(August 24, 2010) - Johanna Long will make her third NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start in this week’s EnjoyIllinois.com 225 at Chicagoland Speedway. Long will be returning behind the wheel of the No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota Tundra to tackle the 1.5-mile race track.

Chicagoland Speedway will be the first mile-and-a-half venue that Long has competed at in NCWTS competition. Long made history this season when she became the youngest female driver to make a NCWTS start. The Pensacola, Fla., native made her debut at O’Reilly Raceway Park this season, where she finished 17th. She next competed at Nashville Superspeedway and finished 34th after she was spun out and unable to continue.

Long has already collected an impressive list of racing accomplishments. At only 18 years old, she touts Late Model championships in the Blizzard Series and Gulf Coast Series from the 2009 season. Long won five of the 36 events she ran en route to her championships and captured the pole for the esteemed Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in 2009. Long also competed in two ARCA events last season.

Johanna Long

Long Comments on EnjoyIllinois.com 225:

“I can’t wait to get back on track. Our last race at Nashville didn’t turn out how we expected. I barely had anytime to race, so I’m looking forward to heading to Chicagoland. I really enjoyed the speed and pace at Nashville. I’ve mostly competed at short tracks, so it was nice to get some experience at a larger track. It was really fun wheeling the truck. I was excited about racing there, but we only got three laps in before I was crashed. I’m anxious to continue learning and developing as a driver, so this will be a great opportunity.

“My guys worked so hard at Nashville and I was disappointed that we didn’t have more to show for our effort. My crew has given me an awesome truck both times I’ve raced with Billy Ballew Motorsports and I’m sure that Chicago will be no different. Hopefully this race will reflect how good this team really is.

“I’ve really enjoyed the past two Truck Series races. Each one has been a learning experience. The trucks are a lot different than anything I’ve ever driven, so I’m still getting the hang of them. It’s definitely a challenge, but I’m feeling more comfortable behind the wheel. I’m learning the handling characteristics and getting a better understanding of what the truck needs for the race. Each lap I take is valuable. Fortunately I have a great crew around me that helps speeding up that curve.”

About Billy Ballew Motorsports:

BBM started competing full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2002 and has had a variety of well known NASCAR drivers over the years. The list includes Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Aric Almirola, Brian Ickler, John Andretti, Kenny Wallace, Paul Menard, Bill Lester, Geoffrey Bodine, Joe Ruttman and a host of others. It was Shane Hmiel who piloted the No. 15 for the 2004 season that brought Billy Ballew his first win at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the team’s 100th start in the NCWTS. Since then Billy Ballew Motorsports has taken 18 more trips to victory lane.

(August 3, 2010) – The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) will make its second trip to Nashville Superspeedway for the running of the Nashville 200. The event will mark Johanna Long’s second race in NCWTS competition.

Long drove the No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports-fielded Tundra at O’Reilly Raceway Park (ORP) last July, starting 15th and finishing the day in 17th-place. Returning with the same team, Long hopes that her experience at ORP will propel her to a stronger finish in Saturday’s Nashville 200.

Long will be carrying two special sponsors on her Tundra this week. Adorning her truck bed will be the decals of country music singer Sunny Sweeney. Like Long, Sweeney is an up-and-comer in her profession. Sunny’s next project for the Republic Nashville label, produced by fellow Texan Brett Beavers, contains the new Top 40 single “From A Table Away.” Sweeny will be performing the post-race concert following the race at Nashville Superspeedway on Saturday.

Long wants to thank everyone from her hometown, Pensacola, Florida. The Long family appreciates the city’s support throughout Johanna’s racing career and is showing their gratitude by donating the space on the 15 truck’s hood to the city of Pensacola. They hope everyone has a chance to visit the city that has been so loyal and important in Johanna’s development.

Johanna Long

Long Comments on Nashville Superspeedway:

“I can’t wait to get back in a truck. I had so much fun last time. It took about half of the race at ORP before I felt like I was getting the hang of it. I was starting to find my groove and understand the handling characteristics of a truck just as the race was ending. That has me really excited about going to Nashville. I know I still have a lot to learn, but I feel like we’re heading in the right direction and it has me anxious to hit the track.

“I’ve never raced at a track like Nashville (Superspeedway). I’m excited about the challenge. I’ve been racing on mostly flat tracks with Late Models for a while now. It will be fun to step outside of my comfort zone and attempt something new.

“I finished 17th in my last race (ORP). I’m aiming for a top-15 this week. It will be a new track for me, but hopefully my learning curve won’t be quite as steep as my first race. Now that I have an event under my belt, I’m hoping we can do a little better than last time. My team is a great bunch of guys and they’re all very talented. I know we can get the job done.”

