Justin Allgaier

No. 12 Verizon Dodge Charger

Phoenix International Raceway – WYPALL 200

Verizon Team News and Notes

· This Week’s Verizon Dodge … Justin Allgaier will pilot Penske Racing chassis PRS-017 in Saturday afternoon’s WYPALL 200 at Phoenix International Raceway. This is the same Dodge Charger that Allgaier used to record his first career Nationwide Series pole at Memphis Motorsports Park in October of 2009. It then raced at Richmond International Raceway in April, where the 2009 Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year started ninth and finished 15th. The Verizon team utilized this chassis in both events at Gateway International Raceway in 2010, finishing 25th in July after being involved in a late-race incident. In its most-recent outing at GIR last month, Allgaier dominated much of the race before settling for a third-place finish.

· Allgaier at Phoenix … In four previous NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at PIR, Allgaier has recorded one top-10 finish and has completed 99.9 percent of the laps contested (803 of 804). Additionally, the 24-year-old driver has an average starting position of 20th and an average finish of 12th.

Through 33 Races … With 33 races of the 2010 season in the record books, Allgaier has accumulated two poles, one win, eight top-five and 19 top-10 finishes, an average starting position of 11.9 and an average finish of 11.6. Allgaier has led 221 laps of competition and has completed 97.6 percent of the laps contested (5,941 of 6,089) so far this season.

Five Years, Five Drivers … Crew chief Chad Walter has only been atop two pit boxes over the last five years at Phoenix, but he has worked with five drivers over that span. As a crew chief with Hendrick Motorsports, Walter worked with Adrian Fernandez, Kyle Busch, Casey Mears, and Landon Cassill. Since joining Penske Racing, Walter has established a familiarity with Allgaier, having called the shots for all four of the Riverton, Ill. native’s previous starts at the desert oval.

Get to the Points … Allgaier ranks fourth in the NNS championship point standings heading into this weekend’s event at TMS. He trails current point leader and Penske Racing teammate Brad Keselowski by 912 points, and third-place contender Kyle Busch by 217 points.

Best in Class … Allgaier’s fourth-place position in the point standings is best among full-time, Nationwide Series-only drivers. Allgaier leads fellow Nationwide-only driver Trevor Bayne, currently ranked eighth, by 375 points.

Dash 4 Cash Winner … While Allgaier’s 13th-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway last weekend wasn’t what he hoped for, it was enough to allow him to clinch the 2010 “Dash 4 Cash” bonus program. For his efforts, Allgaier was rewarded with a $75,000 bonus from the series sponsor, Nationwide Insurance.

Penske Racing at Phoenix … In nine previous Nationwide Series starts at Phoenix, Penske Racing entries have recorded two top-five and three top-10 finishes, and have been atop the leaderboard for 95 laps.

Penske Racing in 2010 … With 33 races completed in the 2010 season, Penske Racing’s two NASCAR Nationwide Series entries have recorded seven poles, seven wins, a combined 32 top-five and 46 top-10 finishes. Penske Dodges have completed 12,029 of 12,178 laps contested, and have been atop the leaderboard for 1,368 laps with drivers Allgaier and Keselowski.

Cast Your Vote … Some 30,000 fans have cast their votes since July 6, and Allgaier is currently ranked among the top-five in the NNS Most Popular Driver award voting (through Wednesday, Sept. 15). Fans can visit www.nascarnationwideseries.com to vote for their favorite NASCAR Nationwide Series driver. Voting continues through Saturday, November 13.

Meet the Driver … Allgaier will sign autographs at Wal-Mart, located at 1825 West Bell Road in Phoenix, Ariz. on Thursday, November 11 from 5 – 6 p.m. MST. On Saturday, November 13, fans can meet Allgaier at the Penske Racing souvenir trailer, located in the midway at PIR from 11:25 – 11:55 a.m.

Justin Allgaier on Phoenix International Raceway

“I really enjoy racing at Phoenix. It’s good to head to a race track where we’ve completed almost every lap that we’ve attempted. At the same time, our finishes haven’t been spectacular. I can’t seem to put my finger on what’s made Phoenix such a good track for me, but I think it has something to do with my dirt racing background. You’re always searching for different lines in the dirt, and because of the differences between the opposite ends of the track, you’re always searching for a line that will suit your car best.”

