It depends on this clouds. I think someone will hit it and be really fast but I think it can be a top-10 spot and that is all we need. We had a good solid run, practiced well and a solid qualifying lap. We have to keep on moving.”

WERE YOU HOLDING BACK AT ALL WITH HOW CRAZY IT IS OUT THERE? “Yeah, it is definitely slower. It was pretty exciting out there. I saw David Gilliland, I was most impressed with him. He almost hit the fence, went all the way back and almost did it again. This is pretty neat. If it were like this tomorrow it would be a really fun race. I think it is going to cool off tomorrow and be a lock down high speed race track. Now it is up to the crew chiefs.”

Marcos Ambrose, No. 9 DeWalt Ford (Qualified 3rd) “It felt horrible, treacherous and nasty. I hope the sun comes out. I think we will start in the first half of the field. If you can beat the championship leader it is pretty cool. I tell you what though, I am really thankful for DeWalt, Stanley and Ford and everyone else that supports me. Our team is getting better and better each week. We have had a good couple of months and I am looking forward to 2012.”

AJ Allmendinger, No. 43 WIX Filters Ford (Qualified 2nd) “That was insane. The track is way different than what we had yesterday and the Wix Filters Ford was fast. Greg Irwin and everyone at RPM did a good job. Marcos put a good lap up and explained to us what the track was going to be like. I am not sure that will hold up, it wasn’t a great lap by any means but it will be a good starting spot at least.”

Travis Kvapil, No. 55 Aloft Hotels Ford (Qualified 37th) – “It is a whole different race track than yesterday. Even in practice yesterday at noon the track had a lot more grip. I guess it is just a little warmer and greasier obviously. That is the slowest lap we ran all weekend and I can’t believe it made the race because it was horrible and really slippery with the back end of the car. We squeaked it in so I am happy. We worked hard yesterday and had good speed.”

IF CONDITIONS MIRROR THIS TOMORROW, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? “The thing is I think it seems like the tire is really hard and the groove is really narrow, it is only like one and a half lanes. It is hard enough to get around in this heat by yourself slipping and sliding, let alone to try and run two or three cars wide through a one-and-a-half groove track. There are going to be a lot of wrecks tomorrow, I really think so unfortunately. It might spice up that championship battle.”

JJ Yeley, No. 38 Vampt Ford (Qualified 44th) “It was a slippery lap. There was too much Ford horsepower. I think we may have missed the boat. Yesterday as the evening went on it seemed like scuffs were the way to go but now the sun is out and the track is very slick. I am not so sure that we may have needed to be on stickers. The beauty of this weekend is the No. 38 Ford Fusion is locked in on speed and there was no need to put ourselves in jeopardy. We will work hard on getting a good lap and put ourselves in position for a good finish Sunday.”

David Gilliland, No. 34 Aloft Hotels Ford (Qualified 46th) “Our car was really good last night we felt like and it felt like there was no grip today at all. Something with our car didn’t like the sun at all. Hopefully it is sunny and not raining tomorrow and we get a race. We have some work to do but I think the guys will figure it out.”

AJ ALLMENDINGER PRESS CONFERENCE

CAN YOU TALK ABOUT YOUR LAP OUT THERE TODAY? “You kinda watch everybody out there to see how quick the race track is going to be and it was a lot different than yesterday. After being on a race track that had so much grip. I messed my first lap up and just tried to basically back my second lap down to get a clean lap in and see where that put me. I definitely knew there was a chance of it getting beat. I was surprised it held up as long as it did with the guys that were behind me. It is really cool to have Ford with the first three cars and I am excited about tomorrow. I think our car will be really quick. We were good in race trim and more than anything we have to see how the track plays out now.”

WERE YOU SURPRISED WITH THE DEGREE THE TRACK CHANGED AND WAS IT A MATTER OF GUESSING RIGHT ON THE SET UP? “It was definitely a huge surprise. Obviously the sun is out and it is warmer but for as much grip as the track had yesterday you would think maybe it would be a little slower. At night last night I think the quick time was like a 25.50 by Carl so to be almost a second slower was a huge surprise. I was in the hauler watching the first 10 or 15 cars run and you see Jimmie go sailing off and almost get in the wall. Every car seemed to get looser and looser. At that point you have what you have. We tightened it up from yesterday. Marcos put up a good lap and fed back what the track was like so I went in there with an expectation and my first lap was worse than even I expected. It was definitely a lot different than yesterday.”

MARCOS AMBROSE PRESS CONFERENCE

TALK ABOUT YOUR LAP OUT THERE. “It was pretty sketchy. I was pleased to get through it really. It was a lot slicker than yesterday with a brand new surface and tire I don’t think anyone knew what to expect. I was pleased with my lap. We used our scuffs. I think the front two used sticker tires out there. All things considered I think we took a conservative approach to it and it paid off.”

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FOR TOMORROW? “It depends what the weather does. We have some rain forecast and it might clean that rubber off and we have to start again, who knows? We have to really watch the weather. It seems there is a lot of grip here when the sun is down. It felt great yesterday afternoon. The track was fast and we were and today with the sun out it was a disaster. It was really slick. I don’t know what tomorrow is going to bring. If it is cloudy then you can expect fast speeds and happy drivers. If the sun is out like this then it could be a handful.”

MATT KENSETH POLE PRESS CONFERENCE

TALK ABOUT YOUR LAP OUT THERE TODAY. “It was good. We watched everyone else and obviously there were a lot of people low on grip and it looked like the track and cars were a lot looser than yesterday. Everyone had a different strategy. Jimmy (Fennig) had a strategy to go fast in the first practice to go out late. Even though we knew the temperature would be hotter he thought the track could be faster with more cars having run on it. A lot of people chose the opposite strategy and worked on race setup in the first practice and did their qualifying stuff in the second practice to go out early. He had a plan and made the right adjustments. He thought it would be looser today. I didn’t get all there was to get out of the car. It was just that good. They made all the right choices there.”

WHAT DO YOU ANTICIPATE TOMORROW? HAVE YOU SEEN A GROOVE COME IN? “You know, it has been kind of a moving target, at least for me it has. The first practice yesterday I thought the track was different than the last practice when it was almost dark. Conditions were different today being in the middle of the day and warmer. It is a moving target I think. It depends if it rains tonight and a lot of things. There is still basically one good groove and it has widened out center of one and two and off. You can run side by side there. The middle of three and four is getting wide but I don’t think you can run side by side all the way around at a competitive race. Hopefully after the Nationwide race when cars are forced to run out there with two-wide restarts and lap and traffic and things like that, hopefully it will come in.”

