The 24-year old traveled from his Mooresville, North Carolina shop on Monday to his hometown of Indiantown, Florida to participate in a number of public appearances in honor of his first stock car championship.

On Tuesday, Sheltra along with his mother Grace Sheltra and his father Rick Sheltra received a proclamation from the Martin County Board of County Commissioners. The award was a touching moment for the family-owned team as several fans, supporters and local media flocked to the board meeting to witness the congratulatory award ceremony.

From there, Sheltra received numerous requests from local media including print, internet and television. On Thursday, Sheltra & Son Construction, Inc., one of the team’s marketing partners hosted a championship celebration inviting the public to meet and greet with the fourth year ARCA driver. Again, members of the local media attended along with some of Sheltra’s closest family and friends.

The NASCAR-bound driver will head back to “Race City USA” on Friday (November 13) in preparation for another public appearance from the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday, November 14th. Sheltra along with 2010 ARCA Racing Series championship crew chief Jon Wolfe will be live on ‘Droppin’ the Hammer, a Spartanburg, South Carolina ESPN affiliate program at approximately 11:20 a.m. from the newly built NASCAR HOF.

“It’s been a good week,” said Sheltra, who recorded two wins, 12 top-fives and 17 top-10 finishes in his 2010 ARCA season. “It was nice to go home and spend some time with the family and receive some very humbling awards and exposure. I reminded everyone that none of this would not have been possible without the dedication of the Sheltra Motorsports team and all of our marketing partners.”

Speedway. By finishing fourth in the American 200 presented by Black’s Tire and Auto Care, Sheltra and his Sheltra Motorsports team captured the 2010 ARCA Racing Series championship.

The championship title was the icing on the cake after the Mooresville, North Carolina-based team capped off a stellar season which was full of consistency and determination. Sheltra also became the first Floridian to capture the ARCA Racing Series championship since the series’ inception in 1953.

Focused on the 20th and final race of the season, the Sheltra Motorsports team led by Jon Wolfe headed to the historic one-mile oval seeking the perfect setup that would ultimately aid them in their quest for the most coveted position in the series. With the help of 2009 ARCA Racing Series champion Justin Lofton, the Sheltra Motorsports team concentrated their efforts with two Toyota Camrys on Thursday with the team deciding to utilize the same Toyota Camry that the team had won with at Chicagoland Speedway and raced at Kansas Speedway just a week before.

During the first practice session on Friday, Sheltra found the speed that his veteran ARCA team had been searching on Thursday. After maneuvering a top-five lap, the 24-year old Sheltra set his sights on Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying. Going out late in the session, Sheltra was hoping to land his No. 60 Tequesta Road and Bridge of Florida / Jones Group International Toyota Camry inside the top-three to earn some extra bonus points that would pad his ARCA Racing Series championship lead.

A bobble though coming out of turn two ended Sheltra’s chances at his first official career ARCA pole but the green and orange Toyota Camry would start the season finale from the eighth position.

Immediately from the drop of the green flag, Sheltra, in his classic “Mr. Showtime” style, quickly began slicing and dicing through the field. When the first caution flag waived on lap 11, Sheltra had bolted into the fourth position.

By lap 30, Sheltra had moved into the third position behind Steve Arpin. By lap 40, Sheltra had cleared Arpin’s No. 55 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and set his sights on leader Kevin Swindell, who had checked out with a healthy lead over the field.

Closing in on lap 50, Chad Hackenbracht lost a motor right in front of Sheltra which allowed the yellow flag to waive and open up pit road for the first stop of the day. Wolfe called for a slight air pressure adjustment, four tires and fuel. A flawless stop by the Sheltra Motorsports crew sent their driver back into action in the second spot behind Arpin, who elected to stay out during the yellow.

On the restart, Sheltra on fresh rubber made quick work of Arpin and led lap 61 collecting five crucial bonus points. Justin Marks made a pass on Sheltra on lap 62 with the No. 60 Tequesta Road and Bridge of Florida / Jones Group International Toyota Camry settling comfortably in the second position.

As the field began to trickle into a long-green flag run following a caution on lap 76, Sheltra’s Toyota proved to be the fastest on the track. By lap 87, Sheltra dived his Sheltra Motorsports automobile to the bottom of turn three and cleanly passed Marks for control of the top-spot.

From there, Sheltra checked out on the field and put as much as a six second lead on the field before he escaped a potential death to his championship hopes, barely missing the wayward car of Tim George Jr. on lap 147.

The caution was a welcomed break for the Sheltra Motorsports team as they were just 10 to 12 laps from entering pit road under green flag conditions. The Indiantown, Florida native brought his machine to the attention of his pit crew where they once again performed flawlessly and sent their pilot back onto the track in the same position he entered.

On the lap 160 restart, Sheltra was unable to fend off Ty Dillon. Dillon in the No. 41 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Impala maneuvered around the No. 60 on the backstretch and took command of the race.

Meanwhile, the handling of Sheltra’s Toyota began to fade as Sheltra reported to Wolfe that his car had become extremely tight during the last run. With the cars of Ty Dillon, Steve Arpin, Kevin Swindell and Chad Finley all cleanly passing the No. 60, Sheltra found himself in the fifth position with the No. 81 of Craig Goess, Sheltra’s competition for the championship lurking in seventh.

During the course of the final 10 laps, Sheltra had to hold off a charge from nine-time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel for sixth but Kimmel with five laps to go honorably moved out of the way and allowed Goess to move up into the sixth position and try and make a pass on the championship leader. Sheltra though would have none of it. After Goess was able to find himself on the back bumper of the No. 60 Tequesta Road and Bridge of Florida / Jones Group International Toyota Camry with four laps to go, Sheltra increased his distance from the No. 81 Toyota over the final three laps of the event and was able to take the checkered flag ahead of Eddie Sharp Racing’s Goess and ultimately claim the 2010 ARCA Racing Series championship.

Sheltra would move from fifth to fourth on the final lap as Arpin while running second ran out of fuel on the backstretch allowing the lead lap cars behind him to take advantage of his misfortune. The finish was Sheltra’s second top-five in four runs at “The Rock.”

Sheltra’s 12th top-five and 17th top-10 of the season was enough to secure the championship title by a mere 20 points over Goess who finished fifth in the race and second in the final point standings. Tom Hessert who entered the season finale just 20 markers behind Sheltra had a challenging day and finished 19th but claimed third overall in points. Frank Kimmel took fourth and Mikey Kile capped of his first year of competition in the fifth place points position.

“We knew what we had to do and we did it,” said Sheltra, who led a race high 74 laps which earned him an additional five bonus points. “The team did a fantastic job and Jon Wolfe is the man. We were optimistic after the test on Thursday, but we found a comfortable setup and went with it for the race and it paid off.”

Sheltra continued, “I’m speechless about winning the ARCA Racing Series championship. This is what we came here to do this year. After New Jersey, many wrote us off after dropping to fifth in points. As a team though, we never gave up. We knew what we had to do. I stayed confident and consistent behind the wheel and the guys continued to give 150 percent at the shop and at the race track. It just goes to show you that hard work definitely pays off.”

By hoisting the role as the owner of the No. 60 Tequesta Road and Bridge of Florida / Jones Group International Toyota Camry, Sheltra became the first owner / driver champion since 1969 when the late Benny Parsons earned the driver and owner title in the same season. To date, there are only six driver / owner combination champions. Driver / owner champions in the same season include Jim Romine (1953), Buckie Sager (1954), Iggy Katona (1955, ’56, ’57, ’62, ’66, ’67), Jack Bowsher (1963, ’64, ’65), Benny Parsons (1968, ’69) and Sheltra (2010).

“This is a family affair,” sounded Sheltra. “We could not have become the 2010 ARCA Racing Series champions without the guidance and support of my mom (Grace) and dad (Rick). We’ve been competing in the ARCA Racing Series full-time since 2007 and now we’ve been able to prove once again that a family-owned team can make it all the way to the top. The Allgaier family did it in 2008, this year was our turn.”

Sheltra also focused on becoming the first recipient from the Sunshine State to take the championship crown. “This is for all the drivers out there who live in a small city like mine in Indiantown. You can do it. It doesn’t come without hard work and a few bumps and bruises along the way, but the glorification of something like a championship makes everything worth it. I’m so appreciative to all the fans and our local supporters from Indiantown who have stepped up and supported our “little” team through the good and bad. This is something that no one will be able to take away from us.”

In all, the 2010 ARCA Racing Series season proved to be best racing year to date for Sheltra. In 20 races, he conquered two wins, 12 top-fives and 17 top-10s. He also controlled the ARCA Racing Series field six times for 241 laps.

Next up for Sheltra and Co. is the 2010 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards Championship Awards Banquet will take place Saturday, December 4 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, Ky., near Cincinnati.

Multiple cost-effective marketing partnership packages or driver representation are still available for the remainder of the 2010 NASCAR seasons for Patrick Sheltra. For additional information please contact Brandon Hinson (brandon@patricksheltra.com) or email marketing@patricksheltra.com.

Exiting Rockingham, Sheltra has 87 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with three career victories at Salem (Ind.)
ARCA Racing Series Race No. 19, Kansas Lottery 150,

Kansas Speedway, Kansas City, Kansas

Race Information: Event: Kansas Lottery 150, Thursday, September 30 at 4:00 p.m. Local Time Track: Kansas Speedway Qualifying: Thursday, September 30 at 1:00 p.m. Local Time Track Length: 1.5-mile paved-oval.

Last Time Out; Salem Speedway: Patrick Sheltra and his Sheltra Motorsports team finished sixth in the most recent outing for the ARCA Racing Series at Salem (Ind.) Speedway for the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA Fall Classic. After starting ninth, Sheltra quickly battled his No. 60 PatrickSheltra.com / Ferguson Pipe Dodge Charger towards the front. Unfortunately, an extremely loose race car would keep Sheltra in the hunt for his third win of the season and second overall at the legendary short track. Still, the finish was enough for Sheltra to maintain control of the ARCA Racing Series championship standings after a post-race infraction from another championship contender. The effort awarded the Mooresville, North Carolina-based team with their 15th top-10 finish of the year.