Crew chief Chad Walter on Phoenix International Raceway

“I’m really looking forward to Phoenix. We are coming off a strong short track showing at Gateway, and we’re bringing the same car we raced there. We had a top-five finish coming to us at Phoenix in the spring when a pit road accident took us out of contention. It’s one of Justin’s favorite tracks, it really seems to suit his driving style. We’re feeling good about our chances for a top-five finish this weekend.”

(July 15, 2010) – Returning to the Prairie State for the
second week in a row, Michael Annett and Germain Racing’s No. 15 Pilot
Travel Centers team will visit Gateway International Raceway following a
14th place finish at Chicagoland Speedway. Gateway International Raceway
is located just across the street from one of the 550 locations of Pilot
Travel Centers, primary sponsor of the No. 15 Toyota Camry. Coming back to
a track where he earned a seventh place finish in the 2009 NASCAR
Nationwide Series race, Annett is looking forward to Saturday’s
Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250.

Michael Annett - Photo Credit: Sam Greenwood / Getty Images for NASCAR

In his fourth ever appearance on the 1.25 mile oval, Annett hopes to
repeat the success he showed there in last season’s Nationwide Series
event. As the highest finishing Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate,
his seventh place finish in the 2009 Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250
was one of four top-10 finishes he earned in 2009 and one of his season
total of five Raybestos Rookie of the Race awards. The young driver also
has previous experience at Gateway in the NASCAR Camping World Truck
Series where he had a ninth place qualifying effort in 2008 and in the
ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards where he started third
and finished sixth in 2007.

New for the 2010 season, Gateway International Raceway will now host two
NASCAR Nationwide Series events. In addition to this weekend’s
Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250, the Madison Ill. track will also
present a second 250 mile Nationwide Series race on October 23 replacing
Memphis Motorsports Park on the schedule. October’s event at Gateway
will be a stand-alone race for the Nationwide Series as this weekend’s
race activity will be combined with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

In addition to his time on the track, Annett will also participate in some
fan friendly activities leading into Saturday’s race. On Friday, Annett
will sign autographs with fellow Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck
Series drivers for Gateway International Raceway season ticket holders on
pit road from 3:15-4:45 p.m. CT. The Germain Racing driver will also
compete in the annual driver/media water balloon toss. As the returning
champion in this fun yearly event, Annett looks to reclaim his event
winning title on Saturday.

Track activity for the Nationwide Series at Gateway International Raceway
begins on Saturday with practice from 10-11:15 a.m. and final practice
from 11:45 a.m. until 1 p.m. Nationwide Series qualifying kicks off at
4:35 p.m. and the green flag waves for the start of the Missouri-Illinois
Dodge Dealers 250 at 8 p.m. A live broadcast of qualifying airs at 4:30
p.m. and live race coverage begins at 8 p.m. on ESPN 2. All times are ET.

· Ranks 19th in the NASCAR Nationwide Series point standings

FORMER BRISTOL TRACK OWNER HOPES TO RETURN TO VICTORY LANE

Baker Curb Racing co-owner Gary Baker owned Bristol Motor Speedway from 1978-83 and presented Dale Earnhardt the trophy for his first career NASCAR Sprint Cup win in 1979. Baker hopes to return to victory lane in Bristol, this time on the receiving end of the trophy.

LAGASSE JR. HAS STRONG FINISH ON SHORT TRACKS IN 2009

In his final short track race of the 2009 season, Lagasse Jr. finished 9th in the U.S. Cellular 250 at Iowa Speedway. The week prior he qualified sixth for the Kroger 200 at O’Reilly Raceway Park.

· Ranked in the top 10 of the NNS Driver Point Standings for five weeks

OWNER GARY BAKER ON BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY

“It always brings back great memories going to Bristol and it would be extra special for Baker Curb Racing to get our first win as a team there. We have two competitive teams, with two great drivers that are capable of winning each week. We were so close to our first win in California and I think it’s only a matter of time before you see us in victory lane.”

SCOTT LAGASSE JR. ON BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY

“I’m looking forward to going to Bristol, the place is a blast! Last year was the first time I had raced there, I learned a lot and had a decent run. The guys have been working hard the last few weeks on the Dr. Gadget®/everybodygets1.com Ford and I think we’ll have a good car this week. If you look at the Nationwide races so far this season, I think there has been some pretty aggressive driving. I expect that you’ll see more of the same at Bristol.”

JEFF WHITE ON BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY

“Being born and raised in Tennessee, Bristol is at the top of my list of tracks that I haven’t been part of a win at, that I want to win. I’ve been a part of some teams that have had good runs there, but never made it to victory lane. We’re brining car 81, which is the car we were running 4th with at Memphis in October before experiencing some engine problems and is one of our best cars.

