A win in the August 1, Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 will tie multiple records

Only two drivers (Bobby Allison and Tim Richmond) have ever won three races in a row at Pocono, but with Hamlin’s history at Pocono, he has a good shot of adding his name to the Pocono Raceway record book. His four wins ties him with Jeff Gordon, Tim Richmond, Rusty Wallace and Darrell Waltrip for second place in career wins at Pocono. A win in the August 1, Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 will match Bill Elliott’s record five wins at Pocono.
Hamlin will get his chance when Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 practice begins at Noon on Friday July 30 with NASCAR Sprint Cup Qualifying set for 3:40PM. Additional Sprint Cup practice will be followed by the Pocono Mountains 125, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event (Denny Hamlin will also compete in this Truck Series race) and the Weis Markets 125, ARCA Racing Series Event on Saturday July 31.
On Sunday August 1, grandstand gates will open at 9:00AM, pre-race activities begin at 11:00AM, all leading up to the 1:00PM start of the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500.
Sunday grandstand tickets start at just $45, for ticket information call the Pocono Raceway ticket office at 1-800-RACEWAY or visit www.poconoraceway.com