“Former Blizzard Champion Looks for Success in the Badger State”

CONCORD, NC (July 30, 2010) – Josh Hamner has already run some of the biggest races in the Super Late Model world in his young career. From the Snowball Derby to SpeedFest to the All American 400, Hamner has been a part of all the major events in the Southeast. Now, Hamner will try one of the bigger shows in the Midwest as he will race this coming Tuesday in the Dixieland 150 at Wisconsin International Raceway (WI). He will drive for one of the region’s best-known teams in the event, 5K Motorsports.

“I am really looking forward to going up there to race for Ken Wills and the 5K Motorsports team,” said Hamner. “It’s going to be different to race with all those guys up there, but at the same time we hope it will be a little bit cooler than what we have in Alabama. I am excited for the opportunity and hope we can have a good finish.”

The Dixieland 150 has had tons of historic winners from Dick Trickle, Butch Miller, Joe Shear and Rich Bickle. Those guys have paved the foundation for the current stars of the Midwest, Steve Carlson, Ross Kenseth, Chris Wimmer, Dan Fredrickson, Nathan Haseleu and more.

“There are a lot of good racers that run that series and the guys who have won this race in the past are a list of who’s who in short track racing. I have run with a few of the ASA Midwest guys in the past, but now we’ll get the chance to race them all in their own backyard.”

Hamner has taken a big step over the last two seasons to race in new series and new places. Last year, Hamner ran the balance of what is now the Sunoco National Tour. He scored a victory at Salem Speedway (IN) and posted four top-five finishes mostly on tracks he had never raced on.

“We don’t mind racing new faces in new places,” said Hamner. “We have done a lot with the Kyle Busch Motorsports team this year and we are getting closer to landing in victory lane in the Gulf Coast. We are excited for this opportunity with the 5K Motorsports team and hope we can score a win.”

The Dixieland 150 will be on Tuesday, August 3rd with practice beginning just after 1pm. Racing starts at 7pm Central Time.

Hamner’s next race following the Dixieland 150 will be the next race in Blizzard Super Late Model Series at Five Flags Speedway on August 13th.

For more information on Josh Hamner check out his website at www.joshhamner.com

Long won five of the 36 events she ran en route to her championships and captured the pole for the esteemed Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in 2009. Long also competed in two ARCA events last season.

Billy Ballew, team owner BBM, anticipates Long to continue a successful progression as she takes her first step into the NCWTS.

“I’m really excited to have Johanna (Long) in our truck at ORP,” said Ballew. “She’s extremely talented and has been very successful up to this point. The Truck Series is a great venue for her to grow as a driver. She’s got all the tools to be successful, and I think this will be a good opportunity for her to develop her talent.”

BBM has a history of opening doors for young, up and coming drivers. He has fielded winning trucks for young drivers such as Shane Hmiel, Kyle Busch and Aric Almirola. He also helped jump-start stock car career of Brian Ickler, and most recently Nelson Piquet Jr. Long sees her inaugural NCWTS race with BBM as an opportunity to mature as a driver.

Johanna Long

“This is a great opportunity,” Long said. “Billy Ballew Motorsports has great people and great equipment. I’m looking forward to working with the team. This will be my first Truck Series race, so of course it will be an adjustment. Billy’s guys have been very successful helping other up and coming drivers transition into NASCAR. I’m really excited to have the chance to learn from them and race with some of the best drivers in motorsports.”

Long tested with BBM last week at Asheboro, N.C.’s Caraway Speedway. The .455-mile paved oval has similar characteristics to O’Reilly Raceway Park and helped prepare Long for the race ahead. The session was Long’s first opportunity to drive a NASCAR race truck. Aric Almirola, driver of the No. 51 BBM truck, was on hand to coach Long as she navigated the track.

Long will test this week at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Ga. Long and her 15 team will test for two days at the half-mile paved speedway.

Although her schedule is not confirmed, Long anticipates racing more NCWTS events with BBM following the AAA Insurance 200 at O’Reilly Raceway Park as part of a multi-race developmental program.

For years, the Blizzard races would feature an optional pit stop for two tires at any point during the event. However, with tough economic times track officials at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida have decided to institute a halfway break instead of allowing live pit stop, in an effort to aid the teams who can’t produce a full pit crew.

“It’s definitely going to change the races in a lot of different ways,” said point leader Bubba Pollard. “It’s still going to be the same old Five Flags, but we were big fans of the pit stops and that type of racing. I know the fans enjoy it, but now we’re going to have to make up for it on the track and not in the pits.”

Not all drivers see it the same way, Mike Garvey who’s returned to the Late Model scene as a driver this season, understands the efforts of the track.