In The Land Of Oz: Indiantown, Florida native Patrick Sheltra will make his fourth career ARCA Racing Series start at Kansas Speedway on Thursday afternoon. In Sheltra’s previous three starts he has a worst finish of 12th and a best finish of eighth occurring in 2008. Last October, Sheltra qualified ninth and bolted quickly into the top-five in the 100-lap contest. Sheltra though would be involved in an early race altercation which kept the Sheltra Motorsports out of contention for a top-10 run and instead had to settle for a 11th place run.

Welcome Aboard Tequesta: For the final two ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards races of the year, Sheltra Motorsports is proud to boast the signage of Tequesta Road and Bridge of Florida on the hood of their Japanese nameplate. A soon-to-be-completed project by Sheltra & Son Construction of Indiantown, Florida, the Tequesta Road and Bridge located in Tequesta, Florida, stands approximately 28 miles Southeast from Indiantown, Florida, symbolizing one of the greatest spectacles of new construction in the Sunshine State. The Grand Opening of the Tequesta Bridge is set for this Saturday, October 2, 2010.

Welcoming Some International Love Too: Jones Group International has leaped aboard the No. 60 Sheltra Motorsports Toyota Camry for the final two events of the year at Kansas Speedway and Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway respectively. Located in Amherstburg Ontario Canada, Jones Group International, a successful construction company is owned by part-time race car driver Terry Jones. The Jones Group International logo will be sported on the television panel of the No. 60 Toyota Camry.

Watcha Haulin?: Crew chief Jon Wolfe has elected to use Sheltra Motorsports Chassis No. 19 this week at Kansas Speedway. This former Red Bull Racing Toyota Camry in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) is the same automobile that propelled Sheltra to victory at Chicagoland Speedway last month. This is the same machine that Sheltra finished third at Michigan International Speedway in June. This hot rod also was the team’s primary vehicle of choice at Iowa Speedway. Chassis No. 11 will serve as the team’s back-up machine. The former Penske Racing Dodge Charger was transformed into a Toyota Camry this year. It is the same automobile that Sheltra Motorsports utilized in both Pocono (Pa.) Raceway ARCA events this season. Sheltra finished fourth and sixth respectively on the tricky 2.5-mile triangle.

Happy Birthday “Sister”: Sydney Wolfe, the daughter of Sheltra Motorsports crew chief Jon Wolfe will celebrate her 16th birthday on Sunday October 5th. Sheltra made a promise to his “sister” before he departed for Kansas Speedway Tuesday afternoon that he would do everything in his power to bring her home a win in the 19th race of the year as a special “sweet 16” present.

Autographs Anyone?: Before turning to his duties on Thursday, Sheltra will make a stop at the Cabela’s (10300 Cabela Drive, Kansas City, Kansas 66111, across from France Family Drive adjacent to Kansas Speedway; 913.328.0322) On Wednesday, September 29th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. local for a meet and greet and an autograph session.

New Record Set; But Thirsty For More: While eclipsing his 10th top-five finish of the year at Toledo (Oh.) Speedway, Patrick Sheltra continues to rewrite his own personal record books for the number of finishes inside the top-five and top-10 for a full-season. In his previous three full-time seasons, Sheltra had posted a season high of four top-five finishes in 2009. Sheltra’s personal best overall season of nine top-10 finishes in 2008 was overtaken again by his performance in the Southern Illinois 100. Thus far in 2010, Sheltra has mastered two wins, 10 top-fives and 15 top-10 finishes in 18 races, including the sixth place finish at Salem (Ind.) Speedway two weeks ago. Sheltra is hoping to expand his new personal record with just two races remaining this year.

Point’s Check: 18 races down, two to go, Sheltra with the guidance of crew chief Jon Wolfe sits first in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings accumulating 4290 points. The driver nicknamed “Mr. Showtime” remained in the top-spot following his solid run last at Salem (Ind.) Speedway. The 24-year old Sheltra also controls the first position in the ARS car owner standings. The top-seven ARCA Racing Series drivers are separated by just 215 points to the leader for control of the top spot in the championship chase. Earlier this year, Sheltra held the top-spot for three consecutive races (Toledo, Michigan and Pocono) in a row, and shared the top-spot with Tom Hessert for one race (DuQuoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds). In 2009, he also shared the top-spot with Parker Kligerman for one race (Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway).

Sheltra’s Covered In Special Point Standings Too: While the Sheltra Motorsports team is searching for their first championship, the team is still after a host of other awards too. Patrick Sheltra and mother Grace Sheltra leads the ARCA “special points” Superspeedway Challenge sector. Car owner Grace Sheltra leads Kevin Cywinski (No. 32) by a 90-point gap entering the final speedway race of the season this week at Kansas Speedway. Currently, Patrick Sheltra is also first in the CGS Imaging Hard Charger, first in the Racing Electronics Lighting Challenge and first in the Fast Track High Performance Driving School award.

Nice Statistic; Solid Stats: By posting his 15th top-10 finish of the season at Toledo (Oh.) Speedway on September 12, Sheltra is the only driver in the ARCA Racing Series to finish inside the top-10 in 15 of the 18 races completed thus far in 2010. Sheltra kicked off his strongest start to an ARCA season with a fifth place performance at Daytona, a 10th place performance at Palm Beach, a fourth place run at Salem Speedway, a seventh place outing at Texas Motor Speedway, his season-best second at ‘Dega, an eighth at Toledo Speedway, a fourth place run at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, a third place outing in the Racing for Wildlife 200 at Michigan International Speedway, a sixth place at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, a second-place outing in the Berlin ARCA 200 at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, a 13th place outing at New Jersey Motorsports Park, a win on the dirt at the Illinois State Fairgrounds and another win at Chicagoland Speedway, a fourth place result at the Du Quoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds, a third place at Toledo (Oh.) Speedway and most recently a sixth place finish in round number 18 under the lights at Salem (Ind.) Speedway.

On Salem Speedway: “We were just happy to leave Salem with a top-10 finish. By no means did we have the car that we wanted. The car was just so loose that no matter how much we tried, we just could not get the car to perform the way we wanted to. Despite the handling, we were able to fight hard and maneuver another consistent run, which hopefully will a key element in allowing us to secure this championship.”

On Kansas Speedway: “I’m looking forward to Kansas Speedway on Thursday. We’re bringing one of my favorite cars to the race track. We opted not to test at Kansas but we skipped the test at Chicagoland Speedway and still were able to go out there and blow the field away with the win. I really feel like that we can do the same thing this week, while also keeping our championship dream intact heading into the season finale at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway next weekend.”

On The Support From Tequesta Road and Bridge of Florida: “I really want to thank all the folks from Tequesta Road and Bridge of Florida for jumping aboard our Toyota Camry not only this week at Kansas but next weekend at Rockingham too. This has been a big project for Sheltra & Son Construction and for the folks over in Tequesta wanting to jump aboard our racing train really means a lot to me. I hope we can give them a good run at Kansas and an even better memory at Rockingham next week.”

On Jones Group International: “I can’t say enough about Terry Jones and his company, Jones Group International. He called us and told us that he wanted to help us any way he could to ensure we have a legitimate shot at winning the ARCA championship. Not only has Terry been a great friend to Sheltra Motorsports, but he’s also been a good competitor on the race track. It’s pretty neat to have some International flavor from Canada supporting our race team, eh!”

On Points: “The championship is going to come down to the wire. We’re going to keep doing what we’ve been doing the past month or so. Hopefully, the breaks will continue to fall our way and we’ll find ourselves leading the standings after Kansas. I’m confident in the ability of my team and I cannot wait to climb in that race car on Thursday!”

Ten years ago, the shop at 217 Rolling Hill Road and others surrounding it were all owned by the big Winston Cup competitors. As the larger teams left for customized buildings elsewhere, the properties then became welcome opportunities for competitors like the Sheltra Family, who moved their entire racing operation here from Whitesville, Kentucky in January of this year.

Sheltra Motorsports, owned and operated by driver Patrick Sheltra and his parents, Richard and Grace, had been pondering a move to “Race City USA” as far back as 2008, but had to wait until the lease ran out at their previous address. When that occurred at the close of 2009, the team transplanted their entire organization. According to Sheltra Motorsports Communications Manager Chris Knight, there were many reasons for choosing Mooresville as the next home base for their growing ARCA race series team.

“Moving to Mooresville was more than a blessing for us,” says Knight, reflecting on the cross country trek. “When compared to our operation back in Kentucky, we now have such an increase in proximity to our vendors, our networking connections, more opportunity and, obviously, a much deeper talent pool of potential employees with a tremendous amount of racing experience to draw upon,” he added.

The move to Mooresville significantly raised the team’s profile. Company officials have been delighted with the influx of visitors eager to get a glimpse of the shop in action—and even meet the driver, Patrick Sheltra, who happily signs autographs when onsite.

With just two more events listed on the 2010 ARCA Racing Calendar, the team is also cautiously optimistic of the fact that they are leading the championship point battle. Currently, Patrick Sheltra holds a slim 15-point advantage over the second place team of Tom Hessert. The ARCA Series will first visit Kansas Speedway for the Kansas Lottery 150 on September 29th, then hit the season finale at Rockingham Speedway on October 9th for a double-header racing event billed as the American 200. For local Mooresville fans wishing to travel to the event, Rockingham is a scant two-hour drive out Highway 74 East.

The American 200 race is a double-header, comprised of the final championship points-paying event for both the ARCA and UARA Late Model Series. The UARA Championship event gets underway at 11:00 a.m. for 75 laps around the one-mile speedway. The ARCA Championship 200-lap race follows with a projected start time of 1:00 p.m. The race weekend also includes a driver autograph session for the fans prior to the events.

Tickets for the American 200 on October 9th, 2010, can be secured by calling the ticket office at Rockingham Speedway at (910) 205-8800 or they can be purchased online by visiting: www.rockinghamracewaypark.com.

ARCA Racing Series Race No. 16, Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Car Care, Du Quoin State Fairgrounds, Du Quoin, Illinois

Race Information: Event: Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Car Care, Monday, September 6 at 1:00 p.m. Local Time Track: Du Quoin State Fairgrounds Qualifying: Monday, September 6 at 11:00 a.m. Local Time; Track Length: 1.0-mile clay.

