“Kern Making Second NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Start This Season”

“I’ve been looking forward to racing a NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race in my home state for a long time,” stated Kern. “We’ve raced at tracks like Sandusky and Lorain County in different divisions, but to take our East Series car to Columbus is something pretty special for me. I really want to have a good showing in front of my home crowd.”
Kern is known throughout Ohio as one of the youngest female drivers to enter the national stage and the ranks of NASCAR. She has multiple championships in the ranks of quad motocross and karting, as well as wins in asphalt modifieds and late models. Kern is the youngest female racer to start in the K&N Pro Series East when she raced at Lee USA Speedway in 2010. She also made one start at the Greenville-Pickens (S.C.) Speedway earlier this year in the same series.
“We’re really looking at this race as an opportunity to showcase what we can do as a team,” continued Kern. “I love racing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and we have hopes to race the full schedule in 2012 if we can find the right funding. That is our goal and having a good showing here will really help us.”
Besides racing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, Kern has also found plenty of success racing an asphalt late model in the Template Body Racing Association (TBRA) Series this season. She is currently the championship point’s leader through five events. Kern has one feature win, three top-five and five top-10 finishes so far in 2011.
The team currently has support from Ohio-based Crown Battery, but continues to look for additional sponsorship to help her compete full-time in the series in 2012.