“It’s fine with me. As long as they police it right it’ll work,” said Garvey. “It’s cheaper for the racers because they don’t have to bring a full pit crew which can get pretty costly. It’s really tough to field a full team with these tough economic times, I think it will work.”

Over the years, the live pit stop has made the Blizzard Series very exciting and very unpredictable. In recent years guys like Ryan Sieg, Casey Smith, Eddie Mercer and several others have lost races in the pits after having been in the lead.

“We won a race earlier this because of some good pit strategy and we have lost a few races thanks to the pit stops,” added Pollard. “We like the element of the live stop because to win you have to be at your best.”

Garvey also offered a reminder to those who are missing the live pit stops.

“It’s so hard to do the live pit stops for the extra races,” added Garvey. “It’s already expensive to race these cars and fans will still get to see live stops at the Snowball Derby.”

Lost in the shuffle of the pit stop story, is the point battle we have shaping up on in the Blizzard Series and in the Gulf Coast Championship Series. Chase Elliott, winner of the last race at Five Flags Speedway, trail Bubba Pollard by only two points heading into the USA Digital 100 on Friday night. Defending Blizzard Series Champion Johanna Long is lurking in third spot and heads into Pensacola riding momentum.

Action gets underway with practice at 4pm for the Super Late Models and Features starting at 8pm. In addition to the Super Late Models the Super Stocks, Sportsman and Bombers will be on the racing cars this Friday night.

“Chelsea, Alabama, Driver Parts Ways with Reuse Motorsports Team”

CHELSEA, AL (January 11, 2010) – After having a highly successful season in the ASA Late Model Challenge ranks in 2009, Josh Hamner and team owners Bobby and Roger Reuse have decided not to return together as a team in 2010. The “Air Company” race team raced in all nine of the ASA Late Model Challenge events and even scored a dominating win at Salem Speedway in Indiana. 2010 expectations were high until the Reuse family decided to pursue other business opportunities in the immediate future – leaving Josh without a ride.

“I have to thank Bobby and Roger Reuse for giving me an opportunity to race for them,” said Hamner. “It was great for them to take me on as a driver and take on the ASA Late Model Challenge Series. We had a good year. We got ourselves a win at Salem. Do to some circumstances, we didn’t visit victory lane quite as often as we wanted to, but we had a lot of fun.”

Josh list himself now as a “Free Agent” hoping that someone might be able to come along and offer up a solid opportunity to run in the ASA Late Models ranks or elsewhere in the Late Model racing world. Preliminary plans for 2010 are to run locally at Montgomery and other Southeast tracks, but Hamner is keeping his options open.

“Racing is a hobby for a lot of people, but it’s my life,” said Hamner. “I am looking to be a driver for someone else if the right opportunity comes along, but going to the racetrack and working with teams and younger drivers is some thing I love to do. If a ride comes along where it’s a set number of races, or a full series with another team, then you can almost guarantee that there would be backing from the family business.”

Josh, of course, is tied in with Hamner Racing Engines, which is run by his father Jeff Hamner, who had a highly successful season in 2009. With championships in the Gulf Coast Series, Blizzard Series and event the Snowball Derby it shows that the Hamner name is synonymies with winning. Josh himself was the 2008 Blizzard Series champion at Five Flags Speedway (FL).

The split between the two parties was on good terms. In fact, Bobby Reuse still plans on helping Hamner out at the track when he can in 2010.

“We are going to stay in touch and offer support to him with our truck and trailer among other things,” said Bobby Reuse. “I myself even plan on going to a few races with him and maybe will spot for him. We are just not going to be fielding a race team this season and I am not going to be the car owner. Josh is such a motivated person. He is 100 percent dedicated to racing. He is focused and dedicated to the sport and wants it to be his life worse then anyone I have ever known.”

Hamner is now entertaining ideas and option for the 2010 racing season after finishing third in the final ASA Late Model Challenge Series point standings. Hamner will attend the banquet this weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana.

“We had great practices,” said Gresham, who timed in second in the Friday morning test session leading up to qualifying later that day. “The guys were really excited and everyone was looking forward to the race. Then the bottom kind of fell out of things.”

Gresham’s dreams of winning the 42nd-annual event began to go south in qualifying Friday evening when cold conditions and a loose racecar knocked him from the ranks of contender for the win to a spot in the last-chance qualifying race.

“Qualifying was a big disappointment,” said Gresham, who timed in 39th in the massive 58-car field that tried to make the race. “We were second in the first practice Friday and really confident in getting into the show and running well in the race. Then we went out for qualifying and everything kind of went south.”

