After tackling some of the toughest short tracks on the circuit, Evans Jr. credentials have been elevated in the series allowing him the opportunity to qualify and compete in the Kansas Lottery 98.9 from the 1.5-mile oval on Friday, October 7. The final intermediate track will offer crucial seat time for the former INEX Legend Car Series driver as his presence on the tour is expected to strengthen in 2012.

Guided by crew chief Howard Bixman, the team spent the eight-hour session successfully getting their equipment dialed in to their driver’s liking while also making routine adjustments to their No. 99 Elevator Transportation Services Ford Fusion as the track’s characteristics completed its cycle.

Overall, the Friendswood, Texas native posted unofficially the 19th quickest time with a time of 33.722 seconds or 160.133 miles per hour. The Mooresville, North Carolina-based team now returns to their shop to put the final touches on their automobile for the 18th ARCA Racing Series contest of the year.

Charles Evans Jr.

“I am content with what we learned at Kansas Speedway,” said Evans Jr. “Howard (Bixman) and the whole Team BCR team gave it their all throughout the day and we continued to settle down the car and make it faster. Within the last couple hours, I feel like we made some significant gains in the right direction that will help us tremendously when we return in two weeks.

It was a huge eye-opener as far as my career is concerned. Jumping from these small and tight short tracks to a speedway track like Kansas which carries higher speeds and a different type of “focus.” It was definitely beneficial for us to participate in the test, because we can try and pick up right where we left off.”

Bixman offered similar encouragement from the session.

“For never being on anything bigger than a 5/8 mile track, CJ did very well,” the Michigan native said. “We were very conservative on the set up along with him just logging laps in the morning. In the afternoon when he gained more comfort, we gave him a less conservative set up and he ran very good competitive laps in race trim.

We kept a very comfortable set up under him all day. The whole focus was seat time and working on aerodynamics mostly being this is a brand new Ford Fusion that we built for him. The crew has worked long hours to get this new car built along with the other new car for Toledo. I want to sincerely thank the crew along with Nick Ramey from RoushYates Engines for all the hard work and extra effort. I’m very proud of CJ. He adjusted well, gained good quality seat time and we learned a lot about this new Ford Fusion.”

The Kansas Lottery 98.9 (100 laps / 150 miles) is the 18th of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 11th ARCA event held at Kansas Speedway is a one-day show. Practice begins Friday, October 7 with a two hour and 15 minute practice session planned from 9:00 a.m. -11:15 a.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin later in the day at 5:35 p.m. The field will take the green flag approximately two hours later at 7:30 p.m. The event will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the 1,330th race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards since it was formed in 1953 will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com presented by ARCANation.com. All times are local.

Raceway debut continuing her Tony Marks Racing (TMR) team’s run of consistent finishes in the Pocono ARCA 200.

Never have seeing the defying 2.5-mile triangle before practice on Friday morning, fellow Dodge teammate and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Kurt Busch offered the Sorel, Quebec native a private tour around the “Tricky Triangle.” Undoubtedly, the advice paid off.

In practice, Dufault in her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger mounted the 17th fastest practice lap. Throughout practice, she showed massive improvement which climbed the freshman team through the running order.

The TMR team led by Darren Wolfe and Ryan Chism elected to make minor changes to her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger hoping to give her a little more speed in Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying. In time trials, Dufault found more speed and negotiated a 15th place qualifying position, a career best in seven races.

The strategy for Dufault and her TMR team was to learn and finish the race.

Through the race’s first 15 circuits, the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger maintained a spot in the top-15. With the leaders on a torrid pace, Dufault would lose a lap under green but would fight off her other challengers for the Aaron’s Lucky Dog. The caution flag waived on lap 17, with Dufault rightfully earning her lap back.

A solid pit stop by the TMR team would return the former NASCAR Canadian Tire Series competitor into the top-15. With light rain falling and fog present though, the caution period extended over the next 12 laps, and initially, ARCA officials decided to drop the green flag on lap 32. After restarts to begin laps 32 and 33 were aborted, officials instructed drivers to drive down pit road to close lap 35 where the red flag would be issued as everyone waited for the fog to lift.

A short time later, the cars would be re-fired and moved from pit road. The green flag would fly on lap 38 with Dufault on the move. Making work of her challengers, Dufault would move into the 13th position when the caution flag would waive on lap 50. The team followed the leaders and made the trip to pit road for four tires and fuel. Dufault called for no adjustments as she was very comfortable with her race car.

Restarting the event on lap 57 in the 12th position, Dufault would get yet another lap under her belts before a caution flag waived two laps later for again dense fog around the facility. Red flag conditions would again adorn the field but ultimately the fog would force ARCA officials to consider the race complete on lap 59 with Dufault scored in the 12th position.

Maryeve Dufault

“It was a very good day for Tony Marks Racing, VR-12 and Dodge,” said Dufault, who notched her fourth top-15 finish in seven races. “I learned a lot this weekend that will help us when we come back in August. Tony (Marks, owner) did a great job spotting and the team was strong in the pits. I’m happy with a 12th in my first Pocono start. Hopefully we can keep these solid finishes going.”

As for Marks, who played a double-duty role at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, he was exceptionally pleased with the outcome. “It was nice to see the progress of Maryeve from start to finish this weekend,” he said. “Darren, Ryan and the whole TMR team did a great job giving her a competitive car that she was able to maneuver through a very difficult track in some uncharacteristic conditions.”

With her finish on Saturday, Dufault remains 10th in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings after seven races.

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is round eight of nine on the 2011 schedule. The RainEater Wiper Blades 200 from the two-mile oval of Michigan International Speedway is set for Friday, June 17th at 5:00 p.m. Eastern live on SPEED. Dufault will make her inaugural debut at the track nestled in the “Irish Hills.”

That trend continued on Saturday for Corr and his family-owned team in the Pocono ARCA 200 at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway.

With Corr’s experience at the 2.5-mile track and the knowledge of his crew chief Howard Bixman, Corr felt that this was an opportunity to propel his Empire Racing team into the spotlight.

The weekend started off solid for the Goshen, New York native after the team produced the ninth quickest lap in practice. Comfortable with their car, the team was optimistic leaning into Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying.

Corr was the fourth of 33 cars to make his qualifications run at the track nicknamed the “Tricky Triangle.” During his one lap run, Corr in his No. 82 TransTech / Roush Yates Engines / Roush Yates Performance Ford Fusion maneuvered a lap of 55.933 seconds at 160.907 miles per hour landing the team 10th on the starting grid, a season best for the Empire Racing team in 2011.

The team was anxious to turn their first top-10 qualifying run into their first career top-10 finish in Corr’s fifth Pocono start.

Mother Nature has played havoc with the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards for much of the season and Saturday proved to be no different. With a light mist in the air, the drop of the green flag for the seventh race of the season would waive shortly before 2:00 p.m.

