Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Richmond International Raceway – September 9, 2011

- Kyle Busch earned his eighth win of the season in Friday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at
Richmond International Raceway.

- Busch led four times for 74 laps (of 250) to record his 51st career victory and extended his all-time NNS wins record.

- Ryan Truex (fourth) and Kenny Wallace (fifth) also earned top-five results for Toyota. It marked a career-best finish for Truex, and Wallace’s first top -five behind the wheel of a Camry.

- Camry drivers Joe Nemechek (10th), Michael Annett (11th), Steve Wallace (16th) and Brian Scott were also in the field at Richmond.

- Five Camry drivers are currently in the top-15 in the unofficial NNS point standings following 27 of 34 races in the 2011 season — K. Wallace (seventh), S. Wallace (eighth), Annett (ninth), Scott (10th) and Nemechek (13th).

KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 1st

Did you think you had a race-winning car tonight?

“Carl (Edwards) was certainly really good there. I thought at first we were probably a third or fourth-place car and then we kind of worked on it and made it a second or third-place car and then there at the end we were keeping up with Carl and thought it was about a second-place car and that final pit stop my guys really put the pressure on them knowing how quick they’ve been on pit road all night and they did it once again. We were able to get off first and I think Carl came off fourth.

When we had the restart there he got mired back in traffic a little bit and kind of gave us some time and some room to get out and then when he and Ricky (Stenhouse) started racing there a little bit obviously it took them a little bit to get by and we kind of stretched it out somewhat but not a lot. These cars are all pretty equal. It’s certainly hard to have an advantage but any time you can get out-front and stay out-front certainly I felt like that helped. Jason (Ratcliff, crew chief) and these guys made some awesome adjustments all night making the car better for us and just making it a little more drivable. Every run we got closer and then there at the last run we just had track position and a good car.”

Did you have to be patient in tonight’s race?

“Yeah, Jason Ratcliff (crew chief) and these guys — that’s why we just keep digging and we just kept trying to do what we can with these Z-Line Designs Camrys. I can’t say enough about this team and the guys on pit road, Jason making all the adjustments tonight — what a polish job — and again Z-Line is on here with us and having fun and NOS Energy Drink, Toyota, Nationwide Insurance and my wife is around here somewhere, I think. She didn’t want to get wet. Thank Pizza Ranch, Gillette and the fans, too and all of those that we lost on 9/11 weekend. This is for those people and also for their families and all the men and women serving across the country, certainly it means a lot to give us our freedom to come out here to have fun and enjoy it and to celebrate like this in times when its good for us and may not be so great for others.”

How much confidence do you have in Jason Ratcliff as your crew chief?

“When it started out as rough as it did tonight I wasn’t sure that we were going to be able to get anything but a third or fourth place finish. Jason (Ratcliff, crew chief) has got the smarts on him. Him and Dave Rogers (NSCS crew chief) both those guys work together so much and they really help me a lot. I wouldn’t be here without the work of great people all around me. It’s cool to have guys like that and to come out here and celebrate another win — win number 51 for Rowdy.”

Why was Carl Edwards able to beat you throughout much of the race?

“We were certainly working on that through the whole night and trying to get our car better. I think it was just we were too loose up off the corner. The first run of the race I was really loose all the way through and then we’d get tight and then I’d start loosing ground in the center. There at the end of the race I was actually really good and could put the power down off the corners and sort of got my gap that I had. But the last eight or five laps there Carl (Edwards) was catching me there again I think and just getting a little bit tight in the center of the corner so not being able to roll it as good as we wanted to. Our car didn’t stay as consistent throughout a run as theirs did, but certainly there at the end the track position mattered and just being able to get out there and get a little bit of a gap helped us.”

JASON RATCLIFF, crew chief, No. 18 Z-Line Designs Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Were you the car to beat at the race’s midpoint?

“No, we weren’t. Big thanks to the Z-Line Designs team tonight on pit road. These guys did a whale of a job. I mean good pit stops. Kyle (Busch) hung in there and kept communicating well. We probably had a third-place car to start the night. We just kept getting better and kept getting better and, man, the pit crew did what they needed to do in the end and, of course, Kyle Busch did what he did when he needed to do it there at the end. Of course, we’ve got to remember all of our military and all of our armed service people that give us the freedom to come out here and do this, especially on this weekend as we think about all the great people that we miss and then all the great people that suit up and were very courageous to do what they did and they continue to do it today. And that’s the freedom that we have to come out here and race and I’m very thankful for that.”

How much did the track change tonight?

“Usually you kind of get a feel for what it’s going to be in the morning. Nationwide cars always practice in the morning and then the Cup cars go out there and you pretty much run a full race out there on the race track so it’s always different, but you kind of anticipate what it’s going to be — how much to adjust your car — from the previous notes we had from this race track. Tonight, I anticipated that forward drive would be a big deal tonight and we made some adjustments for that, but it was a much bigger deal when the race started than I thought it would be. That was the main thing that we had to work on all night and I didn’t feel like it would be. The center would be what I thought we would need to work on all night. It kind of caught me off guard and went a little further than I anticipated on losing drive off from practice to race. Some of it can just be this new car. We don’t have a lot of laps on this new car — just our third event here on this new car. We’re still learning with it, but the track went further tonight than I anticipated.”

RYAN TRUEX, No. 20 Schick Xtreme 3 Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 4th

How was your race?

“It was crazy. I just can’t thank these guys enough for giving me such a good car. It’s just so cool to be here. This is my first top-five and to have Schick Xtreme 3 onboard and everybody here it’s pretty cool. I’m having a lot of fun out here and being able to run good is pretty cool so I’ve got to thank these guys and just thank everybody for sticking behind me.”

What does this top-five finish mean to you?

“What a pleasure to drive this car. It’s so cool to be able to run this good and have such a good crew and team and everyone behind me. To have Schick Xtreme 3 on the car and just everybody that’s behind me has put a lot into this to have me out here running and it’s really, really cool. To get a reward like this is just really nice.”

How did your car handle during race?

“Those long runs were hard. Our car was loose, but I just had to really be easy on the right-rear tire and try to conserve tires so I could be there at the end. We did that and were able to pass guys longer in the run so it was cool.”

How were you able to recover and have a career-best night?

“It helps when you’ve got a good car. These guys at Joe Gibbs Racing just work so hard and they build such great race cars. It’s just a pleasure to be able to drive them and be out there racing with these guys. We started off and I had to from 42nd and I just took my time. I was patient. I made my way up to the front. Like I said, we had an awesome car. I can’t thank these guys enough. Schick Xtreme3 — I’ve got to thank them for being on the car. Our car looked awesome and it’s just a good night. I’m happy.”

What were you able to learn in tonight’s race?

“I think it helped me a lot with just tire strategy and being able to save my stuff. In the long runs, we were really good and it was just from me saving the right rear the whole beginning of the run. We weren’t the fastest car in the short runs, but as we would run and keep going and making laps, we would start catching those guys and they would all come back to us. Can’t thanks these guys enough and just happy to be here.”

KENNY WALLACE, No. 09 Federated Auto Parts Toyota Camry, RAB Racing with Brack Maggard

Finishing Position: 5th

How was your race car tonight?

“I’m just mentally happy to be back in the top-10. That was my top-five. Eleven top-10s this year. Mentally, that’s exciting to me after three years of misery. We had a really fast race car. I’m up there racing Penske, Roush, Gibbs and they just outrun me up off the corner. I could get in through the middle and they’d pull me up off the corner. That was a really good run for our team. Our pit stops weren’t where we needed them, but I want to thank Federated Auto Parts for sponsoring myrace car. They mean a lot to us so if you find a Federated Auto Parts go and by some parts from .”

