“That’s just hats off to KHI [Kevin Harvick Inc.] for giving me the great equipment they’ve been giving me and the great WIX Filters that get the air to the carburetor and run fast. What an up and down year for me to win this thing for the third time means a lot. It’s just an honor. We’ll take it with pride and keep running WIX Filters.”
HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO RUN UP FRONT AND LEAD LAPS IN THE NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES?
“The competition level is so big right now in this Camping World Truck Series. Any given day anybody can win. To lead the laps to get this award means a lot to me. This is a compliment to the team.”
YOU HAD SOME PRETTY STRONG FINISHES DOWN THE STRETCH.
“We needed to end this way. This is a testament to my whole team never putting their head down and working hard. One time in the race I looked up and I think there was like 20 to go and there were five KHI trucks that Kevin [Harvick, team owner] sold. That’s just a testament to my boss and all those guys that work back at the shop. It’s a lot of fun and I’m just glad that this year is over, that we can just start fresh at Daytona. I’m very proud of these guys and how much they changed on this truck from the first day that we got here to this morning’s practice. My hat is off to NASCAR for even getting a practice in for us. We’ve got a lot of good teams coming out and a lot of new faces and it’s going to be a lot of fun again.”
YOU HAD A GREAT RUN BUT DIDN’T NEED THAT LAST CAUTION.
“Well I don’t know about the last caution or not. He was running me down. I was just getting too tight. Man I was sitting there wide open. I don’t know where he gets that burst on the bottom and everything but I was wide open and he snuck up beside of me and turned down. That must have freed him up pretty good.”
DOES THIS GOOD RUN TONIGHT GIVE YOU A LITTLE BIT OF MOMENTUM THROUGH THE WINTER AND INTO NEXT SEASON?
“You know what’s so good about these guys is they never put their head down. They kept their head up. They know we’ve got a great team and a great truck and I am just so proud to drive for these guys at KHI and all these great sponsors that we have. We knew we could run good. It was just that the truck was a little too tight. We were really free and the guys switched it over completely and to come back and run second. Kyle hits the fence and comes back to win it. I don’t understand that bit it was a great day. I’ve got to thank WIX and Georgia Boots, everybody to be part of this.”