Bristol is a track where it is important to qualify well if you want to run well. Goodyear is brining a new left side tire which should hold up better and I think you’ll see some teams making two-tire stops. At the end of the day, you just need to avoid trouble and be there at the end.”

“Third generation NASCAR driver to wheel No. 23 Chevrolet with purpose”

China Grove, N.C. (March 16, 2010) – If a driver was able to pick one track where he might NOT want to make a debut with his new team, Bristol Motor Speedway might be at the top of the list.

But, when it comes to 21-year old Coleman Pressley, he simply says “bring it on.”

Pressley, a third-generation NASCAR driver, has made two starts at the concrete jungle of BMS. Last year, he qualified fourth in his family-owned UARA Late Model. And, he also made one NASCAR Nationwide Series start at the .533-mile, high-banked oval in 2009 for another team and was forced to exit the race early.

The difference this time is that Pressley will be looking to go the distance in the No. 23 Chevrolet of R3 Motorsports. Unsponsored and undaunted, the son of former Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series driver Robert Pressley, and grandson of multi-time short track champion Bob Pressley, this Pressley is wide eyed with anticipation.

Speaking of Robert, he’ll be on the spotter’s stand watching his son through all 250 laps of Saturday’s action-packed race. And, adding to the mix is Coleman’s crew chief, Steve Plattenberger, who was named to the position following the Las Vegas race. This won’t be the first time Plattenberger has called the shots for a Pressley. He did it for Robert back in the ST Motorsports days of his Nationwide Series career.

Chassis Info: The team will be utilizing Chassis No. 37, which was used last year at BMS, Memphis Motorsports Park and O’Reilly Raceway Park.

Fast Facts: This will be Pressley’s sixth career NASCAR Nationwide Series start. His best qualifying effort was 13th at Richmond last fall. Pressley is coming off a second-place finish last Sunday at Hickory Motor (NC) Speedway in the UARA Series.

Come meet Coleman: He will join other NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers at the Nationwide Souvenir hauler located in the North lot by the Hospitality Village on Friday, March 19 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Twitter Goal for Coleman: As he gets ready for his first NNS race of 2010, the driver has one goal he’d like to achieve before taking to the track. He wants to have 500 followers on his @colemanpressley twitter account before the first practice at 1:40 p.m. on Friday.

Testing, one-two-three, testing: To prepare for this weekend’s race at BMS, Plattenberger and the team went to Motor Mile (Va.) Speedway on Monday to test. According to all accounts from crew chief, driver and team – all went well.

Pepsi, Please: Pepsi has been named the “Official beverage company of R3 Motorsports.” The team will carry their fine line of products to the track each week, and have them available for the team at the R3 Motorsports shop in China Grove, N.C.

Coleman Pressley, a racing writer: You can follow along with the thoughts of the third-generation NASCAR driver as he does a daily diary on www.NNSRacing.com during the race weekend.

Coleman Pressley quotes

Talk about making your first start with R3 and Steve Plattenberger being on the pit box: “This is a great opportunity and I’m thankful to Mr. Richardson (team owner) and everyone there for making this happen. I’ve been by the shop a few times and tested with them twice now, and it’s a real good fit for me with their equipment and people. I sat on the pit box and listened to Steve talk to my dad on the radio when he was racing. Now, I’m going to be the one sitting in the race car with my dad listening. That’s pretty cool all in itself, I think.”

Bristol doesn’t scare you in regards to it being your first start with the team: “Nope, I’ve raced there before in my Late Model and felt real comfortable making laps there. I understand it’s a different story with a Nationwide car and the level of talent is a little taller. But, I’m just looking forward to making laps, earning respect from my fellow drivers and learning as much as possible. The two test sessions with R3 allowed me to get real comfortable with Steve and all the guys. I just hope I can do my part on the track so we can get a good finish.”

Speaking of finishes, what are you hoping for at BMS on Saturday: “Seriously, I’d like to get a top-20 finish out of this deal on Saturday. I think that would be pretty good.”