Are you excited to get a top-five finish?

“It was a good night for the Federated Auto Parts Toyota Camry. It’s nice to have a top-five and my 11th top-10 of the year. It means a lot to me. We put a lot of effort into this year to come back. This top-five means a lot. We’ve given away about three or four this year so I’m really excited.”

How hard did you fight for this top-five tonight?

“I drove every lap as hard as I could drive. When you’re racing Penske, Gibbs and Roush, they’re just good teams. They beat us out of the pits every time and I just had to really muscle my way past the cars that are beating me out of the pits. We made a couple of changes to the car, but it was mostly air pressure. We worked really hard. This is the same car that ran top- three all night here last time.”

How were you able to post your first top-five since 2008?

“Hard work and perseverance. I want to thank Federated Auto Parts and my Toyota Camry. That’s the key to it — a team determined like me losing weight and getting physically fit. Mentally this is a big comeback for me. I’m excited.”

JOE NEMECHEK, No. 87 NEMCO Toyota Camry, NEMCO Motorsports

Finishing Position: 10th

MICHAEL ANNETT, No. 62 Freightliner Toyota Camry, Rusty Wallace Racing

Finishing Position: 11th

STEVE WALLACE, No. 66 5-Hour Energy Toyota Camry, Rusty Wallace Racing

Finishing Position: 16th

BRIAN SCOTT, No. 11 Shore Lodge Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 32nd

What happened to take you out of the race?

“I just got turned by the 88 (Aric Almirola) getting into turn 3. We were having a rough night. We didn’t have our No. 11 Shore Lodge Toyota where we wanted it. The guys were doing an awesome job in the pits, gaining me position and keeping us in the game. We were making adjustments and it was going to be a night we had to battle. Kevin (Kidd, crew chief) was making good adjustments, we were starting to hit on it and unfortunately we’re not going to see how our night goes.”

Are you upset with Aric Almirola after the contact?

“Yeah. He’s (Aric Almirola) ran into the back of me a couple of times on restarts. Bristol comes to mind. I don’t know what it is, but when you turn somebody before you get into the corner, you hit the outside wall pretty hard. It was a tough hit. Killed our car. We weren’t having the night that we wanted with our No. 11 Shore Lodge Toyota. Guys were doing an awesome job on pit road keeping us in the game. Kevin (Kidd, crew chief) was making good adjustments. We were starting to hit on it, but now we’re not going to see how our night ends.”

“This is so cool. To come out here and to win in our last race and to do it in the style that we did it — it wasn’t without some excitement, that’s for sure. I can’t thank these guys here enough at Kyle Busch Motorsports — everyone like Rick Ren (competition director) and Eric Phillips (crew chief). Eric made some great race calls today and kept my head on and got me back in the race. I can’t thank Traxxas enough, Toyota, M&M’s, Flexco, NOS Energy Drink, Gillette, Camping World for this series and all the fans. It’s fun to come out here and participate in the truck races. We’re still looking for sponsors to do it some more next year. It’s real tough. Hopefully, we can find some.”

Where does this win rank on your list?

“I don’t know. I’ve lost track. For me, it’s great to be able to get this opportunity and come out here and race in this series, to race with these competitors. Guys like Ron Hornaday and Todd Bodine. Congratulations to Todd (Bodine) on the driver’s championship. Like I said, I can’t thank everybody on this team enough. They do such a phenomenal job. We barely made it to Daytona with a couple trucks. We went through a lot of adversity. These guys worked some long hours this year. They’ve done a phenomenal job for me. I just can’t thank them enough. Thank the SPEED Channel too for helping me with my announcement earlier this year and be able to cover our series as good as you guys do it. Thank you.”

How concerned were you after the contact with Johnny Sauter?

“I was pretty concerned. I just knew that we were gonna be back in traffic and my truck wasn’t great out front. It was really loose. But back in traffic, Eric (Phillips, crew chief) and these guys made another great call to tighten it up, and we were able to have a really good driving truck there at the end to come back up through there. There was a lot of trucks, man. You go back and watch the replay on that second to last restart or whatever it was, I don’t even know where I was. You go out there and you try to get the win and you try to do what you can and hopefully these guys celebrate for a long time. They deserve it an awful lot.”

Finishing Position: 4th

How does it feel to be a two-time NCWTS champion?

“I never thought that I’d be a one-time champion, let alone two-time champion. I don’t know what to say. It’s because of these guys up on the stage and all the guys back at the shop that (aren’t) here, I appreciate the hard work. It’s hard in a career to be a part of a group that cares as much as this one, and is as good as this one. I’m fortunate now, this is our fifth year together and we’re going strong and I count my blessings every day to be a part of a group like this — that care and want to win and want to run up front and can do it every week.”

What did you guys do different this year compared to last year to win the title?

“We didn’t really do anything different. Last year, we just had bad luck. Wrong place, wrong time. A lot of times, we just weren’t handling well. But, everybody stuck it out. They dug deep, they dug within themselves to build trucks last winter. That is one thing, last winter we went to work and re-did our trucks, re-engineered them. We made them a lot better. All the guys at KHI (Kevin Harvick Inc.) are the ones that put us to that because they raised the bar so high.”

How does it feel to win the championship?

“It’s pretty awesome. Everybody at Germain Racing has done such a great job all year long. Great trucks, Jr.’s (Mike Hillman, Jr., crew chief) done a heck of a job with this team. He’s the backbone. He’s the reason we run like this. I’m proud to be a part of this race team. It’s not often in a career that you get to be a part of this, and we’ve been fortunate now for five years, and have great owners and great guys that work for us, and I couldn’t be prouder of this team.”

What does it mean to have the Germain family put their confidence in this team?

“When three guys get together and decide, ‘We’ve got enough confidence in this race team and we’ve got enough confidence in our driver and we’re going to put the funds behind it to do this,’ that says a lot for the people that work for them and the respect that they have for those people. And it goes both ways. We respect the hell out of them. They’re great guys. They’ve put their heart and soul into this team and this year came out of their pocket. We had Valvoline on board for four races, but they basically came out of their pocket to pay for this season and to be able to come out of here with four wins and a championship, I’m glad we could pay them back with that.”

How important are Mike Hillman (general manager) and Mike Hillman Jr. (crew chief) to this team?

“They’re about as ‘racer’ as you can get. Everybody on this team. Obviously, the Hillmans are the backbone. Mike (Hillman) Sr. (general manager) got this thing going and (Mike Hillman) Jr. came in and took over and he’s done a hell of a job with this team. He does more than just work on this 30 truck. He helps take care of this whole team. It is a family. It’s hard to describe when you get a group of guys together. We all squabble and quarrel and have our differences, but every family does. But, the one thing about this group is if one of them falls down, there’s three of them there to pick him up and brush him off. That’s what it takes to be champions.”

How was your race tonight?

“We had a good truck, it just wouldn’t take off very good. Our truck was really good after about 10 or so laps on the tires and we just didn’t have the speed we needed right at the get-go, which is a shame because that’s what it came down to at the end, was the restarts. I’m proud of my guys. We had a great year. We won a couple races, finished second in the points. It was really, really a great year. We were very consistent. Had a lot of top-fives, a lot of top-10s. I wanted to win tonight bad, though.”

Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Talladega Superspeedway – October 30, 2010

- Kyle Busch earned his sixth win of the season in Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at
Alabama’s Talladega Superspeedway.

- Busch led three times for a total of eight (of 95) laps in today’s race and came to the checkered flag just two-thousandths second ahead of fellow Tundra driver Aric Almirola.

- The victory marked the second for Busch at Talladega (October 2009), fourth for a Tundra at the Alabama oval and 13th
win this season for Tundra.

- Timothy Peters (seventh) and Craig Goess Jr. (10th) also posted top-10 results for Toyota at the 2.66-mile superspeedway.

- Tundra drivers David Starr (11th), Mike Skinner (15th), Todd Bodine (18th), Chris Fontaine (19th), Max Papis (27th) and
Justin Lofton (33rd) were also in the field.

- Bodine continues to lead the unofficial NCWTS driver standings following Martinsville, holding a 216-point advantage
over Almirola. Peters (seventh), Skinner (eighth) and Starr (ninth) are also in the top-10 in points after 22 of 25 races.
With the win, Kyle Busch Motorsports now leads Germain Racing in the unofficial NCWTS owner standings by 42 points
with three races remaining in 2010.

KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 Traxxas Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports

Finishing Position: 1st

What did you think of the move you made to win the race?

“That was cool. I didn’t want to do it. Man, Aric (Almirola) deserved to win the race and deserved it from last year. I had Johnny (Sauter) pushing on me and I was getting loose through the tri-oval – just trying to stay with the 51 (Almirola). I turned it back to the bottom to try to straighten it back out and I was still loose alongside of him. I thought the 13 (Sauter) was going to my bottom so I wanted to block him. It was just crazy there at the end. I can’t thank Traxxas, Toyota Tundra – these guys do an awesome job here at Kyle Busch Motorsports. M&M’s, Flexco, NOS Energy Drink, Gillette and my good friend Jim Hunter who passed away this morning. Thoughts go to him and his family and everybody. Real proud of all these guys and this is a cool one.”

Did you want to stay behind Aric Almirola at the end of the race?

“That’s exactly what I thought – I was like, I just want to push him (Aric Almirola). I got under his back bumper off of four and we came to the tri-oval and I started getting loose. I thought I had Johnny (Sauter) pushing me so I kind of steered up a little bit to try to save it. I couldn’t go too high because Johnny was going to go to my bottom so I had to bring it back down. I got underneath Aric and at that point you just have to stay in the throttle and keep digging. I don’t even know where the yellow line was. For as loose as my stuff was through there, I was trying to save it and get away from those guys and not spin out. All in all, great job by these guys.

Everybody with Camping World and all the great folks – the fans in the stands is cool too.”

Do you feel like the NCWTS owner’s championship is almost wrapped up?

“It’s not over until it’s over. It ain’t over. I don’t know where they are right now, but we feel comfortable with where we’re at and to win today with our Traxxas Tundra and to go to Homestead with Traxxas on board and of course Interstate Batteries at Texas next week and then Phoenix is going to be Z-Line Designs again. It’s going to be cool. We’re looking forward to these last four races and it’s going to be a shootout and a fight to the end.”

Was your plan to make a move in the final lap of the race for the win?

“I know what happened here last year with Aric (Almirola) pushing me to the win. That is all I was planning on. I was going down the backstretch thinking stay behind him, stay behind him. If you get two wide you just make such a big hole in the air for all the guys behind you to get you. I came to the tri-oval pushing Aric and I thought the 13 (Johnny Sauter) was on my butt and I was loose through the tri-oval so I started chasing it up a little bit. Once I got out there I was like, ‘Man, I’m too far, the 13′s going to go to my inside.’

I saw him in my left mirror so I kind of ducked back down and tried to block the bottom. I got underneath Aric and then I beat him to the line obviously. I hate it that Aric went through that, but this was a great race truck right here. This Kyle Busch Motorsports Traxxas Tundra was awesome and these guys did a great job. We didn’t qualify up front, kind of as we expected, but it was fast when it mattered in the race there. We stayed out of trouble and luckily we made it here. This is very cool.”

Were you aware of how close you were to the yellow line?

“I was so busy watching the mirror and the 13 (Johnny Sauter) truck and seeing where he was and trying not to run into the side of the 51 and trying to get away. I was just sideways. The yellow line never even crossed my mind there at the end.”

How was your race overall today?

“As far as our race day goes – obviously it was pretty exciting. In the beginning there we just were kind of hanging out and biding our time kind of riding. We were a little hot so we just decided that we would just stay back there and not worry too much. Once we got to the first pit stop, we took some tape off the grill and stuff like that and was able to get the thing a little cooler for running in the draft. Once we did that, we were just biding our time and working out way up through traffic. Matt Crafton and I worked well together on the outside. I remember the 2 (Ken Schrader) and I worked together on the outside really well a couple times.

All in all you really had to be smart up on the outside lane to get the draft to really work and to get up towards the front. Jason White at the end of the race was a really good friend for us and he did a great job getting us out front and getting the lead and just kind of racing with the 51 (Aric Almirola) there and the 13 (Johnny Sauter) coming to the checkers. It was crazy and it was a battle. I was just trying to keep the thing straight and luckily I was able to do that.”

Is this the way driver’s like to win races?

“It’s pretty spectacular the way you come down towards the end and you have no idea how it’s going to play out and then all of the sudden you cross the start-finish line and you’re wondering, ‘Did I win? What happened? Who crossed the start-finish line first?’

It’s pretty amazing the way this place and the way it races and what happens and how close the finishes can be. You run 250 miles or tomorrow you run 500 miles and the finishes are as close as they are. We remember, I don’t, but I’m sure some fellow people remember back in the 60s or 70s races being finished by a lap – the winner won by a lap or something like that. It’s pretty amazing and for how tight competition is nowadays and what it comes to, but with myself and Kyle Busch Motorsports and our Traxxas Tundra today – I’m ecstatic.

I’m real proud of the way the guys worked. We were frustrated yesterday. We didn’t qualify anywhere near where we thought we should have or could have. Unfortunately, we didn’t quite get the speed out of it by ourselves that we would like to. Hopefully we go to Daytona in the spring and bring the same piece back or build a new one or whatever and maybe we can find some more speed.”

ERIC PHILLIPS, crew chief, No. 18 Traxxas Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports

How was today’s race from your perspective today?

“It was pretty uneventful for us other than a few pit stop issues. Made a decision on some shock settings today. Couldn’t get the tires off when we first came in the pits. Just told the guys to take their time and make sure they did the pit stop right and they did. Was able to get the truck back up front at the end.”

ARIC ALMIROLA, No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota Tundra, Billy Ballew Motorsports

Finishing Position: 2nd

Do you feel like you should have been the winner of today’s race?

“I was at his (Kyle Busch) mercy. He could have went to my outside, he could have went to my inside. I tried to do everything I could to try to protect as long as I could. I think NASCAR maybe should look at that. It looked like he went below the yellow line right there before the start-finish line. It was really close, but I hate to lose one like that. These guys work awfully hard on our speedway stuff. To lose one like that is bad. He’s below the yellow line.”

Were you planning to work with Kyle Busch in the closing laps?

“We had talked about it and we knew we wanted to stay together. We had good trucks and we saw that in practice yesterday. I knew I had a good truck yesterday. I pushed Johnny (Sauter) to the lead and I felt like it was time to go. It’s disappointing if they give that win to him (Kyle Busch). I feel like I let these guys down, but I don’t know what else I could have done.”