Last Time Out; Chicagoland Speedway: On the heels of his first win of the 2010 ARCA Racing Series season at the Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield), driver Patrick Sheltra and his Sheltra Motorsports team headed to Chicagoland Speedway looking to do it all over again. After qualifying a career-best second, Sheltra took control of the ARCA field for a whopping 85 laps en route to his second consecutive win and third of his career. The triumph marked the first win for Sheltra on a speedway. It was also Sheltra’s first visit to victory lane in a Toyota Camry. His previous wins at Salem (Ind.) Speedway and the Illinois State Fairgrounds both came under the Dodge Charger banner.

Welcome To My Turf: Patrick Sheltra is no stranger to the dirt and for the eighth time in his ARCA Racing Series career, Sheltra will return to the dirt in a stock car gunning for win number four Monday afternoon. Sheltra showcased his driving talent on the dirt competing in USAC and UMP late model events throughout the United States before making the transition to asphalt full time in 2007. On Monday, Sheltra will look to conquer the Illinois sweep and record his third top-10 finish at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in four starts. In 2008, Sheltra finished a close second to nine-time champion Frank Kimmel. In his Du Quoin debut in 2007, Sheltra finished sixth after starting 12th.

Du Quoin; One Year Ago: After almost tasting victory at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in 2008, Sheltra and his Sheltra Motorsports team returned to the clay track looking for their second consecutive top-five. Unfortunately, after qualifying 10th, Sheltra blasted his No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger into the top-five before the engine expired on lap 30, leaving Sheltra with a frustrating 31st place finish.

Now You See Me; Now You Don’t: Bringing back a blast from the past, the Sheltra Motorsports team will sport a unique but familiar paint scheme for Monday’s Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Car Care. The team will utilize the same paint scheme they ran with their Dodge last year at Du Quoin which consisted of a very slick looking all-camouflage No. 60 entry. The 16th race of the 2010 season marks the second and final time this year where the Mooresville, North Carolina-based operation will run the popular scheme. In Toledo, the team will transform back into their familiar green and neon orange layout.

Getting Into The Holiday Spirit Now: Before turning his attention to the 1,309 race held for the 57-year tour, Sheltra will visit the American Legion Post 306 in Metropolis, Illinois on Sunday, September 5 to start spreading awareness and gather interest for this year’s “Toys for Tots” campaign. The mission of the “Toys for Tots” program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The primary goal of “Toys for Tots” is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive and patriotic citizens.

Sunday’s event officially kicks off at 1:00 p.m. with Sheltra scheduled to sign autographs beginning at 2:00 p.m. The American Legion Post 306 is located at 321 Market Street in Metropolis, Illinois 62960-1829, about an hour and a half from the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. The American Legion will also have food and snacks available for purchase with the proceeds going towards the 2010 edition of “Toys for Tots.” Further information about the event is available by calling 618.771.7316.

Wanna Come Along For The Ride? Marketing Partnerships Still Available: Multiple cost-effective marketing partnership packages are still available for the 2010 ARCA Racing Series and NASCAR seasons for Patrick Sheltra. Let Sheltra Motorsports show you how to find victory lane in more ways than one! For additional information on how to be apart of our winning organization, please contact Brandon Hinson (brandon@patricksheltra.com) or email marketing@patricksheltra.com.

Close But No Cigar; Bill France Four Crown: Just 10 points kept Sheltra from claiming the 2010 Bill France Four Crown award at Chicagoland Speedway. ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards competitor Joey Coulter edged out the Indiantown, Florida native for the special title by 10 markers after the overall average of four unique race tracks. Coulter scored the best average finish of any driver on the tour at the treacherous short track of Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, the newly built New Jersey Motorsports Park road course, the Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield), the first of two dirt races this year and Chicagoland Speedway, one of the fastest tracks on the tour. If not for an engine failure on the final lap at New Jersey Motorsports Park which relegated the team to a 13th place finish, Sheltra would have claimed the title. However, Sheltra’s second-place outing was his best finish in four prior tries at the prestigious award.

PVW To The Rescue: Despite winning the Allen Crowe 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield) on August 22nd, the No. 60 Dodge Charger had to make an emergency trip to Performance Vehicle Works (PVW) in Cornelius, North Carolina for a full-body repair on the Chrysler nameplate. During the 100-lap contest, Sheltra was involved in two separate incidents which destroyed the body. Quick work though by spotter Timmy McKichan and his crew will allow Sheltra to utilize the same winning piece at Du Quoin on Monday afternoon.

New Record Set; But Thirsty For More: While eclipsing his eighth top-five finish of the year and second consecutive win at Chicagoland Speedway, Patrick Sheltra continues to rewrite his own personal record books for the number of finishes inside the top-five and top-10 for a full-season. In his previous three full-time seasons, Sheltra had posted a season high of four top-five finishes in 2009. Sheltra’s personal best overall season of nine top-10 finishes in 2008 was overtaken again by his performance in the Ansell Protective Gloves 150. Thus far in 2010, Sheltra has mastered two wins, eight top-fives and 12 top-10 finishes in 15 races. Sheltra is hoping to expand his new personal record with five races remaining this year.

Point’s Check: 15 races down, five to go, Sheltra with the guidance of crew chief Jon Wolfe sits third in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings accumulating 3360 points and 10 markers behind leader Craig Goess. The driver nicknamed “Mr. Showtime” rose to third and gained 30 points overall on the championship lead after notching his third career victory in the Ansell Protective Gloves 150 at Chicagoland Speedway. The 24-year old Sheltra also controls the third position in the ARS car owner standings. The top-seven ARCA Racing Series drivers are separated by just 155 points to the leader for control of the top spot in the championship chase. Earlier this year, Sheltra held the top-spot for three consecutive races (Toledo, Michigan and Pocono) in a row after also sharing the top-spot with Parker Kligerman for one race (Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway) in 2009.

32) by a 90-point gap entering the final speedway race of the season at Kansas Speedway on September 30. Currently, Patrick Sheltra is first in the CGS Imaging Hard Charger, first in the Racing Electronics Lighting Challenge and first in the Fast Track High Performance Driving School award.

Nice Statistic; Solid Stats: By posting his 12th top-10 finish of the season at the Chicagoland Speedway on August 27, Sheltra is the only driver in the ARCA Racing Series to finish inside the top-10 in 12 of the 15 races completed thus far in 2010. Sheltra kicked off his strongest start to an ARCA season with a fifth place performance at Daytona, a 10th place performance at Palm Beach, a fourth place run at Salem Speedway, a seventh place outing at Texas Motor Speedway, his season-best second at ‘Dega, an eighth at Toledo Speedway, a fourth place run at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, a third place outing in the Racing for Wildlife 200 at Michigan International Speedway, a sixth place at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, a second-place outing in the Berlin ARCA 200 at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, a 13th place outing at New Jersey Motorsports Park and most recently, a win on the dirt at the Illinois State Fairgrounds and another win in round number 15 at Chicagoland Speedway.

Patrick Sheltra ARCA Career At-A-Glance: Entering Du Quoin, Sheltra has 82 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with three career victories at Salem (Ind.) Speedway (April 2009), the Illinois State Fairgrounds (August 2010) and Chicagoland Speedway (August 2010). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 18 top-fives and posted 34 top-10 finishes. A second place qualifying effort at Chicagoland Speedway (August 2010) is Sheltra’s best time trials effort to date. He has controlled the ARCA field nine times for 273 laps.

On Chicagoland Speedway: “What an awesome car we had at Chicagoland. Jon (Wolfe, crew chief) and the team gave me the best speedway car I’ve ever had. Triad gave us a killer motor. The car was strong from the moment we unloaded. To qualifying second was big for us but then to win the biggest race of my career under the lights at Chicagoland Speedway was literally one of the greatest moments of my life. I was super happy for everyone involved with Sheltra Motorsports”

On The Du Quoin State Fairgrounds: “I’m going back to Du Quoin with unfinished business. We had a stout car there last year but an engine failure potentially cost us a victory. I want Du Quoin and I want it bad.”

On Going For The Illinois Sweep: “We have a great shot. To win three in a row is huge for anyone but that would be a first for me and Sheltra Motorsports. I know we can do it, we just need to stay focused and in the game. I don’t want the sweep just for me, I want it for everyone including my guys who have kept our Sheltra Motorsports car up-front all year long.”

On The Championship Chase: “It feels good to be within 10 points of the lead but Craig (Goess) and Frank (Kimmel) are going to be good the rest of the year. I really think it’s going to come down to the team who has the best luck in the final five races that will take home the championship. Right now, our chances are looking real good!”

Sheltra Motorsports, Du Quoin State Fairgrounds Pre-Race Quotes: Jon Wolfe, crew chief of the No. 60 Patrick Sheltra.com / Ferguson Pipe Dodge Charger

On The Momentum Heading To Du Quoin After Winning At The Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield) and Chicagoland: “Things are starting to really click for us, and I could not be any happier to go back to a dirt track on Monday.”

On Why Bringing The Same Dodge Charger From Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield) To Du Quoin Was Crucial: “First we could not have turned this car around without the help of Timmy McKichan and his crew at Performance Vehicle Works. Those guys were able to repair the body while we were in Chicagoland. And our guys have put in a bunch of hours to get it back together, as most every piece was damaged. It’s just a good and been one of Patrick’s favorite pieces, so we felt like it was crucial to have it for him in order to have a solid chance at completing the Illinois sweep.”

On The Recent Climb In The Championship Chase: “We knew that if we could stay in the hunt coming into this stretch that we would have an advantage. We will not give up, and I think that Springfield was a perfect example of that. So we will not be happy unless we leave Du Quoin leading the points.”

On Going For The Illinois Sweep: “That would be pretty cool, we are still a little bitter over not winning the Bill France Four Crown, so an Illinois sweep would probably be something that has not been done before.”

On What The Last Two Wins Have Meant To Him As A Crew Chief: “To me our team winning has been more about our team, so many hours and so much sacrifice. No one deserves it more than this team. That is what keeps me motivated, we had been so close and now we are just hungry for more.”