BASED ON WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN SO FAR, DO YOU THINK THERE WILL BE GUYS THAT HIT IT AND GUYS THAT MISS BASED ON THE TRACK CHANGING SO MUCH? “I am not really sure to be honest with you. I didn’t expect qualifying to be as all over the place as it was today. That surprised me a little bit how different the speeds were and everything. You always have that risk at a new track that a couple guys will hit it. The biggest keys to this race are going to be I think you start with qualifying and then after that it is pit stops and restart strategy. The tires don’t fall off at all. They don’t really drop off in speed at all. It is going to be who can figure out how to keep their car up front. Who can be in the bottom on restarts and get good restarts and take advantage of the restarts when someone is in a bad position. I think that is going to be a big deal. I caught cars yesterday. You get two or three car lengths behind them and you just can’t do anything more. Hopefully that will change if the track widens out.”

HOW MUCH OF A FAVOR DO YOU THINK YOU MIGHT HAVE DONE FOR CARL BUMPING HIM FROM THE OUTSIDE LANE TO THE INSIDE ON THE START? “I have no idea where Carl qualified. That was my plan. I thought man if we can sit on the pole, that will really help him. (laughter) I have enough problems to worry about. I can’t really worry about his. The bottom is probably going to be an advantage to get started but it is still 300 miles and I think at some point in the race every car is going to be in the top groove for a little bit.”

AS IT TURNED OUT, YOUR QUALIFYING RUN PUT TONY (STEWART) ON THE OUTSIDE AND CARL ON THE INSIDE. “Yeah, I planned that. I am that good.” (laughter)

IS THIS ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT MAKES YOU THINK MAYBE YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO SNEAK BACK INTO THIS THING? “I don’t know. It feels good to sit on the pole and qualify that good. We have won three poles and I think that is more than half of my career total I think. Jimmy and the guys have been giving me really fast cars and in a way that is encouraging but in a way, I hate to say is disappointing, but if you look at Martinsville and how I self-destructed there and Talladega with David breaking on the last restart. All that stuff happened and knowing our stuff is fast enough to be in the hunt but we aren’t in the hunt which I feel is my own fault. It is frustrating yet it is fun to have fast cars every week. Each week we have had a car capable of running top five and we haven’t done that ever since the Chase has been implemented, especially with this car. One lap is going to be different that 300 or whatever it is tomorrow. Hopefully we can keep it up tomorrow. They still have to have a problem. If they have a problem and we run in the top three then you can say we maybe have a chance. If neither of them have a problem and run like they have the last 10 weeks then we are out of it.”

I KNOW YOU HAVEN’T BEEN ON TWITTER MUCH THIS WEEK. KASEY KAHNE ASKED IF YOU ARE TAKING THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE TOMORROW. “Kasey tweeted me before Martinsville and we were going to try to hook up as drafting partners at Martinsville. I am going to surprise all you guys tomorrow. I will let you know on the one to go lap. I can’t let my strategy go til then.”

Statesville, N.C. (November 7, 2011) - Front Row Motorsports, J.J. Yeley, and Vampt Beverage Corp. will make a former U.S. Marine’s dream come true this Veterans Day when the No. 38 Vampt Ford Fusion hits Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway in a paint scheme designed by the disabled veteran.

Scott Bates of Muskogee, Okla., is the artist behind the patriotic paint scheme on the No. 38 Ford. The former Marine took up graphic design when multiple sclerosis left him confined to a wheelchair and unable to use his arms. A head-controlled mouse allows him to operate the program in which he creates his designs. A sensor atop his computer screen picks up his head movements, allowing him to choose colors, shapes, shades and strokes.

“God took away one of my abilities to show me a new way,” Bates said about learning graphic design. “I never would have taken the time to learn what I’ve learned if I hadn’t been sitting in this chair and had to retrain myself to do something to occupy my time. I couldn’t bear just sitting and watching TV or surfing the Internet. I wanted to do something.”

After years of designing racecar templates for video games, Bates finally got to see one of his designs on a real racecar when he did a paint scheme for an ARCA car. But that car wrecked in practice and never made it to race day.

The 48-year-old artist still had one wish: to see one of his designs on an actual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car. He told his story to motorsports writer Becca Gladden, who wrote about his dream. When malt beverage maker and Front Row sponsor Vampt read about Bates, they found it only fitting to help him realize his dream on Veterans Day weekend when the company was sponsoring Yeley’s No. 38 in Phoenix.

“When we heard about Scott, we knew we had to have him do our paint scheme,” said Ian Toews, Vampt founder and chairman. “And not only are we recognizing him for his military service, but the design itself is a patriotic one that pays tribute to all veterans. We will all be very proud to stand beside it on Sunday.”

Bates will attend the race as a special guest of Vampt and Front Row Motorsports to see, up close and in person, that his wish was finally granted.

“For Scott, I know it’s a dream come true,” said Yeley, who is a Phoenix native. “It was his wish to get a design on a Sprint Cup car, and to be able to have him do this at my hometown track, it’s really special. He’s going to come in with his family and it’s going to be a huge weekend.”

“Other than my son being born, this will be one of the biggest highlights of my life,” said Bates. “I don’t think I can describe how it will feel. My family is teasing me about when I get to Phoenix, am I going to be able to function without stretching out of my chair because I’ll be so excited. It’s just a dream come true.”

Bates is active on Twitter (@ernhrtfan) and looks forward to recapping his big weekend for his followers and also possibly gaining some new ones.

Statesville, N.C. (November 2, 2011) – NASCAR fans should prepare to “get Vampt” again. Vampt Beverage Corp. will return to the No. 38 Ford of Front Row Motorsports for the race weekend at Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway, November 11 to 13. Phoenix native J.J. Yeley will once again man the wheel of the Vampt Ford Fusion, which will make its second appearance in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this season.

The Vampt Ford Fusion nearly went to Victory Lane in its NASCAR debut at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway in September. All eyes were on Yeley in the Vampt machine as he led the race as it was red-flagged for rain about two-thirds through the scheduled 325 laps. If the rains had continued and the race had been called, Yeley and Vampt would have been credited with the win. The race was later restarted and the team went on to finish 25th after capturing the attention of millions of race fans over the course of the race weekend.

“We had a great race weekend with J.J. and Front Row at Atlanta,” said Ian Toews, Vampt founder and chairman. “We couldn’t have dreamed we’d get as much exposure as we did in our first venture into NASCAR. With Phoenix being another big market for us and also J.J.’s hometown, we’re excited to partner with the team again to show NASCAR fans what we’re all about.”

Vampt’s initial product offering includes two agave-infused, ready-to-drink malt beverages – Vampt SMOOTH TALKER™ and Vampt MIDNIGHT WARRIOR™ – available in select markets, including Phoenix. Both the nectarine SMOOTH TALKER™ and citrus MIDNIGHT WARRIOR™ flavors have 8-percent alcohol by volume, offering less sweetness and more alcohol content than other malt beverages.

“I can’t wait to have Vampt back on the No. 38 Ford Fusion at Phoenix,” Yeley said. “We had an amazing first run with them at Atlanta. The whole race weekend and everything we did with them was a huge success, so we’re glad to have them back. Phoenix is a great place to have them on board because it’s a big market for them and it’s also my hometown so that makes it even more special.”

