Eight NSCS teams that did not practice in Friday's first Daytona 500's practice session, due to rain shortening the session, were given a 30 minute session Saturday morning. David Gilliland, with a speed of 187.219 mph, posted the fastest speed, while Jeff Fuller (186.513) was second fastest, Raybestos Rookie contender Terry Cook (185.563) was third fastest, Derrike Cope (184.657) fourth, Michael McDowell (184.204) fifth, Kirk Shelmerdine (183.966) sixth, Mike Wallace (182.341) seventh and Norm Benning (179.759) rounds out the eight drivers.