“David Reutimann to pilot the No. 10 Beringer Camry for another season”

MOORESVILLE, NC (February 4, 2010) – Braun Racing is pleased to announce the return of Beringer Vineyards to their sponsor line-up for the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series season. The California-based, Beringer Vineyards, which is returning to Braun Racing for its fourth year, will serve as a primary sponsor of the team’s No. 10 entry for three races in 2010. Veteran driver, David Reutimann, will once again pilot the No. 10 Beringer Vineyards Toyota Camry in those three events, which include Auto Club Speedway in February, Texas Motor Speedway in April and Chicagoland Speedway in July.

Reutimann has been a familiar face in the Nationwide Series since 2002. In 113 cumulative Nationwide Series starts, the Zephyrhills, Fla.-native has collected one win (Memphis Motorsports Park, 2007), 16 top-five and 40 top-10 finishes as well as three pole awards. In each of his four races behind the wheel of the Beringer Vineyards Camry in 2009, he posted top-10 finishes.

Beringer Vineyards looks forward to their continued partnership with Braun Racing.

“We are happy to continue our marketing partnership with Braun Racing for a fourth year,” said Francesca Schuler, Chief Marketing Officer, Beringer Winery. “They have done a tremendous job in promoting Beringer Vineyards to NASCAR fans nationwide. As for David Reutimann, we feel that he is a tremendous asset. In addition to being a very talented driver, he is a great representative for our brand. We feel very fortunate to have him as a part of the Beringer family and we are thrilled to be able to work with him for a second year. We all look forward to watching him drive the Beringer Vineyards Toyota to victory lane in 2010.”

Reutimann is pleased to have the opportunity to carry the Beringer Vineyards colors and to be able to continue competing in the Nationwide Series, if only on a limited basis.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to join forces with Braun Racing and Beringer Vineyards for another season,” said Reutimann. “Braun Racing is a first-class operation with a great group of people to support it. That is the reason they have been able to grow and expand into four full-time teams for 2010. I look forward to working with them again next season and competing to give Beringer their first win as a primary sponsor in the Nationwide Series.”

MOORESVILLE, N.C., January 21, 2010 – SS Green Light Racing is pleased to announce that Florida native Sean Murphy will pilot the team’s No. 07 Chevy Silverado in the season-opening NASCAR Camping World Truck Series NextEra Energy Resources 250 February 12th at the Daytona International Speedway.

Sean is no stranger to the SS Green Light Racing team having run twenty-four NCWTS races since 2004 for the Mooresville-based team including two previous starts in a truck at Daytona. In May of 2008 Murphy finished ninth in the Ohio 250 at the Mansfield Motorsports Speedway driving the No. 07, his best NASCAR finish to date.

Murphy racked-up six ASA Late Model Series victories with the SS Green Light Late Model team in 2007 and 2008, narrowly missing a $100,000 payday in 2008 at the Kings Ransom 300 at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Sean also made several NASCAR Nationwide Series starts in 2009.

Jason Miller will be Murphy’s Crew Chief at the NCWTS season-opener at the world center of racing. “I really like Sean, I think he has some potential that has not yet been tapped. I feel my strength is to get that potential out of young drivers.”

“Our goals for Daytona are to get Sean comfortable in the draft and then let him do his job. I think we’re going to have a good race at Daytona.”

Sean is excited to be back behind the wheel of the No. 07. “I love racing at Daytona and Talladega and the SS Green Light guys are building a new truck to take to Daytona this year. I looked it over at the shop and it looks real good.”

“Plate racing is kind of like playing a game of poker,” he continued. “You never know what hand your going to get dealt or what card is going to come up next.”

SS Green Light Racing General Manager Bobby Dotter is glad to see Murphy back with the team. “We’ve had a very good relationship with Sean and his family over the last six or seven years. I believe we have stepped-up our program in the last two seasons and we should be able to give Sean his best opportunity for a top finish this year.”

Murphy is currently working on sponsorship arrangements to possibly run the full NCWTS season for SS Green Light Racing.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 13, 2010) – A California native, and rising star in the Joe Gibbs Racing development program, Matt DiBenedetto will return to The Golden State for the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown, Jan. 29-30 at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale (Calif.).

Originally from Grass Valley, Calif., DiBenedetto burst onto the scene in 2009 as a consistent frontrunner in NASCAR Camping World Series East action. Although he competed in just seven of the season’s 11 events, DiBenedetto piloted the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Driven Toyota to a pair of wins, five top 10s and a 14th-place finish in the final standings. The 18-year-old rookie was also impressive in his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut last fall in Memphis when he qualified fifth and finished 14th.

The NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown will be the first time that DiBenedetto turns a lap around Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.