Last Time Out; Illinois State Fairgrounds: Patrick Sheltra returned to the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois looking for a win in the Allen Crowe 100. After finishing third in two of his prior starts at the one-mile clay oval, Sheltra was hoping for a better result. After practicing in the top-three, Sheltra qualified his Dodge Charger fifth and kept his No. 60 Sheltra Motorsports Dodge in the top-five until a hiccup by the driver saw the all-camouflage machine backed into the outside wall in turn three.

After damage control, Sheltra would be wiped into another incident which at the time put his chances of winning the race grim. Though on a late race restart, Sheltra in his typical Mr. Showtime fashion stormed to an unprotected outside line on lap 91 to pass eight cars and shove his mangled machine into the lead. Not even a green-white-checkered finish could keep Sheltra from earning his second career victory as Sheltra stunning restart rewarded the Sheltra Motorsports team with their first win of the 2010 season.

Welcome Back To The Windy City: Patrick Sheltra returns to the Windy City looking to make his fifth career start at the Chicagoland Speedway. Sheltra returns to the aggressive cookie-cutter track looking for his second straight top-10 finish. Chicagoland Speedway holds the spot of Sheltra’s inaugural ARCA Racing Series debut in 2005 driving a second entry for Clements Racing. After qualifying an impressive 21st, clutch problems sidelined Sheltra. His best finish in four previous starts at Chicagoland Speedway was ninth last August.

Program; Get Your Program!: Patrick Sheltra will be one of the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards driver featured in the official Chicagoland Speedway, Ansell Protective Gloves 150 race program. Although it will be Sheltra’s first time spotlighted in a race program at Chicagoland Speedway, Sheltra has been the center of attention in other events programs including Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway and Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway.

Moving Forward Again: For the eighth time in his ARCA career, 24-year old Patrick Sheltra will pilot a Toyota Camry in Friday night’s contest. Sheltra competed under the Japanese banner at Texas Motor Speedway in April where Sheltra revived himself from being collected in an early race incident to score a solid seventh place finish. Sheltra also piloted a Toyota Camry to two of his seven top-five finishes of the year at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway and a week later at Michigan International Speedway with a third-place outing.

Additionally, the team ran a Camry at Iowa Speedway earlier this month before engine failure while locked in the top-10 resulted in a disappointing finish. The Mooresville, North Carolina team was able to put their Toyota program back on track in their most recent Camry outing at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway with a sixth place finish. Last season under the guidance of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship organization Germain Racing, Sheltra hoisted a Camry at Michigan International Speedway and at the season-finale at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway.

Double-Duty For The Team: No, Patrick Sheltra won’t be pulling double-duty on Friday night by competing in the EnjoyIllinois225.com NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event, but his Sheltra Motorsports pit crew will. Immediately following the ARCA race on Friday, the team will switch gears and pit the No. 12 TireMonkey.com / James Carter Attorney Chevrolet Silverado for DGM Racing and driver Mario Gosselin.

Talk About Diversity: Four races ago, Sheltra and his Jon Wolfe-led Sheltra Motorsports team tackled Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, a 2.5-mile triangle and finished sixth. Three races ago, the team headed to the smallest track on the circuit of Berlin (Mich.) Raceway where they muscled a second-place finish. Two weeks ago, the series returned to New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) for the second road course event of the year.

Finally, Sheltra last Sunday trekked back to his roots of dirt with a stop for the ARCA Racing Series at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois, which he won. This Friday night, Sheltra returns to Chicagoland Speedway, the next-to-late mile-and-a-half track of the season. Sheltra has recorded a top-10 finish at each of these racecourses since his invasion into the ARCA Racing Series in 2007. Berlin (Mich.) Raceway also kicked off the start of the Bill France Four Crown, which is a separate title in itself where the driver with the best average finish of four selected race tracks will receive a bonus at the championship banquet in December.

After That Crown Too: With the Bill France Four Crown officially kicking at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway three races ago, Sheltra trails leader Joey Coulter by 45 points for a separate trophy compared to the ARCA Racing Series championship. After two of the four events, Sheltra is fourth overall just 20 points behind second-place held by Tom Hessert. The Bill France Four Crown consists of four differently configured race tracks, Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, New Jersey Motorsports Park, Illinois State Fairgrounds (dirt) and finally, Chicagoland Speedway at the end of the month. The driver with the best average finish of those four race tracks will receive a bonus at the championship banquet in December.

New Record Set; But Thirsty For More: While eclipsing his seventh top-five finish of the year and win last weekend at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, Patrick Sheltra continues to rewrite the his own personal record books for the number of finishes inside the top-five and top-10 for a full-season. In his previous three full-time seasons, Sheltra had posted a season high of four top-five finishes in 2009. Sheltra’s personal best overall season of nine top-10 finishes in 2008 was overtaken by his performance in the Allen Crowe 100. Thus far in 2010, Sheltra has mastered seven one win, seven top-fives and 11 top-10 finishes in 14 races. Sheltra is hoping to expand his new personal record with six races remaining this year.

Point’s Check: 14 races down, six to go, Sheltra with the guidance of crew chief Jon Wolfe sits fourth in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings accumulating 3165 points and 40 markers behind leader Frank Kimmel. The driver nicknamed “Mr. Showtime” rose to fourth and gained 55 points on Kimmel after his second career victory last Sunday at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. The 24-year old Sheltra also controls the fourth position in the ARS car owner standings. The top-seven ARCA Racing Series drivers are separated by just 130 points to the leader for control of the top spot in the championship chase. Earlier this year, Sheltra held the top-spot for three consecutive races (Toledo, Michigan and Pocono) in a row after also sharing the top-spot with Parker Kligerman for one race (Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway) in 2009.

Sheltra’s Covered; In Contention For Special Point Standings Too: While the Sheltra Motorsports team is searching for their first championship, the team is still after a host of other awards too. Patrick Sheltra and mother Grace Sheltra leads the ARCA “special points” Superspeedway Challenge sector. Car owner Grace Sheltra leads Kevin Cywinski (No. 32) by a 65-point gap entering this weekend festivities. Patrick Currently, “Mr. Showtime” is first in the CGS Imaging Hard Charger, second in the Racing Electronics Lighting Challenge and third the Fast Track High Performance Driving School award.

Nice Statistic; Solid Stats: By posting his 11th top-10 finish of the season at the Illinois State Fairgrounds on August 22, Sheltra is one of two drivers in the ARCA Racing Series to finish inside the top-10 in 11 of the 14 races completed thus far in 2010. The only other driver to hold the same stat is Mikey Kile. Sheltra kicked off his strongest start to an ARCA season with a fifth place performance at Daytona, a 10th place performance at Palm Beach, a fourth place run at Salem Speedway, a seventh place outing at Texas Motor Speedway, his season-best second at ‘Dega, an eighth at Toledo Speedway, a fourth place run at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, a third place outing in the Racing for Wildlife 200 at Michigan International Speedway, a sixth place at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, a second-place outing in the Berlin ARCA 200 at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, a 13th place outing at New Jersey Motorsports Park and most recently, a win on the dirt for round number 14 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

Patrick Sheltra ARCA Career At-A-Glance: Entering Chicagoland, Sheltra has 81 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with two career victories at Salem (Ind.) Speedway (April 2009) and the Illinois State Fairgrounds (August 2010). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 17 top-fives and posted 33 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway (April 2009) and Michigan International Speedway (June 2010) is Sheltra’s best time trials effort to date. He has controlled the ARCA field eight times for 188 laps.

On Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield): “I tell you what, the entire Sheltra Motorsports team deserved that win. It literally didn’t sink in that we won the race until Sunday night. I thought we gave the win away in the first half when I lost control and backed it into the wall. That though only gave me motivation to make it up to those guys. The second win feels as good as the first!”

On The Stunning Restart At Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield): “It’s obviously been getting a lot of attention. I wasn’t worrying about anything because I knew I did nothing wrong and the ARCA officials thought the same I did, otherwise I would have been penalized. I could not believe the outside lane was left open like it was and once the green flag came out, the opening was still there, so I took advantage of it and it helped us secure the win.”

On Chicagoland Speedway: “I’m looking forward to going back to Chicagoland. I learned a heck of a lot about the track last year when Ted (Musgrave) was my driver coach. Overall, our bigger track program has been exceptionally strong this year and I expect it to stay that way this weekend. I’m also looking forward to being back in a Toyota.”

On The Bill France Four Crown: “Joey (Coulter, leader) is still on a tear. Good for him. He’s had a lot of bad luck this year but by no means are we out of contention for the Bill France Four Crown title. We’re only 45 points behind him for the lead and obviously it’s going to take a little bad luck from him to allow myself and the other chasers to make up the ground in the final race. It can happen though and if it does, we’ll do the best we can to capitalize on it and maybe we can become the winner of the Bill France Four Crown.”

On The Championship Chase: “It felt great to make up 55 points last weekend at Springfield. We were lucky though. Still, six races to go and anything can happen. It’s just nice to though this year, we legitimately still have a shot at the championship. I’ve never been this deep into the schedule and had the opportunity to win something of this magnitude. We’re going to keep doing what we’ve been doing all year and hopefully by the time Rockingham finally arrives, we’ll still find ourselves in the hunt.”

Prairie Meadows 200, Iowa Speedway, Newton, Iowa

Race Information: Event: Prairie Meadows 200, Saturday, July 10 at 8:00 p.m. Local Time Track: Iowa Speedway Qualifying: Saturday, July 10 at 5:15 p.m. Local Time; Track Length: .875-mile paved-oval.

Last Time Out; Michigan International Speedway: Patrick Sheltra continued his 2010 ARCA Racing Series surge by posting a solid podium finish in the Racing for Wildlife 200 at Michigan International Speedway on June 12. Returning to the two-mile oval after a successful test a month prior to the event, Sheltra and his Jon Wolfe led team felt that they had one of the contending cars for the eighth race of the season. After practicing in the top-five, Sheltra boasted a third place qualifying effort, a speedway best before utilizing the 100 lap event to keep his No. 60 Sheltra Motorsports Toyota Camry clean and cross the line third, securing his fifth top-five finish of the year and eighth consecutive top-10 in eight races run this year. The performance also accelerates past Sheltra’s best finish at Michigan International Speedway of sixth in 2008.

