprises people when you talk about Richmond, but I know firsthand how important they are there. I ripped my right-front fender off during the Nationwide race a couple years ago that everyone thought we had wrapped up. It wasn’t so much the case after that.”

Does night racing add extra excitement to NASCAR Nationwide Series races?

“I like night racing because it reminds me of the type of racing I did growing up. I think night racing reminds most drivers of their racing roots. I love going to Richmond because the track has several grooves and races well. It’s usually a great show for the fans.”

Series: Nationwide Series

John Wes Townley, No. 21 Zaxby’s Chevrolet Impala

Race Notes and Quotes:

· This Week’s Zaxby’s Chevrolet at Nashville Superspeedway … John Wes Townley will pilot chassis No. 076 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable in this weekend’s Nashville 300. In March 2009, Clint Bowyer started seventh and finished third with this chassis at Bristol Motor Speedway. Bowyer also posted a seventh-place finish in this car at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., in September 2008.

· Nashville Details … ownley has four previous starts at Nashville Superspeedway — two in the NNS, one in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and one in the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards, producing a career-best Nashville Superspeedway finish of 18th in the Nationwide Series event last April.

· Dash 4 Cash … Townley will earn a $25,000 cash bonus award if he wins the Nashville 300 this weekend as part of Nationwide Insurance’s Dash 4 Cash bonus program, which is designed to support NNS regulars, up-and-comers and those who compete part-time in the series. In addition to Nashville, Nationwide Insurance will offer a $25,000 cash bonus to eligible race winners at Kentucky Motor Speedway (June 12), Iowa Speedway (July 31) and Texas Motor Speedway (November 6), with a $75,000 year-end bonus awarded at the end of the season to the NNS only driver with the highest cumulative points from the four-race series.

· Double Duty … In between the Bristol and Nashville NNS races, John Wes Townley traveled to Talladega Superspeedway to participate in an ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards test session, where he was second-fastest among 27 drivers participating in the two-day test. Townley will race in the ARCA event at Talladega on Friday, April 24 to prepare for the next day Aaron’s 312 NNS race there.

· Meet the Driver … Townley will meet race fans during a NNS driver autograph session at the Expo area near Gate 3 at Nashville Superspeedway from 1-2 p.m. on Friday, April 2.

John Wes Townley

Talk about going back to Nashville and other tracks on the schedule where you have previous experience.</stron

“We learned a lot last year. I’m really looking forward to getting back to some of the tracks on the schedule because we have gained so much experience since last year and I really think we will be able to apply that experience. We ended up in the top 20 in my first Nashville race in 2009 and I’m confident we can better that. We’re just going to apply everything we learned last year.”

Will the Dash 4 Cash affect the competition at Nashville this weekend?

“The chance at earning a cash bonus will make everyone more aggressive and that is good for both the drivers and the fans. Plus, Nationwide has increased the payouts for this year so I think that will make the racing even better.”

How do you like Nashville Superspeedway?

“It’s a lot of fun. It can be a little tricky, at times, off turn two but you really have some room off turn four to let the car in deep. It’s a great track to race on. There is a lot of room to move around and that’s what it’s all about.”

Was Nashville a place that you took to quickly or did it take you a while to figure it out as a rookie?

“It took about 15 minutes to really get the hang of it but a lot of things you don’t really realize until you get racing, such as the line you run on the track. I typically pick that up fairly well. The race gets started and you end up learning things about a particular track that can end up biting you — such as how to react on a restart and whether it is better to start on the outside or on the inside. Simple things like that you just kind of learn as you go.”

Are you a country music fan?

“I do like some country music. I like more classic country music, though, such as Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. Walk the Line was a great movie and it was a nice portrayal of Johnny Cash, too. A lot of those old guys are fun to listen to. Growing up, my granddad liked a lot of the older stuff and my dad liked a lot of the newer stuff. I do like a few of the newer country songs out there today but really any of the older songs — not just country but classic rock and roll, too — are really fun to listen to.”

Richard Childress Racing

NASCAR Nationwide Series Race Notes:

· RCR’s NASCAR Nationwide Series History at Nashville … In 35 previous appearances to Nashville Superspeedway, three drivers have taken Richard Childress Racing to Victory Lane at Nashville, including Clint Bowyer in 2005, Kevin Harvick in 2006 and Scott Wimmer in 2008. RCR has 16 top-five finishes, 20 top-10s and two poles at the track.