“I’m really looking forward to racing at Irwindale for the Showdown. It’s an awesome track and has multiple grooves which will make for some great racing,” said DiBenedetto, who will be behind the wheel of the No. 98 Toyota fielded by car owner Mike Curb. “I’ve never been there, only watched it on TV, so I’m really looking forward to turning some laps. I’m also excited to get to race in my home state, and in front of a bunch of my family members. I want to thank Mike Curb and Joe Gibbs Racing for making this race possible.”

“We are thrilled with the opportunity to help Matt,” Curb said. “He is a true talent with a very bright future.”

The seventh running of the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown, which brings together the top racers from across North America for the ”Daytona 500 of short-track racing,” will be highlighted by the 225-lap Camping World Series all-star race. Each race winner during the 2009 Camping World Series season is eligible for a protected starting spot, as are the 2009 champions from each of NASCAR’s six regional touring series and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champion.

DiBenedetto’s rookie campaign was highlighted by wins at Tri-County Motor Speedway and the June race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The 18-year-old earned poles in his first road-course races at Watkins Glen International and Lime Rock Park, and shattered the series’ qualifying record in the season finale at Dover International Speedway, which earned him the season Coors Light Pole Award. Despite not competing in four races, DiBenedetto also earned the series’ Wix Lap Leader Award.

“2009 was a great season for me. I won a couple races and I was able to get my feet wet with the Joe Gibbs Racing guys,” DiBenedetto said. “It also allowed me to get my first Nationwide race under my belt. I’m really looking forward to the 2010 season in the NASCAR Camping World Series East.”

In addition to eligible 2009 race winners and series champions, the starting lineup will be determined through time trials, limited provisionals for Camping World Series regulars, and the last-chance “Open” race that provides drivers one final chance to make the grid.

The 2010 NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown schedule also includes 100-lap Whelen All-American Series Super Late Model and 75-lap Late Model races. Both nights of racing will air live on SPEED.

Gaughan returns to RWR following a strong 2009 rookie season in the Nationwide Series. That effort included a pole win at Bristol and near victories at Charlotte, Kentucky and Memphis, en route to a ninth-place finish in the final driver standings.

Backing a portion of the No. 62 team’s 2010 efforts will again be the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Stated RWR Team Owner, Rusty Wallace, “Our entire organization is very pleased to have Brendan Gaughan behind the wheel of our No. 62 Toyota Camry again. He did a great job last year in his rookie season and came really close to winning a couple of races. I feel like we’ve upgraded our program greatly over last season, so hopefully we’ll be able to give him that extra push to get him into Victory Lane this time around.

“I’d really like to thank Michael and Paula Gaughan for their support of our organization. Their family is truly a class act and we’re all really looking forward to having them a part of the RWR family again this season. With that said, just like everyone else these days, our guys are still working very hard to finalize sponsorship. Our team offers an outstanding and unique value proposition and I’m confident that we’ll be able to put everything to bed shortly.”

Noted No. 62 Driver, Brendan Gaughan, “I’m excited to return home to RWR for 2010; there’s nowhere else that I’d rather be. Rusty (Wallace) has built a great organization and everyone is working extremely hard to get our Toyota Camrys in Victory Lane this season. With a full year of Nationwide Series experience under my belt now and all of the changes at the team, I can’t wait to get to Daytona.”

(Photo Credit: Jason Smith/Getty Images for NASCAR)

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (November 21, 2009) – Kyle Busch clinched the NNS driver’s championship and his first career NASCAR title when his No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) Camry took the green flag in Saturday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Once the race started, the Las Vegas-native proved he wasn’t just satisfied with winning the driver’s title by starting the race. Busch led a race-high 73 laps at the Florida track en route to victory lane in the series season-finale.

It marks the first time a Camry racer has won a NASCAR driver’s title since Toyota joined
Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series competition at the start of the 2007 season. Along with Busch’s driver’s title, Toyota has earned manufacturer’s championships in the Nationwide Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) this season. Previously, Toyota won the NNS manufacturer’s championship in 2008 and the NCWTS manufacturer’s championship three times (2006, 2007 and 2008). Tundra racers Todd Bodine (2006) and Johnny Benson (2008) also captured the NCWTS driver’s crowns.