Microsoft Makes Its Front Row Debut

One of the biggest names in technology will make its first appearance on a Front Row Motorsports car at the Phoenix race. Microsoft Office 365 will be an associate sponsor on Yeley’s No. 38 car. Look for the familiar logo on the C-post of his Ford Fusion.

“It’s great to have both Vampt and Microsoft on our No. 38 car for Phoenix,” said team owner Bob Jenkins. “We’re working hard as a team to bring new companies to the sport and showing them what we can do for them. We’re not surprised that, once they see what the partnership can do, they want to come back again.”

About Front Row Motorsports:

“It doesn’t mean much for tomorrow. I think we have the best average finish on restrictor plate races this year and probably one of the worst qualifying starts, if you average it I am sure we probably would. These races it doesn’t really matter where you start. We do a lot of stuff for our car, drivability wise, to make it drive better which makes you a better pusher which makes more people want to work with you. Right now, Travis’ car is really fast and has good speed and that is who we will be working with tomorrow. I am looking forward to it and feel like we can keep our string of good finishes on restrictor plate tracks going. I am excited to have World Hunger Relief on our car and hopefully we can do a good job for them.”

TONY STEWART SAID THAT YOU GUYS AREN’T GOING TO BE ABLE TO HOOK UP LIKE YOU HAVE IN THE PAST. “Yeah, we aren’t. It is such a tight points battle right now and we are going to try to help the Ford guys out all we can. We are going to go that route. Our teammate Travis made the race and in the past he has had to do stuff to ensure he made the race and had to go behind the wall sometimes and change the oil and stuff like that. This time he is not doing anything like that so we can make a plan to work together and stick together. We are One Ford. That is the goal for this weekend. I feel good about it. Tony was great to work with those last couple of races and you never know what will happen. If you get down to the end and he is out of a partner and something happens to Travis, we are 100-percent comfortable working together, with each other. You never know what can happen on into the race. As far as our initial plan, it is to work with Ford.”

SO WILL YOU HELP IF CARL OR SOMEONE LIKE THAT NEEDS IT. WILL YOU HELP THE CHASE GUYS? “Yeah. I worked with Carl at Daytona and we worked really well together. He was really comfortable with us working together. We have kinda built a rapport with those guys. So much can change throughout this race as you guys know. When it gets down to the end, we are going to leave our options open.”

SO YOU CAN HELP SOMEBODY IN THE COURSE OF A RACE. YOU AREN’T BANNED FROM WORKING WITH ANYONE? “No, we aren’t banned. When you lay out your initial plans you have to think of the big picture and Ford does a lot for us and we would really like to see a Ford win this championship.”

DID THAT DIRECTIVE COME FROM FORD RACING? “You know, obviously they would like to see that. We are here to help them just like they help us if we can.”

Matt Kenseth, No. 17 Jeremiah Weed Ford (Qualified 11th)
“It drove good. I hope it drives good going that slow. Qualifying is pretty uneventful here for the driver. It seemed like our speed was reasonable and that should probably get us 15th or so hopefully.”

David Ragan, No. 6 UPS My Choice Ford (Qualified 8th)
“Our UPS Ford has some speed. Drew and the guys, this is all about them on qualifying days at Daytona and Talladega. Our job is to try not to go out and make a mistake. Our car was fast and drives real nice. The engine shop has been doing a good job, it has good power. I think we have a fast car and it will be in the top-10 for sure and have a good starting spot for Sunday.”

FOR THIS RACE THERE IS A RESTRICTOR PLATE CHANGE AND THE VENT FOR COOLING. HOW HAS THAT AFFECTED YOUR RUN HERE? “Zero. No affect. We will be able to push all day long and run like we have all year at these restrictor plate tracks.”

YOU HAVE BEEN SO SUCCESSFUL AT THE RESTRICTOR PLATE RACES THIS YEAR. WHY SHOULDN’T I BET THE FARM ON YOU FOR SUNDAY? “Because there are 42 other cars and the B factors come into effect. Anything can happen but we will have as good a shot to win as anyone this weekend. I guarantee we will lead some laps and we are going to be fast. We are going to have some fun but crazy things do happen. Mechanical problems do bite you sometimes but we will be fine. We’ve got good race cars, good teammates, good engines and it is a lot of fun here being at Talladega.”

AJ Allmendinger, No. 43 Best Buy Ford (Qualified 24th)
“That was pretty much all skill by me right there. Actually no, we didn’t qualify very fast so that was all the car then. It was pretty stable. We got on the back straightaway there and there are a couple people partying pretty hard so that was pretty good. I was pretty impressed. I think they were left over from last night. I heard them last night as well. Other than that it was Talladega qualifying. The Best Buy Ford should start mid pack to start with and end up front. That’s the plan.”

WHAT’S THE MOST INTERESTING PART OF THIS TO YOU? “Yesterday it seemed like all the stuff they did to make us not be able to push as long still didn’t help. NASCAR will figure out how to do something but the teams are so smart now that they figure out a way to still make it better. I think it is honestly how long you can run in a tandem group and whether we will do that all race or all pack up for awhile and then get with our partners and try to race at the end. We will see.”

WOULD THERE EVER BE A SCENARIO WHERE A MANUFACTURER WOULD SAY YOU AREN’T ALLOWED TO PUSH ANOTHER MANUFACTURER? “I haven’t been told that yet. Maybe I will be told that after this now. Maybe they forgot to get to me. I could easily see that though. The biggest thing is that first off, I want to win the race for myself, Best Buy and Richard Petty Motorsports. Secondly we want to get one of these Fords to win the championship and Matt and Carl are right there for it. Anything we can do to help them is what is always going to be our focus.”

Marcos Ambrose, No. 9 Stanley Ford (Qualified 19th)
“Me and Todd Parrott have been through a lot together. I have a lot to thank him for. He has been a great crew chief for me and we get on well. We’ve had a really good month with three top-10s in row and that run will put us somewhere around 15th here. We are close to AJ, our teammate, so we should be able to find each other pretty quick on Sunday and get to the front.”

YOU HAVE ‘NO BRAKES’ WRITTEN ON YOUR HAND, WHAT’S THAT ABOUT? “That is just a cue for me when I jump in the car I always tend to test the brake pedal and here that will push the pads back. I didn’t want to be that guy that pumped the pedal and forget about it. It is just my mental cue before I put my gloves on to make sure I don’t touch the brake. This stuff here is unique. The car has all this stuff in it to make it run fast and produce drag.”

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST THOUGHT ABOUT THE WEEKEND’S RACE? WHAT IS STILL ON YOUR MIND? “I just want to get to the finish. It is one of these deals here where I have had trouble finishing lately being caught up in weird accidents. Our goal here is to be in contention coming to the checkered flag and hopefully put ourselves in good position.”