· Experienced Crew Chief … Dan Deeringhoff, crew chief of the No. 21 Zaxby’s Chevrolet, has eight Nashville starts calling the shots on top of the pit box for RCR’s NNS program, finishing second four times.

· Catch the Action … Flag-to-flag coverage of the Nashville 300 will be televised live on Saturday, April 3, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on ESPN. The race will also be broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius XM Satellite Radio.

John Wes Townley, No. 21 Zaxby’s Chevrolet Impala

Race Notes and Quotes:

· This Weekend’s Zaxby’s Chevrolet Impala at Auto Club Speedway … John Wes Townley will pilot Chassis No. 066 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable. Last season, Clint Bowyer drove this former No. 29 racer to Victory Lane at Dover International Speedway last September, while Jeff Burton finished third in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway and Casey Mears finished second at Texas Motor Speedway in November.

Stephen Leicht also raced this Impala five times in 2009, finishing sixth and 11th in both Nashville Superspeedway events, eighth at The Milwaukee Mile, sixth at Gateway International Raceway and 10th at Iowa Speedway. In 2008, Bowyer drove this Chevy to a ninth-place finish at Kentucky Speedway and a seventh-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway, while Stephen Leicht drove it to an 18th-place finish at Texas in October.

· Fontana Stats … In two NNS start at ACS, Townley boasts an 18.5 average start and a 19.5 average finish. The last time NASCAR’s junior circuit visited the two-mile Southern California race track, Townley finished 17th, his second-best career finish in NNS competition.

· Finishing Strong … The Watkinsville, Ga., native has completed all but two laps contested (99.3 percent) at Fontana and has never finished outside the top 25.

· Rearview Mirror … Townley and the Dan Deeringhoff-led team started fifth and finished 23rd in the season opener last weekend at Daytona International Speedway. Townley was a mainstay in the top 15 in the beginning of the 300-mile event, but fell two laps down after a pit road violation and involvement in a multi-car accident.

John Wes Townley - Photo Credit: Sam Greenwood/Getty Images for NASCAR

JOHN WES TOWNLEY QUOTES:

Do you enjoy coming to California and racing on this style of race track?

“The layout of the track is very similar to Michigan with the exception that it’s not banked quite as much. Although, it’s not quite as fast. You can’t roll as much corner speed, but California is a lot of fun. You can run multiple lines on the track. I’m excited about this race, especially going into it this year. I know we have great equipment, a great team and great experience to apply there, so I’m real excited about it.”

What is the corner speed like going into turn one, especially if you are on fresh tires or on a qualifying run?

“Oh, it’s quite exhilarating. The one that I’ve learned about this particular track is that you actually have to make yourself stay off of the wall. You don’t really look into the corner for the apex until you actually have to look at the wall and make sure you stay off of the wall. If you’re not careful, it’s real easy to turn off early into that corner because the apex is actually further around the corner than you think it is. You have to make yourself stay off of the wall while being wide open, and that’s very exhilarating and a lot of fun.”

Clint Bowyer’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Performance History at Phoenix International Raceway

Notes:

· This Weekend’s Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express Chevrolet Impala SS at Phoenix International Raceway … Clint Bowyer will pilot Chassis No. 081 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable in this weekend’s Able Body Labor 200. This is a brand new Chevrolet Impala SS that will be put through its first paces when it hits the track this weekend.

· Statistically Speaking …

o Bowyer Overall … In eight NNS starts at Phoenix, the reigning series champion has earned one win (April 2007), and one pole (November 2007) to go along with five top-five and six top-10 finishes. In addition, Bowyer is tied with Brendan Gaughan for the best average finish (seventh) among drivers entered for this weekend’s 200-mile event.

o Rankings … Bowyer is one of 11 drivers to earn a victory at Phoenix. He is fourth all-time in top-fives finishes (five), fifth all-time in laps led (214) and is tied for fifth all-time in top-10 finishes with Ron Hornaday Jr. and Kyle Busch (six) at the one-mile Avondale facility.

o Bowyer’s 2009 NNS Recap … In 11 NNS starts this season, the eight-time NNS winner has earned two wins, one pole and five top-three finishes. He boasts an 11.3 average start, a 9.9 average finish and has completed 2,095 of the 2,098 laps contested (99.9 percent).

o RCR at Phoenix … In 32 NNS starts at PIR, RCR-prepared Chevrolets have two wins (Kevin Harvick – April 2006 and Bowyer – April 2007), 15 top-five and 18 top-10 finishes. The Welcome, N.C.,-based organization boasts a 13.8 average start and a 12.4 average finish. Additionally, RCR has led 406 laps and has completed 6,297 of 6,413 (98.2 percent) laps contested.