Corr immediately found himself battling the No. 1 of Chad McCumbee and No. 6 of Bryan Silas for a position in the top-12. Early on, Corr reported to Bixman that his car was aero tight. Despite the handling woes, Corr in the No. 82 TransTech / Roush Yates Engines / Roush Yates Performance Ford Fusion would continue to fight Silas for the 11th position.

When the first caution flag waived on lap 17, Corr was able to catch his breath and communicate with Bixman on what changes were to be made to their automobile. When pit road opened on lap 19, Corr joined the rest of the lead lap competitors down pit lane where four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment were in store for the blue oval.

With light rain falling and fog present, the caution period extended over the next 12 laps, and initially, ARCA officials decided to drop the green flag on Lap 32. After restarts to begin laps 32 and 33 were aborted, officials instructed drivers to drive down pit road to close Lap 35 where the red flag would be issued as everyone waited for the fog to lift.

A short time later, the cars would be re-fired and moved from pit road. The green flag would fly on lap 38. Corr would resume the race from the 10th position.

Over the next 12 laps, Corr would maintain that spot in the 10th position until the caution flag waived again on lap 50 which allowed the leaders to make their final trip to pit road.

Bixman would again call for four tires, fuel and a minor chassis adjustment hoping to give Corr a much needed boost to maneuver his way through the pack. Corr would leave pit road in the 11th position after several competitors ahead of the Empire Racing team elected to utilize different pit strategy.

Restarting the event on lap 57, Corr would give a gallant charge to pass the 10th place competitor of Matt Merrell but would be stalled by a caution flag that waived two laps later for dense fog again around the facility. Red flag conditions would again adorn the field but ultimately the fog would force ARCA officials to consider the race complete on lap 59 with Corr locked in the 11th position.

Sean Corr

“I cannot say enough about this team,” said Corr. “They never give up. We were so close to a top-10, we just needed another lap. It was a tricky race for sure. The conditions were something like I had never experienced. We made it through though. We badly wanted a top-10 for TransTech, Roush Yates Engines and Roush Yates Performance but we’ll take the 11th and solider on to Michigan and finish what we started here.”

Corr added, “the car was really good all weekend. We made some adjustments and the car responded. I think on that final restart if we just could have settled into some green flag racing we would been good. I’m grateful to all my guys and our supporters for everything they’ve done. I’m looking forward to Michigan.”

Before the 27 year old’s career best 11th place run on Saturday, his best ARCA finish also occurred at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway last June where he guided his Ford Fusion to a solid 12th place finish. Corr maintains ninth in the championship standings with 12 races remaining.

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is round eight of 19 on the 2011 schedule. The RainEater Wiper Blades 200 from the two-mile oval of Michigan International Speedway is set for Friday, June 17th at 5:00 p.m. Eastern live on SPEED. Corr will make his second career start in the “Irish Hills” and look to improve on his 18th place finish from last June.

After enduring the tracks of Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, Salem (Ind.) Speedway, Toledo Speedway and most recently the challenging road course of New Jersey Motorsports Park – Dufault was set to make her ARCA intermediate track debut at the 1.5-mile speedway.

Despite not testing at Chicagoland Speedway, Dufault and her TMR team entered the sixth race of the season with confidence that a large oval track would allow the Sorel, Quebec native to strut her stuff and show improvement from start to finish.

Gains from the start of practice had the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger going in the right direction by posting the 21st fastest lap during the hour and a half practice session. Changes made by crew chief Darren Wolfe would allow Dufault to throttle hard in Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying lining up her automobile in the 20th position.

An hour before the sixth race of the season was to take the green flag; Mother Nature invaded Chicagoland Speedway and completely drenched the facility, ultimately forcing officials from ARCA, NASCAR and Chicagoland Speedway to postpone the start of the event until the conclusion of the NASCAR Nationwide Series’ STP 300.

Several hours later and nearly 20 degrees cooler, the ARCA Racing Series would be given the command to start the engines.

From the drop of the green flag, Dufault did an excellent job to click off laps and gain experience around the extremely fast 1.5-mile speedway. Hovering inside the top-18 for much of the event’s first quarter, Despite posting respectable lap times Dufault would lose a lap to the leaders by the time routine pit stops occurred on lap 37.

Four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment was the call from atop of the pit box which sent the former NASCAR Canadian Tire Series back into the hunt. Continuing to mount laps and gain priceless experience, Dufault would safely hover inside the top-20 racing with the likes of Bobby Gerhart, Sean Corr, Brent Brevak and Stefan Rzesnowiecky.

Eight laps past the half-way mark, Dufault and her TMR team received a welcome break when the yellow flag waived allowing the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger to retain their lost lap back courtesy of the Aaron’s Lucky Dog.

Back on the lead circuit, Dufault was determined and focused to move her Chrysler nameplate towards the top-10. Methodically moving her way forward, Dufault nicely hit her marks and utilized the give and take method to steer her TMR entry towards a career-best finish.

Despite inching up the leader board, Dufault would again lose a lap to the ultra-quick Chad Hackenbracht with 26 laps remaining, putting the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger once again one lap off the pace. Running solidly in the 13th position with 17 laps to go, Dufault was biding her time waiting for the perfect opportunity to pass the No. 3 of Brent Brevak and the No. 96 of Stefan Rzesnowiecky.

When leader Chad Hackenbracht blew a tire with 15 laps to go, the yellow flag was displayed allowing the lone female driver in the event to catch her breath and gather her thoughts for the closing laps. As an added bonus, the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger once again became the beneficiary of the Aaron’s Lucky Dog.

Restarting in 12th, Dufault was able to move up two positions over the race’s final 10 circuits to cross the start finish line in 10th, the team’s best finish since their series debut at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February.

Maryeve Dufault

“I’m really happy,” said Dufault. “VR-12, Dodge, Tony Marks and the entire Tony Marks Racing team really needed this. At the start of the race, I was a little worried because the car was so loose. I consulted with the team and we were able to make some changes and the car’s handling improved considerably. We had a good car. I was just being patient, racing with the cars I could and being extra careful around the slower cars after our last two races. My main goal was to finish the race and pick up some momentum to carry into these big races coming up. As a team, we’re going to build on this and look for more top-10s down the road. The team did an amazing job.”

As for Tony Marks, owner of TMR, he was one of the happiest car owners in the garage area Saturday night. “I’m tickled,” Marks explained. “Maryeve did a fantastic job of showing maturity and patience. We were going to be satisfied with a solid top-15 finish but to leave Chicagoland with a top-10, I’m thrilled. I have to thank VR-12, Dodge, Victory Water and all those who stand behind and support TMR. A huge congratulations to the team as the finish was a total team effort. Hopefully we can go to Pocono next weekend and make it back-to-back top-10 finishes.”

With their performance Saturday night, Dufault climbed into the top-10 in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings where she currently occupies 10th, 65 markers behind ninth place competitor Sean Corr.