Gresham and his team regrouped Saturday morning and were poised to make a run at one of the final four Snowball Derby starting positions awarded in the 50-lap Last Chance event. Unfortunately, the Griffin, GA teenager wasn’t on the gas long after the drop of the green flag as his window net came down on the second circuit.

“That was the first time that ever happened to me and it really dumbfounded me,” Gresham stated. “I held it up for a lap or two and then we got a caution. I tried to put it back up and I was really close a couple of times. I thought I had it once, but then I hit a bump on the track and it knocked it loose again. There was nothing I could do by come into the pits to get it hooked back up.”

That’s where things took a terminal turn for Gresham.

“As I was leaving the pits, the rear end came out of the car,” Gresham stated. “I don’t think I left real hard. It just spit right out in pieces on pit road. That ended it for us. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be for me to make my first Snowball Derby this year.”

While his initial Pensacola Derby weekend didn’t turn out to be what he had hoped, Gresham’s 2009 racing season was anything but a disappointment. Two American Speed Association Southeast Asphalt Tour event wins early in the year and four solid showings in the Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR Camping World Series East division highlighted the campaign for the young driver.

“We had a great season, regardless of what happened here this weekend,” said Gresham. “We ran third at Iowa Speedway and notched an outside pole and eighth-place run at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the Gibbs car and our Gresham Motorsports team won early in the year. We added a couple of people to our team this year that really helped us. They had a big influence and overall, I think we had a great year. We were blessed to have the success we had with both the Gibbs car and our own effort. I can’t wait to get going again next season.”

Cale Gale would like to find a way to Victory Lane at Five Flags Speedway to bring a happy ending to a lost racing season.

The Mobile driver is one of the NASCAR names racing this weekend at the Pensacola track. He’s entered in Saturday’s Allen Turner Snowflake 100 for pro late models and Sunday’s 42nd Snowball Derby, a 300-lap super late model race that pays $20,000 to the winner.

Among those entered in one or both races are Sprint Cup star and 2009 Nationwide Series champion Kyle Busch, Cup driver David Stremme, Nationwide drivers Steven Wallace and John Wes Townley, and James Buescher, Brian Ickler, Brian Scott, Ryan Sieg and Shane Sieg from NASCAR’s truck series.

Past winners of the Snowball Derby include such NASCAR notables as Wallace, Donnie Allison, Rich Bickle, Rick Crawford, Pete Hamilton, Ted Musgrave and Darrell Waltrip.

“It’s one of the most prestigious short-track races in the country,” Gale said. “It’s a great race to come run if you’re a short-track guy. Everybody races all year all over the country, then everybody brings their best stuff down here and sees what they’ve got.”

“This will be my first time running the Derby,” said Gresham. “We ran really well in the Snowflake 100 at Pensacola last year and turned in a strong seventh-place finish. Honestly, about the only thing that’s different between the two races is the increased horsepower in the Super Late Model car and the longer distance of the Derby. I know my Gresham Motorsports team has gone all out to give me the best opportunity to do well this weekend. Now it’s just up to me to do my best.”

The last time Gresham visited the Five Flags half-mile oval on September 25, the racing fates weren’t on his side as a Lap 1 crash eliminated him from the Blizzard 100.

“That was my first-ever attempt at a Super Late Model race and needless to say, it didn’t turn out too good for us,” said Gresham. “We took the green and everything felt good coming up off Turn 2. I ran up on the guy in front of me through Turns 3-4 before someone five or six cars in front of me got loose. The guy in front of me also got way loose and in an effort to miss him, I turned left down the banking. The car just got out from under me and I slid into the inside retaining wall pretty hard. The impact tore up the left front suspension pretty bad and we were done for the night.”

Max Gresham

While his initial Pensacola Super Late Model effort got short-circuited, the rest of Gresham’s 2009 season has been electric. The 16-year-old high school Junior student at Woodward Academy in College Park, GA won a pair of American Speed Association Southeast Asphalt Tour events early in the year and then followed it up with four solid showings in the Joe Gibbs Racing NASCAR Camping World Series East division. Gresham ran third at Iowa Speedway and notched an outside pole and eighth-place run at New Hampshire Motor Speedway to highlight the Gibbs’ association.

Last time out, the Griffin, GA teenager raced his way from a lap down to lead late and eventually finish second in the World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park. The November 15 effort was later erased when a post-race technical violation dropped him to 38th in the final running order.

“We had a great effort there,” said Gresham. “We were good at the end of that race and I know that we will be good at the end of the race Sunday. With a little luck, we’re going to be up there racing for it at the end of the day. To win the Snowball Derby would really be something for me and my Gresham Motorsports team. If you win that race, you are the Top Dog for a whole year.”