What is your perspective of today’s race?

“My perspective is that I won the race. NASCAR’s perspective is that we ran second. I guess today we lose. I’m disappointed in that because I felt like we had a truck capable of winning. I knew we did all day. I rode around in the back and tried to be smart and take care of my stuff. When it was time to go – I went. I pushed Johnny Sauter up there to the lead and I took the lead myself. I felt like we had the truck to win the race. I feel like I let my guys down, but I really don’t know what else I could have done.

He (Kyle Busch) had shown signs of going high so I attempted to block high and as I was turning back low, he was back under me and it say plain as day in the rule book that you can’t advance your position by going below the yellow line. Now I guess I have not seen the proper replay, but the one that I saw, I felt like he went below the yellow line to advance his position and he ran a shorter distance and he beat me by two one-thousandths of a second. Call it what you will – we finished second.”

What were you told my NASCAR about the yellow line rule?

“I just went and talked to him and the reason that they gave me was that Kyle’s (Busch) truck was sideways when he was next to me and that’s what made him go below the yellow line. I didn’t force him below the yellow line, they didn’t tell me that I did. They said that he went below the yellow line because he was trying to regain control of his truck. I guess they’re going to have to do a better job elaborating in the driver’s meeting on what’s acceptable and what’s not acceptable. I guess if you get out of control and you go below the yellow line and save it and still gain a position that is okay. I’m still confused and I’m still disappointed. I probably shouldn’t even be doing interviews right now because I’m obviously biased because I finished second.”

TIMOTHY PETERS, No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra, Red Horse Racing

Finishing Position: 7th

CRAIG GOESS JR., No. 46 Greenville Toyota Tundra, Team Gill Racing

Finishing Position: 10th

DAVID STARR, No. 81 Zachry Toyota Tundra, SS Green Light Racing

Finishing Position: 11th

MIKE SKINNER, No. 5 Exide Toyota Tundra, Randy Moss Motorsports

Finishing Position: 15th

How was your truck in today’s race?

“Our Exide Tundra was really good today. We started in the back and it didn’t take any time at all to get to the front. We just sat there and rode – 10th, 12th, 15th – whatever it was. We used patience and tried to sum up who we were going to work with at the end of the race. Our Tundra would push good and it wouldn’t pull good. You always make plans that you’re going to work together and you’re going to do this and that. We all thought we were going to work together. Talladega and Daytona – as soon as the green flag comes out, all that pretty much goes out the window.”

TODD BODINE, No. 30 Valvoline Toyota Tundra, Germain Racing

Finishing Position: 18th

What happened that took you out of the race?

“That’s a shame that things like that happen. I think the 95 (Grant Enfinger) just gave me the shove from hell and thought he was going to bump me somewhere. Turned me sideways and caused a big wreck. My guys being the great crew they are were trying to put the truck back together to pick up a few spots.”

CHRIS FONTAINE, No. 84 Glenden Enterprises Toyota Tundra, Glenden Enterprises

Finishing Position: 19th

MAX PAPIS, No. 9 GEICO Toyota Tundra, Germain Racing

Finishing Position: 27th

JUSTIN LOFTON, No. 7 visitPIT.com Toyota Tundra, Red Horse Racing

Finishing Position: 33rd

How disappointed are you to be out of the race so early?

“It’s real unfortunate for everyone over on the visitPIT.com Toyota Tundra. We had a really good truck. I was just sitting there playing around. I would jump up out of the pack and fall back – then move back up. Real proud of all the guys and all the hard work that they put into it. Real unfortunate that it had to end this way.”

Event: EnjoyIllinois.com 225 (Round 17 of 25)

Series: NASCAR Camping World Truck Series

Location: Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill. (1.5-mile oval)

Start / Finish: 4th / 1st (Running, completed 154 of 154 laps)

Winner: Kyle Busch of Kyle Busch Motorsports in a green-white-checker finish (Toyota)

Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 18 Traxxas Toyota Tundra for Kyle Busch Motorsports, continued his winning ways on Friday night by claiming victory in the EnjoyIllinois.com 225 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill.

Coming off of an historic run last week at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in which Busch became the first driver to sweep all three NASCAR touring series races in one weekend – the Camping World Truck Series race on Wednesday night, the Nationwide Series race on Friday night and the Sprint Cup Series race on Saturday night at the .533-mile oval – the driver of the No. 18 Traxxas Toyota Tundra for Kyle Busch Motorsports didn’t disappoint by driving into Chicagoland’s victory lane for the second consecutive year in the Truck race.

It was Busch’s fourth straight NASCAR win, his fourth Truck Series victory this season, and his second Truck Series win at Chicago. Busch is undefeated at Chicago in the Truck Series.

“I can’t thank Traxxas enough,” said Busch, who now has 79 victories in NASCAR’s top three divisions (Sprint Cup –19, Nationwide – 40, Camping World Truck – 20). “The fastest name in radio control to get with the fastest driver, I guess, tonight, is pretty cool to come to victory lane with these guys the first time out. I can’t wait for the next two that we’ve got at Talladega and Homestead. It’s going to be fun, man. This Toyota Tundra was awesome. It was fun to drive and it was challenging. Todd (Bodine) ran me down and was probably going to pass me there, but I got a run on the outside and I think he slipped a little bit. It’s always fun to race these trucks. Marquis Jets, Gillette, all of the guys on this team, Flexco, they do an awesome job for us. NOS Energy Drink and M&M’s, as well. We’re really proud of everybody here.”

Although Busch dominated the race and led all but 33 of the 154 laps at Chicagoland, the victory wasn’t as easy as it might have seemed for him and his No. 18 Kyle Busch Motorsports team. The Las Vegas native had to battle through traffic on two consecutive restarts and he had to withstand a late-race challenge by point leader Todd Bodine in the closing laps. But in the end, Busch’s No. 18 Traxxas Toyota Tundra was too strong.

After leading 121 laps, Kyle Busch celebrates in victory lane at Chicagoland Speedway. - Photo Credit: Streeter Lecka / Getty Images for NASCAR

“It was really fun out there tonight,” Busch said. “This Traxxas Toyota Tundra was awesome. It was so fun racing Todd (Bodine) like that. He had enough to hang with us, he just didn’t have enough to get by us. It was awesome to race with those guys. Eric (Phillips, crew chief) and Rick Ren (director of competition) did a great job for us tonight, as well. It’s just really fun to drive these trucks. I love coming to Chicago. It’s kind of like a second home for me. I look forward to coming back here next year.”

After starting fourth on Friday night, Busch wasted no time making his way to the front of the field as he was at the point by lap 13.

The first hiccup of the night for Busch came at lap 81 when he brought his No. 18 Traxxas Toyota to the attention of his crew under caution for four tires, an air pressure adjustment and fuel. Unfortunately, Busch lost five spots on pit road due to a problem with the gas can connecting with the fuel tank.

But restarting sixth didn’t concern Busch as he survived one more caution period before retaking the lead on lap 98.

Busch maintained the top spot until the caution flag came out once again at lap 126. The leaders all decided to pit under caution and while Busch and his No. 18 Traxxas Toyota team opted to take four fresh tires and fuel, five trucks that left pit road before Busch opted for either no tires or only two tires to gain track position. Busch restarted sixth on lap 127, but didn’t stay there for long as he gained three spots in just one lap. And, by the time he crossed the start-finish line on the one lap later, the Traxxas Toyota had retaken the lead.