· Rearview Mirror … Last weekend, Casey Mears, subbing for Jeff Burton, finished second in the O’Reilly Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway. The strong performance advanced the No. 29 team one spot, to fifth, in the NNS owners’ point standings. With two races remaining, the RCR team is 74 markers in arrears of Kevin Harvick Inc.’s No. 33 entry in fourth and 41 points forward Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 20 entry in sixth.

· Holiday Inn Racing’s Last 19 … The No. 29 Holiday Inn Chevrolet has finished in the top 15 in 18 of the last 19 NNS races. During that span, Bowyer, Burton, Stephen Leicht and Mears have combined to earn two wins, four top-five and 14 top-10 finishes. Their only showing outside the top 15 came after Bowyer’s left front tire was cut down while running third on a late-race restart at Auto Club Speedway, resulting in a 29th-place finish.

· Double Down in the Desert … In addition to his NNS duties, Bowyer will pilot the No. 33 Cheerios/Hamburger Helper Chevrolet in Sunday’s Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 presented by Pennzoil. The 35th points-paying race on the Sprint Cup Series schedule will be televised live on ABC beginning at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The race will also be broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius XM Satellite Radio.

What makes Phoenix so racy?

“It’s just the right size. Aero is definitely a big part of it, but not as much as getting into the corner at 200 mph at a track like Texas. You have to have car turning good in the center of the corner, but then again, you have to drive the wheels off it, too. Another thing I like about Phoenix, and race tracks that are like it, are the difference between the corners. Turns 1 and 2 are tight and Turns 3 and 4 are long and sweeping. You’re not going to find a perfect setup and go out there and wax everybody. You have to carry the car in one corner to be good in the other. As a driver, you have to find a happy medium there, which allows you to have a little more control over your destiny.”

You’ve had strong runs in your last five races at Phoenix. Is this a track you made sure was on your limited schedule in the Nationwide Series this season?

“I knew I wanted to run there at least once this season. Phoenix seems to fit my driving style well and I think that’s what adds to my success there. Everyone at the shop circled this race and we’re bringing a new Chevrolet with us this weekend. The guys have worked hard over the last three months preparing this car and I’m excited to get out there and race it for the first time.”

Dan Deeringhoff Quote:

You’ve had success at Phoenix in the past with Clint. What can you attribute that success to and what are the challenges you might face this time around?

“Clint knows how to get around Phoenix and the cars we’ve built for this track in the past always seem to run well there. This weekend, we need to get the car to turn well enough through the corners so that three will be enough bit as Clint exits the turns. Because phoenix is an odd-shaped track, more often that not, you have to give up on Turn 1 in order to perform better in Turns 3 and 4. The setup we won with was balanced enough through both ends of the track and we really didn’t five up too much. This new chassis we’ve built should be no different. Hopefully, we nail the set up, like we did back in 2007, and have another strong run.”

· This Weekend’s Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express Chevrolet Impala SS at Texas Motor Speedway … Jeff Burton will pilot Chassis No. 066 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable in this weekend’s O’Reilly Challenge. Clint Bowyer drove this No. 29 Chevrolet to Victory Lane at Dover International Speedway in September. Stephen Leicht also raced this Impala SS five times this season, finishing sixth and 11th in both Nashville Superspeedway events, eighth at The Milwaukee Mile, sixth at Gateway International Raceway and 10th at Iowa Speedway.
· Rearview Mirror … Two weeks ago, Leicht finished ninth after being involved three separate accidents in the Kroger on Track for the Cure 250 at Memphis Motorsports Park The comeback performance allowed the No. 29 team to remain sixth in the NNS owners’ point standings, 38 markers in arrears of the No. 20 entry in fifth and 196 points forward the No. 38 entry in seventh.