Returning To The Hawkeye State: Indiantown, Florida native Patrick Sheltra will make his fourth start at the relatively new Iowa Speedway Saturday night. Sheltra made his inaugural debut at the .875-mile short track in 2007 where he qualified 15th and finished 20th. In 2008, Sheltra started eighth and captured his first top-10 finish of the 2008 season by crossing the line ninth. Last year, Sheltra qualified 18th and rallied to finish 14th in his No. 60 Dodge Charger. Sheltra has been running at the finish of all three events.

Remembering A Friend And Racer: Patrick Sheltra and his Sheltra Motorsports team for the second consecutive year will remember and honor former ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards driver and 2008 Iowa Speedway winner Matt Hawkins who died from an accidental gun discharge in February 2009. Sheltra and Hawkins raced each other in several ARCA events including the 2008 Prairie Meadows 250 at Iowa Speedway, Hawkins lone ARCA victory in his inaugural series start. Sheltra Motorsports would like to thank the team’s graphic design company DMC Graphics (Philpot, Kentucky) for supplying the “In Memory of Matt Hawkins” decals for this weekend.

Happy Birthday Mama Grace: Co-Car Owner and Patrick Sheltra’s mother Grace Sheltra celebrated her 54th birthday on Thursday (July 8). Grace Sheltra is one of several female owners in the ARCA Racing Series and was the highest finishing female car owner in 2008. As one of the top-female car owners in the development series, she has one win, 15 top-fives and 30 top-10 finishes to her credit.

Welcome To The Team: Sheltra Motorsports welcomes Brandon Hinson of Hinson Sports Management (HSM) to the team as the Director of Marketing for the long-time ARCA team. Hinson, a long-time fixture in the Motorsports industry will oversee Sheltra’s current and future marketing partner platforms while also creating business-to-business relationships within the Sheltra Motorsports organization and its affiliates. He will also work side-by-side with Sheltra Motorsports’ Manager of Operations and Communications Chris Knight.

Moving Forward Again: For the sixth time in his ARCA career and fourth time this season, 24-year old Patrick Sheltra will pilot a Toyota Camry in Saturday night’s contest. Sheltra competed under the Japanese banner at Texas Motor Speedway in April where Sheltra revived himself from being collected in an early race incident to score a solid seventh place finish. Last month, Sheltra posted another top-five finish of the season by placing fourth at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway. Most recently, Sheltra maneuvered a impressive third place qualifying run and finishing position at Michigan International Speedway in the Racing for Wildlife 200 enabling the team to notch their eighth top-10 finish in a row this year. Last season under the guidance of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship organization Germain Racing, Sheltra hoisted a Camry at Michigan International Speedway and at the season-finale at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway.

Point’s Check: Eight races down, 12 to go, Sheltra with the guidance of crew chief Jon Wolfe sits first in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings accumulating 1885 points and 35 markers ahead of second-place Justin Marks. Sheltra also holds a 75 point gap from third place competitor Mikey Kile. The 24-year old Sheltra also controls the first position in the ARS car owner standings. Sheltra leads his prospective positions in point’s solely on his own for the third consecutive race after sharing the top-spot with Parker Kligerman for one race (Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway) in 2009.

Nice Stats: By posting his eighth top-10 finish of the season at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) on June 11, Sheltra remains the only ARCA Racing Series driver to finish inside the top-10 in all eight races thus far in 2010. Sheltra kicked off his strongest start to an ARCA season with a fifth place performance at Daytona, a 10th place performance at Palm Beach, a fourth place run at Salem Speedway, a seventh place outing at Texas Motor Speedway, his season-best second at ‘Dega, an eighth at Toledo Speedway, a fourth place run at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway and most recently a third place outing in the Racing for Wildlife 200 at MIS.

Closing In On A Record: While eclipsing his fifth top-five finish of the year at Michigan International Speedway last season, Patrick Sheltra holds a new record for the number of finishes inside the top-five for a full-season. In his previous three full-time seasons, Sheltra has posted a year high of four top-five finishes including in 2009. Sheltra personal best of nine top-10 finishes in 2008 is on the verge of being collapsed with Sheltra aiming for nine straight top-10s thus far in 2010. Sheltra is expected to set a new personal season stat record with 12 races remaining this year.

Autographs Anyone?: After his duties at the track on Friday, Sheltra is scheduled to spend his evening at the Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino (Altoona, Iowa) participating in an autograph session from 7:00pm to 8:00pm local time.

Sheltra Motorsports, Iowa Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Patrick Sheltra, driver / owner of the No. 60 Recycling Services / Ferguson Pipe Toyota Camry

On Michigan International Speedway: “We’re real proud of our performance at Michigan. Even though we weren’t able to win, we still produced another strong run which I feel continues to aid our team towards the 2010 ARCA Racing Series championship. We’re knocking on the door of a win, it’s only a matter of time.”

On Iowa Speedway: “Iowa Speedway is a neat place. The track is super nice and provides some great racing. Handling and horsepower are key even though it’s a short track. Jon (Wolfe, crew chief) and I have a game plan for Saturday night and I feel we’ll keep our strong season alive on Saturday night.”

On Matt Hawkins: “You cannot come to Iowa Speedway and not think about Matt Hawkins. He was a good race car driver. He was someone you felt comfortable racing with and you always knew if you raced him clean, he would show you the same respect. He’s greatly missed here in ARCA but his memories live on at Iowa Speedway and all year long.”

On The Team’s Toyota Program In 2010: “It’s been a extreme pleasure to work with Triad and the Toyota folks this year. Every time we have a race with them, we learn something new. They know we’re in the thick for the championship and they are doing everything they possibly can to keep our No. 60 Sheltra Motorsports Toyota Camry out front.”

On Points: “It’s in our minds with every race we go to now. You cannot not help but think about it. We’re getting near the halfway point of the year and we have some promising races ahead for us. What we cannot afford to do is put ourselves in a position where we can put our season at risk and allow the other guys to steal our thunder. The guys on the Sheltra Motorsports team have gone above and beyond every race to give 150 percent and I don’t plan to give anything less than that behind the wheel.”

Sheltra Motorsports, Iowa Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Jon Wolfe, crew chief of the No. 60 Recycling Services / Ferguson Pipe Toyota Camry

On Deciding To Take A Toyota Camry To Iowa Speedway; Rather Than A Dodge Charger: “We have started to transition our cars to Toyota, we are concentrating on the intermediate tracks. Iowa is kind of in between a short track and an intermediate, so with the speed and handling that it (Iowa) requires our Toyota was the right choice.”

On Deciding Not To Test At Iowa Speedway: “We debated hard over the decision to test at Iowa, and decided that we had a good set-up and Patrick has run there more than once. So we choose to work hard on our inventory for the other upcoming events as the schedule is getting ready to become very hectic.”

On The Keys To Succeeding At Iowa Speedway: “The track at Iowa is still pretty new so it holds a lot of grip in the surface, so the guys will be able to go hard in the beginning of a run. The team that will have the most success is the one who can go hard for the entire run on fuel and tires.”

On How Much Of A Difference Will It Be To Practice And Qualify In The Day But Race At Night At Iowa Speedway? “The difference between day and night is normally not a big deal, if your car is a little tight in the day it will get tighter at night. You just need to be smart about your adjustments.”

On Potentially Winning The Prairie Meadows 200 At Iowa Speedway: “There are so many variables when it comes to winning a race, so no one can predict a win. We’ve been consistent and in the hunt all season long, so those are some of the elements that it takes when it comes to winning. We do know that if we keep running up front a win will come soon.”

(TOLEDO, Ohio – June 15, 2010) – In addition to a national championship at stake, the battle lines are clearly forming for other prestigious titles here in the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards.

No. 60 Recycling Services Toyota Camry

One of those titles is the crowning of the Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Champion, the official presentation coming each season at the championship awards banquet in Covington, Kentucky.

At present, Sheltra Motorsports – the combination of car owner Grace Sheltra and driver Patrick Sheltra – lead the superspeedway charge with 920 points.

“We’ve stepped it up this year,” said Patrick Sheltra. “There’s no questioning that. Our restrictor plate performances have been more successful this year than in all my other years of competition. Not to mention our strong run at Michigan last week. There’s still a long road ahead as far as the speedway challenge is concerned, but to have everyone chasing us is a nice change instead of the other way around.”

The Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Championship is a separate points title combining all the superspeedway events on the annual ARCA Racing Series schedule. This year’s superspeedway schedule is made up of events at Daytona, Texas, Talladega, Pocono, Michigan, Chicagoland and Kansas.

Car owner Grace Sheltra also credits the team effort.

“To be leading the speedway challenge in the ARCA Racing Series is a testament to our race team,” Grace Sheltra said. “We’ve struggled more on the bigger tracks in the past compared to this season. Previously, we’ve never ever been close to contending for this honor. The dedication, focus and “want” from the team and Patrick has installed the drive to succeed on all of the tracks this season. We cannot predict what may happen in upcoming races, but we plan to be a threat nonetheless. It sure would be nice to take home two trophies at year’s end.”

Patrick Sheltra

Sheltra, who also leads the overall championship points battle, has been a model of consistency in 2010, and the only driver on tour who has not finished out of the top-10. His impeccable performance on the superspeedways this year has a lot to do with his leading the points in both categories.

“I would say to post eight top-10 finishes in eight races this season is pretty commendable,” Patrick Sheltra added. “We haven’t been able to seal the deal with a win yet but in time that will come. We just need to keep doing what we’ve been doing and that is top-fiving and top-10ing the field to death. Eventually, the door will open up and we’ll celebrate in victory lane again.”

In fact, Sheltra has been the best of the best superspeedway-wise this year with speedway finishes of second at Talladega, third at Michigan, fourth at Pocono, fifth at Daytona and seventh at Texas. Everything, seemingly, expect a win.

“It’s not like we’ve gone to the races this year and finished inside the top-10 but weren’t a threat for the win. We started off the season in championship mode and really haven’t looked back since. I know when Matt Kenseth won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship in 2003, he only won one race. There is no doubt in my mind that our team will win more than one race this season. We’ll get there; it’s just taking a little longer than we all would like. Until then, we’ll keep running like we have been all season long and keep turning some heads.”

