With just five races remaining, Starr finds himself twelfth in the driver standings twenty-six points out of the top-ten and the veteran driver knows it’s time to rally beginning this week at Las Vegas and make a move toward the top-ten, a goal the team set before the season’s first race in Daytona.
“Last year we had a great truck there and it was just unfortunate that we got a flat near the end of the race and did not get the finish we thought we might have. It was just some bad luck,” Starr said. “We are coming off a pretty good finish the last race, so we have a little momentum on our side. We’re looking forward to getting back to the track and to get our Zachry Toyota Tundra a little bit closer to the front.”
In 2002 David won both the pole and the Las Vegas 350 race at the mile and a half speedway just outside of Sin City. In eleven previous NCWTS races at Las Vegas David has accumulated three top-fives and five top-ten finishes. His average start is 14.5 and his average finish 12.6. David finished twelfth in the No. 81 Toyota last year.
“With Jason Miller, Matt Faulkner and everybody on the whole SS Green Light team working hard, we are just trying to put together some really good finishes these last five races to end the year. Our goal is to finish off the season in the top-ten in points. We are really focused and determined on getting the best finish we can to be sure we end up in the top-ten.”
The Riviera Hotel & Casino will be the official hotel of the SS Green Light Racing teams for this week’s Smiths 350. Both David Starr and Butch Miller will participate in a fan autograph session 7:30 Friday night at the Riviera Hotel & Casino.
“It’s pretty neat to have the Riviera partner up with us. It’s great to be a partner of a famous hotel and casino; it’s pretty awesome. We’re looking forward to Friday’s autograph session, the race fans are always really enthused anytime we do that out there in Vegas.”

The Smith’s 350 is the 266th consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team and the 286th career start for Starr in the Truck Series. David has four victories, 47 top-fives and 115 top-tens through his 14-year career including two top-fives and eight top-tens so far in 2011.
There are 32 trucks on the preliminary entry list for the Smith’s 350 including veteran Butch Miller who will pilot the Riviera Hotel & Casino/Stony Creek Appliance Repair No. 07.
Practice for the Smiths 350 will be Friday, October 14th from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. with qualifying at 4:30 p.m. The green flag will fall on the Smith’s 350 on Saturday, October 15th at 12:30 pm. It will be shown live on SPEED TV. It will also be broadcast live via radio worldwide on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and also Sirius XM NASCAR Radio. All times Pacific.