· Texas Two Step … In addition to his NNS duties, Burton will pilot the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet in Sunday’s Dickies 500.
· Last Time Around … Burton led a total of 16 laps en route to an eight-place finish the last time NASCAR’s junior division visited Texas in April. The 27-time NNS winner was a mainstay in the top 10 for most of the race before fading to 11th following the event’s final yellow flag on lap 189.
· Take a Spin … When attending NASCAR races, you get to watch some great driving on the track, but Chevrolet thinks consumers should get to feel the need for speed, too!
You have 12 top-10 finishes in 12 starts, no wins, but you have never had a bad run at Texas Motor Speedway.

“We’ve always run well there and a few times, I thought we might have a shot to win. We were in good shape and one thing happened or another, but our Nationwide Series program at RCR has been incredibly good there. This past year, we didn’t have a year we wanted to have, but we are continuing to work really hard. We’re going to Texas this time with a whole other approach and something completely different than in years past. I’m really excited for that. The Holiday Inn Racing team has worked hard, trying some different stuff, and this will be the first opportunity we have to try and race it.”

You participated in the NASCAR Nationwide Series new car test on Monday at Talladega. How did the session go for the RCR team?

“It went well. Every test we’ve done with the new Chevrolet Impala has gone well and this test was no different. On Monday, we did a few single-car runs before drafting. We learned a lot about the aerodynamics and what areas we need to improve on with these cars to make racing in the Nationwide Series better. It’s a working process, but the test was positive all around.”

DAN DEERINGHOFF (Crew Chief) Quote:

What are the keys to getting around Texas?

”Texas is a track where speed is more important than handling. You have to have a good handling race car there, but the speed comes first. Other tracks we race at, a car can be faster when it handles well in and off the corners. At Texas, the Nationwide Series cars carry at ton of speed when entering the corners. This track is similar to California in that respect. Once in the corners, drivers can find the groove where their car handles the best in order to be fast.”

Austin Dillon

No. 3 Realtree Outfitters Chevrolet Silverado

Event Preview Fact Sheet

Event: Mountain Dew 250 powered by Fred’s – October 31, 2009

Venue: Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway

· This Weekend’s Realtree Outfitters Chevrolet Silverado at Talladega Superspeedway … Austin Dillon will pilot Chassis No. 019 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Camping World Truck Series stable in this weekend’s Mountain Dew 250 powered by Fred’s. This Chevrolet was purchased from Kevin Harvick, Inc. earlier this season. In 2008, KHI’s Ron Hornaday drove this former No. 33 Silverado at Daytona International Speedway. He started fifth and was running second when the o-ring on the oil pump broke, resulting in a 25th-place finish. Since then, this chassis was used as a back-up race truck.

· First Timer … The Lewisville, N.C., native will not only make his restrictor plate debut when he takes the green flag for Saturday’s 150-mile race at Talladega, he will also become the first driver to start a restrictor-plate Truck Series race for RCR. Childress ended his truck series program in 1999 to purse racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, one year before the inaugural NCWTS restrictor-plate race occurred at Daytona International Speedway in February 2000.

· Dillon’s Third Truck Race … In two previous truck series starts, Dillon has earned 12th- and 15th-place finishes at Iowa Speedway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway, respectively. He boasts a 6.5 average start and has completed 399 of 400 laps contested.

· Family Values … Dillon is a third-generation NASCAR driver. His grandfather, Richard Childress, made 285 Sprint Cup Series starts between 1969 and 1981, earning six top-five and 76 top-10 finishes. Austin’s father, Mike Dillon, drove from 1995 to 2001 in each of NASCAR’s top-three series, including three starts in the NCWTS from 1997 to 1998.

· Back to Where it All Started … Dillon’s grandfather, Richard Childress made his debut at Talladega in 1969. Forty years later, his Welcome, N.C.,-based organization has earned 12 championships among NASCAR’s top-three series, seven in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (Dale Earnhardt – 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993 and 1994), five in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (Kevin Harvick – 2001, Harvick and Johnny Sauter – 2003, Harvick – 2006, Jeff Burton and Scott Wimmer – 2007, and Clint Bowyer – 2008) and one in the NCWTS (Mike Skinner- 1995). Childress is the first owner to win championships in all three divisions.

