NEW YORK – April 29, 2010 – The Andy Griffith Show is returning to North Carolina with the debut of an original commemorative racecar that pays tribute to the iconic series. CBS Consumer Products in conjunction with HLG Licensing announced today a partnership with Front Row Motorsports and the No. 34 Ford Fusion team to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the beloved series. The car, to be driven by renowned NASCAR star Travis Kvapil, is slated to make its first appearance in the NASCAR Banking 500 during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, October 16, 2010, and broadcast by ABC.

The partnership marks the second time that CBS Consumer Products has come together with the NASCAR organization to feature a car scheme based on The Andy Griffith Show. Based on the announcement, CBS Consumer Products will be developing a very special merchandising and promotional program around the NASCAR partnership and will soon be announcing an entire line of products in the apparel, accessories, gift and toy categories.

“Partnering with Front Row Motorsports, Travis Kvapil and the No. 34 Ford Fusion has given us a great opportunity to celebrate The Andy Griffith Show’s 50th Anniversary, and what better place to reveal the car than in the show’s home state of North Carolina,” said Liz Kalodner, Executive Vice President and General Manager of CBS Consumer Products.

“Like so many NASCAR fans, The Andy Griffith Show was a favorite of mine,” said the No. 34 Ford Fusion Team owner Bob Jenkins. “When we were able to put this partnership together to help celebrate the show’s 50th Anniversary and tie in our race program I knew this was going to be something pretty cool. I know the fans will be excited to be a part of this too.”

HLG has previously tied NASCAR teams with Hollywood’s top entertainment brands including Jim Henson’s “Muppets,” Marvel’s “Spiderman,” Universal’s “Monsters of the Speedway” and more.

Hosted annually at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C., the NASCAR Banking 500 is a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race that is part of the Chase for the Sprint Cup and is 500 miles long. Travis Kvapil is a 34-year-old father of three from Janesville, Wis., who has been behind the wheel of a racecar since he was 14. In 2008, Kvapil earned four top-10 finishes, a pole position and 23rd place in the NSCS point standings. Kvapil is now back in the seat of a full-time NSCS ride in 2010, driving the No. 34 Long John Silver’s Ford for Front Row Motorsports. The team is in its second full-time season and continues to be a consistent presence in the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

“The Andy Griffith Show is an American icon and with its roots here in North Carolina it will surely be a hit with the fans,” said Travis Kvapil. “I’m proud to help celebrate its 50th Anniversary.”