DO YOU SEE A SCENARIO WHERE YOU WOULD PUSH A CHEVY? “If it is Kevin Harvick then there is no chance. We are trying to help as best we can our Ford drivers win the championship. Carl and Matt Kenseth have had a great year so far and I don’t want to get in the way of the championship and don’t want to change the outcome, I don’t want to be in the way. I think pushing a Chase contender in a Chevrolet would probably not be the best thing for your career if you have blue blood, and that I certainly have.”

SO YOU PAIR UP BASED ON WHERE THEY ARE IN THE CHASE AND WHAT MANUFACTURER IS ON THE CAR? “In the end you want to have a dance partner already set. If you can’t find your teammate or person you want to work with then it will be a scramble and you have to do what you have to do to get your car as high as you can. I don’t think that if there are 43 cars out there that I will be looking for anyone but a Ford driver to get me to the line.”

Carl Edwards, No. 99 Subway Ford (Qualified 9th)
“You know, it is Anytober and we are promoting Subway. They will sell any regular foot long sub for five dollars. Here comes the other six inches of my foot long sub, the 16 of Greg Biffle. He is 17th? Okay, we will be probably eighth or ninth and Greg will start back there and that will make it easy for us to meet up and work together. I was just talking to Mark (Martin) and the driver can’t do much on these laps. You have to just not make a mistake and get through the gears correctly. Our car was pretty good and the great thing is that working with Greg I felt like we could pass anybody yesterday. This is going to be a fun race.”

Greg Biffle, No. 16 3M/O’Reilly’s Auto Parts Ford (Qualified 18th)
“It was a pretty uneventful lap, always is qualifying here at Talladega. We got a pretty good gust of wind down the backstretch and I could feel it slow the car down. The wind is starting to pick up a little bit and I think it hurt us a little bit. Carl and I, we have a marriage made in heaven and we are going to work together in the race. The 21 car was really fast in practice, so we will see if he can knock Mark off the pole. We will have to wait and see. We didn’t qualify quite where we wanted. I think we lost a tenth with that gust of wind and Carl’s car and my car really match up on speed pretty well.”

Trevor Bayne, No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford (Qualified 4th)
“I think that shows how much work the 21 guys put into these cars and they do a great job at the superspeedways and the work shows up here. It is all about speed and our car has it. I think it is a solid run for our Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford. Hopefully we can keep it up there all day. Qualifying doesn’t really matter once the green flag drops with all the drafting that is going on. You will move around from the back to the front and back again. We will hang out and see who we hook up with.”

Andy Lally, No. 71 TRG Motorsports Ford (Qualified 33rd)
“It means a whole lot to the manufacturers and we have a good strong motor here. This Ford is pulling real well. We are a small team and this is a real good effort by these guys. There is no wind tunnel time on this car. We are relying on the Roush Yates Ford power under that hood and some little tricks these guys learn along the way. They have been learning a lot and we have been working behind the scenes as hard as we can. I am proud of them. They have done a good job.” DO

YOU HAVE A PARTNER STRATEGY FOR TOMORROW? “I got to work with Terry Labonte at Daytona and had a blast. To get to work with a veteran like that, you just want to keep coming back and doing it some more. If he will have me I will certainly be willing to push him all day tomorrow. We have a couple other guys we are talking to in case things get shuffled around but Terry is good people and a champion and it would be very cool to get to do that with him again.”

Travis Kvapil, No. 38 Long John Silver’s Ford (Qualified 17th)
“It was a good run. It is hard to really do anything as a driver here. It is all on the team and Front Row Motorsports did a good job. This is a different car than we have had for speedway races. We wrecked our Daytona car earlier in the year and we brought this one here. I have to give a big thank you to Ford and Doug Yates for the great horsepower. The guys at the shop pay attention to all the details and so far, so good. Surely it won’t hold up for a pole but we are solidly in the show and that was objective number one for us.”

DO YOU HAVE A PARTNER FOR TOMORROW? “I think so. It all can go out the window but myself and David Gilliland are planning to work together and be there for each other all day long. We are looking for a good solid day tomorrow because that can go a long way for our fight to get back into the top-35. We want to keep chipping away at it. That is the plan.”

JJ Yeley, No. 55 Front Row Motorsports Ford (Qualified 28th)
“It was good. The most important thing is that we are locked in now. The biggest disappointment was that we were in full qualifying trim and had really good speed yesterday. We thought we would pick up a couple tenths today. The first lap wasn’t bad but we didn’t pick up those extra tenths on the second lap. I’m not exactly sure why but again at the end of the day the goal has been achieved and we are in the race.”

WHAT IS YOUR STRATEGY FOR TOMORROW? “I think you almost have to shoot from the hip. You can sit there and plan but as soon as the green flag drops there are 40 other guys out there to disturb your plan. It is tough because there are 43 cars starting this race so there will be one guy left out, as long as you aren’t that guy you will be okay.”

(September 27, 2011) - J.J. Yeley will climb into the No. 38 Ford for the third consecutive weekend for Front Row Motorsports, this week in partnership with the Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS). Yeley and the OHS partnered for the AAA 400 race weekend at Dover (Del.) International Speedway to promote the agency’s “Drive Sober, Arrive Alive” campaign.

The weekend includes the fulfillment of the “J.J. is my D.D.” contest, where contest winner Andy Anderson of Newark, Del., and a guest will have designated driver services provided by Yeley for a night on the town in Dover. The OHS ran an online contest where entrants submitted written comments on the importance of designated drivers. Anderson will also receive accommodations for the Dover race weekend on a Star Coach in the speedway infield.

Yeley has run four races in the No. 38 Ford since joining Front Row Motorsports in July, qualifying for each race on speed during time trials. Sunday’s race would be his 10th career start at the “Monster Mile.” His top finish is 24th (2008).

Comments from “Driver Sober, Arrive Alive” team driver J.J. Yeley on the Dover race and partnership with the Delaware Office of Highway Safety:

“It’s very cool to have the Delaware Office of Highway Safety on board with the ’38′ car going to Dover. ‘Drive Sober, Arrive Alive’ is a great campaign and it’s cool to bring it to the NASCAR audience by doing some things around the racetrack. It’s important to get the message out to everyone, and we’re glad we can help get it out to race fans. They obviously like to have a lot of fun when they come to the track, but it’s more important to make sure you have someone to get you there on time and alive instead of the alternative.

“We’ll be doing some cool things away from the track, too. I am going to be a ‘D.D.’ I will be providing designated driver services to our lucky contest winner on Friday night. We’ll be driving people around having fun and helping to promote the safe-driving message.

“We’ve had some good runs in the ’38′ car. We’ve definitely been making more progress the more we’ve worked together. We had a really fast car in Chicago and we ran with the lead pack most of the day in Loudon, too. I’m excited to get back in there for the third consecutive week and see if we can keep improving.”

(September 13, 2011) - J.J. Yeley will get the call to drive the No. 38 Long John Silver’s Ford once again, this time at the 1.5-mile tri-oval of Chicagoland Speedway. The Geico 400 race weekend will be Yeley’s third time piloting the No. 38 Ford Fusion since joining Front Row Motorsports in July. He has two top-25 finishes with that crew so far this season, finishing 23rd at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and 25th at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway.