The Las Vegas native would have one more challenge when a late-race caution forced the race into overtime and a green-white-checker finish. On lap 152, Busch restarted on the outside and held off a challenge by point leader and runner-up finisher Bodine, beating him to the checkered flag by .186 of a second.

“We had issues with the fuel hookup trying to get in there on that second stop, but the guys did a nice job there on pit road. They had good stops tonight,” Busch said. “I was concerned (when the last caution came out). I remember last year. It was really tough to get away from side-by-side. This year, I got clear on him (Bodine) just going down the front straightaway, getting into turn one, there. From there on out, I was worried that he would get a draft on me. These trucks, man, they draft so easily. That’s how I ran him down and got to him the first time. He just didn’t quite have enough to pass us. He had enough to hang with us all night and it was fun, man. Really cool to be out here. I’ve got to thank the fans, thank Camping World and, of course, I don’t have my Electric sunglasses on but I’d like to thank those guys, too. We’re going for five in Kentucky next week, so watch out.”

While Busch is not running the full Camping World Truck Series schedule, the No. 18 Toyota is competing for the owner’s title and maintained the second position in the standings, just 48 points behind the first-place No. 30 truck of Germain Racing.

Johnny Sauter finished third behind Busch and Bodine, while Ron Hornaday Jr., and Justin Lofton took spots four and five. The rest of the top-10 consisted of Aric Almirola, Matt Crafton, Rick Crawford, rookie Austin Dillon and David Starr.

The race featured five caution periods for 21 laps, with 10 drivers failing to finish the 154-lap race which was extended four laps past its scheduled distance due to a green-white-checkered finish.

The next event on the Camping World Truck Series schedule is the Sept. 3 Built Ford Tough 225 at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta. The race starts at 8 p.m. EDT with live coverage provided by SPEED beginning with its pre-race show at 7:30 p.m.

Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Bristol Motor Speedway – August 20, 2010

- Kyle Busch tied the record for most series victories in a single season, winning his 10th NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS)
race of the season Friday night at Bristol Motor Speedway. Busch previously tied Sam Ard (1983) for the record in 2008.
The win marks the 50th NNS victory for Toyota since joining the series in 2007, and the first at the half-mile oval.

- Jason Leffler (second), Trevor Bayne (sixth), Reed Sorenson (eighth) and Joey Logano (10th) also earned top-10 finishes for Toyota. Camry drivers Michael Annett (18th), Brendan Gaughan (21st), Brian Scott (25th), Steve Wallace (30th) and Kasey Kahne (37th) were also in the field.

- Toyota drivers Busch (third), Wallace (seventh), Bayne (eighth), Leffler (ninth), Gaughan (10th), Logano (11th), Annett (12th), Scott (13th) and Sorenson (14th) are in the top-15 in the unofficial NNS point standings after 24 of 35 races.

<img src="http://www.catchfence.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/2010-Bristol-Aug-NNS-Kyle-Busch-Victory-Lane.jpg" alt="Kyle Busch celebrates his NASCAR Nationwide Series Food City 250 victory at Bristol Motor Speedway two days after winning the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at the track.
Finishing Position: 1st

How was your race tonight?

“It was a pretty good race for us. We had trouble in practice trying to get the car exactly the way I wanted it. We were close, but Jason (Ratcliff, crew chief) worked really hard with the guys to try and make sure that we had a winning car here tonight. We were swinging things at it all day. We came up with a good combination there for the race. It was a little too loose all night, but I kept trying to move my line around and try to find something that would work for me and I was able to do that a little bit. Had good pit stops and just being able to keep our track position all night really helped us so we didn’t have to pass too much. Just getting up there at the end and being able to set sail when it mattered most and get to victory lane.

What happened with Brad Keselowski during the race?

“I raced and raced and raced him (Brad Keselowski) and I don’t know for 12, 15 laps and my Z-Line Camry was pretty awesome tonight. The guys did a great job. It was loose, but it was good. I thought I had him cleared on the back and I moved up in front of him and instead of him doing an Earnhardt crossover move he decided that he would just run into the back of me and put me in the fence. So, that’s Brad Keselowski. So, you know, I went down into the next corner and dumped him. He does it to everybody else.

Why can’t I do it to him? So, whatever. It don’t matter. Jim and Monica (Sexton) are awesome. I can’t thank Z-Line Designs enough. Toyota, NOS Energy Drink, Marquis Jets, Gillette and Nationwide Insurance for supporting the series. It’s fun to come over here and race and I enjoy it, and of course it’s cool to put this 18 car in victory lane.”

How do continue to win races after having frustrating nights?

“You just keep working. Yeah, you can be frustrated all day long. You can be mad at yourself all day long, but you just keep digging, you keep your focus forward and you keep working as hard as you can, and that’s all that I could do. I tried and tried and tried lap after lap to stay clean with Brad (Keselowski) and I finally had him almost cleared — yeah I slid up in front of him — that’s a slide job and then he ran into the back of me and put me in the wall. So, I said forget it man, you play that game and I’ll play it back. So, I dumped him.”

Kyle Busch poses for the crowd at Bristol Motor Speedway after winning the Food City 250, his 10th victory of the season. - Photo Credit: Todd Warshaw / Getty Images

Are you excited to tie your record for 10 Nationwide Series wins in a season?

“That’s pretty cool. I forgot all about that. It didn’t matter to me. What’s more special is this car and this is (chassis) 61. This car has won now that a half-mile, a three-quarter mile, a mile, a mile and a third, mile and a half — I don’t think there are any mile and three quarters, but it’s won at a two-mile race track as well. So, it’s won everywhere. This baby, it’s an awesome race car.”

How good does it feel to win this race?

“It’s pretty awesome — to be with this race team. These guys will stick behind me through anything. So, do what you want. We were having fun and this Z-Line Designs Camry was awesome tonight. I can’t thank the guys enough. Jason (Ratcliff, crew chief) and all of the guys here at JGR (Joe Gibbs Racing) that did a great job for me. It was fun. It was really, really loose tonight. I was barely hanging on, but we were able to prevail, get out front and win this thing.”

How important is getting the 11th win and breaking the record for wins in a single season?

“It’s pretty awesome. To me, it’s cool to have the opportunity. We’ve got, I don’t know, eight, nine, 10 more races left or whatever it is to get the opportunity to do it. Hopefully luck can fall our way and we can get number 11. Number 11 is going to be pretty special because for one, it’s never been done before. For two, it brings one of our crew members that has never been to victory lane before to victory lane.

I’ve mentioned it before, Leo Thorsen, the car chief on our car for some reason just doesn’t like coming to victory lane, but I told him on win number 11 when I break the record for most wins and you’re a part of it, I said, ‘You’re coming to victory lane and getting your picture taken and hanging it up on the wall for your kids to see he was a part of it.’ Kevin Grubb, the engine tuner, he was with Sam (Ard) back when Sam won 10 so it’s pretty cool to have him here now. Three seasons he’s been able to do it.”

What would it mean to win all three races at Bristol this weekend?

“I just hope that I have a good enough race car to do it. I feel like we worked really hard today — Dave (Rogers) and myself. We didn’t quite find the things that I wanted in the car, but we kind of heard over the radio a lot of people scanning that were saying the same things that I was. I couldn’t quite get the car to react the way that I wanted it to from when I won here in the past, but hopefully that’s just a tendency of this tire and everybody is kind of fighting that.

