FOR THE FORD 300 NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES RACE
AT HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2010
Kyle Busch clinched the WIX Filters Lap Leader Award in tonight’s Ford 300. Busch earned a $20,000 cash prize from WIX Filters for his efforts.
· Busch led seven times for 153 laps to earn WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in tonight’s Ford 300. He led 34 times in 28 different races for a total of 2,229 laps. In 144 superspeedway races Busch has led 7,127 laps and a grand total of 9,466 laps in 202 career starts.
· Busch won tonight’s race, crossing the finish line .850 seconds ahead of second-place Kevin Harvick. He won for a series record 13th time this season racked up his 22nd top-five finish. Busch finished in the top-10 in 25 of 29 starts this season. He scored his second career victory at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
· UNOFFICIALLY Busch finished third in the series championship standings, despite not competing in six races.
· Busch captured WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors for the 18th time this season.
· BUSCH QUOTES: “It started off this weekend with a great team. Jason [Ratcliff, crew chief] and the guys prepared a great race car back at the shop along with all the chassis guys and body hangers and the engine group too that gave us a race car to come out here to put it up front. Qualified second to Joey [Logano] there and we came out here and we were able to prevail and get the job done. You know it was a heck of race there with Harvick there towards the end and battling back and forth with him a little bit I thought I messed up and gave the win away there for a minute but we were able to rally back on the next restart and get back by him and getting there to the checkered flag first. Really good day for us all around.
Can’t thank Jim and Monica Sexton enough from Z Line Designs and everybody that’s been fortunate enough to be a part of this program and help us win 30, 40 something races here in the last three years since 2008 of me coming aboard the Joe Gibbs Racing team. It wouldn’t be possible without these guys support to my right and Brad [Coleman] doing the job that he did as well this year in the races that I wasn’t able to attend and keeping us up there in the points so I could go out there and be where we are tonight, at least get Joe where he is tonight [smile].”
