Filed under Other Series, Press Releases

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Saturday, November 21, 2009) - Since he was named the 2009 Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil ASA Member Track Champion, Tommy Cloce has been waiting. The wait will be over next week as he will head to Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon, SC for his tryout with Joe Gibbs Racing.

“I am not really the nervous type, I am very excited for the opportunity I have in front of me,” Cloce recently said about his upcoming test. “The thought of the thousands of racers all over the world who would give anything to get the couple of days I am going to have is a dream for anyone. I am confident that next week will be something I will look back on as one of the most exciting times of my career. It will be fun to tell my kids about it and someday they will realize what a cool thing it was.”

Cloce will arrive in Charlotte on Monday morning and head right to Joe Gibbs Racing to be fitted in the car he will be testing on Tuesday. He will then receive a tour of their Nationwide Series shop along with their Sprint Cup Series shop.

After his tour, he will then make a 125-mile trek south to Dillon, SC for his test on Tuesday at Dillon Motor Speedway, an ASA Member Track. The test session will take up a bulk of his schedule that day.

On Wednesday, the 2009 National Champion will then head back to the Charlotte area for a meeting with JD Gibbs, President of Joe Gibbs Racing and possibly Coach Joe Gibbs as well. After the meeting, he will head to the airport and return to his Potsdam, NY home in time to spend Thanksgiving with his family and friends.

“This will be an exciting adventure for Tommy and I think he will have a memorable experience,” Dennis Huth, ASA President said. “The weather forecast looks awesome for his three-day visit and we wish him well with his test.”

ASA will provide updates of his three-day venture on its website at www.asa-racing.com.

Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, sponsor of the American Speed Association National Short Track National Championship, is the same oil developed and used by Joe Gibbs Racing. The team sells the oil so racers across the country can have access to the latest technology in racing lubricants.

Joe Gibbs Racing is one of the premier organizations in NASCAR, currently fielding three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams, two NASCAR Nationwide Series teams and a driver development program. Based in Huntersville, N.C., and owned by Joe Gibbs – a three-time Super Bowl winner as head coach of the Washington Redskins and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame – JGR has competed in NASCAR since 1992, winning three Cup Series championships and more than 80 NASCAR races, including three Brickyard 400s and the 1993 Daytona 500.

The American Speed Association Short Track National Championship is another step by the industry leader in creating new and innovative programs. This follows the recent announcement about extending the insurance coverage for ASA members traveling to, from, and during an ASA-sanctioned event. For updated ASA National Points, just click on the “Points” link at www.asa-racing.com.

ASA members in good standing are eligible for a $500,000 Excess Medical Benefit as well as a $20,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefit. Coverage for the member begins while traveling to a location promoting an ASA-sanctioned event and continues until arrival home again. The American Speed Association, in conjunction with WSIB Motorsports Insurance, is the only sanctioning body to offer insurance coverage which extends beyond the boundary of the racetrack itself (complete details are available online at www.ASA-Racing.com).