The 42nd-Annual Snowball Derby Park will take the green flag at 10 a.m. Central Time on Thursday, December 4 with alternating rounds of Super and Late Model Stock Car practice. Friday’s action will be highlighted by qualifying for the Snowball Derby at 6 p.m. to be followed by feature event action in the Modified and Super Stock divisions. Saturday’s bill of events includes a last-chance race for the Snowball Derby, qualifying for the Snowflake 100, two last-chance races for the Snowflake 100, and the Snowflake 100 itself beginning at 7 p.m.

Sunday’s 42nd-Annual Snowball Derby will roll off at 2 p.m. Central Time Sunday. The event can be heard live on the Internet on www.Speed51.com.

“After Much Preparation, 14-Year-Old Racer Heads to Five Flags Speedway to See What the Snowflake 100 Holds for Him”

HIGH POINT, NC (December 1, 2009) – Ryan Blaney has been keeping his name in the news this season by grabbing the 2009 PASS South Super Late Model Rookie of the Year honors on the basis of 12 top-10 finishes in 13 races. His most recent outing produced an impressive sixth-place finish in the CRA Super Series North-South Shootout at Concord Speedway (NC). Now the young North Carolina racer is looking to make more headlines in the Snowflake 100 Pro Late Model race in December at Five Flags Speedway (FL), as part of the Snowball Derby weekend.

Although Blaney was crowned Rookie of the Year in the PASS South Series, he is not a rookie to Five Flags Speedway or the Snowflake 100. Blaney competed in the 2008 version of the event, where he finished 17th, and also took part in the final round of the 2009 Five Flags Speedway Pro Late Model season, bringing home a ninth-place finish.

“I wasn’t really that experienced when we went down there before,” said Blaney. “We really didn’t know that much about the cars, but I think that since I have a lot more experience now and we, as a team, have gotten a lot better, I think we can go down there and really be a contender for the victory. We have been down to Five Flags Speedway this year to race about a month ago, and the knowledge we gained on the track then will help us for the Snowflake 100.”

Having already been acquainted with the functioning style of the Snowflake last year, Blaney knows that first and foremost is the pressure to simply qualify for the race before turning the focus to the race.

“It definitely puts a little pressure on us,” said Blaney. “I’m not the strongest qualifier. I’ve had a couple of poles here and there, but we flex our muscles more during the race. We qualified pretty well there last time and I think we’ll be alright. If I’m just comfortable with it, I think we’ll be pretty good. We’ll work hard in practice and I’m confident we’ll make the show.”

Blaney’s confidence level goes beyond his ability as a driver as he puts a lot of faith in his team. After a full year of Late Model racing under his belt, Blaney is ready to etch his name in the record books as a winner in the Snowflake 100.

“If we could win the Snowflake 100, it would mean a lot. So many good guys are going down there like Kyle Busch, Bubba Pollard and Augie Grill. It would be awesome, especially to come to Five Flags and beat them at their own track where they’ve practiced and raced this whole year. It would mean a lot to me and it would be a great win for the team.”

Ryan Blaney will hit the track for the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida, on December 5th.

DAWSONVILLE, Ga. (December 1, 2009) - Chase Elliott’s rookie season piloting the No. 9 Aaron’s Dream Machine Ford is about to come to a close, and the young driver out of Dawsonville, Ga., would like nothing more than to cap it off with a strong run in the 42nd annual Snowball Derby this week at Pensacola, Florida’s legendary Five Flags Speedway.

Elliott, who turned 14 over the holiday weekend, will make his first attempt to qualify for the 300-lap Super Late Model race, considered by many as the “Daytona 500” of short track racing. The young driver will attempt to make it an exciting double header, as he also plans to enter the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 Pro Late Model companion event.

“Our main goal at the Snowball Derby is to first of all make the race and then to be competitive and have a good showing ,” said Elliott about the prestigious event. “The best Late Model drivers in the country will be here, and some NASCAR drivers – so the competition is going to be really tough. But we’ve learned a lot in our runs at Five Flags Speedway earlier this year, so hopefully that will carry over to this race. And then our goal is always to be there at the end of the race, save our equipment and stay out of trouble.

“None of this would be possible without my sponsor Aaron’s, Ricky (Turner) and Jim (Barfield), mom and dad and everyone who has supported us all year. Hopefully we can go down there, make the race and have a good ending to this awesome season.”

Ricky Turner, Elliott’s crew chief and substitute spotter when dad Bill Elliott has been away at NASCAR races this year, has guided the second-generation driver to a stellar rookie campaign, including wins in the Georgia Asphalt Series (GAS), ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour, and the PASS South Series as well as the 2009 GAS championship and Rookie of the Year Honors.