· Multitasking … While pursuing his racing career, the 19-year-old Dillon is currently enrolled as a freshman at High Point University, where he is studying at the Nido R. Quebin School of Communications. Earlier this season, the university sponsored Dillon in a NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Iowa Speedway.

· Dillon Familiar with the No. 3 … Over the past two seasons, Dillon has raced the No. 3 Chevrolet in 15 NASCAR Camping World Series East starts, earning one win, seven top-five and 12 top-10 finishes. Additionally, Dillon has driven Team Dillon Racing’s No. 3 Asphalt and Dirt Late Models since 2005.

· History of the No. 3 Truck … The 19-year-old driver is the third driver to compete in RCR’s No. 3 entry, joining Mike Skinner, who drove the GM Goodwrench-sponsored entry from 1995 to 1996, and Jay Sauter, who took the reigns in 1997 and drove the No. 3 truck until 1999.

· RCR’s Truck History … This weekend marks the 132nd start by an RCR entry in a NCWTS event. In all, RCR-prepared trucks have earned 20 wins, including the series’ inaugural race in 1995 with Skinner at Phoenix International Speedway. Along with Skinner, drivers including Mike Dillon, Bill Cooper, Dave Marcis, Jay Sauter and Jim Sauter have recorded 59 top-five and 85 top-10 finishes for the organization. Skinner captured the inaugural NCWTS championship title for RCR in 1995.

· And Now a Word from Our Sponsor … Columbus, Ga.,-based Realtree® introduced the Realtree Outfitters® collection this past fall. This collection offers a broad range of trendy casual apparel and headwear for outdoor enthusiasts. This collection is being sold through a wide range of distribution channels, including outdoor retailers, sporting goods stores and department stores.

· RCR and Realtree® … RCR and Realtree® have a long-standing relationship. Realtree® president Bill Jordan and RCR president and CEO Richard Childress have been personal friends for decades and Team Realtree® first sponsored the legendary Dale Earnhardt and RCR’s No. 3 GM Goodwrench team in 1997. Last season, team Realtree® sponsored Austin’s brother, Ty Dillon, in the Fastrak Racing Series Dirt Late Model Touring Division.
AUSTIN DILLON QUOTES:

What does it mean to be racing at Talladega?

“I’m really excited about this weekend. It is going to be one of the biggest thrills I’ve experienced, so far, in my career. I’ll be in the No. 3 truck and that number means a lot to the great fans that show up to Talladega each year. I’m also excited to get the chance to run where my grandfather started his entire racing career 40 years ago which, in itself, is something special for my entire family to be a part of together.”

What are your goals this weekend?

“Talladega is a big intimidating track, but we’re looking to go out there and be aggressive in single car runs during practice. We’re not sure how much drafting we’ll be doing because we don’t have a back-up Realtree Outfitters Chevrolet with us. We want to show off the Earnhardt-Childress Engines for sure and start towards the front. Once the race begins, I’m going to learn all I can about drafting, but at the same time, I want to be competitive.”

DAN DEERINGHOFF (Crew Chief) Quote:

What are your goals this weekend?

“Talladega is a place where you have to have a car that goes fast. You don’t worry too much about handling because the track is so smooth. With it being Austin’s first time on a superspeedway, we’re going to use a lot of the time during practice to get him settled into the track and have him ride around alone. If we draft, it won’t be for too long, because the last thing we want to do it get caught in someone else’s mistake before we even get to take the green flag. Our first goal is to make it to the end of the race and, if we have a competitive car, finish strong.”

This Chevrolet Silverado was purchased from Kevin Harvick Inc. earlier this season. Last year, this former No. 2 KHI entry ran in five NCTWS races, earning one pole, two top-10 and four top-20 finishes. This chassis currently holds the Martinsville Speedway track qualifying record, set by Jack Sprague with a fast lap of 19.65 seconds last March.

· Truck Series Debut … Dillon will attempt to qualify for his first-career NCWTS start. He’ll be piloting the No. 3 RCR 40th Anniversary Chevrolet at Iowa Speedway, commemorating the Welcome, N.C., -based organization’s 40th year of NASCAR racing.

