Peck Motorsports

GLENVILLE, PENN. (February 1, 2012) – Peck Motorsports is proud to announce they are leading the race to “Go Green” in the NASCAR Campig World Truck Series. Peck Motorsports driver, Todd Peck, will be entering his second season in the series in 2012. Peck, who races the #96 Kids Get Arthritis Too truck believes it is “important to make sure our team does it’s part to protect the environment.”

The Peck Motorsports team, with help from Renewable Engineered Systems and Keystone Biofuels, has begun the transition to a greener team by making changes to the team’s hauler by switching to LED lighting and bio-diesel fuel. The team will also be one of the first teams in NASCAR to utilize solar-powered generators to power their equipment during the races.

“Peck Motorsport’s decision to use solar powered generators this season is a great example of the type of technology we hope to see used by teams in the coming seasons,” said Dr. Mike Lynch, managing director of green innovation, NASCAR. He goes on to explain, “NASCAR is working to bring new and impressive technology that compounds to cut down energy in a cutting-edge way.”

Switching to a 5% bio-diesel fuel blend in the hauler allows the team to reduce major greenhouse gas components in the atmosphere. Ben Wootton, President of Keystone Biofuels explains, “By using the 5% blend in the hauler during one race trip to Florida (450 gal), Peck will reduce particulate matter by .25 lbs, hydrocarbons by .35 lbs, carbon monoxide by 1.75 lbs, sulphur dioxide by .15 lbs, and carbon dioxide by 362.49 lbs.”

According to Keith Wolfe, Peck Motorsports Crew Chief, “Even small changes can make a big difference. Since we race on a national stage, we want to set a good example. Going green is a continued example of us being socially and environmentally responsible.”

Peck Motorsports will showcase the changes at the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts in Harrisburg, PA on Saturday, February 11. Fans and visitors will have the chance to meet Todd Peck, see the #96 Arthritis truck and walk through the “green” hauler.

Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts, located at 222 Market Street in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is the mid-state’s premier center for arts, education, entertainment and cultural enrichment.

(January 2, 2012) – Turner Motorsports, along with Great Clips, Inc., is proud to announce that Kasey Kahne will increase his time behind the wheel of the No. 38 Great Clips Chevrolet in 2012 to compete in 15 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) events. Up and coming driver, Brad Sweet, who has competed on a limited basis in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) for the last two years and in the USAC Sprint Car Series and World of Outlaws Series for Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) for the last four seasons, will make a run for the Rookie of the Year title and will round out the balance of the 33-race NNS schedule when Kahne is not behind the wheel.

Kahne began his NNS career wheeling the No. 38 car with Great Clips, Inc. serving as sponsor. Together, Kahne and the world’s largest salon brand reached momentous milestones including capturing Kahne’s first NNS victory in 2003 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It was also Great Clips’ first win as primary sponsor. In 2005, Kahne captured his second career win at Texas Motor Speedway before stepping out of the ride as he progressed to the Sprint Cup Series ranks. In 2010, Kahne decided to return to the NNS on a limited basis and found himself back at the helm of the No. 38 machine, sporting the banner of his longtime sponsor. During both the 2010 and 2011 NNS seasons, Kahne piloted the car for eight races, racking up four top-five and six top-10 finishes.

Following in the footsteps of Kahne, Sweet made a name for himself in the national open-wheel racing circuits. After being tapped to drive for KKR in 2008 by Kahne himself, Sweet became a superstar in his own right in the USAC racing world with victories including the Belleville Midget Nationals, the Knoxville Midget Nationals and both the Sprint Car and Midget “Four Crown Nationals” at Eldora Speedway. Showing no signs of slowing his success, Sweet will embark upon a new adventure as he makes his debut in the NNS in 2012 with Turner Motorsports. No stranger to the Great Clips Racing family, Sweet has made 18 NCWTS starts as well as one NNS start (2010) sporting the Great Clips banner over the last three seasons.

Kahne has thoroughly enjoyed reuniting with his longtime sponsor and is looking forward to another season representing the Minneapolis-based company.

“I have had such a long-standing relationship with Great Clips and it’s been great teaming back up with them again,” says Kahne. “They gave me my first real shot in this sport and that is something I have never forgotten.”

For his part, Sweet is ready to jump into this next phase of his career and is grateful for the support of Great Clips, Turner Motorsports and Kahne.