It’s going to be difficult, but coming down to decision time at the end of the race, if you’ve got an opportunity to do it and it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity as we’ve seen. I haven’t been able to get it done yet. I’ve been close a few times, but it seems like the last one is always the hardest one to get. You never know what happens.

It’s 500 laps of racing at Bristol under the lights so we could have something bad happen early on and be done right there.
If we can get to the end of the race and have a shot, I wouldn’t want anything other than that and to take that Doublemint Camry to victory lane would be pretty special. To do the triple here at Bristol, where no one has ever done it ever in NASCAR I think would be cool too.”

JASON RATCLIFF, crew chief, No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

What are some of the things you encountered on pit road tonight?

“We spent a lot of time adjusting on this car today in practice and threw a lot of things at it. These guys worked their tales off. Never really could find what we needed to get the car right and made a few changes before the race and we jumped the fence obviously a little bit. Got it a little too free. First pit stop, tightened it up a little bit and it looked like it was exactly what we needed. The car just seemed to get better, the lap times got better the longer you went and then in the last pit stop, made no adjustments.

Just put a set of tires on it and I don’t know if it was track conditions or just that set of tires, but that thing got free again. Thankfully, it was a long run. I was hoping that typically when you have cautions here and the tires cycle every time you restart the car is a little bit tighter so I was hoping for a few cautions there to see if the cycles would tighten the car up and it worked out. Kyle (Busch) did a great job, obviously.

This place — you’ve got to be fast, but you’ve got to come through lapped traffic here. I was amazed at how he came
through lapped traffic tonight. The win was neat, but to watch him come through five, six cars it’s just incredible. Great job by him and great job by these guys and to finally get a win here at Bristol — this place, I’m not going to say it has haunted us — but we just haven’t been able to close the deal here. We’ve had some really good cars in the past and to finally get that is great, and for it to be the 10th one of the season is even more special.”

Jason Leffler

JASON LEFFLER, No. 10 Fraternal Order of Eagles Toyota Camry, Braun Racing

Finishing Position: 2nd

How was your run tonight?

“It was really strong. My car was really good off the trailer. Eddie Pardue (crew chief) and everybody at Braun Racing did a great job. The FOE (Fraternal Order of Eagles) was good. First lap on the track I knew we were going to have a good day. We just fine- tuned it and qualified top-10 — sixth there — and ran pretty good. Pit stops were a little bit slow — I shouldn’t say they were slow — we lost a few spots there. Track position was really important here at Bristol, but on the long run my car really hauled butt. That was good. And then the last couple of restarts worked out really well for me where I was able to restart on the outside line which helped a lot. It’s easy to get pinched down here, but the racing is great here at Bristol.”

What was the key to your second-place finish tonight?

“The restarts worked out. We got on the outside line there the last couple of restarts. The FOE (Fraternal Order of Eagles) Camry was really fast all day so it was good to come home second. I just cut it a little short there. The 18 (Kyle Busch) and the 20 (Joey Logano) are really fast cars and trying to keep up with them, but it was fun racing. A lot of fun all night. I’ve got to thank all of the fans for coming out. This is a great place and we’ll build upon this and get a couple more finishes and maybe get a win sometime this year.”

Are you going to try to pitch to change your number from 38 to 10 full-time since you had better luck?

“We were talking about that — the 38 has some bad luck whether Kasey (Kahne) drives it or I drive it, it seems like something happens. Every time I get in this 10 car we run good, we run top-five. I don’t know. We need to do something there. For us, we just change the number. I keep the same crew and everything so you can’t really blame the crew for the bad luck. It’s got to be in the number.”

Trevor Bayne

TREVOR BAYNE, No. 99 Out! Pet Care Toyota Camry, Diamond-Waltrip Racing

Finishing Position: 6th

Are you happy with a sixth-place finish at your home track?

“Not bad. We finally got a good finish at Bristol. We got a sixth-place finish. This team has so much momentum. When we finish sixth now we feel like it’s a 15th back in the day. We’re like, ‘Man, we’re so ready to get into the top-three or victory lane.’ It was an awesome Out! Pet Care Toyota today. A little bit tight and that’s what we fought all day. It seemed like we dropped back quite a bit, but we got through the field at the end and got a sixth-place finish.”

Reed Sorenson

REED SORENSON, No. 32 Dollar General Toyota Camry, Braun Racing

Finishing Position: 8th

How was your race tonight?

“We were average all night. We weren’t that great and I thought the middle of the race was probably our best and then there at the end we got a couple things of damage that hurt us a little bit so it was okay overall. It was a decent top-10. We just need to figure out how to get a little bit better.”

JOEY LOGANO, No. 20 GameStop Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 37th

What happened to take you out of the race?

“I was on the outside and had no more room and I guess the 12 (Justin Allgaier) didn’t know I was there or he got pushed up — I don’t know, I haven’t seen it. I was just kind of there and once he put me in the wall I was up on the wall and slid down the front straight away until it came to a stop. I just stayed there for a little bit. It’s kind of like spinning out, but you’re on your side. We were fast.

The Great Clips Toyota was really good. It’s disappointing because we’ve always had real fast cars here.”

The promotion, also known as “The Great American Shave,” will pair the Gillette Young Guns in “shave teams” of two in a challenge to see which team can encourage the most guys to join their team by shaving and then logging shaves on Gillette500.com.

Beginning in Daytona, Florida, site of the Daytona 500, which airs Sunday on FOX at 1 p.m. ET, a Gillette-branded motorcoach will travel coast-to-coast, making special pit stops at all the drivers’ hometowns. The Gillette Young Guns “shave teams” feature Clint Bowyer with Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch with Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin with Kasey Kahne. Throughout the competition, the teams will be on a mission to record a goal of more than 500,000 shaves – the equivalent of 500 miles of skin – with the Gillette Fusion MVP™ razor before April 30, 2010.

“We are looking for interesting and personal ways to connect with our drivers’ loyal fan base,” said Michelle Potorski, Associate Marketing Director, Gillette North America. “The Gillette 500 provides fans with an opportunity to support their favorite driver and to see the Gillette Young Guns recruiting guys to join their team.”

The campaign will be supported by a series of webisodes, along with a television spot that will debut during the Daytona 500 on FOX. All the “shave teams” were featured in the creative spots in various comical settings recruiting fans to become a part of their team. One team visits an ice skating rink, while another stops by a local book club meeting to reinforce how even guys with sensitive skin can use the Gillette Fusion MVP™ razor everyday.

For all the race details, fans can log onto Gillette500.com. In addition to joining one of the shave teams in the goal to achieve 500 miles of shaved skin, fans have the opportunity to enter the Gillette 500 sweepstakes. The sweepstakes will award one registered fan with the opportunity to receive a hometown visit by one of the Gillette Young Guns. Fans can come back to Gillette500.com everyday to submit both their shaves and an additional entry to the sweepstakes.
The creative was created by BBDO New York and filmed in Charlotte, North Carolina. Since its inception in 2003, The Gillette Young Guns program continues to be a core marketing platform for Gillette. Throughout its tenure, Gillette Young Guns drivers have combined for four NASCAR Sprint Cup Series™ Championships and four Daytona 500 victories.

Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Homestead-Miami Speedway – November 21, 2009

- Camry driver Kyle Busch earned the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) championship when he took the green flag on
Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The championship marks the first NNS driver’s title for Toyota and the first
NASCAR championship for the 24-year old Las Vegas-native.

- Busch won his ninth NNS race of 2009 and 15th for Toyota this season when he took the checkered flag at Homestead-Miami
Speedway. Busch also become the first driver since 1983 (Sam Ard) to win both the season-finale and the championship in the
series.