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is the first of two trips to Pocono (Pa.) Raceway for the running of the Pocono ARCA 200, round seven of 19 on the 2011 schedule. Dufault and TMR will make their inaugural start at the 2.5-mile triangle on Saturday, June 11.

Patrick Sheltra

BROOKLYN, Michigan (June 9, 2010) – - On the heels of an impressive seventh consecutive top-10 finish in the 2010 ARCA Racing Series (ARS) presented by RE/MAX and Menards season last Saturday at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, Indiantown, Florida native Patrick Sheltra steers towards Michigan International Speedway (MIS), site of Friday’s Racing for Wildlife 200 aiming for more than a win. The current ARCA point’s leader is also thriving on keeping his virtually flawless season alive.

The 24-year old Sheltra has experienced his fair share of hiccups in 2010 but the determination and “never give up” attitude from his Sheltra Motorsports team has kept the ARCA pro on his toes which has ultimately led to his strongest start to a racing season ever.

Speaking of his team, the Jon Wolfe-led operation returns to MIS this week pumped following their open-test at the two-mile oval two weeks ago which saw the Mooresville, North Carolina-based race team claim second overall during the eight hour free practice run. Armed with the same Toyota Camry and plenty of confidence, the team feels that their first win could be inevitable at the conclusion of the eighth race of the year.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited to go back to Michigan,” said Sheltra, driver of the No. 60 Recycling Services / Ferguson Pipe Toyota Camry. “This is a brand new car to the Sheltra Motorsports stable this year and it’s been stout. The test went real good. We were very consistent on race runs and exceptionally strong in qualifying trim; I cannot wait to get going on Thursday.”

Wolfe, crew chief of the Grace Sheltra-owned machine is equally excited about Friday’s contest.

“Our test was the best so far this year,” Wolfe remarked. “We unloaded well and were able to fine tune and try new things from there. I really feel like it will be our race to lose, we have so much momentum and confidence right now that we just know that winning is right around the corner.”

The aspiring NASCAR driver will make his fifth start at the Irish Hills based speed plant on Friday afternoon. In his previous starts, Sheltra has mastered a best finish of sixth in 2008 after qualifying 19th. Sheltra started the 100-lap event last year in the seventh position and had worked his No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Toyota Camry up into the third position before the engine expired on lap 73 resulting in a 33rd place finish.

“My results have been mixed at Michigan,” sounded Sheltra. “I like the track. It’s so wide that it allows a driver to maneuver their way around the track three and sometimes four wide. We’ve always raced well there even when we weren’t able to make it to the end. Nonetheless, we have our goals set for the weekend. We would like to put ourselves in contention for the win and try and extend our lead in the point standings.”

Sheltra, also known as “Mr. Showtime” in the ARCA garage added, “In order to being in the hunt for the win, you have to keep the fenders clean and make yourself aware that the race could be won or lost based on fuel mileage. I’ve had so many scenarios go through my head this week but when I put that helmet on Friday, I’ll know what I need to do and we’ll look to keep doing what we’ve been doing all year long and that’s finishing strong and putting our team in the spotlight.”

Cost-effective marketing partnerships are still available for Michigan International Speedway this weekend and for the remainder of the 2010 ARCA Racing Series season. For additional information, please contact marketing@patricksheltra.com.

Entering Michigan, Sheltra has 74 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem (Ind.) Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 14 top-fives and posted 29 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field six times for 148 laps.

The Racing for Wildlife 200 (100 laps / 200 miles) is the eighth of 20 events on the 2010 ARCA Racing Series schedule. The 29th ARCA race at Michigan International Speedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Thursday, June 10 with a two hour practice session planned from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is set for later in the day slated to begin at 3:00 p.m. The event will take the green flag on Friday, June 11 shortly after 5:00 p.m. The event will air live on SPEED. Additional race coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the week will be available through the BAS Racing Network in conjunction with the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.

Since changing crew chiefs at Springfield, Brent has yet to finish outside the top-15 and accelerated from a trio of those top-15 runs to a career best fourth in his inaugural ARCA road course debut.

With the twists and turns done for the year, Brent must quickly change gears and focus on his second career start at Salem Speedway. In April, the track’s intimidation clearly tried to stall the team’s goal at a top-10 finish. However, after working on the handling of the No. 36 Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge Charger throughout the event, Brent was able to survive a series of melees and the track’s aggressiveness to collect a well earned 10th place finish.

The effort was the first of six top-10s this year also coming in his first start of the year for Justin Allgaier Motorsports (JAM). With some momentum on their side, the team returns to the Southern, Indiana track looking for their second straight top-five. Victory lane is also a familiar place for the Springfield, Illinois team at the Salem bullring and the Shelby Township, Michigan native would like nothing more than to power his team back to that familiar place under the lights this weekend.

Robb Brent

“We need to keep this momentum going,” said Brent, who has been a juggling a busy fall college schedule in-between racing. “I’m feeling so upbeat after our run at New Jersey last weekend; I know we can go to Salem this weekend and improve on our run from the Spring.”

He added, “Salem is a pretty aggressive race track. It has Darlington and Bristol all built into one. The bright side for our team was that we were able to come away from Salem in April with a top-10 run but it wasn’t a run that we were proud of. We’ve had 16 races since then and I know we’ll be much better when we unload this weekend. Keeping our string of strong qualifying runs alive is important to me but trying to put our team in victory lane is the bigger picture.”

With his third career ARCA top-five in Millville last weekend, Brent moved ahead in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings to ninth. However, just five points separate the 22-year old hot shoe from Tom Hessert III, who’s trailing in 10th. Finishing strong in the next three races are crucial for Brent to conquering his goal of finishing inside the top-10.

“To be ninth right now, all things considered is great,” Brent added. “Our goal was to get to 10th and anything above that was a bonus, after missing the show at Daytona. We can’t afford to give an inch though. To keep us heading in the right direction; we just need to keep doing what we’ve been doing and hope everything else works out.”

Washington Township, Michigan based Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep will continue it’s long-time association with Brent and serve as the primary sponsor on Brent’s No. 36 Dodge Charger this weekend. Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep has backed Brent since his entrance into racing at the age of 16.

Prior to joining Justin Allgaier Motorsports, Brent participated in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving for NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski and Brad Keselowski Racing. In his 34 ARCA starts, Brent has acquired three top-five finishes and 11 top-10 efforts. Brent notched his career best qualifying effort of second at Kentucky Speedway last year. He has led the ARCA RE/MAX Series pack twice for 21 laps in 2008. His best finish in the NCWTS occurred at Nashville Superspeedway in his inaugural truck debut where he finished 21st after qualifying 26th.

This season, Brent has one top-five and six top-10 finishes in 17 starts with a best finish of fourth at New Jersey Motorsports Park in September. A third place qualifying effort at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds in September is the team’s season best thus far.