“I can’t begin to say how excited and grateful I am for this opportunity to compete in the Nationwide Series and to join Kasey in representing Great Clips both on and off the track,” says Sweet. “Turner Motorsports is a first class organization with equipment capable of contending for wins week in and week out. I don’t think I could be in a better position to take the next step in my racing career.”

Great Clips, Inc. is currently the longest-running sponsor in the NNS and has used the Nationwide Series as their primary marketing platform for the last 11 years. Their sponsorship began in 2000 with Akins Motorsports as they climbed on board to sponsor the team’s No. 38 entry with driver, Christian Elder. Mark Green piloted the No. 38 for one season before general manager, Doug Stringer, hired up-and-coming talent, Kasey Kahne, thereby solidifying Great Clips commitment to their NASCAR sponsorship.

About Turner Motorsports:

David Starr and the SS Green Light Racing team have worked to position themselves for success in 2011, but a few bad breaks through the 25-week season has left the team just short of their goals.

Despite the setbacks that have dropped Starr back to thirteenth in the 2011 NCWTS standings, the SS Green Light team has not given up and is ready to head to the season finale at the Homestead-Miami Speedway with the goal of finishing up front with the Zachry Toyota.

“It’s been a challenging year for sure; we’ve had a lot of bad luck especially the second half of the year,” said Starr. “We’ve had some good race trucks, some fast trucks but we have this monkey on our back and we just couldn’t shake it loose and get some good finishes at the end of the season.”

Zachry will return to the hood of the black and green No. 81 Toyota for the season finale and will be joined by the NCCER Build Your Future Campaign.

“While I’m disappointed with not being in the top-ten in the standings, I am very thankful for all of our partners who supported myself and this race team all year long,” David continued. “We’re really proud to have Zachry, NCCER Build Your Future Campaign, Allegro, Advocare, Akzo Nobel and ASI Limited support us and stand behind us through this season.”

David Starr - Photo Credit: John Harrelson / Getty Images for NASCAR

“This is a really good race team, the guys work very hard and they never give up. We had some bad luck, but it really has been a good year and we learned a lot. I think this team has gone through some growing pains but they improved and worked together all year long.”

David has nine NCWTS starts at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. He has two top-fives and six top-tens just missing another with an eleventh place run in the season ending race last year in the Zachry Toyota. He has with an average start of 19.7 and an impressive average finish of 8.7 at the mile and a half oval just south of Miami, FL.

“This week we have nothing to loose. There is no pressure on us, so we’re going to go out and try to win the race and if we can’t do that we’re going to try for second or third, a top-five. We’ll get the best finish we can in our Zachry Tundra. We need to finish strong and then take a little break, enjoy the holiday, recharge ourselves and prepare for 2012.”

The Ford 200 is the 270th consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team and the 290th career start for Starr in the Truck Series. David has four victories, 47 top-fives and 115 top-tens through his 14-year career including two top-fives and eight top-tens so far in 2011.

There are 42 trucks on the preliminary entry list for the Ford 200.

The Ford 200 is a one-day show for the NCWTS with practice Friday, November 18th from 10:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. and qualifying at 4:30 p.m. The green flag will fall on the season finale at 8:00 pm. It will be shown live on SPEED TV. It will also be broadcast live via radio worldwide on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and also Sirius XM NASCAR Radio. All times Eastern.

No. 17 Tire Kingdom / Service Central Toyota Tundra

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race 25 of 25

Homestead-Miami Speedway

TOP TOYOTA: Timothy Peters and the No. 17 Tire Kingdom/Service Central racing team have several standout achievements in 2011 including a pole win at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May, a win at Lucas Oil Raceway in July and currently they are fifth in the Truck Series point standings. If the No. 17 team can maintain or increase their position in the point standings this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway they will potentially be the ONLY Toyota to finish in the top-five in the championship standings in all three of NASCAR’s national touring series (Camping World Truck, Nationwide and Sprint Cup).

POINTS RUN: Peters is currently 21 points ahead of sixth position in the point standings, in this weekend’s race at Homestead-Miami Speedway Peters must finish 17th or better regardless of what the sixth place competitor does to hold onto the fifth position in the point standings. If Peters is able to accomplish this goal, he will record his highest points finish to date in his young Truck Series career.

