In preparation for the season’s most eagerly anticipated event, Coulter Motorsports participated in the three-day ARCA Open Test at Daytona January 11-13th. Coulter piloted the team’s 16B car during both (morning and evening) practice session’s on day one, posting the tenth fastest single car run time at 49.543 seconds at 181.660 MPH. Due to a prior scheduled test with his Richard Childress team, Coulter could not participate in the last two days of testing. Coulter Motorsports Crew Chief Michael Chapman opted to use the veteran expertise of driving coach/spotter, Randy Renfrow to gain valuable data for the team. Renfrow piloted the 16A car to an 18th fastest single run during day two’s morning session with a time of 49.763 seconds at 180.857 MPH and later followed it up with an afternoon drafting session run of 14th at 48.844 seconds at 184.260 MPH. The third and final day, proved to pay off as Chapman and Renfrow continuously worked on the car, before ultimately posting the seventh fastest single run at 49.659 seconds at 181.236 MPH and eighth fastest drafting run at 48.890 seconds at 184.087 MPH.