While Turner will be calling the shots from the pits this weekend, his name also graces the impressive list of past winners as the 2002 Snowball Derby champion.

“Having Ricky with me this year has been a huge help, everywhere we’ve gone,” said Elliott. “But especially here, he knows every turn and every bump on this track and he knows what it takes to run up front in this big race. I feel confident in Ricky, Jim and all the guys on the team to give me the best car they can every weekend and to work hard to keep us up front. I really hope we can get a good run here just as a ‘thank you’ for everybody helping me out this year.”

Elliott made his first career Super Late Model start at Five Flags Speedway during the August 7th Blizzard Series event and finished 18th. His other SLM start at Five Flags came on September 25th; after qualifying third and running up front, a failed engine relegated him to a disappointing 21st place finish.

The young driver had a strong run in his lone Pro Late Model start at Five Flags, starting and finishing third during the October 9th Night of Champions race.

The festivities at Five Flags Speedway kicks off Wednesday, December 2, with the 5th annual Cat Country 98.7/WEAR-TV Green Flag Party where fans will have the chance to meet their favorite drivers and enjoy live music at the track.

The on-track action starts with Thursday’s practice for the Snowball Derby and the Allen Turner Snowflake 100. The Snowball Derby hopefuls take to the track Friday for the WXBM Pole Night looking to be one of the top-30 drivers who are locked into the race on time trials.

The field for the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 will qualify and race on Saturday, December 5. Fans can also catch the last chance qualifying for the Snowball Derby.

All the action leads up to Sunday’s 42nd annual Snowball Derby 300-lap Super Late Model event.

Fans that can’t make it to Pensacola can still follow live action thanks to Speed 51 and Race Talk Radio, including live Internet radio coverage of the Snowball Derby and trackside updates throughout the four-day event. Even if they can’t make it to the track, those fans will be able to hear every lap of action courtesy of Speed 51 Radio on RaceTalkRadio.com.

And as they say in television advertising, “But wait there’s more…”

That is due to the fact that there will actually be six days of radio coverage from Snowball Derby week at Five Flags Speedway. Starting with Tuesday’s Speed 51 Radio show, to be broadcast live from Beef O’ Brady’s at 2101 West Nine Mile Road in Pensacola, and carrying on through the final post-race interviews after the Derby, there will be no shortage of airtime devoted to one of the biggest short track races of them all.

“Speed51.com has always enjoyed a great partnership with the Snowball Derby”, said SPEED TV personality Bob Dillner, who also co-owns Speed51.com and Speed 51 Radio. “Tim Bryant and his staff put on the greatest short track race of the season – bar none. Now with RaceTalkRadio.com, we will be able to bring fans who can’t travel to Pensacola the opportunity to listen to the Snowball Derby and the Snowflake 100 as well as everything leading up to those races. Together, along with Speed51.com’s Trackside Now coverage, it is the ultimate fan experience whether you are at the track or not.”

“This is a really big deal for two reasons,” said Five Flags Speedway promoter Tim Bryant. “The first is so folks who can’t travel to Florida this year can keep abreast of everything that is going on down here at the Snowball Derby. I’ve listened to numerous RaceTalkRadio broadcasts myself and can tell you firsthand what a great job they do of covering a race if you aren’t there. Maybe that will build some excitement and some of the listeners will be able to attend next year. The second thing is that fans who are here locally can listen all week long about everything leading up to the weekend. It adds to the hype of this race.”

“RaceTalkRadio.com and Speed51.com are teaming up to bring fans closer to the Snowball Derby than ever before,” said RaceTalkRadio’s Dennis Michelsen. “Fans have to experience this race at least once in their life in order to call themselves a real racing fan. But if you can’t make it down to Pensacola’s Five Flags Speedway this year, you can stay connected with the Snowball Derby right here on RaceTalkRadio.com. Nobody covers the short tracks like Speed51 and RTR.”

The following is a complete lineup of the Speed 51 Radio coverage on RaceTalkRadio.com during Snowball Derby week. All times listed are Eastern (Pensacola, FL is in the Central Time Zone and shows will begin an hour earlier).

Held in conjunction with the 42nd annual Snowball Derby, the Snowflake 100 is among the most prestigious pro-late model events of the entire season.

The partnership for the Snowflake 100 is a continuation of a multi-race sponsorship program RJM and Kleenoil entered into late summer 2009. In their first outing, Johns drove his #43 Kleenoil/PowerUp/BioMatrix Ford Fusion to a 9th place finish in the ASA late model series event at Nashville Superspeedway. The 2010 RJM/Kleenoil schedule of events will be announced shortly.