FEELS LIKE THE FIRST TIME: If Peters can hold on and record a fifth-place or better finish in the 2011 Truck Series driver point standings it will mark Peters highest points finish to date. Since joining Red Horse Racing in 2009, Peters has consistently moved up the standings recording an eighth-place finish in 2009 and a sixth-place finish in 2010. This will be Peters first year on stage at the championship awards ceremony should he place in the top five.

CONSISTENT TO THE END: Since joining Red Horse Racing in 2009, Peters has completed every lap he has entered at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Peters earned his first and only top-five finish in 2009, completing the event in the fourth position and leading seven laps.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 17 team will unload chassis No. 093 this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Peters most recently piloted this truck to an 11th-place two weeks ago at Texas Motor Speedway. This chassis also competed at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in October where Peters drove to a third-place finish.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Two weeks ago at Texas Motor Speedway, Peters drove the No. 17 Toyota Tundra to an 11th-place finish. On the final green-white-checker restart Peters found himself in the fifth position as some of the leaders began to run out of fuel. Peters felt that he had something mechanically going wrong with his Tundra, but hoped that he could nurse the condition to the end of the 147-lap event. However, when the driver of the No. 17 took the green-flag he began to lose positions as the mechanical failure worsened and on the white-flag lap, it moved toward failure. Peters was able to hold on and finish the event in the 11th spot remaining fifth in the championship point standings heading into the final race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Timothy Peters

Timothy Peters Talks about Homestead-Miami Speedway:

What are the challenges of competing at Homestead-Miami Speedway? What does your truck need to do in order to contend for the win?

“I like Homestead. I think it is one of my best tracks. I really like the way the surface is worn out. The way the surface is it really puts it back in the driver’s hands. I think the winner is going to be the person who has the most neutral balanced truck. If you can keep a neutral balance longer than anyone else and keep up with the track changes over the course of the race, you will have a good shot at the win. To be successful at Homestead you really have to keep up with how the track changes, Homestead tends to get really loose, and it gets really cool at night when the quick way around is up close next to the fence.”

Summarize your season. What were the highlights?

“I would have to say that winning at Lucas Oil Raceway was definitely one of the highlights of our season, the way we ran at Nashville earning two top-five finishes and then finishing in the top-10 at Martinsville, my home track are the moments that stick out to me. We have had a solid season this year and I hope that we can finish on a high note this weekend at Homestead and take that momentum into the off season.”

The weekend of firsts for Joyce resulted in quick success as he cruised with his No. 33 Impala to a respectable sixth place finish in Saturday afternoon’s American 200.

Rain washed out practice and qualifying on Friday afternoon, so the teams were up early Saturday morning to complete both sessions before the scheduled start time of the 75-lap UARA main event. Crew chief Andy Loden and his driver quickly found during practice that the hard work and changes they made on the car before heading to the track had paid off, and only minor adjustments were needed before Joyce was content with the handling. The 19-year-old driver then laid down a lap during the time trials that placed him 12th on the starting grid.

“We spent a lot of time getting ready for the race at the shop and I think the biggest thing that helped Cory was that the car was prepared and close to where we needed it to be right when we unloaded at the track. It saved us a lot of time during practice so he was able to focus on just getting used to a bigger and faster track than what he was used to,” Loden said.

Slowly working his way up through the field from the start, Joyce carefully picked off cars one by one until the mandatory pit stop at lap 25. Though he avoided all trouble during each caution period of the day, he struggled to get quick restarts with the No. 33 LandAirSea machine. Losing a few spots each time, he was able to make up time quickly once going back to green flag racing with a fast racecar.

Cory Joyce

“We had our car handling pretty well throughout most of the race; I could run any line I really wanted to on the track which was helpful on the restarts,” Joyce commented.

While Joyce was running solidly in the top-five as the laps wound down and worked on catching the leaders, a late caution threw the team for a loop and setup the field with a green-white-checkered restart to the finish. Joyce unfortunately also discovered a new issue under the final caution in the form of a broken front shock mount. Forced to hang on in the final two laps, Joyce would lose one position and slide just outside the top five into sixth.
“It’s unfortunate we had the broken shock mount at the end because we had worked really hard all day to break into the top-five. We weren’t great on the restarts but the car didn’t fall off during the longer runs like everyone else’s did,” Joyce explained. “Racing at a bigger, more challenging track like Rockingham was a lot of fun and suits my driving style really well. I’m looking forward to a lot more like this in the future.”