The No. 38 team is 40 points outside the top 35 in owner points and wants to eliminate that gap before season’s end to guarantee a starting position for the beginning of the 2012 season.

Yeley has three previous Sprint Cup starts at the Joliet, Ill., track. His best career finish is 10th (2006).

Comments from Long John Silver’s Ford team driver J.J. Yeley heading to Chicago:

“Chicago is actually one of my favorite racetracks we get to go to. I enjoy the mile-and-a-half racetracks and, to me, Chicago is one of the ones that doesn’t have the banking that some of the higher-speed mile-and-a-half racetracks have. It makes handling a little trickier and usually there’s two- and three-wide racing, so to me it’s exciting. Between Chicago and old Las Vegas, I’d say those are my favorites. So, to get to go back and run another race in the No. 38 there, it has me very excited.

“I’ve run two races now in the ’38′ and we’ve had good runs. We led some laps in Atlanta and we were very competitive in New Hampshire, and obviously those are two completely different types of racetracks. So, it’s good to get to run the car now in Chicago. Every time I’ve run the car, I feel more comfortable with crew chief Jay Guy and the entire crew. And I’m sure the more time we spend together the better we can make the car fit my driving style.

“That’s the biggest unknown in working with a new crew chief, just trying to find that niche between myself and Jay. Going into our third race together, I think he’s got a better understanding of how I need the car to be, as far as the freeness of the car, which is going to help give us a better base set-up. And the better the car can be once we unload for the weekend, the more we can fine-tune and have a better racecar for Sunday’s race.

“Of course, we have to qualify for the race on speed, which is tough on the nerves. I think it’s the most nerve-wracking situation to be in as a racecar driver, knowing that you have to put together the perfect lap. You really can’t afford to have a set-up too far off because usually it’s less than hundredths of a second between making the race and possibly missing the race. But we’ve been strong every week, so I’m confident will be racing on Sunday.”

(August 30, 2011) - Front Row Motorsports’ No. 38 Ford will have a different look at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway this weekend, hitting the track with a new sponsor and a different driver. Front Row driver J.J. Yeley will take the wheel of the No. 38 Vampt Ford for Sunday’s AdvoCare 500, introducing the NASCAR audience to Vampt malt beverages.

Vampt Beverage Corp.’s initial product offering includes two agave-infused, ready-to-drink malt beverages – Vampt SMOOTH TALKER™ and Vampt MIDNIGHT WARRIOR™ – available in select markets, including Atlanta this fall. Both the nectarine SMOOTH TALKER™ and citrus MIDNIGHT WARRIOR™ flavors have 8-percent alcohol by volume, offering less sweetness and more alcohol content than other malt beverages.

The one-race deal has Yeley swapping rides with teammate Travis Kvapil, who will drive the No. 55 Front Row Motorsports Ford for the weekend. Yeley has seven Sprint Cup Series career starts at the 1.54-mile oval in Hampton, Ga. His best finish at the track is 15th (2006).

Comments from Vampt Ford team driver J.J. Yeley heading to Atlanta:

“It’s awesome to have a new sponsor, who’s also new to the sport and so excited to get involved, going to Atlanta, which is one of the fastest racetracks we go to. It being a night race just adds to the excitement. So, for us to go to a racetrack that I really enjoy racing at with full sponsorship from Vampt on board our Ford Fusion, I just know that they’re going to love it.

“We hope to keep the intensity going with Vampt and Front Row Motorsports so we can build on the relationship that we’ve started with this first race. We’d love to get them on board to make this a weekly process, where we can go to the racetrack with them and help market their product. The fans of our sport are very loyal to the brands that they see out on the track every weekend. I’ve already seen a note from a fan who said he was going out to buy Vampt, and the car hasn’t even hit the track yet.

“Atlanta has as much banking as any of the mile-and-a-half’s that we go to. It has a lot of character because the racetrack is fairly rough – it’s been years since the track has been paved. So, it’s a track that is very heat-sensitive. Because it is a night race, the lap times drastically improve from what we see in practice during the day. It’s one of those racetracks where, if your car’s not handling on the bottom, you can change grooves and run the middle or run the top. There are a lot of different variations. It’s amazing how Turns 1 and 2 are so different from Turns 3 and 4, from the shape and the banking to the entire line of how you run it.

“Atlanta is one of those racetracks that is fun because, as a driver, you can usually find a groove that helps your car if it’s ill-handling. Like I said, it’s one of the fastest intermediate tracks we go to. And it always produces some white-knuckle moments through the corners or when you’re racing somebody.”

(August 23, 2011) - Fans of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will be introduced to the Vampt Beverage Corp. brand and its “GET VAMPT” call-to-action on Labor Day weekend when J.J. Yeley drives Front Row Motorsports’ No. 38 Ford at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Vampt will be the primary sponsor of Yeley and the No. 38 Vampt Ford Fusion for the AdvoCare 500 race weekend September 2 through 4, 2011.

The deal, which was brokered by Genuine Partners, marks Vampt Beverage Corp.’s first foray into NASCAR sponsorship. Vampt’s initial product offering includes two agave-infused, ready-to-drink malt beverages – Vampt SMOOTH TALKER™ and Vampt MIDNIGHT WARRIOR™ – available in select markets, including Atlanta this fall. Both the nectarine SMOOTH TALKER™ and citrus MIDNIGHT WARRIOR™ flavors have 8-percent alcohol by volume, offering less sweetness and more alcohol content than other malt beverages.

“The Vampt drinking experience easily connects to the NASCAR fan and culture,” said Ian Toews, Vampt Founder and Chairman. “We have no doubt that this is the beginning of a great relationship with Front Row Motorsports and J.J. Yeley.”

Yeley has seven Sprint Cup career starts at the 1.54-mile oval in Hampton, Ga., with a career-high finish of 15th (2006).

“It’ll be great to have the Vampt brand on the No. 38 Ford Fusion at Atlanta,” Yeley said. “They’re a cool new company with a refreshing, ultra-premium product. We’re looking forward to introducing it to NASCAR fans. Atlanta Motor Speedway is a great place for their debut. It’s fast and intense and a great place to race. It’s one of the big holiday-weekend races that will have a huge viewing audience, so it will be great initial national exposure for them.”

For Front Row Motorsports, the sponsorship moves Yeley into the No. 38 Ford for the one-race deal.

“We’re always willing to help new companies get into the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series,” said team owner Bob Jenkins. “We’re still a young team, still building, and new partnerships are important to us. Vampt and Genuine Partners have been great to work with thus far and it would be great if J.J. can give them a strong debut run in Atlanta. We look forward to growing our relationship with Ian Toews and everyone at Vampt.”

Vampt beverages currently are being sold in Arizona, Idaho, Oregon, Washington State, New Mexico and Montana through grocery outlets and independent liquor stores. Availability in Georgia and Colorado is coming this fall. Vampt Beverage Corp. plans to feature a variety of behind-the-scenes race activity and video on its media content-rich site www.Vampt.com prior to, during and after the race.