The No. 25 owner/driver combo of Cathy Venturini and Mikey Kile, the most recent winners on tour from Michigan, are currently second in the Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge points with 855, just five points ahead of the No. 32 Win Tron Racing team (owner Nate Thiesse/driver Justin Marks) at 850. The No. 81 of Eddie Sharp Racing (owner Eddie Sharp/driver Craig Goess) is fourth with 790 ahead of the Kimmel Racing team (owner & driver Frank Kimmel) in fifth with 765.

The award officially goes to the car owner and is officially awarded in December at the annual championship awards banquet.

The late Davey Allison was the first recipient of ARCA’s superspeedway championship in 1984. Since then, the list of past winners is tall and mighty. Past Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Champions include Eddie Sharp (driver Justin Lofton), Ray Evernham (driver Erin Crocker), Larry Clement (driver Frank Kimmel), Ken Schrader (driver Bill Baird), Harold Steele (driver Tim Steele), Kerry Scherer (driver Mark Gibson), Barry Owen (driver Mike Wallace), James Finch (driver Jeff Purvis), Ron Keselowski (driver Bob Keselowski), Cathy Venturini (driver Bill Venturini) and Don Biederman (driver Tracy Leslie) to name a few.

The qualification run also awarded Sheltra five bonus points based on ARCA’s qualifying procedure.

Sheltra was also one of only four drivers to break into the 38-second bracket and the Indiantown, Florida native was able to better his practice run from earlier in the day.

The 24-year old rising star elected to only run one of two allotted laps in Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying after negotiating his No. 60 Recycling Services / Ferguson Pipe Toyota Camry to a time of 38.691 seconds at 186.090 miles per hour. At the time, Sheltra went to second on the overall qualifying board only to be bumped by eventual pole sitter Craig Goess.

The lap in the Grace Sheltra owned automobile was over three and a half tenths faster than the organization’s second fastest time in practice Thursday morning.

Sheltra, the only driver to finish in the top-10 in all seven ARCA Racing Series events this season shattered his previous best non-rained out qualifying run at Michigan International Speedway of 19th back in 2008. Last year, the Mooresville, North Carolina-based operation started seventh after time trials were rained out due to inclement weather.

“We would have liked to have been on the pole, but we’ll take third and look at the bigger picture tomorrow, winning the race,” offered Sheltra, who will make his fifth start at MIS Friday evening. “That was the fastest lap we have turned at Michigan this year, so we really can’t complain. I want to thank my guys, Triad and our marketing partners for their support and assistance this weekend.”

Sheltra continued, “One of the big keys to Michigan is clean air and starting in third, we should have plenty of that. I’m real happy with our Toyota program this year and it’s all Toyotas in the first three spots, so it’s bound to be a good show. We here to win but we’re also keeping the bigger picture in mind. We want to leave here with another good finish that keeps our team in the spotlight.”

The Racing for Wildlife 200 marks the fifth time in Sheltra’s career where he will pilot a Toyota Camry in an ARCA event. The team has run two races thus far in 2010 with the Japanese nameplate at Texas Motor Speedway and most recently last weekend at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway. The team rebounded from being collected in an early race altercation at Texas to finish seventh and posted their fourth top-five run of the year last Saturday at Pocono by crossing the line fourth.

Justin Marks who is now 30 points behind Sheltra in the ARCA Racing Series championship chase netted the 12th fastest time in qualifying, with Venturini Motorsports’ Mikey Kile who is third in the overall championship rundown grabbed the outside pole for tomorrow’s contest. With Kile’s effort, he chopped five points off his deficit to Sheltra in the point standings now sitting 90 markers behind the ARCA pro. Sheltra now has 1670 points overall, compared to 1665 markers earned entering the garage area this morning.

Cost-effective marketing partnerships are still available for Michigan International Speedway this weekend and for the remainder of the 2010 ARCA Racing Series season. For additional information, please contact marketing@patricksheltra.com.

Sheltra has 74 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem (Ind.) Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 14 top-fives and posted 29 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway (April 2009) and Michigan International Speedway (June 2010) is Sheltra’s best time trials effort to date. He has controlled the ARCA field six times for 148 laps.

The Racing for Wildlife 200 (100 laps / 200 miles) is the eighth of 20 events on the 2010 ARCA Racing Series schedule. The 29th ARCA race at Michigan International Speedway is a two-day show. The event will take the green flag on Friday, June 11 shortly after 5:00 p.m. The event will air live on SPEED. Additional race coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the week will be available through the BAS Racing Network in conjunction with the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.

Two weeks ago, Sheltra visited the track which is nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan for the open ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards test in preparation for ARCA’s 29th appearance at the International Speedway Corporation (ISC) facility.

Sheltra was speechless when he exited his rental car and approached his Sheltra Motorsports hauler. “All I said in my head was wow,” explained the Indiantown, Florida native. “I knew that the track was going through some major changes but seeing the actual changes in person makes you really think about what the track is doing for the future.”

After participating in the morning test session, the ARCA pro visited the new infield Media Center during his lunch break, which was heavily populated with guests and media. At first, Sheltra wasn’t sure he was at the right place — referring back to his memories of the old infield Media Center, but once being confirmed he was in the right place, Sheltra wasn’t afraid to hold any comments back.

“What Michigan International Speedway has done is commendable,” sounded Sheltra. “The track has a lot of rich history and hosts a variety of different racing series but seeing the changes they have made from last year to this year is just impressive.”

The estimated cost of the track’s improvements would be substantial enough to fund a solid NASCAR Sprint Cup Series effort for an entire season. Instead, though the track decided to put their old layout in a memory box and make a commitment to the racing industry that new memories would be created.”

“All the series and even the tracks are struggling in some way, shape or form,” Sheltra mentioned. “However for Michigan to dig deep into their pockets to give the track a make-over, especially dealing with the rocky economy that we are in – it just shows that not only are they here for the fans but they are here for the teams as well.”

In addition to the vast array of upgrades of facilities, meeting rooms, suites and tunnel, the track has always taken on an “eco-friendly” approach by utilizing efficient devices that will help save energy while allowing everyone to continue business as normal.

“I’m all about change,” noted Sheltra, who hopes to return to Michigan International Speedway next year in either the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series or NASCAR Nationwide Series. “We started seeing the changes a couple years ago at Michigan with our title sponsor for the race (Racing for Wildlife) and the neat scoring pylon, but I’ve also noticed that the track this weekend is doing a lot with recycling and I understand that they are using eco-friendly materials to make this place safer for the planet. We have Recycling Services on the hood of our Toyota Camry this weekend, so we’re a firm believer in aiding with the track’s goal of making this great racing place more environmental friendly for everyone.”

Sheltra also known as “Mr. Showtime” in the ARCA Racing Series also is quick to point out that while some of the tracks he visits in the ARCA Racing Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series and even in the dirt late model are unable financially to make the investments that MIS has made, he feels that the tracks can lean on them to make improvements that would be cost efficient to their particular budget.”

“Obviously, Michigan has been around for a long time and they have some of the resources that other tracks may not have – but I honestly believe that there are steps that the other tracks we visit could make on a smaller scale that would make their race track more environmentally safe and efficient for everyone for many more years to come,” he concluded.

A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field six times for 148 laps.

Racing for Wildlife 200 Fast Facts

ARCA Racing Series Race No. 8, Racing for Wildlife 200

Michigan International Speedway, Brooklyn, Michigan

Race Information: Event: Racing for Wildlife 200; Friday, June 11 at 5:15 p.m. Local Time Track: Michigan International Speedway Qualifying: Thursday, June 10, at 3:00 p.m. Local Time; Track Length: 2.0-mile paved-oval.

Last Time Out; Pocono Raceway: In his eighth ARCA Racing Series start at the track nicknamed “The Tricky Triangle”, Patrick Sheltra and the Sheltra Motorsports team were able to bounce back from a flat tire early in the race to finish fourth in the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200. Green flag pit stops for a majority of the field also removed the Mooresville, North Carolina team from the lead lap. Thankfully, the team would be rewarded with the Aaron’s Lucky Dog which put them back on the lead circuit. Unable to recoup from starting at the tail end of the longest line for being the beneficiary of the free pass, Sheltra and company settled for fourth notching their seventh consecutive top-10 finish in 2010.

Heading Back To The Motor City: For the fifth time in his ARCA Racing Series career, Patrick Sheltra returns to Michigan International Speedway looking to boast an impressive eight top-10 finishes in eight races. Previously at the two-mile oval, Sheltra has amassed a career best finish of sixth occurring in June of 2008 after starting 19th.

Sheltra Tested; Team Approved: The Jon Wolfe-led Sheltra Motorsports organization participated in an open test at Michigan International Speedway last month with very satisfying results. The team brought a new Toyota Camry purchased during the off-season and the purchase paid off. After posting the third position in the morning practice session, the team stepped it up a notch in the afternoon run to secure the second-fastest time overall in the eight hour test.

Moving Forward Again: For also the fifth time in his ARCA career and third time this season, 24-year old Patrick Sheltra will pilot a Toyota Camry in Friday’s contest. Sheltra competed under the Japanese banner at Texas Motor Speedway in April where Sheltra revived himself from being collected in an early race incident to score a solid seventh place finish. Most recently, Sheltra posted his fourth top-five finish of the season by placing fourth at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway last Saturday. Last season under the guidance of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship organization Germain Racing, Sheltra hoisted a Camry at Michigan International Speedway and at the season-finale at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway.

Kitchens In The House: Former NASCAR driver Jimmy Kitchens will take the role as spotter for Patrick Sheltra in Friday’s Racing for Wildlife 200. Kitchens, who spots for Stewart-Haas Racing driver Ryan Newman in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) is substituting for normal companion spotter Jason Jarrett, who will be in Kentucky with his full-time team Germain Racing this weekend. Kitchens spotted for Sheltra last weekend at Pocono and guided the pilot to his fourth top-five run of 2010.