“UARA is not an easy series; it’s hard and there’s a lot of competition. We’re all really happy Cory did so well in the race and were impressed with what he was able to do,” Loden concluded.

WORTH, TX. (November 5, 2011) — Cold winds blew on a clear Texas night as the next to last Truck Series race of 2011 went green. Timothy Peters and the No. 17 NTB/Service Central Toyota Tundra team started in the 15th position. Peters quickly made his way into the top 10, running as high as second, before late in the race the driver of the No. 17 felt the truck was beginning to experience mechanical issues. Trying to nurse the truck home to collect his 12th top-10 finish of 2011, a late-race caution forced a green-white-checkered finish where Peters’ mechanical issues caused him to fall from fifth on the final restart to take the checkered flag in the 11th position.

“We had a great race going until the final lap,” said Peters after climbing from the No. 17 NTB/Service Central Toyota Tundra. “I hate that caution that came out there at the end to set up the green-white-checkered finish. I knew something was a little off late in the race. It seems like we had some sort of mechanical issue, but we will have to take the truck back to the shop to figure out exactly what happened. Everybody did a great job today especially on pit road. The National Tire and Battery Service Central Toyota Tundra was great all night long – we just were not able to bring it home where it belonged there at the end. We have a week off and we will take this baby (the truck) back to the shop and get it ready to go to Homestead and Lord willing, get on the stage.”

Peters started the WinStar World Casino 350K from the 15th position, and by the first caution on lap 13, Peters had moved into the top 10 scored in the ninth position. The team decided to come to pit road for right-side tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment. Peters returned to the track in the 10th position for the restart on lap 20. The caution flew immediately when a truck experienced an engine failure on the restart. The team chose to stay out as they were just on pit road moments earlier. Peters continued to make forward progress moving past trucks one by one. The caution was displayed once again on lap 32. The team chose to come down pit road for fuel only and another chassis adjustment.

Peters restarted in the fifth position on lap 37. Getting a great restart, the driver of the No. 17 NTB/Service Central Toyota Tundra quickly moved past each of the leaders, settling into the second position. Peters maintained second until the caution was displayed for an accident in turn four on lap 55. Peters reported to the team that he was too loose in the corners on both ends. Crew chief Butch Hylton called for four tires, fuel and a wedge adjustment.

Timothy Peters

Many of the leaders were on a different pit strategy; some staying out, some taking two tires, some fuel only. After the round of pit stops, Peters returned to the track scored in the 10th position. As the green flag run ticked off laps, Peters continued to work his way back toward the front of the field taking over the sixth position on lap 76. Peters continued to run in the top 10 as the laps wound down, but his truck slowly began to lose the handle as the No. 17 machine had become too tight. The caution waved again on lap 97. The No. 17 team readied on pit wall for the final pit stop of the night. The team changed four tires, added fuel and made another chassis adjustment. Peters was scored in the eighth position for the restart on lap 103.

Maintaining his top-10 running position, Peters communicated to the team on lap 115 that the truck was really good and he felt that the longer the green-flag period lasted, the trucks in front of him would begin to fade. He felt confident his truck was better than many of his competitors and a few laps later, he began to prove it passing trucks one by one.

On lap 124, Peters radioed to the team that he felt like something was going wrong mechanically with the No. 17 truck. The team was powerless in the moment but knew that the driver of the No. 17 could hold on to a top-10 finish if the race went green until the end as he continued to maintain fast lap times. Scored in the eighth position, Peters did not want to see the caution when it waved on lap 141, sending the WinStar World Casino 350K into overtime. The race restarted on lap 146 with Peters scored in the fifth position, as some of the leaders had run out of fuel under caution. Peters took the restart and tried to hold on, but something broke mechanically as smoke billowed from underneath the No. 17 machine and he took the checkered flag in the 11th position. Peters maintains fifth spot in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series point standings, 58 markers behind the leader heading into the final race of the season at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The Truck Series returns to action in two weeks on Friday, November 18, 2011, at Homestead-Miami Speedway for the Ford 200 which can be viewed live on SPEED at 8:00 p.m., ET.

After qualifying sixth, overcoming early troubles, and leading the race for six laps, they did just that with a solid 10th place finish to their credit.

“The race definitely didn’t play out like we planned, but it ended up working out just fine. The truck got better as we went through the day on Thursday. We weren’t that high on the practice speed charts, but we qualified up there and it ran pretty good,” Lofton said. “It feels good to get another top-10 in Texas. I really like racing here.”