I tell you what. This team has needed it. We have great cars and I can’t say enough for Matt Puccia and this 16 team. They work really hard and I am proud of them. All of a sudden Matt (Kenseth) is becoming a hell of a qualifier. He makes fun of himself when he gets up there and says that the throttle sticks. What a great job for the whole Ford camp. I want to thank Ford for all of their support and I know this means a lot to them here in Michigan to have this thing on the front. We have Pure Michigan on the car this weekend and we are missing 3M but we are going to have dinner with them in Montreal here in a little bit. I am just so proud of my guys because they have been working so hard. Matt Puccia is a great crew chief and he is really focused on these cars. I can’t wait for Sunday.”

MATT KENSETH, No. 17 Kroger Ford Fusion (Qualified 2nd) – “I think that I would have had a shot at the pole if I wouldn’t have looked up at the big screen down there and watched Greg’s lap. I saw his lap time and saw that it was really fast. I got loose here in the green and overdrove turn one to make sure I kept the car tight enough and overdrove it a little bit. I was pretty far over my head. I was glad to get a lap that good that had a ton of speed. I want to thank Kroger for sponsoring our car, I am pretty excited about that. It has flames on it so DW should be happy. All Roush front row, so it was a good lap for us and I look forward to Sunday.”

CARL EDWARDS, No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion (Qualified 22nd) “We were a little bit loose, just a little bit. We leaned on Matt Kenseth quite a bit and that helped us a ton. We picked up a lot of time. I really appreciate his help there. We have to be able to put the throttle down come Sunday and not be so loose. The good part about this race track is that if we are fast we will be able to pass people and we will be good. I am excited about it. I love racing here. Even if we start 30th it is okay because you can still win here if you are fast.”

TREVOR BAYNE, No. 21 JDRF Motorcraft/Quicklane Ford Fusion (Qualified 20th) “That was a pretty good qualifying run. I think we will sit pretty good and it could be a good weekend for us. I am so excited to be driving this race car designed by seven-year-old Katie. She designed it herself and we got to make her dreams come true by putting it on the real race car and bringing it out to the race. It is an awesome weekend for us. I think we will have something come Sunday. It was better for qualifying this time than last time and I think we can learn for the race trim with that. Our race trim is totally different but we will wait and see about practice tomorrow. I think our car is really fast and it ran good at Charlotte with Stenhouse driving it, so I think it will run good here.”

MARCOS AMBROSE, No. 9 Stanley Ford Fusion (Qualified 16th) “I did the same thing here in the spring. I got loose getting up to speed coming to the green flag and I just spooked myself and pinched it off into three and I did the same bloody thing this time. I am mad at myself. We had another half a tenth or so in the car. I will take that because it will be a decent spot.”

DAVID RAGAN, No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion (Qualified 7th) “I would give myself probably an A- on that lap. It could have been a little better. It looks like we will wind up in the top five or six. We have a good car here and it is good to see our Roush teammates fast. I can’t wait for the race on Sunday.”

JJ YELEY, No. 55 Front Row Motorsports Ford Fusion (Qualified 31st) “It was a good conservative lap. We can’t get what we want to get. A 90% lap is always a safe thing to do. My one and two I left a bunch on the table. We struggled with the car being tight and this is one of those places it is really easy to over drive. I made a nice conservative lap that was fast enough to make the race and hopefully we get in the position to be locked in and start going for some faster laps.”

TRAVIS KVAPIL, No. 38 Long John Silver’s Ford Fusion (Qualified 27th) “That was a good lap. I feel like this is one of our better tracks. This is the first time me and my crew chief get to go to a track for the second time together and we have a good notebook to look at coming here. We had really good speed right off the truck and I am pretty happy with it. The car was a little on the free side but that was the fastest we went all day and we got in the show really good. I am excited about working on race trim tomorrow and having a good race Sunday.”

ANDY LALLY, No. 71 Interstate Moving Ford Fusion (Qualified 38th) “We have been a little too tight in the middle getting on the splitter on both ends in practice. The guys made a good call and got it off the splitter, just off the splitter but I rolled some big speed into one and we were just a little too free. It was fine carrying the speed through the middle but I couldn’t get back to full power as soon as I wanted to. I could get some power and had to wait a little longer and I think that will make the difference in a few spots here. Power wise our Ford is ripping down these straightaways here. We are locked in the field this week and that is a huge weight off our shoulders.”

GREG BIFFLE/MATT KENSETH POST QUALIFYING PRESS CONFERENCE

GREG BIFFLE: “I tell you what, Matt Puccia and the guys did a great job with this race car. We weren’t sure what we were going to do, come here in qualifying trim or race trim or what. We decided on qualifying trim today. The car was really fast off the truck. We were wondering what we were going to do the rest of practice. The car drove good and we didn’t have a lot to work on. That was a good thing. I had to get out of the gas a little off of two and thought that might be my demise. Normally a driver can pick out one spot on the track where he gave up a little and that could cost you or could not. I got really good in three and four and was good in the flat.”

ARE WE GETTING TOO FAST HERE? “It is pretty fast but where we are right now, the one good thing about this race track and that is not to say that we don’t need to improve facilities and repave and move on, the good thing is that is only for one lap. The next lap is three tenths or two tenths slow, then another two tenths. Six laps in or so, we are running a second slower per lap. That is what makes this place so much fun and so fun to race at. It is the falloff. If it was that fast every lap for the whole tire run, then it would be pretty fast. That qualifying lap, ask any driver, we are holding our breath. That is a pretty fast lap, but speed slows down right away. Even the second lap you saw guys were three-tenths slower.”

YOU NEED SOMETHING TO HAPPEN IN THE NEXT FOUR WEEKS. IS THIS A GOOD FIRST STEP? “Yeah, it certainly is. It is a big moral boost for the team to come here and run as good as we did off the truck and get the pole. We have to have a win to get in the Chase, that is obvious. Here, Bristol and Atlanta are good tracks for us. I think this is probably our best and this may be our best opportunity. Here or Atlanta. This is a huge deal for us and huge momentum for us going into Sunday.”

WHERE ARE YOU AT WITH BORIS SAID? “I don’t like Boris either (laughter). We said our peace and that is it. Kudos to him, because he is telling his side of the story. He says I was upset because I qualified bad and was two laps down and was mad because I raced him too hard last year. That is all incorrect. He wrecked me last year, didn’t race me too hard. He can race me as hard as you want. Matt and I race hard together all the time. I hate the person who says, ‘oh, the guy is racing me too hard’. There is no such thing as racing to hard. For starters, we cleared that up. I don’t have a problem with racing too hard. I have a problem with wrecking people. Then he ran me off the track in the carousel. That is the only thing I was upset with Boris about. Our deal is over with. We had our differences on the race track, that one instance, I told him I wasn’t happy with it on the race track and then I didn’t go around him the rest of the day. We talked about that on the phone and it is over.”

