In earning the win, Kwasniewski became the all-time youngest winner in K&N Pro Series West history, breaking Joey Logano’s mark (at 16 years, 10 months) from 2007. Kwasniewski also steered his No. 03 Rockstar Energy Drink / Royal Purple Ford to the pole in qualifying, becoming the youngest all-time pole winner, surpassing the mark set by Spencer Clark in 2006.
“I’m looking to win in every series and I’m glad I got my first one in the K&N Pro Series,” said Kwasniewski. “We’ve been close a couple of times. We’ve been fighting with my teammate Greg (Pursley). I’m glad that I finally got us a win.”
Kwasniewski sits seventh in the series standings as the highest-positioned rookie, despite only attempting nine out of 10 races.
The remaining K&N Pro Series West schedule includes Montana Raceway Park this Saturday, Spokane County Raceway (Wash.) on September 3, All American Speedway (Calif.) on October 15, and Phoenix International Raceway (Ariz.) on November 12.
In addition to the K&N Pro Series win, Kwasniewski has won four more races in 2011 across three states: I-10 Speedway (Calif.), Lake Havasu Speedway (Ariz.) and The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Nev.).
MEET DYLAN KWASNIEWSKI
Dylan Kwasniewski is the fastest-rising rookie in NASCAR K&N Pro Series West.*
The 16-year-old driver from Las Vegas cut his teeth racing karts and Legends cars, but the Nevada State Champion across three different classes (Legends Pro, Legends Semi Pro and Bandolero) has seen a career explosion since climbing aboard heavier Late Models and K&N Pro Series cars.
Kwasniewski is making a habit out of breaking records. In 2010, he set the Late Model track record at Lake Havasu Speedway (Ariz.), a year removed from setting the Legends Car track record at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring (Nev.). This past weekend, Kwasniewski became the youngest all-time race winner and pole winner in NASCAR K&N Pro Series West history.
He will become age-eligible to compete in the top three NASCAR series on May 31, 2013.