“I’m really excited about going back to Pensacola and running the Snowflake again,” said Johns. “We’ve had some really good cars there in the past, but it always seems like we’ve been in the wrong place at the wrong time and never gotten the finish we deserved. This is Kleenoil’s first trip to Pensacola and the Snowflake. I’m hoping they’re my good luck charm and we’ll go to victory lane together.”

“Ever since we got involved with Richard and the team they’ve been telling us about Pensacola and the Snowflake,” said Greg Smith of Kleenoil Filtration U.S.A. “We had a great first outing in Nashville, and we’re looking for another strong run in Pensacola. I’m excited about seeing first hand everything Richard and the team have been telling us about Pensacola and the Snowball/Snowflake weekend. I’m also looking forward to talking to some of the fellow racers about the Kleenoil system and how it can save them money in their everyday businesses.”

Kleenoil USA, Inc. manufactures and distributes the leading onboard oil recycling system. The Kleenoil bypass recycling system is available for a wide spectrum of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic and fuel systems under the Kleenoil brand name. Power Up Lubricants is a unique boundary lubricant consisting of additives for engine oil (NNL 690), gear oil (NNL 690G), hydraulic and transmission fluids (Hydra-Maxx), diesel fuel (Gen 49D), gasoline (LHP 454) and grease (Thixogrease). Bio-Matrix, is a natural oil, fuel and chemical absorbent.

In addition to his driving duties for Richard Johns Motorsports, Richard Johns, A 2005 graduate of the University of North Carolina Charlotte with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and veteran NASCAR engineer operates Richard Johns Race Engineering, which provides engineering consulting services, shock absorber construction and dyno tuning, shock rentals, track support and data acquisition services, to race teams in any series from local tracks to NASCAR.

“Georgia Racer Prepares to run both Snowflake 100 and Snowball Derby in December”

CONCORD, NC (November 23, 2009) – Tyler Millwood, who competed in the final round of 2009 Blizzard Series competition only two months ago, is gearing up to hit the track for not only next weekend’s Snowflake 100 at Five Flags Speedway but also the prestigious Snowball Derby at the Pensacola, Florida, track as well.

In preparation for running two of the biggest races of the Late Model season, Millwood and his team are checking over their cars one last time before heading south to the Florida Panhandle.

“We are mainly just going over the cars over and over again,” said Millwood. “We’re just checking them out and making sure everything is right and tight. We’re making sure every part is just as it should be so we don’t have any unexpected problems. We’ve got to do a little bit of body work after the World Crown but other than that we’re just checking everything out and making sure everything is good, nutting and bolting the cars.”

Millwood pulled double duty in both the Snowflake 100 and the Snowball Derby last year, so he knows what kind of stress is added by having to stay focused on two cars and two different races.

“It’s really not really too much extra mental stress,” explained Millwood. “But it is a lot more physical stress than anything because you’ve got to get in one car and get out of the other and continue switching back and forth all weekend. You’ve got two cars to get through tech, and qualify and then race. It’s just a lot of work to stay on top of. I wouldn’t say I’m worried about it, but there is definitely a lot physical work to be done once we get there.”

By running both events, Millwood and his team are relaying the message that they’re serious and are competing to win on one of the legendary race weekend in all of short track racing.

“It would mean a lot to me to win the Snowflake,” commented Millwood. “But to win the Snowball would be unimaginable because you’ve got all of the nation’s best racers there competing. Just to make the race is wonderful but to win it would be a dream come true.”

With his prior knowledge and experience, Millwood has formulated a strategy to bring home strong finishes in each race.

“We’re just going to go down there in a few weeks and do our best to stay on top of stuff and hope we’ve done everything right in preparing. And we’ll practice hard and work to make sure we get in both races and try to keep our noses clean and bring back two good finishes.”

“Racer Encourages Other Drivers, Teams and Fans to Visit One of America’s Favorite Restaurants While in Town”

CONCORD, NC (November 20, 2009) – A successful and winning weekend for any racecar driver normally means having a strong engine, a good car and the right set up underneath it. But equally important is a strong, knowledgeable and happy crew. And what is one thing that keeps a crew happy? Keeping them fed with good food all weekend long so they can stay focused.

The Stroupe Brothers Racing crew knows that food gets no better than what is found at Chili’s Grill and Bar Restaurant.

That is why Washington-driver Zach Niessner and the Stroupe Brothers Racing team have teamed with Chili’s Grill and Bar Restaurants of Pensacola as a primary sponsor for this year’s running of the Snowflake 100 on December 2-5 at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL, part of the Snowball Derby weekend.