Busch ended the year 210 points ahead of second-place Carl Edwards to capture his first career NASCAR championship and the second straight NNS owner’s title for JGR. A title- contender throughout the 2009 season, the Las Vegas-native led the NNS point standings since the Phoenix race in April. The 24-year-old driver has recorded nine NNS victories this season — winning events at California (Feb. 21), Texas (April 4), Richmond (May 1), Nashville (June 6), N.H. (June 27), St. Louis (July 18), Charlotte (Oct. 16), Texas (Nov. 7) and Miami (Nov. 21).

“It feels awesome to clinch the championship for Toyota, Z-Line Designs and NOS Energy Drink,” said Busch. “But, I’ve also got to thank all of the guys on the No. 18 team for what they do and the hours they spend — Jason (Ratcliff, crew chief) reading the books and the computer and going through all the notes. There are a lot of guys on this team that really deserve it. They work hard. The No. 20 team earned the owner’s championship last year and now that the No. 18 car has got a championship, everybody in the whole Gibbs shop is championship-worthy. It’s pretty cool.”

At California in February, Busch made NASCAR history by becoming the first driver to win two national touring series races on the same day at one track — capturing the checkered flag in the Nationwide Series race after visiting victory lane in the Truck Series earlier that day. His sweep of Texas in 2009 enabled Busch to become the first racer to win four consecutive NNS events at the Fort Worth track.

In 35 starts this season, Busch recorded a series record 25 top-fives and 30 top-10 finishes. Among his top-five results were 20 finishes of first or second, including a streak of 10 races (June 6 to Aug. 8 ) where he posted 10 consecutive top-two finishes — breaking Jack Ingram’s 1983 NNS record for most consecutive first or second-place finishes in series history.

Busch also made NASCAR history at Kansas (Oct. 3) where he broke the NNS record for laps led in a single season, which was previously held by Sam Ard with 2,127 laps led in 1984. Busch ended the year with 2,698 laps led.

Along with nine victories, Busch also recorded three pole positions in 2009 — at Texas (April 14), Nashville (June 6) and Dover (Sept. 26).

Busch’s championship comes in his second year — and first full season — driving a Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing in NNS competition. In 65 career NNS starts behind the wheel of a Camry, Busch has amassed 19 wins, seven poles, 43 top-fives, 50 top-10 results and has led 4,631 laps. Since 2004, he has 30 career series wins and currently ranks fourth in all-time series victories.

“We are extremely proud of Kyle Busch and everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing for what they’ve accomplished in the Nationwide Series during the past two years,” said Lee White, president and general manager of TRD, U.S.A. (Toyota Racing Development). “Kyle has performed at an exceptional level since he first stepped into a Camry last season and was able to win a championship in just his second year with Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota. Along with Kyle and everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing, we also need to recognize everyone at TRD for all their hard work and dedication.”

In 2009, Camry drivers won 15 races and captured 13 pole positions.

It was Scott’s strong mid-season run however that will define his tenure in the truck series. Scott posted 13 top-ten finishes, 7 top-five finishes and his first career NASCAR touring series win at Dover. He had several near misses, finishing second to NCWTS champion Ron Hornaday Jr. at Memphis and Nashville and adding third place finishes at Kansas, Milwaukee and St. Louis. For the majority of the campaign, Scott competed with a cast on his broken right wrist, courtesy of a hard crash at Michigan in the ninth race of the year.

“I really wanted to win this race for all the people that supported me,” Scott said. “All the guys on this Xpress Motorsports crew that worked so hard all year long, I really wanted to have a good run for them. My family, especially my mom and dad have been very supportive. We wanted to finish in the top-five in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points and we had a chance coming into the race only 13 points out but we just came up short. I just want to thank everyone for all their efforts all year long.”

Brian Scott

Scott qualified his No. 16 Xpress Motorsports Toyota Tundra in the 24th position. At the drop of the green flag he wasted no time in moving forward through the field, picking up 8 positions in the first three laps of the race. When the caution flag fell on lap 31 Scott came down pit road for tires on lap 32 and for fuel and a chassis adjustment on lap 33. He came into the pits 13th and exited in 11th. His crew discovered that Scott’s right rear tire had been cut and was leaking significantly during his previous green flag run. Shortly after the ensuing restart Scott climbed into the top-ten and seemed to be on the verge of making a strong run to the front.

In fact on 18 separate occasions Scott posted the fastest lap of the race. However a snafu in the pits during a pit stop under caution on laps 59 and 60 placed Scott in 19th. He was able to claw his way back into the top ten over the next 30 laps but he was forced to make a green flag pit stop on lap 98 and lost two laps to the leaders and fell back to 22nd. Scott made up one lap over the last segment of the event and passed 10 trucks to finish in the 12th position.