After taking the green flag from the sixth spot on Friday night, Lofton kept his No. 6 CollegeComplete.com Chevrolet Silverado within the top-10 before dropping down pit road to top off on fuel under a yellow flag on lap 15. As Lofton slowed to pull into his stall, he had trouble seeing his pit sign because of the track lights and slid his tires. Crew chief Dan Bormann then opted to swap out left side tires. One lap later, Lofton returned to pit road for fresh right sides.

At the time of the restart on lap 20, Lofton’s Chevrolet was scored in the 28th position.

Another caution flag waved on lap 34 and by that time, Lofton had already begun his climb back towards the front, as he showed in 17th.

Justin Lofton

Since he had already taken on new tires, Lofton stayed on track under the yellow while other lead lap trucks pit. The call boosted Lofton to the top of the board. At the restart, Lofton held his own with slightly older tires, pacing the field for six laps. Over the next 20 laps, he held strong in the fourth position.

A caution on lap 57 allowed the California native to make another trip down pit road. The team swapped out all four tires, added fuel, and adjusted the track bar. With other teams taking on just two tires, Lofton lined up from 13th for the restart on lap 63. Four laps later, he was back within the top-10.

With just under 50 laps remaining, Lofton made his final pit stop of the night. Citing a slightly tight condition, Lofton and Bormann decided on track bar and air pressure adjustments on the black, green, and white CollegeComplete.com entry. He took the restart from the 10th spot.

The race stayed green until lap 142, which set the field up for a race-extending green-white-checkered flag finish. Under the yellow, Lofton explained the handling of his truck, and how he had a handful with the drive off the corners lacking as the laps wound down.

Despite the challenge behind the wheel, Lofton muscled his way around the 1.5-mile Texas track for the final laps, holding on to 10th at the finish.

Lofton and the entire No. 6 CollegeComplete.com ESR team will observe a week off from NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition next week before heading to the Homestead-Miami Speedway for the season finale on November 18th.

No. 17 NTB / Service Central Toyota Tundra

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race 24 of 25

Texas Motor Speedway

BEST YET: As the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rolls to a halt, Timothy Peters and the No. 17 Toyota Tundra team are proud of what they have accomplished thus far. With one win, seven top-five and 11 top-10 finishes, the No. 17 team can be proud that statistically this has been the best year yet. Peters has earned more top-five finishes this season than in his two previous years at Red Horse Racing. He is also able to continue his streak of winning, earning wins in each of his three seasons at Red Horse Racing. Peters who currently sits fifth in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship standings has the ability to record his highest championship points finish to date if he remains fifth or moves up in the standings. Despite some challenges, the team has persevered and is on track to earn their career best finish to date in 2011.

DID YOU KNOW? Peters has completed over 1,000 green flag passes this season? As of last weekend at Martinsville Speedway, the driver of the No. 17 Toyota Tundra has made 1,004 passes under green-flag conditions.

CONSISTENT TO THE END: Since joining Red Horse Racing in 2009, Peters has completed every lap he has entered at Texas Motor Speedway. Peters earned his first and only top-10 finish in 2010, completing the event in the seventh position.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 17 team will unload chassis No. 093 this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. Peters most recently piloted this truck to a third-place at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in October.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Last week at Martinsville Speedway, Peters drove the No. 17 Toyota Tundra to an eighth-place finish. The run marked his sixth Truck Series top-10 finish at the paper-clipped shape track.

Timothy Peters

Timothy Peters Talks about Texas Motor Speedway:

What are your thoughts heading into this weekend in Texas?

“I’m really optimistic about our run this weekend in Texas. We really struggled here in the spring, but I was very encouraged by our run a few weeks ago in Las Vegas. Butch and the team have really worked hard on our 1.5-mile track set-up package. We are planning to run a similar set-up to what we had in Vegas. I am excited about the race and would really like to end the 2011 season with a trip to victory lane.”

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race 24 of 25 – Texas Motor Speedway

BIG INDO NO TEXAS (GOING BIG IN TEXAS): Nelson Piquet Jr. and the No. 8 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) team will make their way to the Southwest this week with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for the WinStar World Casino 350K. The Friday night race will mark the Brazilian native’s third Truck Series start at the 1.5-mile track, where he has earned one top-10 finish in his Truck Series career. During his last trip to the track Piquet Jr. spent most of the evening running near the front of the pack, before being shuffled out of the top 10 during a green-white-checkered finish, leaving the young driver with a 13th-place finish.

ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE LONE STAR STATE: KHI has made 23 starts in the Truck Series at Texas. Courtesy of Ron Hornaday, KHI has picked up three victories at the Fort Worth track (June 2011 and two wins in 2008). The company has also earned 10 top-five and 14 top-10 finishes, and has been credited with leading 518 laps on the quad-oval.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 8 team will unload chassis No. 051 this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. Piquet Jr. has utilized this chassis in competition six times thus far this season (Nashville Superspeedway in April, Texas Motor Speedway in June, Pocono Raceway in July, Chicagoland Speedway in September, Kentucky Speedway in October and Las Vegas Motor Speedway in October). During those six starts, the rookie driver has earned four top-five and four top-10 finishes.

MOST POPULAR DRIVER: Voting is still open for the NASCAR Truck Series Most Popular Driver. NASCAR fans can log ontowww.nascar.com to cast their vote for Piquet Jr. as the 2011 Truck Series Most Popular Driver. Voting is underway and will continue until November 17. Fans can vote once daily until the end of the contest.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Piquet Jr. and the No. 8 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) team headed to Virginia with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for the Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway last Saturday, October 29. The Brazilian native started 18th for the 200-lap event, and worked his way to as high as eighth before crossing the finish line 13th.

What are your thoughts on racing at Texas Motor Speedway?

“The race at Texas Motor Speedway should be a good one for the No. 8 team. I have done quite well at the intermediate-style tracks so far this season and I’m hoping that continues with this race. With the progress the team has made this season along with the knowledge I have gained, I think we have a good chance of earning a finish we will be quite happy with. I enjoy racing at Texas and I’m excited to see what kind of outcome we end the race with.”

- Virginia is for Lovers: The No. 24 team has a strong Virginia line-up for Saturday’s Kroger 200. Joe Denette, owner of the No. 24 entry is a Fredericksburg, VA native while driver, Elliott Sadler, is a resident of Emporia, VA and the truck is sponsored by the Virginia Lottery.

That’s a Stat: Sadler is one of only 22 drivers in NASCAR history to have recorded a win in all three of NASCAR’s elite divisions and is one of only 16 drivers in NASCAR history to have earned a pole award and win in all three of NASCAR’s elite divisions.

Previous Race Recap: Sadler made his NCWTS debut with Joe Denette Motorsports behind the wheel of the No. 24 entry at Bristol Motor Speedway in August. Sadler, who captured his second NCWTS pole and the first pole award for Joe Denette Motorsports, led 53 laps and showcased a sporty Chevrolet until contact with another competitor just past half-way derailed the team’s chances for victory, relegating the rookie team to a ninth-place finish.

Chassis History: The No. 24 team will unload chassis No. 05 from the Joe Denette Motorsports stables in this weekend’s Kroger 200.
Meet Elliott Sadler: Fans will have the opportunity to meet Sadler at the Virginia Lottery display on Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 9:40-10:10 a.m. ET.

Quoting Elliott Sadler:

“Martinsville is a tough race track where you have to really focus on being good under braking; getting your truck to turn in the center of the corner and having great forward bite up off the corners. I’ve been racing here a long time dating back to my days in a late model. I’m very thankful to Virginia Lottery and Joe Denette Motorsports for giving me this opportunity. It’s always great to race in the great state of Virginia.”

“We were very fast at Bristol. Hopefully we’ll be able to take some of that momentum into this weekend at Martinsville. The tracks are both very short but are very different. We’re going to put a lot of effort into qualifying this weekend because not only do we have to qualify in the field on time, we know track position is going to be very important during the race.”

“Hermie and I have enjoyed a great relationship with the Virginia Lottery for a long time. We’re going to go out and try and get them a win on Saturday.”

No. 17 NTB / Service Central Toyota Tundra

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race 22 of 25

Talladega Superspeedway

100 PERCENT: Timothy Peters has competed in two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. Peters has been able to complete 100 percent of the 193 laps he has entered at the 2.66-mile Superspeedway.

SUPERB AVERAGE: Peters has competed in six restrictor plate races in his young Truck Series career. Over the six races at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway Peters has an average finish of eighth. He has completed every lap he has run at both Speedways.