Rewinding back to Springfield for a second, Silas, a third year veteran on the ARCA tour finished 20th. Silas appeared to be on his way to a solid top-15 effort but a late race spin knocked the driver down a few notches to record his third straight top-20 effort at the Springfield Mile.

With the dirt racing done for at least two more races, Silas and his Fast Track Racing team head to the “Windy City” looking for a stellar run that will help Silas capitalize on his goal of motoring back into the top-five in the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship chase.

It was the 1.5-mile speed plant of the Chicagoland Speedway last year where Silas really showed maturity and strength. Using a little bit of pit strategy, the Fast Track Racing team owned by 1995 ARCA RE/MAX Series Champion Andy Hillenburg pitted early while a slew of the front-runners were forced to pit under green flag conditions. As the pit stops were cycling through the yellow flag waived with Silas being one of the five beneficiaries on the track who elected not to stop and were rewarded by remaining on the lead lap.

Despite battling a tight No. 11 Ford Fusion, Silas was able to manhandle his machine and remain in the top-five before eventual leader Scott Lagasse overtook the 22-year old which backslid the team to the sixth position where they took the checkered flag.

Thanks to the assistance and guidance of Crew Chief Cal Boprey, Silas returns to the Joliet-based facility on the heels of a successful test last week feeling motivated about potentially grabbing his first ever ARCA RE/MAX Series victory.

“The test was a great success for our team,” said Silas, who spent his recent downtime with his race team in Concord, North Carolina. “Our car is capable of qualifying and running up front and with a little luck, we can win the race. I’ve never felt confident leaving a test as I did last week. I’m looking forward to the race.”

Set to make his fourth career start at Chicagoland Speedway, Silas knows that the track sports similar characteristics of its sister track Kentucky Speedway. Last month, Silas produced his best intermediate track performance to date. Unfortunately, a miscue on fuel mileage saw the No. 11 drop from the third position to the 22nd spot in the event’s final four laps.

“Kentucky and Chicagoland are very similar,” offered Silas. “We were catching the leaders when we ran out of gas at Kentucky. It was frustrating but at the same time it showed everyone that we can run up front on the bigger tracks. Our goal on Friday is to back up our performance from Kentucky.”

Nason, Yeager, Gerson, White & Lioce P.A., Holland Pump, Oasis Outsourcing, Palm Beach Grading (PBG) and Rockingham Speedway will all sponsor Silas’s Ford Fusion for his 65th career ARCA start this weekend.

The Ansell Cut Protection 150 (100 miles / 100 laps) is the 15th of 21 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The ninth ARCA event held at Chicagoland Speedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Thursday, August 27 with a one hour and twenty minute practice session planned from 4:10 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. A Happy Hour practice run has been set for Friday morning August 28 from 8:00 a.m. – 8:50 a.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. The field will take the green flag shortly after 5:30 p.m. The event will be televised live on SPEED with additional broadcast coverage available live through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.

SPRINGFIELD, Illinois (August 20, 2009) – - The first of two dirt races are upon the ARCA RE/MAX Series this weekend starting with the Illinois State Fairgrounds and without hesitation it would be easy to pick Patrick Sheltra and his Whitesville, Kentucky based Sheltra Motorsports team as a pre-race favorite for Sunday’s Allen Crowe 100.

And with the 2009 season beginning to wind down and just eight races left on the homestretch – Sheltra is aiming to put his veteran team back in victory circle at a place that Sheltra calls one of his “favorites” on the tour.

Patrick Sheltra

“Welcome to my turf,” said Sheltra when refereeing to the Springfield, Illinois race track. “I say that every year but I really enjoy these dirt races on the ARCA schedule. I finished third here in 2007 and last year we had a car capable of winning the race but were stalled with a flat tire. This year, its bottom’s up and we’re determined to put our team back where they belong, victory lane.”

With an aggressive six race schedule packed within a month’s time, Sheltra knows that kicking off the string with a positive run can put his team back on the path towards blossoming to the front.

“I think these dirt races are what the racing doctor ordered,” sounded Sheltra. “Our team as a whole is excited about Springfield and DuQuoin because we know our chances of winning there increase tremendously. While I’m confident we have a shot at being victorious this weekend, the field is going to be strong which should put on a great event for the fans.”

At this same point last year, Sheltra was securing the 10th place position in the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship chase with just six races remaining. This year, Sheltra is eighth on the tour with eight races remaining. Sheltra was able to produce strong finishes inside those final half-dozen races last year which propelled the avid hunter to a career best sixth in the championship chase. This year, finishing inside the top-five is still realistic but it will take a never give-up attitude and a little luck to make it happen.

“This team is not going to give up, that’s a promise,” added the Indiantown, Florida native. “I feel we have some very strong tracks coming our way that we should excel at. As a team, we’ve set the goal for winning a couple more races and finishing inside the top-five. Realistically, we can make it happen!”

Crew Chief John Hayden has elected to bring Sheltra Motorsports chassis number 7 to the Illinois State Fairgrounds this weekend. This is the same automobile the team participated with the Illinois State Fairgrounds last year and notched a runner-up finish at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. The team converted the former Dale Earnhardt, Inc. automobile to a Dodge Charger during the last year. It will be run for just the seventh time in the 23-year old’s career. Chassis number 16 will serve as the team’s back-up automobile. That former Richard Childress Racing entry is a new addition to the team’s fleet. The Whitesville, Kentucky based team tested this Dodge Charger at Michigan International Speedway in May.

Entering Springfield, Sheltra has 59 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated nine top-fives and posted 19 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field five times for 109 laps.

The Allen Crowe 100 (100 miles / 100 laps) is the 14th of 21 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 27th ARCA event held at Illinois State Fairgrounds is a one-day show. Practice begins Sunday, August 23 with a one hour practice session planned from 9:00 a.m.- 10:00 a.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. The field will take the green flag Sunday afternoon shortly after 1:00 p.m. The event will not be televised but broadcast coverage will be available live through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.

In 13 starts this year, Merrell has recorded five top-five finishes and posted a worst finish of 20th at Mansfield Motorsports Park in June when a mechanical gremlin evaporated a potential sixth top-10 finish of the year.

Leaning on the success of his past two races, Merrell hopes that his dues have been paid and he can record his first career victory in his inaugural debut at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. And should the Portland, Texas native pull off the feat, he will crown the Win-Tron Racing team with their third win of the 2009 season.

“I’m just thankful to be driving this weekend,” said Merrell, who mentioned at Pocono Raceway he wasn’t sure if he would be racing any more this year due to lack of funding. “We’ve had some killer success here lately and to be given another shot at putting the team back in victory lane is a huge confidence boost for me.”

For the sixth time this season, Merrell will tackle a track that he has never seen before. This weekend however, the Illinois State Fairgrounds is a little different from all the rest — it’s a dirt track.

“This is going to be really interesting,” Merrell said with a smile. “I’m not really worried about the race on Sunday, it’s just going to be a new side of racing that I’ve yet to experience. The good side is that I have the Win-Tron team behind me and they’ve put great cars underneath me that have allowed me to shine in possible times of doubt. This weekend, we’re looking at continuing that trait.”