NO DOUBT ROUSH HAS GREAT HORSEPOWER, BUT ARE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT FUEL MILEAGE FOR SUNDAY? “Considering I have run out of gas about every race this year (laughter). No, you know, these things always end up being, always seem like fuel mileage races. Last year we led the most laps here and got caught on the last stop of the day. Last week all of us ran out of gas. Definitely it is an issue and when you make a lot of power, it takes fuel to make the power. Our engines are good and make a lot of power. Our fuel mileage is getting better. It could be a fuel mileage race though, but all of them can be.”

NEXT YEAR YOU GO TO FUEL INJECTION, CAN YOU COMMENT ON THAT AND ON YOUR TESTING SCHEDULE? “I drove the fuel injection car in Kentucky at a test and I thought it drove real similar to our cars now. It drove much better through the garage area and down pit road. That low RPM the car responded better. I don’t know how it is going to start hot and if you run it out of gas, all those kinds of things. I do know they have done a tremendous amount of testing and somebody is maybe going to have a leg up on the competition between manufacturers when we roll it out next year. Some guys will maybe be better than others, but we will have to wait and see.”

YOU HAVE HAD A LOT OF GOOD QUALIFYING RUNS IN THE LAST THREE YEARS. ARE YOU SURPRISED IT HAS BEEN THAT LONG SINCE YOU HAVE BEEN ON A POLE? “Yeah, you know it takes the right combination and right qualifying draw which is now set by practice time and takes a perfect lap and weather, everything plays a factor. For me to get a pole all the stars have to line up and they did today. I just looked at it and Matt was almost a tenth better than me in three and four but it looked like he was scared to push the gas down. That is why I am up front.”

MATT KENSETH: “It was a good lap. We had a lot of speed and honestly I wish I wouldn’t have watched Greg’s lap and saw his lap time. If I hadn’t tried so hard I might have had a shot at it. That is pretty fast. I was loose coming to the green and drove into hard too hard on purpose to make sure my car stayed loaded up and tight enough and got in there a car length too hard. Other than that, it was a good lap for us. It had a lot of speed and since we got here, it is the same car we ran last time, which was real fast. Hopefully we can drive it a little better for Sunday and be up there again.”

NO DOUBTH ROUSH HAS GREAT HORSEPOWER, BUT ARE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT FUEL MILEAGE FOR SUNDAY? “I am not worried about it yet. You worry about it Sunday after if you can run, make up a number, 40 laps on fuel, and there is a caution with 44 to go, then you worry about it. Until then I won’t worry about it. Jimmy and I have talked about it a lot and we both agree that racing is about going as fast as we can go and we bring the fastest cars we know how to build to the race track and ask Doug for the most power that he can possibly build us. We are going to go out and race hard and hope we have a fast car that can compete on speed. Hopefully it plays out like a normal race and we can race it that way. If circumstances work out that way with fuel mileage then maybe we will get beat, but we are going to keep trying to go fast.”

YOUR CAR HAS A NEW SPONSOR THIS WEEKEND, IS THAT A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME? COULD THAT LEAD TO A BIGGER, LONGER TERM THING? “I am 100-percent honest when I say I have no idea. Crown sold off a certain amount of races for this year and this is one of the races they sold off. I think there are a couple more coming up but I can’t remember which. Crown sold off some races and this was one of them, so I am not sure how they are making out for next year to be honest with you. Jimmy and I have had our heads in set-up books to see how we can make a run here at the end of the year and hopefully secure a spot in the Chase and win a championship. That is all we have been thinking about.”

(July 18, 2011) - J.J. Yeley will join Front Row Motorsports for the remainder of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule, splitting time between the No. 55 Ford and the No. 38 Ford. The seven-year Sprint Cup veteran filled in for Travis Kvapil in the No. 38 Long John Silver’s Ford at New Hampshire Motor Speedway last weekend, finishing 23rd.

“J.J. is a great addition to our team,” said team owner Bob Jenkins. “He brings a lot of good experience and it showed right away in his first weekend in one of our cars. We’re still a relatively young team and trying to grow each year, and I think bringing J.J. aboard is a good step in that progress.”

Yeley had been driving for Whitney Motorsports for the first half of the 2011 season. He joins fellow veteran drivers Kvapil and David Gilliland as teammates at Front Row.

“When they said they were looking to add someone, I jumped at the opportunity,” said Yeley. “I’m really looking forward to working with the Ford horsepower under the hood – it’s phenomenal. And, as a team, we all worked well together. We had a good first week together, and we’re just going to keep building from there.”

Yeley will be in the No. 55 Ford for the series’ next race July 31 at Indianapolis (Ind.) Motor Speedway.

“We just lost a little bit of time, but overall I am pretty happy with our speed. The track got a little hotter and lost a little grip from practice. I am happy that our teammate Jeff Green made the race and JJ Yeley made the race so all three cars will be racing here on Sunday. That is a good feeling for Front Row Motorsports.”

JEFF GREEN, No. 55 Front Row Motorsports Ford Fusion
“I really didn’t know what to expect when I got here but these guys gave me a great race car. It has been awhile since I had to qualify one of these things. It is different than the Nationwide car, tons different, more than I ever remember. It is a good day for us. We made the race and there are several that can’t say that. I am looking forward to Sunday when I can race with these guys. They are the best in the world and anytime I can get out there with them makes me feel really proud of what I have done.”

JJ YELEY, No. 30 Long John Silver’s Ford Fusion
“It was just a little bit off. It was pretty good through all of practice and we did a lot of fine tuning adjustments. We were solid enough through all of practice that it was something we didn’t want to mess too much with. That was a nice conservative lap but just a little too tight to get down what I needed to, I lost a lot of time off turn four.”

MATT KENSETH, No. 17 Affliction Clothing Ford Fusion
“That will probably put us 25-30th, not too good. We have been way far off all day today for some reason. We are definitely working on it and we have the two practices to work on it tomorrow, so that is good.”

MARCOS AMBROSE, No. 9 DeWALT Ford Fusion
“I am hoping the sun will come back out. That was okay. We have been struggling and we are getting better every time we go out, so that is a good thing. I just want a decent spot for the race. If we can be in the front half of the field I will be happy. We haven’t done much yet in race trim, but I feel good that our team is committed to get the car better. It has been a little bit of a tough day so I am looking forward to having a sleep on it and coming back tomorrow fresh.”

CARL EDWARDS, No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion
“That was a pretty good lap. It is better than practice by a tenth-and-a-half. It is not the pole but I think it might be a top-10 starting spot. That is what we are hoping for and we will just have to wait and see what happens. There are a lot of fast cars coming up, so we will have to wait and see.”

GREG BIFFLE, No. 16 3M Ford Fusion

“I was hoping for better. I don’t think that is bad but I think we have a good car and the facts are we were just a little too tight. We haven’t been tight since we got here. We had been struggling with rear grip. That run there was really tight. I had to come out of the gas and really lay down on it the second lap to pick up. I am a little disappointed. I think our car is faster than that. That will be good in the race I guess to be starting where we are at and having a faster car.”

