What he didn’t envision was perhaps a three-truck operation as soon as 2012.

But when team owners Kevin and DeLana Harvick opted to sell their organization’s equipment in June 2011, Sharp accelerated his plan, and as a result, Eddie Sharp Racing will field three trucks starting with the season-opening race in February.

“This is a huge jump and I have a tremendous amount of respect for that,” Sharp said after buying the assets to two KHI trucks in September. “But all of the lessons I’ve learned over the eight or nine years has been preparing me for this opportunity.

“This is an opportunity to do something positive, keep people working and put ourselves on the map where we need to be, where I fully intend to be. I’m not here just to be here. I want to make this a very successful, thriving team. I want to put ESR on the map and to utilize what KHI built is almost a no-brainer.”

Sharp hopes that his Eddie Sharp Racing will be talked about in the same conversations that included KHI and the likes of Kyle Busch Motorsports as far as the teams to beat in the trucks.

He will field three trucks in 2012 with Justin Lofton, Cale Gale and one other driver. Lofton won the 2009 ARCA title for Sharp and ended the 2011 season driving for Sharp after breaking away from Germain Racing.

“We’re here to compete for wins and compete for championships,” Sharp said. “I could have not made this big of a leap and we could have slowed everything down – and it would have been much more expensive and a much longer time frame to get where we want to be.”

(Nov. 21, 2011) — NASCAR’s future was front and center Monday night as four champions in two national series were crowned.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr., 24 and Austin Dillon, 21, officially were proclaimed champions of the NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, respectively, on the Americana Ballroom stage at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel.

Both were honored with their first NASCAR national series titles. Each became champion in the season following a rookie-of-the-year performance. Dillon becomes the youngest champion in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series’ 17-year history. Both champions won twice during the 2011 season.

Roush Fenway Racing’s No. 60 Ford Mustang won the NASCAR Nationwide Series Owner Championship, as driver Carl Edwards won eight times. The title is the second in the series for Jack Roush, his previous owner championship coming in 2002. It also marked the first time that the same owner claimed both the NASCAR Nationwide Series driver and owner titles with different teams.

Kevin Harvick Inc. claimed its third NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Owner Championship. DeLana Harvick’s No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado posted seven victories with three different drivers in adding to KHI’s owner titles from 2007 and 2009.

Timmy Hill, an 18-year-old Maryland competitor, won NASCAR Nationwide Series Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors by a single point, tying the series’ closest decision for that award. Dillon’s Richard Childress Racing teammate Joey Coulter, 21, won the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award, the second time the same organization claimed both championship and rookie laurels.

Elliott Sadler, Justin Allgaier, Aric Almirola and Reed Sorenson finished second through fifth in the championship standings and were honored along with Stenhouse in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

Johnny Sauter, James Buescher, Ron Hornaday Jr. and Timothy Peters were second through fifth in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series final points and joined Dillon on stage.

After a fan vote on NASCAR.com, in which more than 215,000 combined votes were cast, each series’ Most Popular Driver was revealed. Sadler and Dillon were chosen by the fans in the NASCAR Nationwide and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, respectively. Each was honored for the first time.

SPEED’s Rick Allen and Krista Voda hosted the event, which will air on Dec. 2 from 7-9 p.m. ET on SPEED, prior to the live telecast of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards Ceremony from Las Vegas.

No. 33 Rheem Heating, Cooling & Water Heating Chevrolet Impala

NASCAR Nationwide Series Race 34 of 34 – Homestead-Miami Speedway

THAT’S A WRAP: Just as the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) team started the season, they’ll end the season with driver Clint Bowyer behind the wheel of the Rheem Chevrolet Impala this Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway. In nine starts with the team, he’s collected one pole (Daytona International Speedway in February), four top-five and six top-10 finishes with 144 laps led.

BY THE NUMBERS: KHI has made eight starts at the 1.5-mile South Florida track with one top-five and three top-10 finishes. KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick captured the organization’s best finish of second in the season finale last year while driving the No. 33 Chevrolet.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 33 team has elected to compete with chassis No. 071 this weekend at Homestead. This chassis has been utilized 11 times this season with a best finish of third twice (Harvick at Auto Club Speedway in March and Paul Menard at Texas Motor Speedway in April). Most recently, Bowyer drove chassis No. 071 to a fourth-place finish during the second visit of the season at Texas Motor Speedway on November 5.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Bowyer and the No. 33 KHI team headed out west to Phoenix International Raceway for the second-to-last Nationwide Series event of the season last weekend. The Emporia, Kan., native qualified the Rheem Chevrolet Impala in the fourth position for the 200-lap contest and drove to a seventh-place finish.