“Dirt racing in the ARCA cars I’ve heard is a lot of fun,” the former USARacing Series veteran added. “The cars are sliding sideways through the corners and the dirt is grinding all over the car and the field is extremely tight. It’s going to be a new experience for me, but one that I’m really excited about.”

With an unknown schedule looming in the future for Merrell, he doesn’t want to leave anything on the table should there not be an opportunity to race past the 14th race of the season.

“I’ve appreciated everything that Win-Tron Racing has done for me this year,” explained Merrell. “Last year we had our ups and downs but we’ve had nothing to complain about this year. Momentum has been on our side lately, hopefully we can keep it rolling with a win on Sunday afternoon. It surely would be a nice parting gift for them, if this is truly my last race of the year.”

Nate Thiesse, Co-Owner and General Manager of Win-Tron Racing offered his two-cents on this weekend’s activities. “We’re glad Matt is back at the helm,” he said. “He has done us a fabulous job this year. I know there is a sense of nervousness about the race on Sunday but he should be able to step up to the challenge without any hesitation.”

Entering Springfield, Win-Tron Racing holds the third position in the ARCA RE/MAX Series owner’s standings after 13 races. Car owner Kevin Cywinski is 215 markers from moving back to the top spot held by fellow car owner Jessica Sharp (No. 6). The team maintained their position after Matt Merrell recorded another career-best second place finish at Pocono Raceway earlier this month.

Further information and driving opportunities with Win-Tron Racing is available by visiting win-tronracing.com or contacting Nate Thiesse at 952.469.1839.

For more on Matt Merrell please visit, MattMerrellRacing.com.

The Allen Crowe 100 (100 miles/ 100 laps) is the 14th of 21 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 27th ARCA event held at Illinois State Fairgrounds is a one-day show.

BOWLING GREEN, Kentucky (August 12, 2009) – - 28 year-old Stuart Kirby hasn’t raced in nearly four years but the waiting is almost over as the Bowling Green, Kentucky native announced today he has scheduled a return to the ARCA RE/MAX Series beginning with an open-test at Chicagoland Speedway on August 19.

Kirby, who has 15 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit will look to make his 16th career start when the series returns to Chicagoland Speedway on August 28th for the running of the Ansell Cut Protection 150.

And while the former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) driver has drove for legendary ARCA car owner Bob Schacht his return from hiatus won’t be Schacht but instead with longtime ARCA car owner Bob Hendren.

Hendren has tapped the three-time Menards Pole by Ansell winner to drive the No. 66 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS under the direction of crew chief Walter Giles. Giles and Kirby have worked together when Kirby competed in the NSCS in 2005 driving the No. 51 Marathon American Spirit Motor Oil Chevrolet for owner Joe Auer.

“I cannot wait to get back in a car,” said Kirby, who also has experience in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. “I’ve been trying to get back to the racetrack for sometime and finally the hard work has paid off and I’ll be back doing what I love – racing. I appreciate everything that Bob Hendren is doing to get us to the track and to have the opportunity to work with Walter again is going to feel like old times.”

For Giles, he is equally excited about the opportunity to reunite with Kirby.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to be involved with Stuart again as I have not worked with him since we ran a limited schedule cup program together in 2005,” said Giles. “I recognized the immense potential he had right from our first Cup test together and he has always exceeded my expectations both as a driver and an ambassador for his team and sponsors. We are preparing for the Chicago ARCA test and race with the object of making a return to victory lane for our driver and team owner Hendren Motorsports. This race is very important to us as a team as we are in the process of establishing a fully funded team for 2010 and contending for the ARCA championship.”

The good news for the Illinois based team is that statistics show that Kirby has no problem maneuvering around Chicagoland Speedway but the successful entrepreneur is looking for his first top-10 finish at the 1.5-mile track.

“I won the ARCA pole in 2005 but we had a mechanical failure at the start of the race and we never were able to show our strength. Hopefully we can go to the test put our car up near the top and come back for the race and put on a show. I’m just excited about the opportunity. Surely, I want to make the best of it.”

He continued, “It sunk my heart when I had to leave racing because of funding issues. Since I’ve been away I’ve opened up a couple of businesses (Bruster’s Real Ice Cream) which has proven to be successful but I haven’t finished my goals in racing. I’m on a mission to get back to the highest level of racing. It’s not going to be easy but I’m ready for the challenges and the climb again.”

Currently, the team does not have any plans to run any remaining ARCA RE/MAX Series events following Chicagoland Speedway but the former late model driver is hoping that will change.

“Right now Chicago is it,” Kirby sounded. “We don’t really have any sponsors for the car, so we’re hoping to go to Chicagoland and put forth everything we have. I would like to do Kansas Speedway and maybe Rockingham to wrap up the year and then we’ll see what develops for next year. One thing is for sure, we don’t plan to leave anything on the table.”

In his 15 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts, Kirby has mounted six top-five finishes and posted eight top-10 runs. He has posted two career-best runner-up finishes at Lowe’s (N.C) Motor Speedway (’01) and Kansas Speedway (‘02) respectively. He has controlled the ARCA field five times for 39 laps.

Armed with the same piece the team rocketed to their best ever Pocono finish just two months ago, the team had hoped to find a comfortable setup for their 23-year old phenom driver. In practice, Sheltra posted the 14th fastest effort by producing a time of 55.825 seconds at 161.218 miles per hour.

“We have a pretty good car,” said Sheltra following practice. “We are trying to get the car handling a little better throughout the track. Hopefully we’ll get to qualify and we can move forward from there.”

Sheltra’s hope of qualifying would be dashed when Mother Nature washed out Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying for the second consecutive event and for the fifth time in 2009. Sheltra would start the event from the 10th position based upon on the team’s car owner points.

From the start of the Pennsylvania ARCA 200, Sheltra in typical fashion mashed the gas and moved into the eighth position but would be sidelined when the caution flag flew out by the end of lap one.

Sheltra didn’t acknowledge much about his racecar right off the bat but would inform his crew chief John Hayden about his car handling’s as the race progressed forward.

Another early race caution would see Sheltra hold firmly in the top-10, but during the race’s long span of green flag racing, the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger began back-pettling through the running order settling safely in the top-15.

Green flag pit stops would begin approaching lap 40 with Sheltra ordered by crew chief John Hayden, a former ARCA driver himself to bring his Grace Sheltra owned machine to pit road for four tires, fuel and a minor chassis adjustment to battle a tight and loose handling Dodge Charger.

After a flawless performance on pit road, Sheltra returned to the track getting back in the gas but the yellow flag would fly just four laps later trapping the team one lap behind the leaders.

The mission for the rest of the 80-lap event would be to retain the lap lost. Over the course of the next thirty laps, Sheltra would fight hard with a strong group of lap down machines trying to be in position for the Aaron’s Lucky Dog.

