2012 NSCS Daytona 500 Qualifying Results & Gatorade Duel at Daytona Starting Lineups

2012 NSCS 99 car (Carl Edwards) - Photo Credit: Chris Graythen/Getty Images for NASCAR Unlike qualifying for other NSCS point races, the Daytona 500 has a unique qualifying method where only the top-two fastest in qualifying are locked in, and the rest of the starting lineup will be determined on how the drivers finish in the Gatorade Duel at Daytona (two 150-mile races) on Thursday. Those that are guaranteed a starting position are those that were in the top-35 2011 owner points; as well as, the top two non-top 35 teams finishers in each Duel race. The remaining drivers to make up the starting lineup revert back to Sunday’s fastest qualifying times; as well as, a spot left open for being the most recent past champion.