Clint Bowyer - Photo Credit: John Harrelson / Getty Images for NASCAR

THOUGHTS FROM THE DRIVER: CLINT BOWYER

“I’ve had a lot of fun racing in this No. 33 Chevrolet and with this KHI team this year. It’s hard to believe it’s the end of the season already. We’ve had some really solid races, but just haven’t had the finishes to show for it. I’m hoping to go out on top and get this Rheem Chevrolet to victory lane.”

No. 33 OneMain Financial Chevrolet Silverado

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race 25 of 25 – Homestead-Miami Speedway

ANOTHER CAREER MILESTONE: Four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday will head into the 2011 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway adding another milestone to his career this season. The veteran will be behind the wheel of the No. 33 OneMain Financial Chevrolet making his 300th Truck Series start and gunning to close out the year at Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) with his fifth win of the season.

TWICE THE ONEMAIN FINANCIAL AT HOMESTEAD: OneMain Financial will again be pulling double duty in both the Nationwide Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events during the season-finale weekend. Ron Hornaday will pilot the No. 33 OneMain Financial Chevrolet Silverado in the Truck Series race on Friday night with Sadler competing the following day in the No. 2 OneMain Financial Nationwide Series ride.

CHASSIS HISTORY: Crew chief Bruce Cook and the No. 33 crew will unload chassis No. 042 when the team arrives at Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend. This chassis has been used in competition six times this season at Darlington Raceway, Nashville Superspeedway, Dover International Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, and again at Nashville Superspeedway in July. Most recently, the chassis took a trip to victory lane on August 24 at Bristol Motor Speedway with KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick. This chassis has collected two top-five and five top-10 finishes in its six starts.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Hornaday climbed behind the wheel of the No. 33 OneMain Financial Chevrolet on November 4 at Texas Motor Speedway for the WinStar World Casino 350k. Looking to gain further ground in the championship battle before the final race of the season, the four-time Truck Series champion was making laps around the 1.5-mile track showing that the KHI team was the one to beat. Trouble hit the team, however, on lap 15 as Hornaday was caught up in an accident that relegated him to a 34th-place finish.

What are your thoughts heading into the season finale and your final race with KHI?

“I know heading to Homestead with Bruce Cook and his crew that we will have a chance to win. It would be really great for us to get a win for OneMain Financial and to also give Kevin and DeLana one last trip to victory lane in the Truck Series. I wish we were in the middle of championship battle but we are not, so we will go out race hard and do what we have to do for the win.

“Kevin and DeLana have given me great equipment that has allowed me to have the successful career that I’ve had at KHI. I am very thankful to all of the employees, sponsors and fans that have put in the hard work and made things happen over the past seven seasons together. It’s going to be a bittersweet race.”

November 12, 2011

No. 32 Dollar General Chevrolet News and Notes

Welcome Ron Hornaday -Turner Motorsports and the No. 32 team welcome Ron Hornaday, Jr. as he pilots the Dollar General Chevy this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway. A consistent force to be reckoned with and title contender in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), Hornaday is making his first NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start for Turner Motorsports. In his 183 race NNS career, which spans 13 seasons, Hornaday boasts four wins, 32 top-five and 70 top-10 finishes along with one pole award.

Hornaday at Phoenix International Raceway - While he has made yearly trips to the one-mile Phoenix track for NCWTS action, Hornaday hasn’t turned competitive NNS laps at the track since 2007. Ironically, that last start came in a Dollar General sponsored car for Kevin Harvick, Inc. Hornaday will make his 11th NNS start at the track and has notched three top-five and six top-10 finishes in 10 previous starts along with 103 laps led. He owns an average starting position of 16.5 with an average finish of 14.6.

It’s New to Me - Hornaday will make good use of the extra testing session NASCAR is giving NNS competitors this weekend due to the newly paved track, as this is his first stint in the ‘new’ Nationwide Series car. Hornaday’s last NNS start came in 2010 at Lucas Oil Raceway Park.