Kevin Harvick won the Ford 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, his second NCWTS win in a row. Matt Crafton, Colin Braun, Timothy Peters and Todd Bodine rounded out the top-five. Following NCWTS champion Ron Hornaday Jr. in points were Crafton, Mike Skinner, Bodine, Braun, Johnny Sauter and Scott.

“I am very excited to be back with the No. 10 team this weekend. I’ve learned a lot in the four starts with (crew chief) Stewart Cooper and am glad that I am making my first start at an intermediate track in a Nationwide Series car with this Braun Racing team. I raced at Homestead with the truck series in 2007 and learned a lot that weekend. I‘m looking forward to applying those lessons and getting a solid finish in our Borrell Electric Co./Construct Corps Camry.”

PREVIEW: JAMES BUESCHER (NO. 1 MICCOSUKEE RESORT & GAMING CHEVROLET)

VENUE: PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY (1-MILE TRI-OVAL)

CIRCUIT: NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES (RACE 34 OF 35)

DATE: NOVEMBER 14, 2009 (200 LAPS, 200 MILES)

BUESCHER AT PHOENIX: Prior to this weekend’s events, Buescher has made two career starts at Phoenix International Raceway. Last spring (2008), Buescher competed in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race for Braun Racing, where the 19-year-old started from the 17th position and finished in the 18th position, completing 201 of 202 laps (99.5%). In addition, Buescher has participated in a NASCAR Camping World West Series race during the 2008 season. The Texas native qualified in the 20th position, fought his way towards the front, and came home in sixth-place.

NATIONWIDE SERIES STATS: Through his short but impressive career, Buescher has made seven Nationwide Series starts, six of which came in 2008 for Braun Racing and one for Phoenix Racing last week at Texas Motor Speedway. In these starts, the rookie captured a career-best finish of seventh, in addition to claiming the pole position at Memphis Motorsports Park (October 2008).

DOUBLE DUTY: In addition to driving the No. 1 Miccosukee Resort & Gaming Chevrolet for Phoenix Racing on Saturday afternoon, Buescher will also compete at PIR in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Friday night. The Raybestos Rookie of the Year Candidate will return to his 2009 full-time effort, piloting the No. 10 MaxxForce International Ford F-150.

AUTOGRAPH SESSION: On Saturday, November 14th, prior to Nationwide Series qualifying, Buescher will join other NNS drivers for an autograph session from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. in Gatorade Victory Lane at PIR. To participate, fans are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or a $5 donation, as all donations will be made to the West Davidson Food Pantry in Davidson, N.C.

DID YOU KNOW?: Buescher made his first career Nationwide Series start at Phoenix International Raceway last spring.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Last week, Buescher, a Texas native who grew up watching and competing at The Great American Speedway!, made his first NASCAR Nationwide Series start of 2009 at Texas Motor Speedway with Phoenix Racing, piloting the No. 1 Miccosukee Resort & Gaming Chevrolet. Although Buescher had an unsatisfactory qualifying lap and fell one lap down early in the race, the teenager and the James Finch-owned team fought back and crossed the finish line with an impressive 11th-place effort.

STAY UP TO SPEED: The Able Body Labor 200 from Phoenix International Raceway will take the green flag this Saturday, November 14th at 4:30 P.M. Eastern. Race coverage will be televised live on ESPN2, beginning at 4 P.M. Eastern, and heard live on select affiliates of PRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio Channel 128, beginning at 4 P.M. Eastern. In addition, SPEED Channel will carry television coverage of both NNS practice sessions, at 11:30 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. Eastern respectively on Friday. Qualifying can also be seen live on SPEED at 12 Noon Eastern on Saturday.

QUOTES FROM BEHIND THE WHEEL:

BUESCHER (On racing at Phoenix International Raceway): “I’m looking forward to going back to Phoenix and racing in both the Truck Series and Nationwide Series this weekend. I competed in two different races there last year – one in the Camping World West Series and one in Nationwide and hopefully the seat time that I got in both of those races will help me out this time around. Phoenix is such a unique track that your car has to be set-up well to run up front and I’m confident that the guys on the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming Chevrolet team will give me another good piece.”