“I’m excited to be associated with Chili’s for the Snowball weekend,” said Niessner, who will drive the #2 Chili’s Grill and Bar/2 Dudes Designs Chevrolet in his third Snowflake 100. “Having their help over the weekend will make things a lot better for me and for the entire team. When you are hard at work at the track for hours and hours, the last thing you are thinking about is eating. But when it comes time to leave the track, the first thing you think about it going somewhere together and getting a good meal. And at Chili’s, there are no bad meals. So to have them come on board with us for the weekend will be huge. Hopefully, we can pay them back with spreading the word about the restaurant and getting them into victory lane on Saturday night.”

Snowball Derby fans and teams can find four local Chili’s restaurants to dine at while in town for the Snowball Derby weekend, including 4781 Bayou Blvd in Pensacola, 4480 Mobile Hwy in Pensacola, 529 W. Nine Mile Road in Pensacola or 4701 Highway 90 in Pace.

Chili’s is one of the most recognized restaurants in the entire county, with over 1,400 casual dining establishments, mostly located in the United States and Canada. Chili’s has restaurants in all 50 states and 24 international locations.

Chili’s is best known for their American food menu that has a Tex-Mex influence. The restaurant has everything from their famous “Big Mouth Burgers” to fajitas and quesadillas, baby back ribs and steaks to seafood and Buffalo wings. The menu also contains a large number of appetizers, including the ever-popular homemade salsa, as well as several mouth-watering desserts. Chili’s also offers a full bar that serves a variety of alcoholic drinks.

“There is something for everyone at Chili’s, but my favorites are definitely the burgers, the steaks or the quesadillas,” added Niessner. “But really, there isn’t anything on the menu that isn’t good. That is why we are going to encourage everyone we know to go to Chili’s and eat either before or after the races. When you come into a town that you don’t really know for a weekend like we do so often, you always try and figure out where to go eat. But almost everyone has been to a Chili’s somewhere before, so when you see a Chili’s Restaurant, you know what you are going to get. You don’t have to worry about the quality of the food, because you know you are going to go there and get a good meal and get it at a great price.

“On top of everything else, people in the racing community have always liked to support the sponsors that support local racing. So we are going to do our best to hand out some coupons and get people into the restaurant. They are supporting short track racing, so race fans need to support them. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.”

Like many drivers, Niessner’s career started in Go-Karts. Zach competed in the NASCAR ranks around the Pacific Northwest and became the youngest driver to qualify for a NASCAR Elite Northwest Series race. Niessner also ran the ASA National Tour, moved to Indianapolis, signed with SS Racing and ran a part-time schedule as a teammate to three-time ASA National Champion Butch Miller. In 2004, Niessner started his own Zach Niessner Racing. An ASA pole at USA International Speedway and pole and third-place finish in the NASCAR Southwest Series event at Irwindale led up to a race win at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, where Zach came in and beat the regulars of the NASCAR Southeast Series, picking up the legendary guitar that goes with winning at the famed high-banked half-mile.

Niessner has had an up and down history at the Snowflake 100. In 2005, Niessner qualified third for the event while racing for SS Racing and ran in the top-five all night long before falling victim to a mid-race accident. In 2008, Niessner ran the event for 5K Motorsports and found himself as high as third late in the race before having to pit under green for tires. He finished 14th.

Niessner will also have sponsorship from Victory Circle Communications, 2 Dudes Designs, Short Track Enterprises and The Decal Source for his Snowflake run.

“I’ve got a lot of great sponsors that are going to help us out. Victory Circle Communications and their association with Racing Radios is an easy fit with me, because I’ve always run Racing Radios in the past. They do such great work. And The Decal Source has made this #2 look really good. I’m pretty sure the car even won the best appearing car award its first time out at the PASS South event in Hickory.

“This year, I feel like we will have the best shot to win. I’m with the best team I’ve been with yet. And I’ve got some of my closest friends who have been working with me for years in racing here to help me. I feel like I have more freedom to do what I want to do and that will mean things should go much better. The competition is always tough, but we’ll do alright.”

When not behind the wheel, Niessner co-owns and runs Short Track Enterprises, in Ellensburg, Washington. STE is a one-stop shop for all a driver’s and team’s racing needs in the Pacific Northwest. Headed by racers Travis Bennett and Niessner, STE performs a variety of services for racers who are in need of a little “help,” from car setup to full vehicle maintenance and preparation. STE can build a new car from the ground up, help get the correct setup for a specific track, repair a wrecked car and fabricate any parts that will help give an added advantage. With knowledge that spans decades and plenty of wins and championships between the owners, STE is becoming the source for running up front and winning in the Northwest and beyond. STE can be found on the web at www.shorttrackenterprises.com.