Dollar General Team Continues To Build Solid Stats - It has been a solid year for the No. 32 Dollar General team, it’s first year under the Turner Motorsports banner. Through 32 races this season, the Trent Owens-led team has amassed two wins, eight top-five and 24 top-10 finishes, split between three drivers. Turner Motorsports notched its first team win with the No. 32 team at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March with Mark Martin behind the wheel.

Fans Can Win Big with Dollar General – Dollar General, an Official Partner of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup™, is offering customers the chance to win more than 9,000 prizes including free gas for a year, a trip for two to Las Vegas for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion’s Week™ and $250,000. The “Race in to Win” sweepstakes officially launched August 28 and runs through November 12, 2011. When customers purchase qualifying items from DG, they are given a code on their receipt to enter online at dollargeneral.com. It is the first-ever national retail program around the Chase, NASCAR’s version of the playoffs.

This Week’s Impala - This weekend, Hornaday will pilot TMS-122 in the Wypall 200 at Phoenix International Raceway. This is the first time this car will see action since an eighth-place finish at Darlington Raceway earlier in the season.

Hornaday on making an NNS start at Phoenix for Turner Motorsports:

“I’m really excited to get behind the wheel of the Dollar General Chevy this weekend for Turner Motorsports in Phoenix. I want to thank DG and Mr. Turner for the opportunity, as well as Kevin and DeLana [Harvick] for allowing me to compete in the Nationwide race with Turner Motorsports. This will be the first time for me in one of these new cars and it should be fun to give it a go with Trent [Owens] and the No. 32 team. I know they’ll have their stuff ready to race at a track I enjoy going to.”

“We’ve worked hard over the past several years to win as many races as we can,” said Harvick, driver of the No. 2 Hunt Brothers Pizza Silverado. “We’ve been fortunate to win some championships and have come up short on the manufacturers’ end of it.

“To be able to win the Owner’s Championship, win the race and win the Manufacturers’ Championship in the same night is pretty cool because Chevrolet has been a huge part of KHI (Kevin Harvick, Inc.) since the beginning. To go out and score a bunch of points this year and win the Owner’s Championship and the Manufacturers’ championship says a lot about everybody who’s involved and Chevrolet has been a huge part of providing the assets to make that happen.”

This is Chevrolet’s seventh NCWTS Manufacturers’ title since the Series’ inception in 1995 and occurs one day after Chevrolet celebrated its 100th anniversary.

“Chevrolet is very proud to win the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Manufacturers’ Championship,” said Jim Campbell, U.S. Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “This is one of the many reasons why we have been involved in racing all of these years. Thank you to all of the Chevrolet Silverado drivers, team owners, crew members and engineers. This achievement is truly a result of great teamwork and the collective efforts of many talented people.

“On behalf of Chevrolet, I would like to congratulate Kevin and DeLana Harvick and the entire Kevin Harvick, Inc. team for clinching the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Owner’s Championship. It is a tremendous accomplishment for the organization and we are proud of our association with KHI.”

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series closes out its 2011 season at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 18. Austin Dillon sits atop the standings, followed by fellow Silverado drivers Johnny Sauter (20 points behind the leader) and James Buescher (28 points behind Dillon).

Chevrolet drivers have won 10 NCWTS championships, with Ron Hornaday being the only four-time champion of the Series. Chevrolet’s first drivers’ championship was won by Mike Skinner in 1995.

Earlier this year, Chevrolet clinched the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Manufacturers’ Cup, its 35th, and ninth in a row (2003-11).

Gale’s start this weekend will also mark his fourth and final Truck Series start of the 2011 season. Previously this season Gale made three truck series starts and three Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) starts, all carrying the black and red paint scheme of Rheem.

CHECK YOUR HEADLIGHTS: During the race weekend at Dover (Del.) International Speedway, Rheem launched “Chasing the Cure,” a month-long program created in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and to raise awareness of the Young Survival Coalition (YSC), a group dedicated to supporting women diagnosed with breast cancer that are under 40 years old.
This weekend will mark your first career start at the historic Martinsville Speedway. What are your thoughts heading into the weekend and how do you prepare to race at the track known as the paperclip? “I’m really excited about getting to race at Martinsville and I think it will be a lot of fun. I know Ron (Hornaday) and Kevin (Harvick) will be really tough just like they always are, but with them both as teammates this weekend, I can lean on them for advice as I make my first trip to the paper clip. I’m excited to get back in the truck and can’t thank Rheem enough for their support and the opportunity.”

