Jimmie Johnson, in a backup car after having to change an engine earlier in the day, was second fastest with a lap speed of 198.222 mph, and was followed by Joey Logano (197.960 mph) who was third fastest, Matt Kenseth (197.916) fourth and pole-sitter Mark Martin (197.488) was fifth fastest.