THE CLOSER: In the last 10 percent of the past two races at Talladega Superspeedway Peters has gained an average of five running positions before the checkered flag falls.

TOP FOUR: Peters has an average finish better than 10th at four tracks that are currently on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule. Two are each of the restrictor plate tracks that the Truck Series currently visits, Daytona International Speedway where he holds an average finish of 7.5 and this weekend’s venue at Talladega Superspeedway with an average finishing position of 9.0. The other two tracks are Pocono (Pa.) Raceway where Peters over two races has an average finish of 9.0 and Darlington (S.C.) Raceway where the 31-year-old Danville, Virginia resident holds an average finish of 4.0 at the track that has been dubbed “Too Tough to Tame.”

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 17 team will utilize chassis No.108 this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. Peters piloted this same truck to an 11th-place finish earlier this season at Daytona International Speedway.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Last week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Peters earned his career-best finish of third. The driver of the No. 17 led four laps and ran in the top-10 throughout the majority of the 146-lap event.

Timothy Peters

Timothy Peters Talks about Talladega Superspeedway:

What do you enjoy most about restrictor-plate racing? Why do you think you have been so successful at Daytona and Talladega?

“I like the intensity of racing at Talladega and Daytona. We have always had really good trucks at both of those locations. I can’t pinpoint exactly why we run so well, I just try to bide my time and make the right move at the right time. Sometimes it works out for you sometimes it doesn’t. These races are always fun and exciting; you just hope that you are there at the end to battle for the win.”

After last weekend’s race the point’s battle has become a five man race. Do you still think you have good odds?

“Anything is possible at this point. I don’t think anyone thought that the race last weekend would be such a turning point, but the race this weekend at Talladega is anyone’s game as is the race in Martinsville. I feel confident in this No. 17 team and I know we will have good equipment. What is meant to be will be and we hope that when this thing is all said and done we are holding the hardware in Miami.”

The team Starr was racing for was suffering financial difficulties and suspended operations just days before the NCWTS race scheduled at the Chicagoland Speedway.

A last minute deal was struck between Starr and SS Green Light Racing owners Ken Smith and Bobby Dotter and the long-time NCWTS team was able to ready an entry for Starr to keep his streak of starting every race since 2004 alive. Starr was paired with veteran crew chief Butch Miller for the Friday evening race at the mile and a half speedway located just south of the Windy City.

David made the most of the opportunity by finishing an impressive tenth driving one of the teams back-up trucks and continued to drive for the SS Green Light Racing team for the balance of the 2011 season finishing ninth in the drivers standings.

“It was a real shame we lost a tire at the end of the Atlanta race; it cost us a real good finish,” explained Starr. “Everybody on our SS Green Light Racing team is looking forward to Chicago are we’re excited to get back to the track and have a strong run.”

“Our goal is to finish in the top-ten in the point standings and we need a little luck to go our way and a couple of strong finishes over these next few races to get us there.”

In two previous NCWTS races at the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway, David’s average start is 14.5 and average finish is 16.0. He started twelfth and finished tenth last year in his debut with SS Green Light Racing.

“Chicago is a great racetrack; it’s a fast track. You need a real good handling truck to run up front. I’m real excited about the truck that my crew chief Jason Miller and engineer Matt Faulker have prepared for this week. All the guys on the team have worked real hard to have our Zachry / ASI Limited / NCCER Toyota ready.”

David Starr - Photo Credit: John Harrelson / Getty Images for NASCAR

“Chicago was the first race I drove last year for Ken and Bobby, I can’t thank them enough for the opportunity and the support they have given me. The last year has been good, but the future is even brighter. I see this team getting better every race, I’m real excited about the direction this team is heading.”

ASI Limited and the NCCER “Build your Future” campaign will provide associates sponsorship this week on the No. 81 Toyota.

The Fast Five 225 is the 263rd consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team and the 283rd career start for Starr in the Truck Series. David has four victories, 47 top-fives and 114 top-tens through his 14-year career including two top-fives and seven top-tens so far in 2011.

There are 36 trucks on the preliminary entry list for the Fast Five 225.

Practice for the Fast five 225 will be Friday September 16th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with qualifying at 2:40 p.m. and the green flag will fall on the Fast Five 225 at 7:00 pm. It will be shown live on SPEED TV. It will also be broadcast live via radio worldwide on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and also Sirius XM NASCAR Radio. All times Central.