· ‘3’ Elements

o History of the No. 3 Truck … The 19-year-old driver will become the third driver to compete in RCR’s No. 3 entry, joining Mike Skinner, who drove the GM Goodwrench-sponsored entry from1995 to 1996, and Jay Sauter, who took the reigns in 1997 and drove the No. 3 truck until Childress ended his involvement in the series in 1999 to pursue racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

o Family Values … Austin Dillon is a third-generation NASCAR driver. His grandfather, Richard Childress, made 285 Sprint Cup Series starts between 1969 and 1981, earning six top-five and 76 top-10 finishes.
o Last Time Around … Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was the last person to drive the No. 3 in one of NASCAR’s top-three divisions, running two Nationwide Series races for RCR in 2002. That year, Earnhardt won the NNS season opener at Daytona International Speedway in February and finished 36th, after being involved in a mid-race accident, in May at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

· All Over It in Iowa … The 2008 NCWSE Rookie of the Year has competed at Iowa on four different occasions. In 2008, Dillon captured the pole position and finished sixth in the Camping World Series East/West Challenge. This past May, he finished 19th in the NCWS East/West Challenge after starting seventh. In July, Dillon drove RCR’s No. 31 ARCA RE/MAX Series entry to a runner-up finish after starting from the rear of the field. Most recently, he finished 28th after being involved in a mid-race accident during the NNS race in August. All told, the 19-year-old driver has earned one pole, one-top five and two top-10 finishes at the seven-eighths-mile oval.

· RCR’s 130th Career Truck Series Start … In 129 previous NCWTS starts, RCR-prepared trucks have earned 20 wins, including the inaugural race with Skinner at Phoenix International Raceway in 1995. Along with Skinner, drivers including Mike Dillon, Bill Cooper, Dave Marcis, Jay Sauter and Jim Sauter have recorded 59 top-five and 85 top-10 finishes for the inaugural 1995 NCWTS championship organization.

· Local Bass Pro Shops on Board … The Altoona, Iowa Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, located approximately 26 miles west of Iowa Speedway, will be an associate sponsor on RCR’s No. 3 Silverado.
AUSTIN DILLON Quotes:

What is it like for you to race the No. 3 in this weekend’s Truck Series race?

“This will be a special weekend for my family. Being able to drive the No. 3 is really amazing. This number carries a lot of history with it and I know how much it means to my grandfather and all the NASCAR fans. I’m hoping to go out there and perform well.”

You’re making your Truck Series debut at Iowa, but it’s not your first time there. What are your goals for the weekend?

“I couldn’t have picked a better race track to make my truck debut than Iowa. I feel confident heading back and enjoy racing there. The fans pack that place and the atmosphere there is electric. We think we can be competitive once I get a feel for how the truck handles during practice. Our goals are to learn as much as we can during the race, earn a solid finish and, more importantly, have fun.”

DAN DEERINGHOFF (crew chief) Quote:

What are you plans heading into this weekend at Iowa?

“There is a lot of practice time on Friday, which will give Austin the chance to learn how the truck handles at Iowa. We tested at Rockingham last week in order to get Austin seat time in the truck before we unloaded it for race weekend. The test went well and he’s starting to get a feel for how to drive it. There are multiple practice sessions on Friday, which will give Austin more time to become comfortable with the truck. Our goal for the race is to be consistent on the speed charts and have a solid top-20 finish.”

AUSTIN DILLON Quote:

“I’m excited to be heading to Michigan for the second time. I learned a lot in my first race there and hope to apply some of the things I’ve learned during that race to our No. 2 Chevrolet this weekend. Everyone on our team has done a great job this year, especially guiding me along the Nationwide Series learning curve. I’m beginning to understand the bigger engine size and heavier stock cars in the series. Hopefully, we can carry over some of the momentum we’ve had in our other racing effort to our Nationwide program this weekend. “

DAN DEERINGHOFF (Crew Chief) Quote:

“Austin did a great job the first time we came here and that definitely builds up our confidence. The biggest challenge we’re going to face at Michigan is getting our Chevy to roll through the centers well in order to get back to the throttle quickly. The competition is going to be stronger because of the number of Cup drivers taking part in the Nationwide race at Michigan, but we are confident we can leave there with a top-20 finish.”

AUSTIN DILLON Quotes:

You’ve raced twice at Iowa already this season. Does that give you an extra boost of confidence heading into this weekend?

