DARLINGTON, S.C. (May 12, 2012) – Five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) champion Jimmie Johnson scored his first win of the 2012 season at Darlington Raceway, his 56th career victory. Johnson’s win marks the 200th trip to victory lane for Rick Hendrick and Hendrick Motorsports (HMS). The milestone makes HMS only the second team to accomplish this feat (Petty Motorsports has 268 wins).
Johnson took over the lead at lap 324 and in dominating fashion paced the field until the checkered-flag flew. The victory moves Johnson and his No. 48 Chevrolet team to fifth in the point standings, just 39 markers from the lead spot.