Point’s Check: Seven races down, 13 to go, Sheltra with the guidance of crew chief Jon Wolfe sits first in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings accumulating 1665 points and 25 markers ahead of second-place Justin Marks. Sheltra also holds a 95 point gap from third place competitor Mikey Kile. Mother and car owner Grace Sheltra also controls the first position in the ARS car owner standings. Together both Sheltra’s lead their prospective positions in point’s solely on their own for the second consecutive race after sharing the top-spot with Parker Kligerman for one race (Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway) in 2009.

Nice Stats: By posting his seventh top-10 finish of the season at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway last weekend, Sheltra remains the only ARCA Racing Series driver to finish inside the top-10 in all seven races thus far in 2010. Sheltra kicked off his strongest start to an ARCA season with a fifth place performance at Daytona, a 10th place performance at Palm Beach, a fourth place run at Salem Speedway, a seventh place outing at Texas Motor Speedway, his season-best second at ‘Dega, an eighth in the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway and most recently a fourth place run in the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200.

Hanging With The Kid’s Again: Before the Racing for Wildlife 200, Sheltra and a large group of the starting field will participate in the annual MIS Cares day at Michigan International Speedway. Each year, the track hosts children from various charities including Make-A-Wish of Michigan and DeVos Children’s hospital during the June event weekend. Sheltra will sign autographs and converse with the kids starting at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 11.

Sheltra Motorsports, Michigan International Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Patrick Sheltra, driver of the No. 60 Recycling Services / Ferguson Pipe Toyota Camry

On Pocono Raceway: “We had some bad luck at the start of the race, but in typical Sheltra Motorsports fashion we were able to bounce back with another solid finish. I’m so proud of the team and was happy to get another top-10 finish at one of my favorite ARCA tracks.”

On Michigan International Speedway: “Michigan is a very forgiving track. It’s a place where if you make a mistake, it’s wide enough where most of the time you are able to recover. The track though is hard on your equipment. So if you are able to keep your equipment in-check and keep your fenders clean, you’re virtually guaranteed a good run.”

On Michigan International Speedway Test: “I was extremely satisfied with the Michigan International Speedway test. Jon (Wolfe, crew chief) was able to give me a great handling car from the moment we unloaded and I think we showed the competition that we’re going to be a threat this weekend.”

On The Team’s Toyota Program In 2010: “It’s been a real pleasure to work with Triad and the Toyota folks this season. We had some bad luck with them last year at Michigan and Rockingham but this year I’ve personally experienced why the manufacturer is so popular in the ARCA Racing Series. There is no doubt in my mind that our team aligning with Toyota and Triad has enhanced our performance on the bigger tracks in 2010.”

On Points: “We’re not planning on relinquishing the point’s lead back to anyone but Justin (Marks) and his Win-Tron Racing team have been very strong this season. There are a couple other guys who are having some good runs that really could sneak up and join our fight for the early race to the championship. I would like to say it’s too early to start worrying about the point’s, but the minute you stop worrying is the minute you find yourself trying to play catch-up. We can’t control everything that happens on the race track, we just need to keep digging and perform like we have been all season long.”

Sheltra Motorsports, Michigan International Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Jon Wolfe, crew chief of the No. 60 Recycling Services / Ferguson Pipe Toyota Camry

On Michigan International Speedway: “The track at Michigan is very dependent, so starting up front is very important. Also, handling is crucial; you can pass cars if you handle well. Big horsepower is definitely a must.”

On The Michigan International Speedway Test Two Weeks Ago: “Our test was the best so far this year. We unloaded well and were able to fine tune and try new things from there. I really feel like it will be our race to lose, we have so much momentum and confidence right now that we just know that winning is right around the corner.”

On The Advantage That Toyota May Have Over The Other Manufacturers At Michigan: “There is no denying that the Toyota’s are making awesome horsepower and Triad is delivering that to us. We are maybe still a tick behind finding the right balance with the Camry body, but each time out we gain a little more.”

On The Success Of Seven Consecutive Top-10 Finishes In 2010: “Chemistry. Our team has it. We don’t have any drama, fighting or questioning of what the mission is. We are 100 percent committed to Patrick (Sheltra) and the whole Sheltra family. We plan to keep our streak alive on Friday at Michigan.”

On What It Would Mean To Win At Michigan: “We have a void right now, winning will fill that void. Being consistent and being in position to win is what we have been doing, but we need to close the deal. This sport is about winning and we are hungry, this could be our week.”

Sheltra Motorsports, Michigan International Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Grace Sheltra, owner of the No. 60 Recycling Services / Ferguson Pipe Toyota Camry

On Pocono Raceway: “Words cannot describe the emotions that Pocono brought to the team last weekend. We had some highs and lows but in the end we were on the positive side and were able to secure another great finish. Teamwork wins and I think we proved that last weekend.”

On Michigan International Speedway: “Michigan is a fun race track. It’s a very wide track which will ultimately fits to Patrick’s driving style. The team is excited about the race on Friday after the test a couple weeks ago and I think we could easily find ourselves celebrating with our first win of the year this weekend.”

On The 2010 Season Thusfar: “We’ve been in the hunt to win a couple races this year but certain obstacles have kept us from checking that off our list this season. Other than that, it’s been a nearly flawless season so far. The team has really gone the extra mile to make sure we are competitive from the moment we unload off the hauler. Patrick seems more focused this year based on the results we’re having. All around, we’re having a great year and if things continue we should be the one to beat for the championship. On the flip side, we’re hoping to bring some more marketing partners on-board with our race team and hopefully plan to make some announcements soon.”

Though they struggled to find the perfect setup in the No. 32 Construct Corps machine, the team and driver never gave up, kept the fenders on the car and rebounded to a seventh place finish.

Moving onto Michigan International Speedway this weekend, Win-Tron expects success based on their strong runs in five previous starts, including two top-five and two top-10 finishes. Marks owns three previous starts at the 2-mile paved oval, with a best finish of 10th in 2006. In an effort to prep the No. 32 Construct Corps Toyota for this weekend’s action, Win-Tron participated in an open test at MIS two weeks ago, laying down a best time of 39.883 seconds, good enough for 10th quickest on the charts. The team was able to gather valuable information from that test and has put together a solid baseline setup to start with for Thursday morning’s first practice session.

Qualifying for the 100-lap event is scheduled for 3 pm EST on Thursday, with live timing and scoring available on ARCARacing.com. In addition to on-track activity on Thursday afternoon, Justin will also participate in an autograph session on Main Street in Brooklyn, Michigan during Brooklyn-Irish Hills Race Fest presented by Country Market. Drivers from the ARCA Racing Series will be in attendance to converse with fans and promote the race the following day.

Appearances will be from 6-7:00 PM and the event is free to attend. Prior to the drop of the green flag at 5 pm EST on Friday afternoon, Marks will also be a part of a very special autograph session in the track infield for children from various charities including Make-A-Wish of Michigan and DeVos Children’s Hospital.

Marks was set back a few more points after Pocono by virtue of finishing three positions behind current points leader Patrick Sheltra, and will enter the Racing for Wildlife 200 25 markers behind in second place. Car owner Kevin Cywinski trails Grace Sheltra (No. 60) by 25 points in car owner’s points standings.

Justin Marks on Michigan

I like Michigan and I’ve been competitive and led laps there so I know that I can get around that place. If we do the best we can and work hard on what we gathered from the test, we’ll persevere. With Championship teams, when it doesn’t go right we salvage top-ten finishes every week and keep digging.

Co-Owner Nate Thiesse on Michigan, this season

Michigan provides a great place race to for the competitors and teams and usually puts on a whale of a show for the fans. We’ve had some strong performances over the past couple years there and we are aiming to put ourselves in position for our second win of the season. Justin has plenty of experience at Michigan in both ARCA and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and he knows what it takes to run strong there. We felt like we learned a lot at the test a couple weeks ago which should help us on Friday for the race.

Overall, we don’t have any room to complain about this season. Our two finishes outside the top-10 have really bad just cases of bad luck. We finished 11th at Daytona and then 16th at Toledo a couple weeks ago. Other than those finishes, we’ve been keeping the No. 32 Construct Corps machine up front. Justin has excelled past our early season expectations and the entire team has really gelled well together. We just need to keep giving all we can every week and hope we’ll stay in this championship chase.

Raceway, Indiantown, Florida native Patrick Sheltra steers towards Michigan International Speedway (MIS), site of Friday’s Racing for Wildlife 200 aiming for more than a win. The current ARCA point’s leader is also thriving on keeping his virtually flawless season alive.

The 24-year old Sheltra has experienced his fair share of hiccups in 2010 but the determination and “never give up” attitude from his Sheltra Motorsports team has kept the ARCA pro on his toes which has ultimately led to his strongest start to a racing season ever.

Speaking of his team, the Jon Wolfe-led operation returns to MIS this week pumped following their open-test at the two-mile oval two weeks ago which saw the Mooresville, North Carolina-based race team claim second overall during the eight hour free practice run. Armed with the same Toyota Camry and plenty of confidence, the team feels that their first win could be inevitable at the conclusion of the eighth race of the year.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited to go back to Michigan,” said Sheltra, driver of the No. 60 Recycling Services / Ferguson Pipe Toyota Camry. “This is a brand new car to the Sheltra Motorsports stable this year and it’s been stout. The test went real good. We were very consistent on race runs and exceptionally strong in qualifying trim; I cannot wait to get going on Thursday.”

Wolfe, crew chief of the Grace Sheltra-owned machine is equally excited about Friday’s contest.

“Our test was the best so far this year,” Wolfe remarked. “We unloaded well and were able to fine tune and try new things from there. I really feel like it will be our race to lose, we have so much momentum and confidence right now that we just know that winning is right around the corner.”

The aspiring NASCAR driver will make his fifth start at the Irish Hills based speed plant on Friday afternoon. In his previous starts, Sheltra has mastered a best finish of sixth in 2008 after qualifying 19th. Sheltra started the 100-lap event last year in the seventh position and had worked his No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Toyota Camry up into the third position before the engine expired on lap 73 resulting in a 33rd place finish.

“My results have been mixed at Michigan,” sounded Sheltra. “I like the track. It’s so wide that it allows a driver to maneuver their way around the track three and sometimes four wide. We’ve always raced well there even when we weren’t able to make it to the end. Nonetheless, we have our goals set for the weekend. We would like to put ourselves in contention for the win and try and extend our lead in the point standings.”

