LOS ANGELES, CA (March 10, 2010) – IZOD IndyCar driver Milka Duno will travel .approximately 195 miles in this Sunday’s first race of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series Championship at the Sao Paulo Indy 300 on the streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil – but she’ll travel much further than that just to get there – 21,981 miles more to be exact.

Milka’s “Road to Brazil” began in Miami where she departed on March 3 to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the invitation of the Queen of Malaysia to speak at the 6th annual Women of Independence Conference in celebration of the 2010 International Women’s Day on March, 9, 2010.

The trip from Miami to Kuala Lumpur started with a 5 hour 55 minute, 2341 mile flight to Los Angeles. A 15 hour, 6774 mile flight took her from Los Angeles to Taipei and then a final flight from Taipei to Kuala Lumpur lasted 4 hours and 35 minutes and covered 2018 miles.

Milka left Miami on March 3 and arrived in Kuala Lumpur on March 5 – two days later!

After her speech at the conference on Tuesday and attending the official dinner reception that same evening, Milka boarded a 02:10am flight on Wednesday morning out of Kuala Lumpur to Dubai, UAE – yet another stop on her way to Sao Paulo. The flight from Kuala Lumpur to Dubai lasted 7 hours and covered 3438 miles.

Departing Dubai Milka was finally on her last flight on the road to Sao Paulo – which will last 14 hours 55 minutes and cover 7605 miles. Milka will arrive in Sao Paulo at 6:30pm today – Wednesday, March 10.

All told, Milka will have traveled 22,176 miles and been in the air for a total of 47 hours and 25 minutes. She was on four different planes, on three separate airlines, that stopped at six airports, with three customs checks and traveling through approximately 22 time zones. She had layovers in Los Angeles of 9 hours, 5 hours and 25 minutes in Dubai and 90 minutes in Taipei.

“I’m really very excited about our first IndyCar race in South America and in front of the Brazilian people – I am South American after all,” said a smiling Milka. But I’ll also be really excited about our second race of the season on the streets of St. Petersburg, FL – because it’s only about 250 miles from my home in Miami – and I will probably drive!”