CHASSIS HISTORY: This week the No. 21 Rheem team will unload chassis No. 045 for Gale. This chassis has several starts this season including a fourth-place finish at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway and most recently a 10th-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway.

NASCAR Nationwide Series Race 29 of 34 – Dover International Speedway

BOWYER VS. DOVER, ROUND TWO: Clint Bowyer lost the battle against the “Monster Mile” during the NASCAR Nationwide Series first visit to the concrete oval in May of this season. The Emporia, Kan., native was collected in a wild, last-lap accident that left the Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) team with a 14th-place finish after leading 37 laps and running up front all day. Bowyer returns to the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Impala this weekend looking to add a third win to his series record at Dover International Speedway.

BY THE NUMBERS: In 10 starts, Bowyer has two wins, five top-five and seven top-10 finishes and has led a total of 208 laps around the one-mile facility. In 18 Nationwide Series starts at the track, KHI has a record of two top-five and seven top-10 finishes. Bowyer notched the organization’s best start of third in May while KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick and four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday hold the mark for best finish with fifth-place results in 2010 and 2006 respectively.

ONEMAIN FINANCIAL 200: This weekend’s Nationwide Series race serves as a special event for KHI as OneMain Financial, the primary sponsor of the No. 2 team and driver Elliott Sadler, will be the title sponsor at Dover. Prior to the OneMain Financial 200, Sadler and Kevin and DeLana Harvick will head to the organization’s headquarters in Baltimore, Md., to meet OneMain Financial employees. “As team owners, it’s exciting to see a sponsor like OneMain Financial activating and participating in NASCAR,” said Kevin Harvick. “It shows how dedicated they are to the sport, which is something that is great to be a part of. It’s fun that the race is in OneMain Financial’s backyard at Dover, and it should be a great weekend.”

RHEEM GOES PINK: Rheem will pull double duty this weekend serving as primary sponsor of Harvick’s No. 29 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. On Sunday, Rheem’s familiar black and red colors will go pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month which begins nationwide on Oct. 1. Additionally, Rheem will launch “Chasing the Cure,” a month-long program created to support the national effort and to raise awareness of the Young Survivor Coalition, a group dedicated to supporting women diagnosed with breast cancer that are under 40 years old. KHI co-owner DeLana Harvick will wear a special pink firesuit for the Sprint Cup Series race day, and a replica of the suit will be presented to the Young Survivor Coalition.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 33 Rheem team will unload chassis No. 066 when they arrive at Dover this weekend. This particular chassis has seen the most competition this season of any in the No. 33 KHI stable, having being utilized in seven events with a best finish of second twice (Richmond International Raceway with Paul Menard in April and Harvick at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in July).

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Paul Menard returned to the No. 33 Rheem/Menards Chevrolet as the Nationwide Series made its second trip of the season to Chicagoland Speedway on September 17. Menard qualified the KHI Chevrolet in the third position for the 200-lap event and competed among the top 10 throughout the day before finishing ninth.

“I love Dover. It’s like Bristol, just a bigger, faster, meaner Bristol. I have two Nationwide Series wins at Dover. I’d love to make it three and get this No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet into victory lane this weekend, especially after the spring race here. We had the Rheem Chevrolet up front all day and led laps but got tangled in a wild wreck coming out of turn four on the last lap.”

About Rheem:

Rheem Manufacturing Company (www.rheem.com) is privately held with headquarters in Atlanta.
No. 2 OneMain Financial Chevrolet Impala

NASCAR Nationwide Series Race 29 of 34 – Dover International Speedway II

TAMING THE MONSTER MILE: Elliott Sadler and the No. 2 OneMain Financial team will head to Dover International Speedway this weekend for the second NASCAR Nationwide Series event at the Monster Mile this season. In May, the Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) team finished sixth in a caution-extended contest at the one-mile track. After a pit road penalty and an untimely red flag for rain, the No. 2 OneMain Financial team fought back for a top 10 in a wild overtime finish.

