
Just 74 days remain between now and the Pro Cup opener at New Smyrna [Fla.] Speedway on March 19.
“The Pro Cup Series is proud to kickoff the 2011 season at a track that hosts some of the best short-track racing in the Southeast,” said USARacing Series Director, Jimmy Wilson.
Pro Cup veterans like Clay Rogers, Caleb Holman, Jeff Agnew and J.P. Morgan are slated to appear in the 250-lap event at the half-mile asphalt oval. Stephen Nasse is also expected to make an appearance at what is considered his home track on the Pro Cup Circuit.
Joining the Pro Cup series for the first time is the Tampa Bay Area Racing Association (TBARA) winged sprint cars. According to TBARA, it is , “the premier pavement series in the State (of Florida) offering the largest car counts, busiest schedule and thrilling races with winged sprint cars.”
“The addition of the high speed, open-wheel winged sprint cars on the high banks of New Smyrna Speedway will add to the excitement of the weekend for fans,” said Wilson. “We want to give everyone the most racing for their money.”
The sprint cars are sure to put on a show as they team up with the Pro Cup Series for their season opener. TBARA regulars such as Dave Steele, Troy DeCaire, Dude Teate and Bo Hartley are expected for the 30-lap shootout scheduled to run before the Pro Cup event.