YOU’VE HAD A LOT OF CHANGES THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS WITH THE NEW BABY AND NEW CREW CHIEF. HOW ARE YOU HANDLING ALL THIS NEW STUFF? “Really good. Really good. Everything is running good and everything. The car is good. I am really looking forward to the race.”

(July 12, 2011) - J.J. Yeley will bring his strong record at New Hampshire Motor Speedway to Front Row Motorsports this weekend when he pilots the No. 38 Long John Silver’s Ford. Travis Kvapil, the car’s usual driver, will be racing in the Camping World Truck Series in Iowa. Sunday’s Lenox Industrial Tools 301 will be Yeley’s first time driving for Front Row Motorsports.

The 34-year-old Phoenix, Ariz., native has a strong resume at the flat track, with one top-five and three top-10 finishes in his Sprint Cup Series career. His best finish at the 1.058-mile oval is a third-place run in 2008.

The No. 38 Ford moved up one position in owners’ points (37th) after Kvapil’s 29th-place run at Kentucky Speedway last weekend. The team is still 16 points outside the top 35, so Yeley will need to qualify for the race on speed.

Comments from Long John Silver’s Ford team driver J.J. Yeley on the Loudon race:

“Statistically, New Hampshire is actually my best track on the circuit. So, I’m sure that helped in Front Row’s decision to put me in the car there. I know the No. 38 car has been close to getting back into the top 35 in owner points, and it seems like every time they get really close, they have some kind of setback. Hopefully we can have a good weekend and get those guys closer to getting back in.

“If someone hadn’t told me a couple years ago that New Hampshire was statistically my best racetrack, I wouldn’t have guessed that. It’s a very technical racetrack, being a short track and being flat, so you’ve got to save your equipment and you’ve got to be there at the end. For some reason, it fits the way I like to drive. I’m constantly working on changing my line to help the racecar. I think you can find speed at a lot of different racetracks that way, and New Hampshire is one of them.

“I know a fair amount of the guys on the Front Row team, so it’s not like working with strangers. I was at the shop Monday morning to get fitted in the car, and I saw a lot of faces from my days at Hall of Fame Racing and other guys that I’ve gotten to know over the years. I know Joe Williams is the new car chief on the 38, and I worked with him a little last year at Tommy Baldwin Racing. So, I do have relationships with some of the guys there, and it’s always good to see old friends. I’m just excited about the opportunity to go run a full race in some pretty nice equipment. I know the Ford FR9 engines seem to have a pretty good advantage right now in the series, so I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.

“It’s never easy to just jump in with a new team, of course, but sometimes you run into those relationships where everything just clicks. (Crew chief) Jay Guy seems to be a really easy guy to work with, and I know he’s going to start with a package that he’s run at New Hampshire a couple different times and it’s something that he’s comfortable with, so I’m comfortable going into it. Obviously, we have to qualify in, so we’ll make all qualifying runs on Friday. And because we’re working with a standard race schedule this weekend, that still gives us plenty of time to work on the race trim on Saturday.”

About Front Row Motorsports:

Last Time Out; Michigan International Speedway: J.J. Yeley’s most recent NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race came at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) where the Phoenix, Arizona native qualified 34th but finished 39th after encountering brake issues after 47 laps.

Back To The Beach; Daytona Beach: After racing his way into the 2011 edition of the Daytona 500, J.J. Yeley will return to the cockpit after taking last weekend off at Infineon (Calif.) Raceway behind the wheel of the No. 46 Red Line Oil Chevrolet Impala for Whitney Motorsports. Yeley started 33rd but finished a disappointing 43rd after the engine seized 10 laps into the “Great American Race.”

Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway Facts: Yeley will attempt to make his eighth career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway Saturday night. In his previous seven outings, Yeley, the former IZOD IndyCar Series driver has a career best finish of 12th in 2007. Yeley hoists an additional top-10 performance of eighth in the season-opener in 2006. In the NCWTS, Yeley has one start coming in 2010 driving for Daisy Ramirez Motorsports (DRM) qualifying 36th and cleverly drafting his way to an impressive 10th place outing, which also included leading a lap of competition.

Facebook Fun: By visiting the official J.J. Yeley Fan Page on Facebook, fans will have the opportunity to place “Speed Dice.” Fans are encouraged to submit a number between 2-12 and Yeley himself puts two dice inside his No. 46 Whitney Motorsports Chevrolet and upon returning to the garage from the completion of his qualifying run, Yeley retrieves the dice and works with his management team to see which fans guessed the correct number for the dice. Once the guessers are correctly chosen, Yeley then places all the winners into his helmet with their name on it, shakes the helmet and retrieves the final winner of the weekly addition of “Speed Dice.” The winner will receive a memorabilia item from J.J. Yeley himself. For additional rules and instructions on how to play, please visit J.J. Yeley’s Facebook fan page.

A Blast From The Past: Did you know that in 2005, J.J. Yeley made his Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) debut. Driving the No. 2 Joe Gibbs Performance Racing Oil in an alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing and Wayne Hixson Motorsports, Yeley qualified ninth and drafted his way to an impressive third at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in his inaugural restrictor plate debut. Joe Gibbs Racing utilized the development series to prepare Yeley for his impending full NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule which kicked off at the 2.5-mile superspeedway.

Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: J.J. Yeley, driver of the No. 46 Red Line Oil Chevrolet Impala:

On Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway: “I will always remember the first time I went to Daytona International Speedway, I couldn’t believe that the race track was right in the middle of town. You could walk from several restaurants or even the mall and be at the race track in just a few minutes. It’s something (a place) that takes your breath away.”

On The Old Daytona Surface Versus The New Daytona Surface: “The new surface at Daytona is great, the track surface is so smooth and has a ton of grip. It has changed the way you race, you are racing the competition instead of the race track.”

On Racing At Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway: “Restrictor plate racing is very mentally exhausting. The new two-car tandem is even more difficult because you have less control over what is going on around you on the track. The closing rate is so much faster than what it used to be with the conventional style of drafting.”

On The New Style Of Drafting: “The new style of drafting isn’t very much fun. If you are the pusher, imagine yourself driving a compact style car that is pushing a pickup truck. You can hardly see a thing and you rely on the spotter and the car you are pushing to keep you from wrecking the field. If you are the pushee, there is nothing worse than catching a pack of cars with no option of passing and trying to get slowed down before you plow into the back of them, all because the car behind you is pushing and can’t see that things are about to go bad for both of us.”

On The Attack Plan For Saturday Night: “The plan for Saturday is to find couple different cars that I can work with, I learned from Talladega that it is better to have radio communication with the cars I am working with. You can’t afford to just ride around like in years past, you can easily lose too much track position and get in jeopardy of losing a lap. We definitely want to have a better outcome than in February, the team deserves it.”