ONEMAIN FINANCIAL 200: The Nationwide Series race this weekend serves as a special event for the No. 2 team and KHI as OneMain Financial will be the title sponsor at Dover. Prior to the OneMain Financial 200, Sadler and KHI co-owners Kevin and DeLana Harvick will head to the organization’s headquarters in Baltimore, Md., to meet OneMain Financial employees. “As team owners, it’s exciting to see a sponsor like OneMain Financial activating and participating in NASCAR,” said KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick. “It shows how dedicated they are to the sport, which is great to be a part of. It’s fun that the race is in OneMain Financial’s backyard at Dover, and it should be a great weekend.”

CONCRETE RACING: Sadler is no stranger to competition at the Dover, Del., concrete track. The Emporia, Va., native has competed at the track seven times in the Nationwide Series with three top-10 finishes. Sadler has also competed at the one-mile concrete oval 24 times in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with a total of three top 10s, 188 laps led and a best finish of sixth in 2005. He also has a one start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2010 where he sat on the outside pole in a KHI truck and ran in the top five for most of the day until tire failure relegated the team to a 24th-place finish.

KHI AT DOVER: KHI has made a total of 18 starts since 2005 at Dover. The organization has two top-five and seven top-10 finishes with a best finish of fifth scored in 2010 by team co-owner Harvick and in 2006 by Ron Hornaday.

TO THE POINT: Sadler remains in the second position in the Nationwide Series Driver’s Point standings. With six events remaining on the schedule, Sadler sits 14 points out of the lead.

OPEN TRACK SESSION: Ticketholders for the OneMain Financial 200 will have the opportunity to attend a free open track session before the race on Oct. 1 at Dover and will have special access to the frontstretch. Sadler and KHI co-owners Kevin and DeLana Harvick will make an appearance at the event, and the session will run from 10-11:30 a.m.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 2 OneMain Financial team will unload chassis No. 064 for this weekend’s competition at Dover. This is the sixth time the No. 2 team has utilized this particular chassis, including a sixth-place finish when the Nationwide Series competed in the May event at Dover. The team also ran No. 064 at the March and August events at Bristol Motor Speedway (fourth and eighth), Nashville Superspeedway in April (13th) and Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis in July (16th).

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Sadler drove the No. 2 OneMain Financial Chevrolet to a sixth-place finish in the Nationwide Series race at Chicagoland Speedway. Sadler and the KHI team competed toward the front of the field for the entire race and brought home the team’s 20th top-10 finish of the season.

Elliott Sadler

THOUGHTS FROM THE DRIVER: Elliott Sadler

How do you feel heading into this week’s race at Dover?

“Man, Dover is a big weekend for us, and it is definitely a big weekend for OneMain Financial. It is the first time OneMain Financial has been the entitlement sponsor of a NASCAR race, so it is exciting for everyone. We know that there will be a lot of customers and employees from different branches, so there are high expectations for us to go there and do well. We think we have a really good setup, and we will be bringing a brand-new car that we know will be fast. We definitely want to run well in our sponsor’s race, and it is crunch time coming down to the championship, so our guys are as focused as ever. I’m thrilled for the opportunity to go out there and race under OneMain Financial’s banner for the Dover race.”

MOST POPULAR DRIVER: Sadler is eligible for the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series Most Popular Driver award. Fans can vote for Sadler now through November 17 on www.NASCARNationwideSeries.com.

(September 23, 2011) - Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR), currently a one-team operation in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), announced today that they have acquired a controlling interest in two of Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Truck Series teams.

With the acquisition of the No. 8 and No. 33 KHI trucks, ESR will field three full-time NCWTS teams in 2012. The NCWTS driver line up for ESR will be announced in October. The teams will operate out of Eddie Sharp Racing’s current 40,000 square-foot five-star facility in Denver, N.C.

Eddie Sharp

“The timing couldn’t have been any more perfect,” said team owner Eddie Sharp. “We are ready to take this opportunity head on to utilize what Kevin and DeLana have built. It was a marriage made in heaven, because we were ready to move forward at ESR, and this opportunity worked out perfectly. With KHI, you have a turnkey, successful program at the ready.

“I’m excited about the future of ESR, really excited,” Sharp continued. “We’ll have driver and sponsor lineup announcements coming within the next few weeks. To see everything progress with Kevin and DeLana’s help, and the support from Chevrolet, it’s a dream come true.”

Eddie Sharp Racing’s No. 6 truck is currently 19th in NCWTS owner point standings, only 57 points out of the top 12. The team was created in 2006 as Eddie Sharp envisioned his long-term goals as a team owner. The goal was to contend, not simply compete. That desire drove Sharp to obtain a five-star facility, which is what allowed the team to quickly transition from contender to champion.