The opportunity for Sheltra to regain lead lap status would never come to fruitation but the handling and the performance of the Buffalo Wings & Rings Racing machine would.

During the last quarter of the event, coaching from spotter Kevin Huffines and driver coach and former NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Ted Musgrave boosted the Indiantown, Florida’s confidence which reacted to faster lap times.

With a caution flying inside the final five laps of the event, Sheltra and Hayden consulted and agreed to bring his car down pit lane for four tires and one can of fuel setting up for what was expected to be the last run of the day.

Restarting the event in the 15th position, Sheltra would climb four positions during the green-white-checkered finish to post his ninth top-15 finish of the year in 13 races.

Patrick Sheltra

“We had a top-10 car for sure,” sounded Sheltra after the event. “We got trapped with the caution flag coming out without the pit cycle fully making its round. It’s disappointing but we bounced back late in the race to end up the first car one lap down. The next eight races is all or nothing for the Sheltra Motorsports team.”

He added, “I just have to thank Buffalo Wings & Rings, the team, Ted Musgrave, all of our marketing partners and Scott Herman of MTV’s Real World Brooklyn and his posse for their support of our team and myself at Pocono.”

Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is the first of two stops to the one-mile dirt ovals with the first coming at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois for the running of the Allen Crowe 100 on Sunday, August 23rd.

Before turning his efforts towards Springfield, Sheltra Motorsports will participate in a private test session at New Jersey Motorsports Park on Tuesday, August 4 in preparation for the New Jersey ARCA 150 set for Sunday, September 13. Mr. Showtime will make his second start at the newly built road course next month.

Exiting Pocono, Sheltra has 59 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009).

The debut resulted in a solid 15th place finish.

Entering Berlin on the heels of a top-12 effort the weekend before at Kentucky Speedway, Brent inched into the Marne, Michigan based short track looking for a run that would help boost the team’s morale while make the move into the top-10 in the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship race.

Optimism was the best word to describe Brent’s thought invading the track on Saturday morning. “It looks like a pretty neat track, but I’ll let you know for sure once practice is over,” joked Brent.

With a relatively short practice session on tap for the ARCA RE/MAX Series teams, Brent knew that he quickly needed to familiarize himself with the .4-mile oval. In practice, Brent was able to net the 18th fastest time. Brent, driving the No. 36 Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge Charger posted a lap of 17.926 seconds transferring to a speed of 87.962 miles per hour.

Despite the unfamiliar territory, Brent was less than seven-tenths-of a second off the leader fastest lap.

“It’s a close field, real close,” said Brent, who is negotiating a full-time ARCA schedule in addition to pursuing a college degree. “The car is pretty stable. We’re not 100 percent satisfied with it’s handling around the track but Bob (Blount, crew chief) and I are going to talk and we’ll see where we stand after qualifying. The track is pretty neat, not a bad place for an ARCA race.”

In qualifying, the former road racing ace was prepared to drive hard and post a solid qualifying run. With much of the field picking up from their fastest practice lap, the Justin Allgaier Motorsports (JAM) was hoping to add themselves into the same category. By the completion of lap two, Brent had clicked off a lap time of 17.482 seconds at 90.196 miles per hour netting the team 16th on the starting grid. The ARCA driver picked over four-tenths of a second from practice to Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying.

Robb Brent

“We’re not going to complain about that lap,” offered Brent. “It’s not a top-10 starting spot but it’s one of our best starts on a short track this year so we’re moving forward and that’s a positive sign. We’re going for a top-10 finish but a night with the car intact would be a respectable outcome for my Berlin debut.”

During the course of the Wolverine Power Systems 200 presented by Generac, Brent remained competitive in the race’s second pack hovering between the 14th and 18th positions.

A solid round of yellow flags would keep the No. 36 team at the tail end of the lead lap with Brent continuing to log laps around the Western Michigan oval.

Unfortunately, Brent during the course of a solid-green flag run would lose his lead lap status as the leaders dived underneath the blue and black machine with Brent setting his eyes back on the lucky dog award.

The opportunity presented itself approaching lap 90 when two cars collided in turn four with Brent hammering through the middle of the spinning cars. The yellow flag would be a bonus for the Mike Allgaier owned team as the Springfield, Illinois based operation was the beneficiary of the free pass which repositioned them back on the lead lap.

When the leaders tackled pit road, Brent joined the crowd down pit road which is extremely tight and dark. Blount called for four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment to deal with a machine that was suffering a tight condition.

On the restart, Brent resumed in the 12th position and had positioned himself in the top-10 just after halfway among a fierce battle of lead lap cars which were side-by-side nearly four rows deep. Despite strong pressure from behind, Brent held off the pack but eventually better handling cars would overtake the 22-year old slicing him back into the top-15.

With another trip to pit road approaching lap 125, Brent was set for fuel but was hoping for a mad dash march back towards the top-10.

As the night carried on and the track began to cool, the handling on Brent’s automobile became increasing worse which kept the team at bay. Despite not having anything for the top-10 competitors, Brent was able to maintain a solid position in the top-15.

A battle with the No. 60 of Patrick Sheltra and the No. 21 of Michel Disdier would Brent’s biggest fights of the second half with Sheltra making the move by but the No. 36 was able to overtake the Frenchman of Disdier.

Despite losing a lap in the final 30 laps of the event, Brent was able to hunker down and cross the start finish line 15th. The effort was the team’s eighth top-15 finish in 11 races.

“We didn’t have a good enough car to finish in the top-10 but we soldiered on to a respectable top-15 run,” said Brent after the race. “I really learned a lot out there tonight. Traffic was pretty hectic at times but it was a pretty competitive race. We kept working on the car but its handling kept changing throughout the event. We made due though – we’ll take this and move on to Pocono next weekend.”

The finish inched Brent closer towards moving into the top-10 as Tim George Jr had his struggles in the 12th race of the year. The two are expected to be neck-and-neck for the 10th position come the end of the next ARCA RE/MAX Series event, the Pennsylvania 200 set for Saturday, August 1st. The event will be televised live on SPEED beginning at 1:00 p.m. Eastern.

In his 27 ARCA starts, Brent has acquired two top-five finishes and nine top-10 efforts.

This season, Brent has four top-10 finishes in 11 starts with a best finish of seventh at Pocono Raceway earlier in June. A 15th place qualifying effort at Michigan International Speedway in June is the team’s season best thus far.

Despite the expected challenges Saturday night, Brent hopes to shine through the light with a victory aboard his Justin Allgaier Motorsports prepared machine at Berlin Raceway in the Wolverine Power Systems 200 presented by Generac.

Brent, piloting the No. 36 Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge Charger rolls into his home state short track on the heels of a top-15 run last Saturday night at Kentucky Speedway. While the 12th place finish wasn’t the experience the team was hoping for; they are taking the effort in stride and hoping for a return to the top-10 in his inaugural Berlin Raceway debut.

