This past Saturday, ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards driver Brett Hudson was hoping to revive the city’s name in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 but an early race incident temporarily sidetracked his mission.

Hudson, a rookie at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway returned to the 2.5-mile superspeedway following a solid three-day test session in January. Loaded with just one superspeedway Dodge Charger and a veteran crew chief, Hudson was vying to prove that the “little dogs” can fight with the wolves.

After practicing solidly on Thursday and placing their No. 94 Hudson Performance Drivelines Dodge Charger 21st in qualifying on Friday afternoon, the Brett Hudson Motorsports (BHM) team was openly optimistic about the 80-lap season opener.

When the green flag was thrown on the 59th season for the ARCA Racing Series, Hudson quickly found a hole and fell into the comfort zone hovering solidly in the top-25.

Inching closer to the lead pack and with drafting help from the No. 63 of Milka Duno as Hudson entered turn three on lap four, the left-rear tire deflated immediately throwing the No. 94 Dodge Charger into a spin and hard into the outside retaining wall.

Hudson was able to limp his mangled automobile back to the garage where upon further diagnosis by the team led by crew chief John Hayden determined the damage was too massive forcing an early exit to the team’s “World Center of Racing” debut.

“I really had no warning,” said Hudson, who was credited with a 43rd place finish. “I really don’t know what to say. I know we had a good car, I was just settling in and preparing a plan and then the next thing I knew, I was around and into the wall.”

Hudson, who made his 22nd career ARCA start continued, “I know the finish was far from what we were looking for but I want to thank everyone on the BHM team for helping make this dream come true. John (Hayden), Jared (Bartlett), Gene (Patient) all these guys really busted their tail for me and I’ll never forget it.”

“I also cannot forget about the people who helped us get to Daytona. Hudson Performance Drivelines, Racing Engines Plus (REP), G&A Trucking, Gene Patient Fabrication (GPF) and Warricktubing.com all allowed us to make this deal a reality and I’m forever grateful to them.”

When asked if his BHM team will attempt to compete in the next ARCA event from Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, Hudson couldn’t give a firm answer.

“The car is pretty hurt, but we’ll get back home and take a look and see what we’re up against,” offered Hudson. “If we came out of Daytona without a scratch, I would say our chances would be better, but it’s still too soon to tell.”

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will take nearly an eight week pause before action resumes at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on Friday, April 15th, 2011 live on SPEED.

Miller Founder of BlackFlagBZF.com" width="180" height="249" />

Michael J. Miller Founder of BlackFlagBZF.com

Charlotte, NC, October 11, 2010 -– A lawsuit brought by embattled stock car driver Jeremy Mayfield against NASCAR in 2009 is raising some serious legal issues for the organization’s chief executive.

In a recent motion filed in federal court, Mayfield accused NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian Z. France, while under the influence of alcohol, of ordering race officials to take Mayfield out of competition in a 2006 race. In support of that motion, Mayfield attached sworn statements from France’s former in-laws, Vince and Sandy Garcia. The Garcias claim that during the 2006 “Allstate 400 at the Brickyard” in Indianapolis, France called NASCAR President Mike Helton and ordered him to “black-flag” Mayfield from his home in California, where France had been drinking that day and was under the influence.

Now, a third witness has surfaced with claims that support the Garcias’ story. “Any notion that Vince and Sandy Garcia have somehow concocted the ‘black-flag’ story simply to breathe new life into Jeremy Mayfield’s lawsuit is completely false,” said Michael J. Miller, a retired prominent business attorney and an acquaintance of the Garcias.

Miller claims that the Garcias first told him of France’s infamous 2006 phone call back in March 2008.

Miller also claims that Jeremy Mayfield did not learn of the reason he was taken out of that race until April 2010. “Jeremy has not been sitting on this information,” said Miller. According to Miller, Mayfield found out about France’s “black-flag” command just weeks before a federal judge in Charlotte dismissed Mayfield’s lawsuit in May 2010. Miller says that before Mayfield had time to amend his complaint to include the race-fixing claims against France, the dismissal ruling was issued. After months of legal wrangling, these allegations were finally asserted in Mayfield’s September 29, 2010 motion.

In addition to observing that France’s alleged conduct might have been illegal, Miller noted the irony of the whole affair, stating, “the very same NASCAR Substance Abuse Policy that’s being used to run Jeremy Mayfield out of the sport is what Brian France was allegedly violating during the 2006 ‘Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.’”