- Camry drivers Joey Logano (fourth), Denny Hamlin (fifth), David Reutimann (sixth) and Scott Speed (ninth) also earned top-10
finishes.

- Jason Leffler (18th), Michael Annett (21st), Justin Marks (32nd) and Chase Miller (37th) were also in the field.

- This season, Camry drivers had 15 victories, 68 top-fives, 127 top-10 finishes, and have led 3,854 laps.

<img src="http://www.catchfence.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/2009-Homestead-Nov-NNS-Kyle-Busch-in-Victory-Lane.jpg" alt="Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota, celebrates in Victory Lane after winning Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series and the Ford 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, his 30th win in 173 NASCAR Nationwide Series races.
Finishing Position: 1st

What are you thinking after winning the race and the championship?

“It’s been a while since that’s been done. I don’t mean to be selfish, but that’s the way for these guys to go out. They deserve it. This whole team and all these guys that work so hard on this Z-Line Designs Camry. I can’t thank Toyota enough, I can’t thank Z-Line, NOS Energy Drink, the Nationwide Series, thank all the fans – not just here in Homestead, but across NASCAR’s nation here. Of course Jim (Sexton, president and CEO of Z-Line Designs) and Monica (Sexton) are here to help us celebrate tonight and Marquis
Jets, Gillette and everybody that’s been on board and a part of our program this year. This is huge. My mom and dad are here tonight, my brother came up to me before the race knowing that all we had to do was take the green flag – this is cool. I wish I could have been with Kurt (Busch) in 2004 winning the championship. This one here means a whole lot for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) and
everybody at JGR – all the guys that work so hard at building these things, not just in the Nationwide shop, but in the Cup shop, the
fab shop, everybody. Joe and J.D. Gibbs and everybody is here – Norm Miller from Interstate Batteries, it’s just great.”

What were your thoughts with Carl Edwards coming on fresh tires on the last lap?

“It was a little nerving, I knew Carl (Edwards) would be coming with fresh tires – he was really fast. I was hoping Jeff Burton could
hold him up long enough to help burn his tires off a little bit before he got free and chased me down. I was just trying to hit my marks every single time. I finally found something, I couldn’t find it all race long and in the broadcast I said I couldn’t find anything.
Finally, with about 40 (laps) to go I found something there and kept running in that lane.

It prevailed and it paid off for us. I was able to keep my momentum going and keep those guys behind me. He bonsaied me there and I wasn’t quite sure if we were going to connect there. What a close race that might have been for the fans to watch and everybody – I’m sure it was exciting on TV knowing Carl (Edwards) and what he did at Kansas last year. Glad he missed us and we were able to come out on top.”

<img src="http://www.catchfence.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/2009-Homestead-Nov-NNS-Kyle-Busch-drives-with-championship-flag_thumb.jpg" alt="After receiving the checkered flag for winning Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Ford 300, Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota, celebrates by waving the championship flag in the car around Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Fla. (Photo Credit: Jason Smith / Getty Images for NASCAR)

How was tonight’s race for you?

“It was a tough race for sure. We weren’t the best car here for a long time. All the guys made some great race calls, Jason (Ratcliff,
crew chief) and everybody else. That’s why we’re a championship team and that’s why we made it here tonight is because these guys can fight through stuff and we made some adjustments to the car that really brought it to life and I was able to pass those guys on that restart and get up towards the front and lead those laps. When that last caution came out, I knew Carl (Edwards) was going to try to do the same thing that I just did. I was worried that he was going to get back to us.”

Does this championship make running races in all three series worth it?

“It is, it’s definitely worth it. I love being able to race as many vehicles as I can and this championship right here defines all that and
being able to race as many vehicles as I can race and still be able to produce – I feel like a lot of these tracks I’m good at. About every track I’m good at. There’s not really a track that I’m super at and then a track that I’m not that good at. I’m just good at all of them. Being able to do that and work with these guys and make our cars better.”

Where does this rank in your career accomplishments?

“This is the biggest one – this is it. It hasn’t sunk in yet and it probably won’t for a couple of days. Carl (Edwards) told me before the race, ‘When I won the championship it didn’t mean that much to me the day of, but once it got to the following season and you were called champ or reigning champ or whatever, it really means a lot and really hits home.’ Thank Nationwide for the series and for
helping support the series and all they’ve done for us. It’s a great year and it’s a tribute to all these guys. Everybody at JGR (Joe
Gibbs Racing) and all these guys on this team – everybody at the fab shop, the engine shop, chassis shop. These cars are phenomenal and it takes a lot of work in order to get these done. We’ve had a really strong season and those guys behind us had a really strong season as well – it wasn’t that we just barely lucked into this thing. We won it and we won it in good style.”

What does it mean that the last series champion to win the final race was Sam Ard?

“That brings a smile to my face, just the relationship that I’ve had with Sam (Ard) and what I’ve been able to talk to him so far.

That’s the history of this sport – that’s what those guys are all about. Sam (Ard) and I have some records together and I’ve broken some of his and I’ve broken other people’s records, but none of them mean as much as being able to win a race at the season finale and really solidify your championship and put icing on the cake.”

JASON RATCLIFF, crew chief, No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

How does it feel to be a championship crew chief?

“Incredible. When you stop and think about it, it becomes a little bit emotional. To think about what we’re able to do – the blessings
that we’ve been blessed with all season long. Kyle (Busch) and this whole team, what we’ve been able to accomplish as a group. I
don’t know, I don’t have the words for it right now. It’s just awesome to be able to put those goals up there in front of us and go out there and achieve them. We did everything we set out to do and then even more than we expected. I don’t know if we can ever have another season like this, but we’re going to try.”

What can you say about the records that Kyle Busch has broken this season?

“He’s (Kyle Busch) incredible. He deserves every record he broke and his name deserves to by it. We’re just glad that we could be a
part of it. This group of guys, I’ve been working with this group for more than four years now and they just never quit. They just keep on, keep on, keep on. We kind of challenge each other. Kyle (Busch) challenges us when we finish second and then we challenge him in situations like tonight where we make a decent call and get him out front and then he’s got to step up on the wheel and show what he’s all about.”

JOE GIBBS, team owner, Joe Gibbs Racing

What does it mean to win the Nationwide championship?

“I think these are things that — the great things in life are the memories that you have and that you don’t forget, and I remember
standing out one time after a Super Bowl, and I turned to Charles Manning, and he said to me, the thrill was getting here, everything
that you had to do to get here, all the times you’ve fought, and you have a wreck, you have this, you have that, things that happen. The thing I told Kyle before we started, to me what impresses me is this car ran great all year. I mean, super all year, and we went all the way to the last race before we could win the championship. So it shows you how hard this is.”

J.D. GIBBS, president, Joe Gibbs Racing

What does this championship mean for your team?

“This is such a big deal for us and these are so hard to come by. I think Nationwide, Cup – it’s just a blessing for us. To watch Kyle
(Busch) and the way he worked through the season and worked with Jason (Ratcliff, crew chief) and all the guys coming together -
that’s a big deal. For us, we’ll celebrate this and this one is going to last quite a while.”

What has Kyle Busch learned about winning championships?

“What he’s kind of learned over here, we’ve taken a lot of seconds, a lot of thirds – they’re not fun to take. On the Cup side, that’s
taking your fifths, your 10ths, and you just learn that when you’re running for a championship there’s certain things that are required
there.”