“It definitely does. We raced in the ARCA Series and in the (Camping World Series) East races to learn how the tires wear there and how the car handles over a long green-flag run. Our team learned a few things that we can apply to Thursday’s practice session, which is like another test for us, in order to get our No. 2 High Point University Chevy where it needs to be for the race.”

You’re starting classes at High Point University in a few weeks as a freshman. What is it like to carry your school’s colors at Iowa?

“It’s really cool to be able to carry the colors of High Point University. I’m not necessarily a typical ‘student-athlete,’ but it’s an honor to show off my Panther pride this way. I can’t wait to head to college in four weeks to start classes. Everyone has been supportive of our efforts in preparing for this weekend and I hope we can have a solid run.”

DAN DEERINGHOFF (crew chief) Quote:

What are you plans heading into this weekend at Iowa?

“Thursday will be a day where we do testing not only Iowa, but for other tracks as well. On Friday, we’ll focus on getting the car to roll through the middle of corners. Knowing that we’ve raced here three times already gives us a confidence boost. Hopefully, we can fine tune the car well enough to have a solid top-15 run, if not better, for everyone at High Point University and RCR.”

· This weekend’s Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Impala SS at O’Reilly Raceway Park … Austin Dillon will pilot Chassis No. 065 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable in this weekend’s Kroger 200. This chassis is the same No. 2 Chevrolet that he drove at Phoenix International Raceway in April when a broken suspension part relegated him to a 34th-place finish. In 2007, Scott Wimmer drove this former No. 29 Monte Carlo SS to Nashville Superspeedway’s Winner Circle in March, a sixth-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway in August, a fourth-place finish at Dover International Speedway in September and a 13th-place effort at Texas Motor Speedway in November. Since then, this chassis was rebuilt over the winter to meet 2009 Chevrolet Impala SS specifications.

AUSTIN DILLON Quote:

“I’m looking forward to this weekend’s race at O’Reilly Raceway Park. It’s the first time I’m racing there, but I’ve been able to learn a lot about the track from my RCR teammates. Dan Deeringhoff (my crew chief) has also been helpful in teaching me where the braking points are and how to handle the tight corners. It seems like a fun race track and we’ll have the No. 29 RCR team’s help for information to improve our car’s handling. I’m pumped to getting back into this No. 2 Chevy and hope for solid run.”

DAN DEERINGHOFF Quote:

“Our initial focus will be getting Austin comfortable with the track. Then, we’ll start preparing him for the race. I think we can have a solid run, but our main objective is to get Austin used to driving these Nationwide Series cars there. He’s done a good job so far in other competitive racing series and I’m excited to see how he runs on the Nationwide front.”

ARCA RE/MAX Series Event Preview

Event: Prairie Meadows 200 – July 11, 2009

Venue: Iowa Speedway – Newton, Iowa

This weekend’s RCR Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS at Michigan International Speedway … Austin Dillon will pilot Chassis No. 167 in this weekend’s Prairie Meadows 200. This chassis is a former No. 29 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racer that has been updated to fit 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series specifications.

Fourth ARCA Start … Dillon will make his fourth career RE/MAX Series start at Iowa this weekend. Most recently, the Lewisville, N.C., native finished second in June’s Racing for Wildlife 200 at Michigan International Raceway after starting 36th as rain cancelled qualifying and the field was set by the ARCA Series rulebook.

Collective RE/MAX Stats … In three career ARCA RE/MAX Series starts, Dillon has finished seventh (May 2008 – Rockingham Speedway), 15th (May 2009 – Kentucky Speedway), and second (June 2009 – Michigan). The 19-year-old driver boasts a 5.7 finishing average and has completed all laps contested (511) in those starts.

Third Time’s a Charm … The 2008 NASCAR Camping World Series East Rookie of the Year will make his third career start at Iowa Speedway. In his two previous starts (which occurred in the NCWSE) at the seven-eighths-mile tri-oval, Dillon has earned one pole, two top-10 finishes and has completed 397 of 400 laps (99.2 percent) contested.

Testing 1, 2, 3 … Dillon & Co. tested their No. 31 Chevrolet last week at Iowa in preparation for this weekend’s Prairie Meadows 200.

AUSTIN DILLON Quote:

“I’m excited to be heading back to Iowa for my third time. My two previous starts were in the East Series cars, which are fairly different than the ARCA cars. There are a bunch of things you can do differently in terms of the set-up in those two series, but the fact that I’ve raced there has definitely taught me a lot how the track conditions changes over the course of a long run. It’s a great facility and we had a great test last week. Our Chevrolet was pretty fast and we’re confident that it will carry over to the race.”