(Aug. 8, 2011) – For the second consecutive year, the Wyndham Championship is partnering with the Kevin Harvick Foundation for its Pro-Am event on Monday, Aug. 15, it was announced today. The event will kick-off the 72nd annual Wyndham Championship, set for Aug. 15 – 21 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

Kevin Harvick, a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and Kevin Harvick Foundation co-founder, will join PGA TOUR professionals and other amateur golfers in filling four-person teams to compete in the second-annual Kevin Harvick Foundation pro-am presented by Technology Concepts & Design. In keeping with the Kevin Harvick Foundation mission statement to positively affect the lives of children, several hundred local youth will attend the event as special guests of the Kevin Harvick Foundation and its partners.

In addition to the Monday pro-am, the Kevin Harvick Foundation will host an expo tent for the entire week of the tournament. The No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet show car, a replica of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car Harvick drives, will be on display for the Kevin Harvick Foundation Pro-Am. In the Foundation expo for the remainder of the week, the No. 33 Chevrolet show car which Harvick drives in the NASCAR Nationwide Series will be featured with a special Wyndham Championship paint scheme. At the expo, fans will have access to information about Foundation programs and upcoming events, plus a chance to win autographed racing memorabilia.

The Kevin Harvick Foundation is also one of some 50 local and national charitable organizations that will have the chance to win $100,000 from Wishes by Wyndham, the philanthropic foundation of Wyndham Worldwide. During the four official rounds of PGA TOUR play, Thursday, Aug. 17 through Sunday, Aug. 21, tournament patrons will have the opportunity to vote at computer kiosks in the “Key to Wyn” tent for their charity of choice, including the Kevin Harvick Foundation. Patrons may vote only once per day.

The Charity receiving the most votes when voting closes at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21 will receive the $100,000 donation from Wishes By Wyndham. The check presentation will happen immediately after the winner of the Wyndham Championship receives the Sam Snead Cup on the 18th green following the tournament. Additional information about the Wishes by Wyndham program is available at http://www.wyndhamchampionship.com/children%E2%80%99s-charities/

“This is the second year we’ve been fortunate to partner with the Wyndham Championship for this Pro-Am event,” said Harvick. “I want to thank Mark Brazil and everyone with the Wyndham Championship for the opportunity. It is through events like this that we can further the mission of the Kevin Harvick Foundation and further the dreams of children.”

“The inaugural Kevin Harvick Foundation pro-am was a huge success last year, and we are very happy to have Kevin and his foundation back at the Wyndham,” Wyndham Championship tournament director Mark Brazil said. “The Kevin Harvick Foundation mission to help improve the lives of children fits perfectly into the Wishes by Wyndham charity program that will award $100,000 to the charity getting the most votes during the four days of the actual tournament. We appreciate Bill Johnson and TCDI for their generosity in making this event happen, and we look forward to helping many children through our partnership with the Kevin Harvick Foundation.”

No. 33 Rheem / Menards Chevrolet Impala

NASCAR Nationwide Series Race 22 of 34 – Iowa Speedway

NATIONWIDE SERIES DEBUT: David Mayhew is set to make his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut in the No. 33 Rheem/Menards Chevrolet Impala this weekend at Iowa Speedway. Mayhew has competed in two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events for Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) this season behind the wheel of the No. 2 MMI Services Chevrolet Silverado. The Bakersfield, Calif., native finished a career-best third at Texas Motor Speedway in June and collected his first-career pole in only his sixth start in the series last month at Iowa. Mayhew led 21 laps en route to a third-place finish at the Newton, Iowa track.

NOT REALLY A ROOKIE: While this weekend might be Mayhew’s first Nationwide Series race at Iowa, the driver is no stranger to victory lane at the 0.875-mile tri-oval. Mayhew has made six starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West division with a record that includes one pole, three wins, four top-five and five top-10 finishes at the track as well as 210 laps led.