No. 20 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Toyota Camry

JOEY LOGANO, No. 20 GameStop Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 4th

How was tonight’s race for you?

“It was a rough one. We weren’t good enough to win by no means. We got out in the lead for a little bit, but I knew we weren’t good enough to be up there. We finished fourth and that’s where we ran. I think that’s where we should have run. I felt like there at the end when the leaders pitted and we stayed out, I said, ‘We ain’t going to win the way we are so let’s go for the gold and try something different.’ That didn’t work for us so then we got the last caution and we tried to go for the gold again and get some new tires. My race car just wasn’t fast enough, we were digging hard. Everyone did a great job, just missed it by a little bit. Carl (Edwards) and Kyle (Busch) were really the best cars, 29 (Jeff Burton) was really good too. We’ll take it. We ran fourth, we finished fourth so it is what it is.”

Denny Hamlin

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 GodSpeaks.com Toyota Camry, CJM Racing

Finishing Position: 5th

How good was your race car tonight?

“We just had a crack in the header right there when we were trying to get our lap back and it just wore through and killed our
horsepower. All in all it is still a great day for us. I felt like we had something for those guys but that horsepower loss that we had
through the exhaust it really hurt us there towards the end.”

What happened when you got into the back of Brad Keselowski?

“Yeah, the sun was real bad at that point and I really couldn’t see a whole lot. I think the fans right there, they got their money’s worth today.”

What was your plan at the beginning of the race?

“I was just trying to worry him (Brad Keselowski) to death and force him into a mistake and that’s what he did. As soon as I got
behind him he drove in really, really deep and I said, ‘He’ll never make the corner.’ And he ended up getting into the wall. To me it’s
a victory for all of the guys who he’s taken out over the last 10 weeks. There’s a lot of guys — I was out there and a lot of guys took swipes at him and missed today so to be honest with you I’m surprised he was even able to drive it in.”

Are you disappointed with the penalty that NASCAR gave you?

“No, not at all. That’s the thing, if you do something obvious and blatant which I did you would expect a penalty and I’ll be honest
with you I thought it was going to be two laps. So one lap I wasn’t feeling too bad about. I knew we could come back from it and our car was still in one piece. That’s the thing, I wouldn’t try to cause harm to anyone and I knew spinning him (Brad Keselowski) at the point that I was that he wasn’t going to get hurt and his car wasn’t going to get hurt. I just wanted to make his day a little bit tougher.”

How did your car handle during the race?

“It was a long day. We fought and we fought to try to get it and those long green-flag runs just really hurt us to getting the track
position that we needed. Luckily we had a caution at the end that helped with that and we just had too many issues. That mechanical failure with the headers that cracked just killed our horsepower. So when we needed all of the horsepower that we needed at the end it just couldn’t keep up with those guys.”

Busch led six times for a race-high 179 laps en route to his 29th career Nationwide Series victory, his series-leading eighth of the season and his fourth consecutive at Texas.

“We out-wrestled all these guys with this Smackdown vs. Raw Camry,” said Busch, who has led an astonishing 657 of 800 laps during his four-race victory streak in the Lone Star State. “I’ve got to thank Z-Line Designs, Jim and Monica Sexton, NOS Energy Drink, Gillette, DIRECTV, the fans, of course, and all the guys on this team. This track is fun. It’s fun when you have good cars. These guys do a phenomenal job for me.

“We’ve been running well all year long and we’ve been able to capitalize on good runs. This is one that we capitalized on. This is eight on the year. Unfortunately, we missed out on 11 others – those were second-place finishes. When you get to victory lane, it’s cool that you can get your team to victory lane and really celebrate with them because those are the guys that deserve to be here.”

The victory also helped Busch inch closer to his first Nationwide Series championship, which he can clinch next week by finishing 15th or better at Phoenix International Raceway. Busch owns a commanding 272-point lead over second-place Carl Edwards and an incredible 1,025-point advantage over fourth-place Jason Leffler.

“It’s pretty cool,” said Busch, who has never won a championship in any of NASCAR’s top-three divisions. “It feels awesome. It’s all in these guys and what they do and the hours they spend. Jason (Ratcliff, crew chief) reading the books, reading the computer and looking over all the notes. A lot of the guys on this team have worked really hard and deserve it. The ‘20’ team won the owner’s championship last year and now that the ‘18’ team is heading toward a championship, it shows the whole JGR team is championship worthy.”

For the 28th time in his young career, Busch is competing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series races in the same weekend. With his victory Friday night in the Camping World Truck Series race at Texas, coupled with his Nationwide Series victory on Saturday, Busch will look to make history in Sunday’s Dickies 500 Sprint Cup Series race by becoming the first drive to ever win all three races in one weekend.

“I hope it happens. It would be awesome and it’s never been done before,” Busch said. “The last one is always the hardest, and that’s because it’s the biggest and hardest show to win. We’ll see if we can get it. The closest I’ve come was first, first and third earlier this year at California.”

Finishing second to Busch by 3.154 seconds was Casey Mears, while Leffler, Matt Kenseth and Brad Keselowski rounded out the top-five. Kevin Harvick, Brian Vickers, David Ragan, Edwards and Mike Bliss comprised the remainder of the top-10.

The race featured seven caution periods for 34 laps, with 21 drivers failing to finish the 200-lap event.

The next event on the Nationwide Series schedule is the Nov. 14 Able Body Labor 200 at Phoenix International Raceway. The penultimate race starts at 4:30 p.m. EST with live coverage provided by ESPN2 beginning with its pre-race show at 4 p.m.

(Photo Credit: Drew Hallowell/Getty Images for NASCAR)

Boston, July 9, 2009 (NYSE:PG) – Gillette® [PG], the world’s leading grooming brand, today announced that it will heat things up this summer by adding recent NASCAR race winner Joey Logano, driver of the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota, to its elite group of Gillette Young Guns Drivers which includes Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne and Ryan Newman.

Logano earned his rookie stripes from his fellow Gillette Young Guns during the filming of a new commercial to support the Gillette Optimal Shave indicator strip, which alerts consumers that it is time to change their blades when the strip color changes from blue to white. The commercial features all seven Gillette Young Guns and highlights Logano as the latest addition to the roster of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stars. The ads will begin airing during the broadcast of the July 11 LifeLock.com 400 from Chicagoland Speedway.

“Joey is one of the hottest drivers in the sport and we are pleased to welcome him as the newest member of the Gillette Young Guns,” said Michelle Potorski, Associate Marketing Director, Gillette North America. “Our new commercial is about change — whether it’s reminding consumers to change their blades or adding a teenage rookie sensation to our Gillette Young Guns roster. We’re proud to have Joey join the team and look forward to watching his career take off in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.”

In his first full-time year in NASCAR’s highest level of competition, Logano became the youngest driver in the sport’s history – at 19 years, 35 days – to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, taking first place at the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 in Loudon, N.H. on June 28.

So far this season, Logano has recorded four top-10 finishes and currently sits atop the Rookie of the Year standings. His surging popularity landed him one of racing’s top honors when he was voted by the fans to drive in the NASCAR Sprint All-Star race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

The 30-second commercial was created by BBDO New York and filmed in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Gillette Young Guns program, now in its sixth year, continues to be a core marketing platform for Gillette. Throughout its tenure, Gillette Young Guns drivers have combined for four NASCAR Cup Series Championships and four Daytona 500 victories, including Ryan Newman’s historic victory at the 50th running of the Daytona 500 in 2008.