Sheltra, also known as “Mr. Showtime” in the ARCA garage added, “In order to being in the hunt for the win, you have to keep the fenders clean and make yourself aware that the race could be won or lost based on fuel mileage. I’ve had so many scenarios go through my head this week but when I put that helmet on Friday, I’ll know what I need to do and we’ll look to keep doing what we’ve been doing all year long and that’s finishing strong and putting our team in the spotlight.”

Cost-effective marketing partnerships are still available for Michigan International Speedway this weekend and for the remainder of the 2010 ARCA Racing Series season. For additional information, please contact marketing@patricksheltra.com.

Entering Michigan, Sheltra has 74 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem (Ind.) Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 14 top-fives and posted 29 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field six times for 148 laps.

The Racing for Wildlife 200 (100 laps / 200 miles) is the eighth of 20 events on the 2010 ARCA Racing Series schedule. The 29th ARCA race at Michigan International Speedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Thursday, June 10 with a two hour practice session planned from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is set for later in the day slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.

ARCA Racing Series Race No. 7, Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200,

Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, Long Pond, Pennsylvania

Race Information: Event: Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200, Saturday, June 5 at 1:00 p.m. Local Time Track: Pocono (Pa.) Raceway Qualifying: Friday, June 4, at 1:45 p.m. Local Time; Track Length: 2.5-mile paved-triangle.

Last Time Out; Toledo Speedway: In his sixth race of the 2010 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards, Patrick Sheltra along with his Sheltra Motorsports team were able to keep their top-10 streak alive with an eighth place run in the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care. Sheltra qualified a distant 18th but after charging through the field and into the top-10, Sheltra would have to rebound from a mid-race spin to collect his fourth top-10 at the half-mile short track. The impressive recovery awarded Sheltra and his posse with the ARCA point’s lead by 10 markers after six races.

Returning Back To The Long Pond: The Indiantown, Florida native will make his eighth start at the popular triangle race course and aim for his second top-five finish this weekend. In his previous seven efforts, Sheltra has acquired a track best of third last June. Qualifying though has not been a downfall for the popular driver as Sheltra has nailed five top-15 qualifying runs including a track best of eighth in the spring race of this year.

Moving Forward Again: For just the fourth time in his ARCA career, 24-year old Patrick Sheltra will pilot a Toyota Camry in Saturday’s contest. Sheltra competed under the Japanese banner at Texas Motor Speedway in April where Sheltra revived himself from being collected in an early race incident to score a solid seventh place finish. Last season under the guidance of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship organization Germain Racing, Sheltra hoisted a Camry at Michigan International Speedway and at the season-finale at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway.

Testing, Testing, 123….: After finishing eighth at Toledo Speedway in the most recent ARCA event, the Sheltra Motorsports team took a much-deserved day off on Monday before making the hour trip to Michigan International Speedway on Tuesday, June 25 for an open-test in preparation for next Friday’s Racing for Wildlife 200. Sheltra armed with a Toyota Camry posted the third fastest time in the morning session and improved to record the second fastest effort in the afternoon. Overall, the Sheltra Motorsports team placed second during the eight-hour practice session.

Hanging With The Kid’s: Before the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200, Sheltra and a large group of the starting field will participate in the third annual Pocono Raceway “Kids Day” event. The event is free to kids attending the ARCA event with their families. Sheltra will sign autographs and converse with the kids from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. on Saturday June 5.

Marketing Partnerships Still Available: Multiple cost-effective marketing partnership packages are still available for the 2010 ARCA Racing Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series seasons for Patrick Sheltra. Let Sheltra Motorsports show you how to find victory lane in more ways than one! For additional information on how to be apart of our winning organization, please contact marketing@patricksheltra.com.

Point’s Check: Six races down, 14 to go, Sheltra with the guidance of crew chief Jon Wolfe sits first in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings accumulating 1455 points and just 10 markers ahead of second-place Justin Marks. Sheltra holds a slim 65 point margin from third place competitor Steve Arpin. Mother and car owner Grace Sheltra also controls the first position in the ARS car owner standings. Together both Sheltra’s lead their prospective positions in point’s solely on their own after sharing the top-spot with Parker Kligerman for one race in 2009.

Sheltra’s Covered In Special Point Standings Too: In addition to controlling the ARCA Racing Series championship car owner leader entering the seventh race of the year this weekend at Pocono, Sheltra Motorsports also leads the ARCA “special points” Superspeedway Challenge sector. Car owner Grace Sheltra leads Kevin Cywinski (No. 32) by a 50-point gap entering this weekend festivities. Patrick Sheltra leads three categories of the “special points” sections as well. Currently, “Mr. Showtime” is first in the CGS Imaging Hard Charger, Racing Electronics Lighting Challenge and the Fast Track High Performance Driving School award.

Nice Stats: By posting his sixth top-10 finish of the season at Toledo (Oh.) Speedway two weeks ago, Sheltra remains the only ARCA Racing Series driver to finish inside the top-10 in all six races thus far in 2010. Sheltra kicked off his strongest start to an ARCA season with a fifth place performance at Daytona, a 10th place performance at Palm Beach, a fourth place run at Salem Speedway, a seventh place outing at Texas Motor Speedway, his season-best second at ‘Dega and an eighth in the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care.

Patrick Sheltra ARCA Career At-A-Glance: Entering Pocono, Sheltra has 73 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem (Ind.) Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 13 top-fives and posted 28 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field six times for 148 laps.

Sheltra Motorsports, Pocono Raceway Pre-Race Quotes: Patrick Sheltra, driver of the No. 60 Recycling Services-Ferguson Pipe Toyota Camry

On Toledo Speedway: “Fortunately, we had a much better outing at Toledo Speedway two weeks ago then we did last year. We struggled with the handling of our Dodge Charger throughout the weekend but fierce determination by the Sheltra Motorsports team allowed us to win the war and we are able to score another top-10 finish.”

On Pocono Raceway: “Oh, man. Pocono here we come. Pocono Raceway is such a unique race track and I truly learn something new every time I race there. We had a strong third place run there last June and I know that we are capable of duplicating that or even posting our first win of the season on Saturday afternoon.”

On Michigan International Speedway Test: “I was extremely satisfied with the Michigan International Speedway test. Jon (Wolfe, crew chief) was able to give me a great handling car from the moment we unloaded and I think we showed the competition that we’re going to be a threat next weekend. I’m really looking forward to the next two weeks.”

On Your Memorial Day Commentary: “I was just speaking from the heart. We received a lot of feedback from the fans and other active and honorably discharged members of the Armed Forces. We’re focused on saluting the troops better than we have before for the rest of the 2010 season. We’re opening ideas to the public and hopefully we’ll come up with a way to recognize the troops every day and not just on Holidays.”

On Points: “We really dug into the point’s leaders over the past two races and with Justin (Marks) misfortune at Toledo, we were able to sneak past him and grab the lead. Obviously, we don’t want to return it back to anyone but it’s still really early in the season and a lot can happen. We’re just going to keep doing what we’ve been doing and hopefully we can stretch our lead. One way or another, I have a feeling that the championship is going to come down to the last race of the year.”

Sheltra Motorsports, Pocono Raceway Pre-Race Quotes: Jon Wolfe, crew chief of the No. 60 Recycling Services-Ferguson Pipe Toyota Camry

On Pocono Raceway: “I truly feel really good about Pocono, Patrick and I both love this racetrack. The part that concerns me is we are taking Sheltra Motorsports chassis No. 13 which we have switched from a Dodge to a Toyota and have not had time to test it or shakedown. On the plus die, we have a great group of dedicated guys that will strive to make sure it is prepared right.”

On Describing Pocono Raceway: “Pocono is like a real fast road course without any right hand turns. The corners are so different. You can be great in turn one and terrible in turn three. To me the big key is getting your car to have good exit speed, the straightaway is so long that you really need that momentum off the corner.”

On The Key To Winning At Pocono: “I think the key to winning at Pocono is several different things, mostly because the track is so challenging. First your driver must like the track. Second, you must have a well balanced car that handles well in the three different corners. Third, lots of horsepower, a massive straightaway means big horsepower. Oh, did I mention fuel mileage? That always comes into the picture.”

On The First Six Races Of The 2010 Season: “From where this team has come from since January. I am very proud of our progress. Most people do not realize just how bad in shape this team was when we moved it to Mooresville (North Carolina). It mostly consisted of a speedway car and a bunch of wrecked and worn out cars and parts. Although we have not notched a win yet, I know it is right around the corner. This group of guys are just awesome and bust their butts every day to make sure that we are a threat each week.”

On His Relationship With Driver Patrick Sheltra: “Patrick and I have made a great relationship; I think it is a mutual respect and admiration thing. I admire his ability behind the wheel and I think he admires my ability to keep this team running smoothly. We have become good friends away from the track also, which helps us bond and understand each other. I believe that one thing that Patrick was in need of was someone to help him dissect the cars and understand the mechanics. Which in turns helps me understand his feedback and be able to adjust the cars for better performance.”

Sheltra Motorsports, Pocono Raceway Pre-Race Quotes: Grace Sheltra, owner of the No. 60 Recycling Services-Ferguson Pipe Toyota Camry

On Toledo Speedway: “Toledo was no easy task. However, I never lost the faith in the Sheltra Motorsports team or Patrick because I knew they would pull through. Despite the hiccups we faced, I believed we learned a lot and when we come back in September, we’ll be a lot better and hope for another short track win!”

On Pocono Raceway: “Pocono is a track that is completely different than any other track we race on but Patrick loves it. It’s incredibly fast with tight corners and a super long straightaway. It’s a place that keeps you on the edge of your seat whether you are sitting in the stands or enjoying the race from home. Nonetheless, we’re confident in the ability of our team and feel we have a shot at scoring our first win of the year on Saturday!”

On Being First In The Point Standings: “A lot of hard work has enabled Sheltra Motorsports to be where we are at right now. We’re going to keep digging and hope we can strengthen our lead as the season strolls on. It’s a little different for us this time around because we hold the title exclusively. We could not be where we are today with the help and support of so many people. We’re going to try and not let them down.”