NASCAR’s official Rule Book lists eight individuals as “NASCAR Supervisory Officials” for all Events, one of whom is Brian Z. France. Miller noted that as the highest-ranking Supervisory Official, with the ability to phone in instructions to the race tower from wherever he may be, “Brian France is presumably ‘on the job’ every moment of every NASCAR Event, including the 2006 Indianapolis race.”

The NASCAR Substance Abuse Policy states that “[o]n the day of any NASCAR Event, a Competitor or Official who is participating in the Event is prohibited from consuming any alcohol prior to or during an Event or being under the influence of alcohol.”

“Clearly,” Miller said, “France would have been participating in that Event as an Official” by making such a call to Helton and issuing orders affecting the outcome of the race.

Miller has launched a website with an online petition calling for NASCAR’s removal of Brian France from his position as Chairman & CEO. The point of BlackFlagBZF.com’s petition, Miller said, is “to call attention to the alleged misconduct of NASCAR’s highest officials, and to call upon NASCAR’s stakeholders to take swift action to restore the legitimacy of the organization as a competitive enterprise.”

“At this point, Brian France has more than just a perception problem,” Miller said. “He’s facing serious claims of official misconduct and legal wrongdoing which, if proved, demand accountability.”

Miller noted that Brian France’s legal troubles don’t end with the race-fixing allegations. In an evidentiary hearing in federal court during the Mayfield lawsuit in February 2010, allegations under oath were made implicating France in a scheme to violate federal election campaign contribution laws. The facts behind those claims are set forth in detail by Miller at BlackFlagBZF.com.

Miller further stated that, “I’m hopeful that some of the stakeholders within NASCAR—specifically Jim France and Lesa Kennedy France—will take notice of just how much their family’s legacy is suffering at the hands of Brian France and Mike Helton.”

“It would be a real shame to see the sport of stock car racing go the way of professional wrestling, with the perception that the outcome of a competitive event is scripted or predetermined. I’m convinced that the efforts of BlackFlagBZF.com will help to prevent that from happening,” Miller said. “In my opinion, it’s Brian Z. France who now needs to be black-flagged—taken ‘out of the race’ by NASCAR.”

Under NASCAR’s official rules, the black flag is used by race officials to remove a driver from the track during a race.

Think about it. Here’s a guy who just went through an epic mid-life crisis. For all we know, the guy was framed by one of America’s largest corporations: NASCAR. He fought tooth-and-nail to win, but unfortunately came up short due to financial problems.

Simply put, NASCAR had a lot more money than Mayfield.

He had to sell his house, sell his team, sell almost everything he owns, and he’s still in debt.

We know Hmiel was guilty of doing drugs at least three times. We don’t know that Mayfield truly was guilty. But once NASCAR brought him down, the world kicked him time and time again. He’s taken beatings from the media. Beatings from the fans. Beating from the other NASCAR drivers.

Here’s a guy who is literally going up against the world. And for all we know, he may be innocent.

The odds of a Jeremy Mayfield comeback story are slim-to-none. He’s a middle-aged man with an irreparably damaged reputation.

But if somebody in the IRL were to give Jeremy Mayfield a chance, like the chance Shane Hmiel may be getting ready to receive, that would potentially put a once-tarnished, middle-aged man with no hope, in the starting field for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

Now wouldn’t that be a story.

LaJoie, a Norwalk native, hit the airwaves on Tuesday on Sirius NASCAR Radio to explain that he smoked some marijuana at a party following the Coca-Cola 600 on May 30 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. Later that week, when he applied for a NASCAR spotter’s license to work for Joe Gibbs Racing, his mandatory drug test came up positive for the giggle weed.

Surely though NASCAR can’t catch every crew member who’s hiding behind the grandstands visiting Aunt Mary.

What’s a driver to do? Well, figure it out themselves right?

Top-10 Ways To Know If Your Spotter Might Be A Stoner

10. Always talks about “the good old days, before Jeremy Mayfield ruined everything for everybody.”

9. Instead of saying “you’re clear” during events he just says “it’s all groovy man.”

8. Gets entirely too excited in the days leading up to any event in California.

7. Keeps telling everybody: “The gas can would make the coolest bong ever dude.”

6. Usually at some point in the day says he needs to go “get his fender rub on” before disappearing for 15 minutes.

NASCAR has suspended two crewmen for violating its substance abuse policy, including the former brother-in-law of Jeremy Mayfield.