Finishing well at new places hasn’t particularly been a problem for the 22-year old this season but Berlin Raceway is a new face and a short track; a track type that he wants to sharpen in more ways than one this weekend.

Robb Brent

“Short tracks are still somewhat new to me,” said Brent, who is managing a college degree in-between racing. “I think with the second half of the season here my biggest goal is improving my short track performance and putting our Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep team near the front.”

He continued, “I’ve never been to Berlin Raceway before, so I’m a little anxious. I’ve heard that it is quite an interesting place to race. As a team though, our overall goals haven’t skipped a beat. We need to use practice to our advantage and find us a good starting spot for the race. A finish in the top-10 will be welcomed Saturday night for sure.”

Before heading up to Berlin, Brent spent his week in Springfield, Illinois at Justin Allgaier Motorsports working hard in the shop with his team while enjoying some down-time outside the shop with his crew.

“My car chief Kelly Kovski raced his dirt modified on Sunday and I really enjoyed watching him race. He knows how to sling a car on the dirt. On Wednesday, a couple of our guys raced their Karts at a local track in Illinois and it was definitely entertaining. I really enjoyed cheering them on. My guys root me on each and every week when I’m in the car; it was neat to experience it from a different end this week.”

Occupying the 11th position in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings, Brent chopped off several points last weekend at Kentucky towards making his dent into the top-10. Just 75 points from conquering one of his major feats of the year, Brent knows that finishing the event Saturday night is crucial to keep heading in the right direction.

“While some drivers and teams are not thinking about points; we are,” offered Brent. “It will be a huge milestone for this team to march into the top-10; especially with missing the first race of the season at Daytona. We keep making headway and that’s positive.”

In his 27 ARCA starts, Brent has acquired two top-five finishes and nine top-10 efforts.

This season, Brent has four top-10 finishes in 10 starts with a best finish of seventh at Pocono Raceway earlier in June. A 15th place qualifying effort at Michigan International Speedway in June is the team’s season best thus far.

The Wolverine Power Systems 200 presented by Generac (200 laps / 88 miles) is the 12th of 21 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The Marne, Michigan event is a one-day show. Practice begins Saturday, July 25 with an hour and half practice session planned from 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin at 5:00 p.m. The event will take the green flag that evening shortly after 8:30 p.m. The event will not be televised but broadcast coverage will be available live through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.

ARCA RE/MAX Series Race No. 11,

Click It Or Ticket. Drive Smart! Buckle-Up Kentucky 150,

Kentucky Speedway, Sparta, Kentucky

Race Information: Event: Click It Or Ticket. Drive Smart! Buckle-Up Kentucky 150, Saturday, July 18 at 9:45 p.m. Local Time Track: Kentucky Speedway Qualifying: Saturday, July 18 at 5:00 p.m. Local Time Track Length: 1.5-mile paved oval.

Iowa Speedway Recap: Patrick Sheltra and the Sheltra Motorsports team overcame adversity last Saturday night that consisted of an innocent spin and a blown tire and still posted a 14th place finish in the Prairie Meadows 200. The finish was a solid rebound from two sour performances at Michigan International Speedway and Mansfield Motorsports Park respectively.

Returning To The Bluegrass Oval: For the sixth time in his ARCA RE/MAX Series, Patrick Sheltra will take the green flag at Kentucky Speedway Saturday night. In five prior efforts at Kentucky, Sheltra has maneuvered a top-10 finish three times including a personal best of sixth in the most recent ARS event at Kentucky in May. Ironically, Kentucky Speedway is the site of Sheltra’s first career top-10 finish in 2007.

Texas Get-A-Way: Following the ARCA RE/MAX Series event at Iowa Speedway, Patrick Sheltra boarded a plane and headed to Dryden, Texas for a four day getaway to his family’s ranch in a city that hosts just 11 people, 12 including Sheltra. Mr. Showtime spent his time in the Lone Star state checking and working around his property and preparing for his family’s arrival for hunting season this fall.

Plenty Of Guests; No Pressure: With the Kentucky Speedway being the closest event to Sheltra’s primary marketing partner Buffalo Wings & Rings, it’s no surprise that Sheltra will have plenty of fan support for Saturday night’s race. Before the 11th race of the season takes the green flag, Sheltra Motorsports is expecting nearly 40 guests to tour the garage area and inspect the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger for themselves.

Pitch-Hint: Bowling Green, Kentucky native Doug Kriser will assist Sheltra Motorsports for the second consecutive weekend as jackman. Matt Angel, the team’s primary jackman continues to recover from a knee procedure. Kriser performed with the Sheltra Motorsports last weekend at Iowa Speedway and most recently served the ARCA RE/MAX Series community with Roush Fenway Racing and driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr in 2008.

Halfway Mark: Saturday’s Click It Or Ticket. Drive Smart! Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 officially kicks off the second half of the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series season. During the team’s first half, they have notched one win, three top-fives and four top-10s including a career best qualifying run of third at Rockingham Speedway in April.

No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger

Watcha Haulin?: Crew Chief John Hayden has elected to use Sheltra Motorsports Chassis No. 13 this weekend at Kentucky Speedway. This is the same piece the team raced to a sixth place finish at Kentucky Speedway in May. This car has also had track time at Michigan International Speedway, Nashville Superspeedway and Chicagoland Speedway last season. The former Penske Racing ride has three top-10 finishes including a best of sixth at Michigan (2008) and Kentucky (2009) in four starts. It will be run for just the fifth time in Sheltra’s career. Chassis number 16 will serve as the team’s back-up automobile. That former Richard Childress Racing entry is a new addition to the team’s fleet. The Whitesville, Kentucky based team tested this Dodge Charger at Michigan International Speedway in May. It has yet to see any ARCA race competition.

Points Check: After round 10 on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, Patrick Sheltra sits eighth in the championship standings accumulating 2035 points. Just 205 points keeps Sheltra from the fourth position. Sheltra is 575 markers from the top-spot. Car owner Grace Sheltra sits 10th in the car owner standings.

Keeping The Streak Alive: For 33 consecutive races, Sheltra Motorsports has fielded a car for Patrick Sheltra that run in the top-10 (at one point or another) for all events reverting back to the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX 250 at Talladega Superspeedway. The team added their 33rd race at Iowa Speedway despite finishing 14th. During this period, the team has amassed one win, seven top-fives and 13 top-10 finishes. The team’s best qualifying effort occurred at Rockingham Speedway in April where Sheltra awarded himself with a career best run of third. The team has led five races at Rockingham Speedway (2009), Salem Speedway (2009) Kansas Speedway (2008), Cayuga Motor Speedway (2008), and Talladega Superspeedway (2008), for a total of 109 laps.