HARVICK’S PICK: Impressed with Mayhew’s knowledge and talent, KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick tapped fellow California native to practice his Nationwide Series cars in practice sessions at Iowa last season and Chicagoland Speedway in June this year when the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule and logistics kept Harvick from participating in the practices. Mayhew has also tested cars for KHI during the off season.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: After collecting his career-best series finish at Nashville Superspeedway, Austin Dillon and the No. 33 Rheem/Menards team headed to Indiana looking to top the third-place finish in the Nationwide Series Saturday night showdown at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis. Dillon qualified the KHI Chevrolet Impala in the 12th position and raced among the top 10 for the majority of the 200-lap event. The young driver finished 14th after being involved in a late-race incident which included teammate Elliott Sadler in the No. 2 OneMain Financial Chevrolet.

CHASSIS HISTORY: Crew chief David Hyder and the No. 33 Rheem/Menards team have prepared chassis No. 066 for this weekend’s race at Iowa Speedway. The No. 33 team utilized this chassis five times thus far this season. Kevin Harvick finished third at Phoenix International Raceway, sixth at Bristol Motor Speedway and second at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Paul Menard competed with chassis No. 066 at Richmond International Raceway where he finished second and driver Austin Dillon drove to a 10th-place finish at Iowa Speedway in May.

David Mayhew

THOUGHTS FROM THE DRIVER: DAVID MAYHEW

What are your thoughts on making your Nationwide Series debut this weekend at Iowa Speedway?

“I really want to thank Kevin and DeLana [Harvick], Menards and Rheem for the chance to get to drive for KHI. They have great equipment and build great cars. I am really looking forward to making my first official start in the Nationwide Series. I practiced the car for Kevin [Harvick] a couple of times last year and made it to Iowa earlier this year to practice for Austin Dillon, but rain kept us off the track. It’ll be great to get behind the wheel this weekend and not only practice, but see it through to qualifying and the race.

“It’s always good to go back to Iowa. I’ve been there and raced at the track before so it’ll be good that I am not trying to learn the car and the track all at once. I’ve won races at Iowa in the West Series. I like how the track drives. It’s like a big track even though it’s a short track. We had a great race there last month in the No. 2 truck. I’m really excited to go back.”

About Menards:

With 263 stores in 13 Midwestern states, Menards has the tools, materials and supplies for all your home improvement needs whether just needing a light bulb or can of paint to building a deck or new home.
No. 33 Rheem / Menards Chevrolet Impala

NASCAR Nationwide Series Race 21 of 34 – Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis

BACK-TO-BACK WITH DILLON: For the second week in a row, Austin Dillon will join the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) team as the NASCAR Nationwide Series heads to the Hoosier State for a Saturday night showdown at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis. Behind the wheel of the Rheem/Menards Chevrolet, the 21-year-old driver will make his fourth and final start of the season with the KHI team. It will also be Dillon’s second start at the 0.686-mile track. In 2009, he started from the 26th position and drove to an 18th-place finish.

KHI IN INDY: Lucas Oil Raceway is one of 17 tracks on the Nationwide Series current schedule at which KHI does not have a win and one of 14 without a pole. In eight starts at the track with several drivers behind the wheel, the organization has racked up one top-five and three top-10 finishes. Ron Hornaday holds the highest KHI finish at the Indianapolis track in 2007, bringing home a fifth-place finish.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Last Saturday Austin Dillon climbed behind the wheel of the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet for the third time this season as the Nationwide Series returned to Nashville Superspeedway. Dillon, who won the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event Friday night, qualified the KHI Chevrolet in the fourth position and maintained track position among the top 10 throughout the 225-lap event. The driver crossed the finish line third, his career-best finish in 10 Nationwide Series starts.

CHASSIS HISTORY: For this weekend’s race at Lucas Oil Raceway, the No. 33 Rheem/Menards team has prepared chassis No. 063. KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick competed with this chassis on June 4 at Chicagoland Speedway. Harvick started in the 18th position and brought home a 13th-place finish.

THOUGHTS FROM THE DRIVER: AUSTIN DILLON

What are your thoughts about racing at Lucas Oil Raceway this weekend?

“I don’t have many laps at Lucas Oil Raceway so I’ll have a little bit of a learning curve which will be interesting. The track is very cool. The racing is always great and the fans there are awesome. KHI builds great cars and has run well there in the past in both the Nationwide and Truck Series. We were fast last weekend at Nashville in this No. 33 Chevrolet. I’m excited to get back in the Rheem/Menards car this weekend and hopefully I’ll be able to thank Kevin and DeLana [Harvick] as well as Rheem and Menards for the opportunity in victory lane.”