DAN DEERINGHOFF (crew chief) Quote:

“Our test last week taught us a lot about how the ARCA cars handle during long runs. Our No. 31 Chevrolet showed a lot of speed and definitely built up our team’s confidence. We are hoping to have a strong qualifying effort in order to stay up front all day and contend for the win at the end.”

Michigan is a fast race track and, as a driver, there are so many options. Depending on how the car is handling, you can run on the bottom or all the way at the top. We had a great test session and will use the information we gained from that for the race. Dan (Deeringhoff) has played a big role in helping me learn the larger tracks and we’re hoping to have a solid finish this weekend. The biggest thing for me is to learn all I can in race conditions before we come back to Michigan for the Nationwide Series race.”

When we tested here last month, we found the speed we were looking for, but the car was too tight. We’ve worked on it back at the shop and will return with a better set up. We’re using to prepare for our Nationwide race in August and the more seat time Austin gets, the better he will be for that race. Austin is a hard racer and with a competitive car, we hope to finish well inside the top 15.”

Sean Caisse

No. 2 RCR Chevrolet Impala SS

Event Preview Fact Sheet

Event: Federated Auto Parts 300 – June 6, 2009

Venue: Nashville Superspeedway – Lebanon, Tenn.

· This Week’s RCR Chevrolet Impala SS at Nashville Superspeedway … Sean Caisse will pilot Chassis No. 049 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series stable. A former No. 29 racer, this is the same Impala SS that Jeff Burton drove to eighth-place finishes at Texas Motor Speedway and Darlington Raceway this season.

· RCR Debut … Caisse will make his first-career start for RCR this weekend at Nashville. The 23-year old driver will attempt to make his second-career NNS race. His first NNS start was at Dover International Speedway on September 23, 2006 where he drove for Kevin Harvick, Inc. He finished 42nd after being involved in a lap-10 accident that ended his run.

· Second Nashville Start … The 2005 NASCAR Camping World Series East Rookie of the Year will make his second start at the 1.33-mile speedway. His first start came on August 8, 2008 in the ARCA RE/MAX where he started on the outside pole, led 97 of 117 laps and finished 16th.

· Already a 2009 Race Winner … Caisse scored his first ARCA Re/Max Series win on April 19, 2009 in the ARCA RE/MAX Carolina 200 at Rockingham Raceway. The Pelham, N.H., native led the final three laps to secure his first victory of 2009.

· RCR Teammate this Weekend … For the second time in 2009, RCR will field multiple entries in a Nationwide Series event. Caisse’s teammate, Stephen Leicht, will pilot the No. 29 Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express Chevrolet in this weekend’s Federated Auto Parts 300.

· Milestone Start … If Leicht and Caisse both start Saturday evening’s event at Nashville, it will mark RCR’s 700th NNS start. RCR’s Nationwide Series programs have earned five championships with Kevin Harvick in 2001, Harvick and Johnny Sauter in 2003, Harvick in 2006, Jeff Burton and Scott Wimmer in 2007 and last season with Clint Bowyer. RCR also boasts 53 wins, 242 top- five and 385 top-10 finishes, along with 10,998 laps led in NNS competition.

SEAN CAISSE QUOTES:

“I’m excited for the opportunity to drive for Richard Childress Racing in the No. 2 Chevrolet. This organization has a rich history in the Nationwide Series and they know what it takes to win championships. I’m equally excited to be working with Dan (crew chief Deeringhoff). He’s a championship-winning crew chief who is very knowledgeable about how the cars handle and I’m eager to learn a lot from him. We tested at Rockingham last Tuesday and it helped get the kinks out before we head to the track this weekend. I hope to add to RCR’s consistency they always strive for and leave Nashville with a good finish.”

DAN DEERINGHOFF (CREW CHIEF) QUOTES:

“Sean is a talented young driver and I’m excited to work with him for the first time this season. He’s worked his way through the ranks and really knows how to qualify a car well. We had a test session last week at Rockingham and we were able to communicate well with one another. Our goal is to start up front and, if we get the set up right, have a shot a solid top-15 finish.”