William David Keith, a spotter for David Gilliland in the Sprint Cup Series, is one of the two crewmen and was suspended Tuesday. Keith is also a former winner in the ARCA Racing Series.

Keith gave a deposition in Mayfield’s legal battle with NASCAR, claiming he witnessed Mayfield using methamphetamines several times. Mayfield became the first driver last May to be suspended under NASCAR’s toughened drug policy.

Matthew Huffstetler was the other crewman suspended. He works for Daisy Ramirez Motorsports in the Camping World Truck series.

The interview airs on Outside the Lines on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 9 a.m. ET on ESPN.

NASCAR suspended Mayfield in May after he tested positive for methamphetamine. Mayfield vehemently denies the validity of the results, claiming the positive result was due to his use of Claritin-D and Adderall for allergies and ADHD, respectively. Five days after Mayfield’s suspension was lifted, however, he tested positive again, with methamphetamine levels usually only seen in chronic users. A handful of estranged friends and family say they have seen Mayfield use methamphetamine repeatedly, but he insists his relationships with them are strained and that they are lying.

Some quotes from Outside the Lines:

“I wish I could sit here and say ‘No, it’s not over,’ but realistically, I would have to have a sponsor, or own my own team, or find a ride, and all those are virtually impossible with the baggage that comes along with me now.” — Jeremy Mayfield, on whether his NASCAR career is over

“No, they could never be confused for methamphetamine in a confirmation.” — Dr. Anthony Butch, director of the UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory, which performs drug testing for U.S. Olympic athletes, the NFL and the NCAA, on whether a combination of Adderall and Claritin-D could cause a positive test for methamphetamine

“You use me as an example to let everybody know who may have already tested positive for marijuana, cocaine or whatever, that they haven’t got anybody for, and it puts the fear of God in everybody in the whole sport. I was a good example, a good pawn who wasn’t going to cost them any money at all. I was worth more to them as a failed drug test then I am as a driver, owner for my own team.” – Jeremy Mayfield

I do try to cover the most important happenins to everyone, includin’ myself, of course, but at times I’ve just got to discuss what is uppermost on my mind only. I just can’t be everythin’ to everyone all the time. Know what I mean? And at this point in time Mark Martin is pretty darned important to me.

I just love the fact that this here senior driver, active full time, then retired, then semi retired and now active full time again Cup driver sits, cute as can be, in the points lead just, scarey enough I can tell you that right now, 10 points ahead of darlin’ Jimmie Johnson and his “push all NASCAR limits” crew chief Chad Knaus. Mark may have been confused for awhile as to whether he wanted to drive, or not, but once he figured that out he has been just amazin’. Well that and he drives for Mr. Hendrick now. Anyway 10 points is just plain close, folks. Looked like there for awhile Jimmie would pass Markie up last Sunday, but, when all was said and done, handsome veteran Mark held on to the lead. I sure was gettin’ a bit on the heated up side there for a bit, and close as it was, Mark held on. Sure enough I was a yellin’ to beat the band, rootin’ for Mark and all, but, us veterans just have to stick together don’t ya know. I know you all are wonderin’ what I am a veteran of. It’s not like I have to answer that question, but, I will I guess. I am a veteran of the first, and every year since, The Annual Runnin’ Of The Ducks here in these parts. It’s a cultural thing here, ducks bein’ so important and all, but, that doesn’t mean I respect or like them in any way, shape or form. Let me tell you that right now. Anyway, that’s how come me to know how treacherous they are and why I took up valuable space in my last column, warnin’ sweet flippin’ Carl about hangin’ out with those nasty things. Let me go on the record to state they are pure nasty. Purely. Period. Oh I do like my own white duck good enough I guess, namely because the poor thing is old as the hills, but he no longer has a seat at my table, The last time, and I do mean last, was just a horrible nightmare. And if that wasn’t enough to cinch his outside forever status, he tripped me, on purpose I firmly believe, durin’ the last Runnin’ Of The Ducks. I went slidin’ through that duck yuck and it seemed like a lifetime before I reached hard, dry ground. I will never trust him again. EVER, but that is neither here nor there. Let’s see. Where was I? Oh yeah. The Chasers…Jimmie won the race and good for him. The rest of the Chasers line up like this:

