2014 NSCS Auto Club 400 First Practice Session Speeds

2014 NSCS Driver Jimmie Johnson - Photo Credit: Jonathan Ferrey/Getty Images The 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) defending champion, Jimmie Johnson, with a lap speed of 188.664 m.p.h., was the quickest Friday afternoon during the first NSCS Auto Club 400 practice session at Auto Club Speedway. Johnson's fellow Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Jeff Gordon, was second quickest with a lap speed of 188.511 m.p.h., and they were followed by Clint Bowyer (187.774 m.p.h.) who was third, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (187.740) fourth and Brad Keselowski (187.003) was fifth. Rounding out the top-ten quickest drivers in the session were Kevin Harvick (186.645 m.p.h.) who was sixth, Matt Kenseth (186.446) seventh, Kurt Busch (185.926) eighth, Brian Vickers (185.744) ninth and Tony Stewart (185.219) posting the tenth quickest lap speed.