VENUE: PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY (1-MILE TRI-OVAL)

CIRCUIT: NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES (RACE 24 OF 25)

DATE: NOVEMBER 13, 2009 (150 LAPS, 150 MILES)

BUESCHER AT PHOENIX: Even though this will be his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Phoenix International Raceway, Buescher has made two career starts at the Arizona track. Last spring (2008), Buescher competed in the NASCAR Nationwide Series event for Braun Racing, where the 19-year-old started from the 17th position and finished in the 18th position, completing 201 of 202 laps (99.5%). In addition, Buescher participated in a NASCAR Camping World West Series race during the 2008 season. The Texas native qualified in the 20th position, fought his way towards the front, and came home in sixth-place.

CHASSIS INFORMATION: This week, crew chief Jamie Jones and the No. 10 MaxxForce International Ford team will unload Circle Bar Racing chassis CB-24. This will be the eighth race for this particular Ford F-150, as Buescher drove it to an 11th-place finish in the spring race at Martinsville Speedway, a fifth-place finish at The Milwaukee Mile, a 20th-place finish at Memphis Motorsports Park, a sixth-place finish at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, a 23rd-place finish at Gateway International Raceway, and most recently a 11th-place finish in the fall race at Martinsville Speedway.

TWENTY-FIVE AND COUNTING: Friday night’s Lucas Oil 150 will mark Buescher’s 25th career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start. The Raybestos Rookie has competed in every NCWTS race dating back to the season-finale event in Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2008.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR UPDATE: As the NCWTS season has two races remaining, Buescher currently sits third in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year point standings. The youngster is only 14 points behind second-place Tayler Malsam, while first-place Johnny Sauter has pulled away with a 59-point lead.

FINAL COUNTDOWN: Through the first 23 races of the 2009 NCWTS season, Buescher and his No. 10 MaxxForce International Ford team have recorded one top-five finish and three top-10 finishes, along with 13 top-15 efforts. The Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate has completed 92.7% of all laps competed (3449 of 3722). Buescher currently sits in the 14th position in the NCWTS Championship point standings, 115 markers behind 13th-place Tayler Malsam.

DOUBLE DUTY: In addition to driving the No. 10 MaxxForce International Ford for Circle Bar Racing on Friday night, Buescher will also compete at PIR in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Saturday afternoon. The rookie will pilot the No. 1 Miccosukee Resort & Gaming Chevrolet for Phoenix Racing in preparation for 2010’s full-time effort with the James Finch-owned team.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Last week, Buescher returned to his home state of Texas to compete in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series’ 23rd race of the 2009 season at Texas Motor Speedway, looking for a strong run in front of numerous family and friends. After two productive practice sessions, a top-10 qualifying effort, and a solid beginning of the WinStar World Casino 350, everything seemed to be going the youngster’s way. Unfortunately, Buescher lost the handling of his No. 10 MaxxForce International Ford during the 147-lap race, relegating the rookie to a 17th-place finish.

DID YOU KNOW?: Buescher has captured Raybestos Rookie of the Race Honors four times this season (Martinsville 1, Milwaukee, ORP, Martinsville 2), all of which came in chassis CB-24 – the same Ford F-150 that the Texas native will race this weekend at Phoenix.

STAY UP TO SPEED: The Lucas Oil 150 from Phoenix International Raceway will take the green flag this Friday, November 13th at 8:00 P.M. Eastern. Race coverage will be televised live on SPEED, beginning at 7:30 P.M. Eastern, and heard live on select affiliates of MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio Channel 128, beginning at 7:30 P.M. Eastern. In addition, NCWTS Qualifying can be seen on SPEED, Friday afternoon at 4:30 P.M. Eastern.

Friday is going to be my first race in a Truck there, but any track that we go to, the racing is always competitive and exciting for the fans. I’m sure it will be more of the same for everyone watching in the stands and at home.”

Driver Mike Bliss on Racing the No. 11 RIDEMAKERZ Toyota:

“Texas (last week) was a real good race, although the finish didn’t indicate how well we ran. We’re running the Memphis car at Phoenix, which Paul (Wolfe) and I have done before and wound up with good results at Phoenix. So we’re excited about that. Everything’s been going well and I’ve just been waiting for something to happen, because everything that goes well can always have something go wrong. But I’m trying not to think that way. It’s just been a lot of fun these last few weeks.”

Driver Mike Bliss on Phoenix:

“I have been racing at Phoenix since 1981. I won a lot of races there in open-wheel cars, Sprint Cars and Silver Crowns. I Iove the racetrack and I think I understand the racetrack well. I look forward to going there.”