3. Juan P Montoya -65
4. Kurt Busch – 75
5. Tony Srewart -106
6. Denny Hamlin -108
7. Ryan Newman -110
8. Jeff Gordon -122
9. Greg Biffle -138
10. Brian Vickers -151
11. Carl Edwards -153
12. Kasey kahne -189

I don’t have much more to say about these guys at this time other than they are on a mission of madness, as I said last week. And that is a good thing, actually. Their owners, and in this case for that good lookin’ Tony it would be himself, their sponsors and us died in the wool racefans, expect nothin’ less. We just have to hold on to our seats and wait to see how it all goes. And not that this will mean much to you all out there, but those crazy old fools who hang out at the barber shop think they know a thing or 2 about racin’ and use that as an excuse to get together each weekend. But, if you walk by there and the window is open, well, I think they all are just playin’ a lot of pull my finger, if ya know what I mean. That pretty much proves what I have said all along when I said they are all too full of hot air. It’s the same all year round, race season or no, but all of this is neither here nor there.

Anyway, next thing on my list and in my title is Jeremy Mayfield. That boy has been on my mind a lot lately. I have been wonderin’ about his war with the NASCAR powers that be. Then low and behold if I didn’t read the other day that those same powers that be got a hold of a Federal Judge and want that boy evaluated. It seems they want to know if he really has ADHD and a substance abuse problem. Well, truth be told folks, all those drivers have to have some sort of affliction or deficit if they chose to drive 200 mph with 42 other guys and like it. And we do too since we sit there week after week and watch. Seems to me the important thing here are the drugs…whether they are legal or not. Seems NASCAR has some legal papers from some folks who are sayin’ they have seen Jeremy do that several times since 1999. Well, that is important, no doubt, but, I have been known to stretch a tale or two and can signin’ a paper to any fact be proof positive? Maybe, but, maybe not. What if that was 10 years ago if he did do that? What if he used to do that and hasn’t in a long time? What if Jeremy did it with other NASCAR drivers or affiliated people? What happened to them? What if those accusin’ people have a chicken to pluck with that boy? And why have those upstandin’ accusin’ people waited until now to relay this here important information? Makes a person wonder. Know what I mean? That boy sure looks healthy and not like some of those big city criminal drug nasties you see on TV. Am I spittin’ in the wind here? One thing is for certain…whether that boy is guilty of all or even part of what they are sayin’ or whether he is as innocent as he was on the day he was born, he has lost and lost big! Even if they can prove this is all a bunch of chicken doodoo that boy is ruined. Am I wrong here? Flip side of that is NASCAR ABSOLUTELY has to protect their own and I agree with that. Perhaps it would be best to limit the informaation until it is becomes a proven fact. It’s all a cause to pause, isn’t it? I can’t see how anything good will arise from these ashes for Jeremy, but if these here allegations are proven wrong and I were Jeremy, I think it would take an act of Congress, an act of God and someone stoppin’ me with the whole US Army to whoa me up. But that’s just the mean ol’ granny in me talkin’, but bein’ honest.

Anyway, the last thing on my thinkin’ plate are those GoDaddy commercials. That female policewoman? Well if some policewoman comes up to me, gets in my face and starts takin’ off her clothes and flingin’ her hair around like that she will need another police officer to extract this granny’s hands from her around her neck and from her luxurious type hair, I can tell you that right now! That after I whip her behind and tell her a thing or 100. And as for Danica. Good Lord woman, what are you thinkin’? You want people to take you as a serious racer, right? Well after these commercials they may just think you are serious alright, a serious —- and you fill in the blanks, honey, and I don’t think they mean racer. Know what I mean? And that nasty woman in the court room rippin’ at her shirt and yellin’ “enhanced” or whatever she’s sayin’….well she is just awful. I think Danica needs to stay where she is and leave NASCAR alone. As for Go Daddly…just bring back those full size wall stickers of those strong, good lookin’ young men! Now those were nice and wholesome commercials. Know what I mean?

Well, that is it for now loyal readers and you other folks. My computer is gettin’ hot and so am I.

Here are a couple of important responses to my email. The others will have to wait a spell:
…Bernard just say no. And don’t be mean to your mother when you say it. She is 95 after all. Just be firm and then run andl ock yourself in the basement.

…And LolaMay for Heaven’s sake stop that winein’. Give him cold, freah applecider or better yet buttermilk instead. You know that old saying… The true test of a man is a true taste test for the man.” It’s true honey. And it works everytime!

Send your comments and remember to be patient. You know the deal…I’m a very busy woman.