You Can Be Apart Of The Ultimate Hunting Experience: Sheltra Motorsports wants to give a race fan an ultimate opportunity to join Patrick Sheltra or Sheltra Motorsports dirt driver Shannon Babb a chance at a paramount moment to hunt with either driver at Patrick Sheltra’s hunting ranch in Dryden, Texas. The best part, all expenses paid! Race fans will have the entire ARCA season to enter the contest with the winner being announced in the ARCA RE/MAX Series finale at Rockingham Speedway in October. Visit HuntingExtravangza.com for more details.

This Is The People’s Car: In an effort to bring race fans closer to the Sheltra Motorsports team, the team is full throttle with their Peoples Car promotion. Race fans will have the opportunity to have their name plastered on the No. 60 for the rest of the ARCA RE/MAX Series season. In addition, each time a fan joins the People’s Car their name will be tossed into a drawing for an-all expensed paid trip (minus lodging expenses) to the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series season finale at Rockingham Speedway. The lucky fan will be an honorary member of the Sheltra Motorsports team plus enjoy a few little surprises the team has spiced up for the lucky winner. Browse PatrickSheltra.com or ThePeoplesCars.com for all the details.

On Iowa Speedway: “After all that occurred, we have to be somewhat satisfied with a top-15 finish. We wished we could have walked away with a top-10, but we’ll take the finish in stride and move forward to Kentucky this weekend.”

On Kentucky Speedway: “Kentucky Speedway is a cool place and I’m looking forward to getting back on the track. We had a sixth place run in May and I think we have a package that can win this weekend. For the most part, the track has been good to us and I hope we can keep it that on Saturday night.”

On His Trip To Dryden, Texas: “It was hot down there. We’ve been trying to get down there for a while and we finally made time after the Iowa race. It’s peaceful down there for sure. I’m glad to get out of there to go back racing but I’m looking forward to spending some time down there in the fall.”

On All The Guests This Weekend: “The more the merrier. It’s a big weekend for us especially with the closeness of the track to Buffalo Wings & Rings headquarters. We had a solid top-10 finish with all the guests we had in May. I think the number has doubled this weekend, so that only means we’re going to find ourselves in victory lane when the checkered flag flies Saturday night.”

On The First Half Of The Season: “We had our ups and downs but there’s definitely room for improvement. We’re still building fast cars and running in the top-10, so that’s good. We just need to lead some races and get back in victory lane in the second half. It’s all or nothing from here on out. When Rockingham rolls around, I think you’ll find this team sitting in the top-five in the point standings.”

Sheltra Motorsports, Kentucky Speedway: Grace Sheltra, owner of the
No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger:

On Iowa Speedway: “It was an eventful night but the team bounced back and got a respectable finish. We’re hoping that the run is the start of an upswing change of luck for the Sheltra Motorsports team.”

On Kentucky Speedway: “The race in May was a good run for us but we’re going to Kentucky Speedway this weekend looking for a top-five run if not a win. We’re bringing a great car and we should have one of the strongest engines in the field, so we’re hoping to pull into victory lane for the first time on a speedway. We’ll have a huge cheering section on Saturday night, so that’s a huge confidence booster for the team.”

On The First Half Of The Season: “I’m proud of the Sheltra Motorsports team. Sure we had some bad finishes but we also had some strong finishes too. We made some mistakes but we’ve learned from them. I think you’ll see a much stronger team in the second half and you’ll find the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger a familiar car in the top-five in the last 10 races.”

But as the series kicks off the second half it steers the tour back to Kentucky Speedway where Sheltra feels a powerful performance will come in Saturday night’s Click It Or Ticket. Drive Smart! Buckle-Up Kentucky 150.

The Indiantown, Florida native invades Kentucky after a solid 14th place performance at Iowa Speedway last weekend but after a flop of bad luck over the last two month, Sheltra turns to the Bluegrass state for his fourth top-five run of the year and quite possibly his second win of the year.

“I’ve had success at Kentucky Speedway,” said Sheltra. “Actually, it’s the place of my very first top-10 finish in ARCA back in 2007. That means a lot even to this day. I like the place. The track though has changed over the past couple of years which forces the teams to buckle down and setup their cars perfectly.”

When the ARCA RE/MAX Series hosted a race at Kentucky Speedway in May, Sheltra was impressive. Not just because he battled an invasion of Toyota Camry’s but mainly because the 23-year old driver recovered from an interesting practice session which saw the Sheltra Motorsports team struggling to stay in the top-20.

“Practice didn’t go our way in May,” Sheltra recalled. “We tried a couple of things and the car did not respond at all. We changed everything and I mean everything before the race and it paid off. We had a competitive car but the Toyotas have had an advantage over the other manufacturers on the bigger tracks and they were tough to rattle. We’ve gone back to Ernie Elliott, our motor builder who’s done a great job for us this year and I think we’re going to be even happier with what’s under the hood this weekend.”

Sheltra added, “Kentucky Speedway has a lot of bumps. Every year the track seems to be getting more and more of them. You have to dial in your car to conquer them. You also have to a car that will power off the corner and race hard down the straight-aways. There’s no doubt in my mind even with the stout field that lies ahead this weekend, we’ll be in contention to be the first car to see the checkered flag.”

Buffalo Wings & Rings, the primary marketing partner for Sheltra is headquartered in nearby Cincinnati, Ohio. With tons of support including a tour bus coming from Richmond, Indiana to cheer on the Buffalo Wings & Rings racing machine, Sheltra or “Mr. Showtime” as he’s known through the ARCA garage knows the goal at hand for the 11th race of the season.

Patrick Sheltra

“It’s a short race, 100 laps,” sounded Sheltra. “You can’t really play around because if the race goes green, you could be off the lead lap before you know it. On the other hand, you have to use your head and work on your car to be in the leader sights for the final thirty laps. We’ll probably have the biggest cheering section at Kentucky Speedway Saturday night and I want nothing more than to take that crowd to victory lane.”

Reflecting on the first half of the season, Sheltra knows the team has experienced the top as well as falling to the bottom but he’s determined to show that his Whitesville, Kentucky based team still knows how to win and be a championship contender.

“We’ve experienced everything you possibly could have in racing during the first half,” admitted Sheltra. “This team though faced similar obstacles last year and we overcame them a better team. Our goal is to continue to win races and try to finish in the top-five in the championship standings by October.”

Crew Chief John Hayden has elected to use Sheltra Motorsports Chassis No.

Entering Kentucky, Sheltra has 56 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated nine top-fives and posted 18 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field five times for 109 laps.

The Click It Or Ticket. Drive Smart! Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 (100 laps / 150 miles) is the 11th of 21 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 19th ever ARCA race at Kentucky Speedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Friday, July 17 with a hour and twenty minute session planned from 5:00 p.m. – 6:20 p.m. A happy hour session has been etched in Friday night from 7:40 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is set for Saturday, 18 slated to begin at 5:00 p.m. The event will take the green flag that evening shortly after 9:45 p.m. The event will be televised live on SPEED with additional broadcasting available live through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.
