Local resident proposes to long-time girlfriend prior to race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway

With some help from Gillette, Davis, 23, a long-time Charlotte-area resident and NASCAR fan, was able to pull off one of the most elaborate race proposals to date. Not only did the proposal include requesting his fiancée Ashley Woody’s hand in marriage in front of over one hundred thousand fans, it featured a special “Will you marry me, Ashley?” burnout on the jumbo tron created by the Gillette Young Guns drivers. The A-list team includes Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne, Joey Logano and Ryan Newman.
“This has been one of the best days of my life,” said Davis. “Ashley and I can’t thank Gillette enough for making the proposal something we never could have dreamed possible.”
The excitement did not end after Ashley agreed to become the future Mrs. Davis. On hand to present the couple with their first congratulations was Newman, who also announced that Gillette would provide the couple with $10,000 toward their wedding, as well as cover the honeymoon should one of the Gillette Young Guns drivers end the evening with a trip to Victory Lane.
